Because of the degradation of our society and moral values, the word holiness sounds archaic, even puritanical, to our ears. The world is naturally directed toward destruction, and those following its path are racing headlong toward spiritual death. Uninformed, unaware, and deceived, they hurry through life on a road going nowhere, to an end they don’t believe exists. This is the condition Jesus delivered us from, and now, through Christ, God has declared us holy. You might protest, “Holy? Me? I still feel sin’s tug in my life!” So, do I. But make no mistake, all those who enter heaven will be perfectly holy and sinless. In heaven, the sinful nature that plagues us today is forever banished. Think of it. Not only will the desire to sin not enter our hearts and minds, but the blood of the Lamb has erased even the possibility of it.
The New Testament word for “holy” is hagios, which means “set apart.” A set-apart believer no longer blends in with the crowd they once ran with. A new reality has taken hold that is evident and powerful. Will you agree that our conduct—more than words— is the best testimony of our new life in Christ? Consumer price gains hit their highest level since January 1983 in Canada. The news comes one week after the Canadian central bank surprised the markets by implementing a 100-basis point rate hike. June’s 8.1% inflation rate acted as another indicator that the Canadian economy is in trouble. The BoC is expected to raise rates by an additional 75 bps at the next meeting, but the central bank cannot solve this problem alone.
Canada is expected to post a 2% deficit in GDP this year, making it the poorest among the G7 nations. Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced that the nation would pull back on pandemic spending, which doubled Canada’s national debt. The Bank of Canada is relying on Freeland and the Trudeau Administration to reduce spending. Who will vote for Trudeau if he stops providing free handouts?
Rising interest rates are hiking up the price of debt servicing. Canada is still pushing for additional health and military spending and sending endless funds to Ukraine. Inflationary pressures will lead the people to look to the government for additional relief as they have provided it in the past.
Gas prices have increased 54.6% in the past year, natural gas and oil rose 38.8%, and food has spiked 8.8%. The hashtag #JustInflation has been spreading across social media as people are increasingly frustrated with Trudeau’s lack of response to the rising cost of living.

Pope arrives in CANADA for Reconciliation visit:
Pope Francis landed in Edmonton Sunday to start what he has called his “penitential pilgrimage” across Canada.
Francis was greeted at Edmonton airport by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Governor-General Mary Simon – Canada’s first Indigenous Governor-General – and other political, Indigenous and church leaders from across the country in a subdued gathering.
During his six-day stay in the country, the Pope is expected to deliver an apology for the legacy of physical, sexual and emotional abuse suffered by Indigenous children at Catholic-run residential schools. The Pope’s tour will see him make stops Monday at the former Ermineskin Residential School in Maskwacis, Alta., and the Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples in Edmonton, a church that blends Indigenous ceremony with Catholic liturgy.
It is Pope Francis’s first visit to Canada, and only the fourth papal visit in Canadian history.
