Satellites capture reinvigorated La Palma volcanic eruption
💥💥The revitalized volcanic eruption was accompanied by boulders the size of a house rolling out of the Cumbre Vieja volcano's crater, where part its cone collapsed on Saturday (Oct. 9), as locals reported dozens of Earth tremors up to 3.8 magnitude since Sunday. The reports signal Cumbre Vieja was still far from going to sleep.
The European Earth-observing satellite Sentinel-2 caught a glimpse on Sunday of the new lava streams that squirted out of the fiery volcano after the partial collapse of its conical crater that had formed since the beginning of the eruption on Sept. 19. The collapse freed the way for the up to 2,264 degrees Fahrenheit (1,240 degrees Celsius) hot lava to spill in new directions. A powerful sizzling stream quickly formed north of the original lava river and found a path downhill toward the coast, threatening settlements that have so far escaped the infernal demise.

Why is it important to fear God?
If you study the Bible, there is no mistaking the repeated commands to fear God. Wise King Solomon put it this way in explaining his reason for writing the book of Proverbs: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7).
Why? Consider these words of the psalmist: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever” (Psalm 111:10).
In Psalm 34 King David also tells us about learning the fear of the Lord: “Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. … Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Toronto Hospital Network Content to Let Organ Recipients Die If They Are Unvaccinated:
💥💥💥TORONTO -- Canada’s Largest Transplant Centre has enacted a precedent-setting policy requiring that patients be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to be considered for a life-saving organ transplant.
The decision – one carefully debated by doctors at Toronto’s University Health Network (UHN) – affects some 4,300 Canadians waiting for a donor organ to become available, as well as those who come after them.
“From a medical point of view, we all felt quite strongly that this was needed. So, we've been having a lot of discussion on how best to formulate this policy,” Dr. Atul Humar, director of UHN’s Ajmera Transplant Centre, told CTV National News.
“It was actually a very complex discussion. We had ethical input; we had input from medical leaders and experts in the field.”

Organ transplant recipients face unique risks posed by COVID-19.
While any type of surgery puts stress on a patient’s immune system, leaving them more vulnerable to contracting a virus like COVID-19, organ transplant recipients have an even greater risk thanks to the powerful regime of anti-rejection drugs they need to take in to suppress their immune system to keep their body from rejecting the new organ.
Not only are these patients’ immune systems compromised, but they also face greater risks of complications and death from COVID-19.
“There is ample research to support that the best course of action is to vaccinate individuals prior to transplant, whenever possible,” reads a statement from UHN regarding the decision.
“Just as with other medical requirements, the COVID-19 vaccination helps ensure best possible outcome for our patients.”
According to statistics provided by UHN, unvaccinated patients face a 12-per-cent higher risk of organ rejection and a 30 per cent greater chance of dying from COVID-19 – risks Humar says is far too great to risk squandering a precious resource.
“Remember, the organ is really a scarce resource. It's something donated by another human being. And really, we have to go to all efforts to try to make sure the patient does well, but also that the organ is well cared for,” he said.
The policy is not far-fetched when you consider the rigorous requirements patients already have to meet in order to be listed for a transplant.
“You can't be actively drinking and be listed for a liver transplant you can't actively be smoking and be listed for a lung transplant and this is the same kind of thing really,” Humar explained.
And while it may be the first of its kind in Canada, the requirement has already stirred up a life or death debate in the U.S.
💥💥Colorado woman Leilani Lutali, a born-again Christian with stage 5 kidney disease, was denied a life-saving kidney transplant because she says she cannot agree to be vaccinated on religious grounds.
Lutali, who had lined up her own donor, says both she and the donor were removed from the transplant list.
“It feels a little bit like my transplant is being held hostage and there's only one decision that I'm being left with,” she told CTV National News.
While UHN’s policy only came into effect Friday, Humar says the hospital has given careful consideration to those who may be vaccine hesitant, including an educational process to help people understand vaccines.
“The good news is that there are very, very few patients who refuse vaccination,” he said. “Once they have proper education, once they understand what a transplant involves and the risks related to immunosuppression, then most of them actually agree to get vaccinated.
Maude Laberge, a health equity and policy analysis expert at Laval University, says policies like these are not about making a judgment on people's decision, but ensuring health-care resources, which are already overstretched, are used effectively.
"From a perspective of wanting to use our healthcare resources... to allocate them to the patients that are most likely going to benefit from them, it makes sense to require the vaccine," she told CTV National News.
"This is not about making a value judgment on people's lifestyle or habits or whatever, but more about their capacity to benefit from the intervention."
It’s unclear just how many hospitals in North America have enacted transplant vaccination policies.
The American Hospital Association, which represents nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems and networks in the United States, told The Associated Press it did not have data to share on the issue. But it said many transplant programs insist that patients get vaccinated for COVID-19 because of the weakened state of their immune system.
Humar admits that this is new territory for health care providers; that it would be up to each individual transplant program to decide what is best for their patients.
“Certainly, many other programs are very seriously looking at this,” he said.

