Holy YHWH, though the storms blow in across the land, you are our steadfast anchor. Though the winds tear at the flesh and grip with destructive fingers the most stable structures, you cannot be uprooted. When all things are caught up in the fury of the tempest, you stand firm for you are the ONE who controls the storms of life.
You do not tempt but you do test. You do not do evil but you permit it. Just as the loving parent allows the child to make mistakes in order to learn, so you give us the right to choose our paths. You know what is on those paths and you whisper to us and shout to us and try to redirect when we choose poorly. Ultimately, you will not obstruct us when we are determined to go our own way—even if that way leads to eternal death.
In the same way, when we put our hope in you, you send us down the path that is most likely to reshape us, grow us and perfect us so we are ready when your kingdom comes. It is the path that, though the storms are there, you carry us through them. It is the way that takes us through only the struggles that will not overwhelm us because you have promised you would not let that happen.
Yes, destruction and disaster is permitted on the earth on an unimaginable scale because mankind has cast you off. You give those who reject you their right to choose corruption. Yet, you shield us from the worst of it. You protect us from that which would destroy us. Because our hope is found in you, you will not let us be utterly torn down but only reshaped.
Thank you for the trials that refine.
Thank you that the terrors and horrors will never be ours because of the cross.
Thank you that there is a great difference between the two.
Thank you that very soon you will blow the shofar, give a shout and the dead in Y’shua will rise and we will meet them in the air to be with our Saviour forever.
Come Y’shua! Come! In your name and through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ[a] took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed[b] to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
