Ottawa seeking to delay expansion of M.A.I.D. for mental disorders:
The federal government will seek to delay the expansion of assisted dying for people whose sole underlying conditions are mental disorders after many leading psychiatrists and mental-health advocates argued that proper safeguards are not yet in place.
The new law, which is currently slated to come into effect in March, would make Canada one of only a few countries in the world that allow assisted dying for mental illness, reports Erin Anderssen.

As friends keep asking "What's going to happen next?" to our country, the lesson of Jesus in the Book of Revelation is this; "The future of eachcity will be different". I quote again from W.M. Ramsay's classic 1908 book Letters to The Seven Churches.
In this respect, then, the letters to Smyrna and Philadelphia form a class by themselves; and the analogy extends to other characteristics. These two Churches are praised with far more cordiality and less reserve than any of the others. They have both had to contend with serious difficulties. The Smyrnaean Church was poor and oppressed, the Philadelphian Church had but little power. Before both there is held forth a prospect of suffering and trial; but in both cases a triumphant issue is confidently anticipated. Life for Smyrna, honour and dignity for Philadelphia, are promised—not for a residue amid the unfaithful, as at Thyatira or Sardis, but for the Church in both cities. It is an interesting coincidence that those are the two cities which have been the bulwark and the glory of Christian power in the country since it became Mohammedan; and a real influence among the Turkish conquerors.
Another analogy is that in those two letters alone is the Jewish Nationalist party mentioned. Now in every city where there was a body of Jews settled, either as resident strangers or as citizens of the town, the Nationalist party existed; and there can hardly be any doubt that in every important commercial centre in the Province Asia there was a body of Jews settled. In every one of the Seven Cities, we may be sure, there was a Nationalist Jewish party, opposing, hating, and annoying the Jewish Christians and with them the whole Church in the city. If that difficulty is mentioned only in those two cities, Smyrna and Philadelphia, the natural inference is that it had been more serious in them than in the others; and that can only be because the Jews were, for some reason or other, especially influential there. Doubtless the reason lay in their numbers and their wealth; and hence the weakness and poverty of the Christian party is especially mentioned in those two Churches, and in none of the other five.
If the Philadelphian Church had little power, so also had the city. It had suffered from earthquakes more than any other city of all Asia. In A.D. 17 a great earthquake had caused very serious damage; and the effects lasted for years after. The trembling of the earth continued for a long time, so that the inhabitants were afraid to repair the injured houses or did so with careful provision against collapse. Two or three years later, when Strabo wrote, shocks of earthquake were an everyday occurrence. The walls of the houses were constantly gaping in cracks; and now one part of the city, now another part, was suffering. Few people ventured to live in the city; most spent their lives outside and devoted themselves to cultivating the fertile Philadelphian territory. There is an obvious reference to this in a later sentence of the letter, where the promise is given to the faithful Philadelphians that they shall go out thence no more.
But when the Seven Letters were written the memory of that disastrous period was still fresh. People remembered, and perhaps still practiced, camping out in the open country; and they appreciated the comfort implied in the promise, verse 12, “he shall go out thence no more.” They appreciated, also, the guarantee that, as a reward for the Church’s loyalty and obedience, “I also will keep thee from the hour of trial, that hour, which is to come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” The Philadelphians who had long lived in constant dread of "the hour of trial” would appreciate the special form in which this promise of help is expressed.
The concluding promise of the letter resumes this allusion. “He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out thence no more.” The pillar is the symbol of stability, of the firm support on which the upper part of the temple rests. The victor shall be shaken by no disaster in the great day of trial; and they shall never again require to go out and take refuge in the open country. The city which had suffered so much and so long from instability was to be rewarded with the Divine firmness and steadfastness.
That is not the only gift that has been granted the Philadelphian Church. “See! I am giving of the Synagogue of Satan, who profess themselves to be Jews, and they are not, but do lie: see! I will make them come and do reverence before thy feet and know that I have loved thee.” This statement takes us into the midst of the long conflict that had been going on in Philadelphia. The Jews and the Jewish Christians had been at bitter enmity; and it must be confessed that, to judge from the spirit shown in St. John’s references to the opposite party, the provocation was not wholly on one side. The Jews boasted themselves to be the national and patriotic party, the true Jews, the chosen people, beloved and favoured of God, who were hereafter to be the victors and masters of the world when the Messiah should come in His kingdom. They upbraidedand despised the Jewish Christians as traitors, unworthy of the name of Jews, the enemies of God. But the parts shall soon be reversed. [Patrick Bestall]
Kevin McCarthy to call 51 Intelligence Agents to Testify:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said he will call 51 intelligence agents to testify about the Hunter Biden laptop scandal after they referred to it as Russian misinformation.
McCarthy shared the remarks during an interview on Fox News' "One Nation" on Saturday with Brian Kilmeade
"We saw the revelations coming out of Twitter as Elon Musk is unmasking the corruption that existed there and the denials that they testified about. So, for you personally you have another move you want to make. Not only do we want to hear from the former executives of Twitter and the other entities, but you have something else you want to say," the host said.
"Yeah, I do. This is egregious what we are finding. They should not have section 230 to start out with, but we also have to go further. What did Facebook and Google do as well because they became an arm of the Democratic Party and an arm of government," McCarthy answered.
"Those 51 intel agents that signed a letter that said the Hunter Biden information was all wrong — was Russia collusion — many of them have a security clearance. We are going to bring them before committee. I'm going to have them have a hearing," he added.