Saskatchewan is recruiting former police officers to help enforce COVID-19 public health rules and is also planning a "secure isolation site" in North Battleford, according to an official with the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
The SHA hosted its latest COVID-19 physician town hall on Thursday. The biweekly forum is intended to allow doctors to share information and advice among themselves, but it also contains a wealth of up-to-date information on Saskatchewan's COVID-19 epidemiology and the health-care sector's efforts to curb the disease.
The town hall — a recording of which is typically posted online on Fridays — is also an opportunity for doctors to present their own advice to the Saskatchewan public, including a plea issued during Thursday's town hall for people to limit their contacts to one household during the Thanksgiving weekend.

A week ago, the Doug Ford Government blocked my Jobs and Jabs Bill and potentially sentencing hundreds of thousands of Ontarians to unemployment. Astonishingly, House Leader Paul Calandra and Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton’s office are now denying that the PCs blocked my Bill! Of course, my staff and I clearly made out Paul Calandra telling the Speaker “NO” about half a second after PC MPP, Andrea Khanjin did the same. But this is very good news.
Why would Doug Ford MPPs deny that they blocked my Bill? Because our pressure got to them and because they’re now exposed. An impartial source with knowledge of the situation told me that the Doug Ford “Conservatives know they have a problem”. Our work, efforts and media generated so much attention and pressure on PC MPPs, that they are now pretending not having a part in blocking the Jobs & Jabs Bill and therefore allowing the pending job loss catastrophe to go ahead. 💥This is an opportunity for us. If PC MPPs don’t want to have any part in blocking a Bill that was going to save hundreds of thousands of jobs then why doesn’t the PC Government bring its own Bill and save all those jobs? Using Government majority they can do so within a week and save countless Ontarians from unemployment. If PC MPPs want to distance themselves from the human catastrophe that’s about to unfold, then they should bring their own Bill now and prevent it from taking place. Tell Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton – Bring Your Own Bill or BYOB! Our pressure worked. We need to build on our efforts and force PC MPPs to act. Our petition, Choice Should Not Lead to Unemployment is a few signatures shy of 150,000. Let’s double or triple that number and show all Parties that we can organize and that we will not forgive the massive unemployment that they are about to cause. After a four month summer break and one week of Parliament, MPPs are off again this week. Don’t let their staff tell you that they are too busy. I now ask that you help me and help all of us by doing the following three things:
1. Find your MPP and their constituency office telephone number. You can find your MPP by postal code at https://voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca/en/election/search?mode=postalCode. Call their Constituency Office and tell their staff that you want to speak to the MPP for 15 minutes to ask if he or she will permit you or a loved one to lose a job. Tell staff that the MPP is off this week and that you will not accept that they are too busy to hear about your potential job loss.
2. Write one short email to your MPP’s Constituency email, monte.mcnaughtonco@pc.ola.org and premier@ontario.ca and tell them in 1-2 paragraphs how you or your loved one is facing termination and ask them to Bring Your Own Bill (#BYOB).
3. We can now see our strength in numbers. We need to triple and quadruple our numbers to show electoral and organizational strength. We can do so by adding names .
4. to the Petition: Choice Should Not Lead to Unemployment. Please circulate it to your friends and co-workers and tell them that the pressure if getting to PC MPPs, and we need to grow our numbers to protect our jobs. Tell them to sign the petition.
I know how Doug Ford thinks. I know that Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton and all PC MPPs are afraid that the pending job loss will cost them re-election.
