Joe Rogan is currently embroiled in two controversies surrounding his massively popular podcast. While critics of Rogan have engaged in a campaign to try to force Spotify to cancel "The Joe Rogan Experience," former guests of the show rallied around the beleaguered podcaster to fight back.

Spotify deleted roughly 70 episodes of "The Joe Rogan Experience" last week without providing an explanation for the purge.

A few days earlier, a compilation video went viral of Rogan saying the N-word in past podcasts. Rogan used the racial slur 24 times from episodes recorded years ago, well before his deal with Spotify.

On Saturday, Rogan issued an apology for using the racial slur, calling it "the most regretful and shameful thing I’ve ever had to talk about publicly." Rogan said the clips were taken "out of context" from "12 years of conversations."

This comes on the heels of a firestorm targeting Rogan and accusing him of spreading pandemic misinformation. The situation escalated when musicians threatened to remove their music libraries from Spotify, including Neil Young, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Joni Mitchell, India Arie, and Nils Lofgren.

The 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing has been wrought with controversy for months leading up to its February launch due to criticisms of the Chinese government’s human rights track record.

Now, new reports are exposing another ugly side to the Olympics: China’s shockingly unethical and cruel methods for selecting and forming athletes for Olympic success.

Groomed for gold

According to Breitbart, China’s system for selecting Olympic athletes begins during childhood, instead, selecting athletes as they rise through the ranks of their sport in their teens and twenties.

Breitbart’s Warner Todd Huston wrote on Friday that “China operates a massive, government-supported athletic program that combs its nation of 1.4 billion citizens to find the best candidates for its athletic programs.”

While that in itself may not be unethical, the reported DNA testing, cruel treatment, beatings, and a lack of freedom for the selected athletes is a massive concern that the Chinese government has gone to great lengths to suppress.

Instead of allowing children to develop their affinity and skill in a sport before pushing them into the Olympic track, the Chinese government reportedly uses DNA testing to profile children and force them into athletic training.

“The kids are then removed from their families and placed in wide-ranging training camps to develop their talents. While on the facilities, though, children are treated as assets instead of kids,” Huston reported.

Horror Olympics

The Sun’s Imogen Braddick detailed some of the horrors young Chinese children are subjected to in the state’s pursuit of Olympic gold.

Braddick wrote:

The system is rooted in the Soviet model, which saw sport as a way of attracting prestige for the Communist system.

The state sends out scouts to hunt for tens of thousands of children for full-time training at more than 2,000 government-run sports schools.

Tests for selection see kids being given brutal challenges such as press-ups, endurance running and bench presses that prioritize overall strength over specific skills.

And the elite pupils are shipped off to China’s National Training Center – a sprawl of buildings in a Beijing suburb patrolled by armed guards.

Once the prospective athletes arrive at the training center, they are reportedly subjected to dehumanizing and abusive treatment — all in the name of achieving “glory under the Chinese flag.”

Elite figure skater Jessica Shuran Yu bravely detailed some of the abuse she received at the hands of Chinese Olympic trainers, saying that ” “culture of physical discipline” was prevalent and that the trainees were labeled “lazy”, “stupid”, “retarded”, “useless” and “fat.”

Instead of holding strong in their opposition to a nuclear Iran, the Biden Administration appears to be begging for Iran to sign a deal with the international community. With Biden’s move, Israel and the Gulf Sunni States are becoming more and more isolated. Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson declared a state of emergency in his city on Sunday in the face of ongoing protests that have overwhelmed local resources and strained the faith of local residents hoping for an end to the situation.

In a brief release, the city says the decision reflects the “serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents” from protesters encamped through much of the downtown core.