Judge denies DOJ's request to hold Trump in contempt of court:

A federal judge has denied the Department of Justice's (DOJ) request to hold former President Donald Trump in contempt of court, ABC News reports.
It is an unexpected ruling considering that the judge who made it is U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell, an appointee of former President Barack Obama.
This all has to do with the ongoing documents dispute between President Joe Biden's DOJ and Trump. This is the same dispute that saw the unprecedented FBI raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
The DOJ maintains that Trump illegally took documents from his administration and stored them at his properties. Trump disputes this, and he further maintains that the DOJ's motivation here is political.
This latest development in the case stems from a May subpoena.
CNN, last week, reported:
. . . Trump’s legal team said it conducted searches at four locations just before Thanksgiving, finding two documents with classified markings at a storage facility in Florida. The Trump team turned over those two documents to the FBI and announced to a federal judge in Washington, DC, that they believed Trump was now in compliance with a 6-month-old subpoena.
However, the DOJ, according to the outlet, "disagreed."
It is for this reason that the DOJ pursued a contempt of court charge against Trump - for his supposed failure to comply with this subpoena. The key piece of information that we do not know is why the DOJ believes that Trump has not complied with the subpoena.
The contempt of court hearing took place on Friday under seal.
Judge Howell, according to sources, sided with Trump. ABC News reports that Howell even "urged the Justice Department and Trump’s legal team to resolve the dispute themselves.
It is certainly not the result that the DOJ was hoping for. The department, though, has not commented on Howell's decision.
For Trump, on the other hand, this is a small victory: the chances are that he would have had to pay a fine if found in contempt.
Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, has released a statement on the matter.
Cheung said:
The President and his counsel will continue to be transparent and cooperative, even in the face of the highly weaponized and corrupt witch-hunt from the Department of "Justice." If the Department of "Justice" can go after President Trump, they will surely come after any American who they disagree with. A mystery Fence just showed up at the border to block illegals from entering…
A mystery chain link fence has suddenly appeared at the southern border on the Rio Grande in El Paso.
According to Bill Melugin, he doesn’t know whether DHS did it or the city of El Paso.

If you remember all the way back in September and October, the El Paso mayor wanted to declare a state of emergency over the crisis of illegals in his city. But the Biden admin told him not to do it.
The El Paso mayor has also been sending his own busses of illegals to other states because they are so overwhelmed.

In 2017 President Trump approved the release of approximately 2800 long-classified JFK assassination records.
News outlets from around the globe furiously combed through the files in search of more pieces to the puzzling death of President John F. Kennedy.
President Trump released a second trove of documents later that year.
One of the documents revealed that Democrat President Lyndon Johnson was a KKK member.
As reported earlier today – On Thursday the National Archives released thousands of the JFK documents.
But the FBI-CIA would not allow the release of all of the documents. Around 3% of the JFK documents are still being withheld from release to the public — more than 50 years after the assassination.
What are they hiding?
Tonight, Tucker Carlson provided the answer to this question.
According to Tucker Carlson the answer is because the CIA was involved in the assassination of JFK.
Tucker Carlson: “We spoke to someone who has access to these still hidden CIA documents. The person is deeply familiar with what they contain. We asked this person directly, did the CIA have a hand in the murder of John F. Kennedy, an American President. And here is the reply we received, verbatim, “The answer is yes. I believe they were involved. It’s a whole different country from what we thought it was. It’s all a fake.”
This is someone who had access to these documents.

Does water have a fourth phase, beyond solid, liquid and vapor?
University of Washington Bioengineering Professor Gerald Pollack answers this question and intrigues us to consider the implications of this finding. Not all water is H2O, a radical departure from what you may have learned from textbooks.
Pollack received his PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He then joined the University of Washington faculty and is now professor of Bioengineering. His interests have ranged broadly, from biological motion and cell biology to the interaction of biological surfaces with aqueous solutions. His 1990 book, Muscles and Molecules: Uncovering the Principles of Biological Motion, won an "Excellence Award" from the Society for Technical Communication; his more recent book, Cells, Gels and the Engines of Life, won that Society's "Distinguished Award." Pollack received an honorary doctorate in 2002 from Ural State University in Ekaterinburg, Russia, and was more recently named an Honorary Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He received the Biomedical Engineering Society's Distinguished Lecturer Award in 2002. In 2008, he was the faculty member selected by the University of Washington faculty to receive their highest annual distinction: the Faculty Lecturer Award.
Pollack is a Founding Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a Fellow of both the American Heart Association and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He is also Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal, WATER, and has recently received an NIH Transformative R01 Award. He was the 2012 recipient of the Prigogine Medal and in 2013 published his new book: The Fourth Phase of Water: Beyond Solid, Liquid, and Vapor.
