Trump lawyer Sidney Powell wins dismissal of ethics case:
The so-called “Kraken” of the legal system has won a personal and professional victory in the Lone Star State.
On Thursday, a Dallas-based court of appeals upheld a trial court decision that decided against any form of discipline for attorney Sidney Powell over her November 2020 lawsuits that sought “to prevent the certification of election results in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin.”
In early 2023, the case was tossed on a defense motion to dismiss because of mislabeled evidence and several other deficiencies.
A three-judge panel of Democratic Party judges said the problems with the case against Powell were even worse than that.

Jake Sullivan, President Biden’s National Security Adviser, got additional scrutiny on social media this weekend over a 2023 tweet suggesting the Middle East was “quiet” after Iran conducted the first direct attack on Israel.
“What we said is [we] want to depressurize, de-escalate and ultimately integrate the Middle East region,” Sullivan said at The Atlantic Festival on Sept. 29.
“The war in Yemen is in its 19th month of truce. For now, the Iranian attacks against U.S. forces have stopped. Our presence in Iraq is stable. I emphasize for now because all of that can change and the Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades,” he added.
Since that speech, Hamas has launched a deadly terrorist strike against Israel, killing over 1,000 people, and Iran launched its first direct attack on Israel over the weekend, using hundreds of drones and missiles.
Sullivan’s comment garnered harsh condemnation from social media users.
“This is who is running Biden’s foreign policy,” the Republican National Committee wrote on X.
“Hard to believe, but this was 6 months ago,” Middle East Institute Senior Fellow Charles Lister wrote on X.
“Jake Sullivan has been attached to some of our biggest foreign disasters, including Benghazi,” journalist Sharyl Attkisson posted on X. “Who knows why he continues to achieve high positions making more mistakes.”
“Biden’s Administration: Full of liars!” Leo Terrell, a Fox News contributor, posted on X.
Former United States Army Reserve lieutenant, author, and commentator Tony Schaffer wrote on X that Sullivan is a “moron extraordinaire” who promotes a “utopian fantasy.”
Sullivan has been embroiled in a number of scandals in recent years, many of which have been raised by conservatives on social media in light of his Middle East remarks, notably the Biden administration’s disastrous exit from Afghanistan.
In the days following the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, Sullivan and the State Department were chastised for failing to specify how many Americans had been left behind.
In 2021, the top oversight Republican in Congress asked for Sullivan’s dismissal from his job due to his role in the “epicenter” of disastrous foreign policy decisions over the prior decade, including the Benghazi terror attack that murdered three American contractors and a US ambassador.
Sullivan worked as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s deputy chief of staff and policy adviser at the State Department during the 2012 attack on the US Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.

Comic Kyle Lucey explains how he was canceled over a joke about his own childhood:
Stand-up comedian Kyle Lucey is facing cancellation after fellow comedians hurled insults at protesters who were offended by a joke about Lucey’s own childhood.
When the coronavirus lockdown hit and comedy clubs around the world were forced to close, Lucy did what a select few comedians like to do, and the comedian was on an upward trajectory as a top comic. was. bert kreischer and Ben Bankas did: He took his talents outdoors.
During an outdoor comedy show, a passerby took serious offense at one of his most personal jokes and decided to disrupt the set.
“We were playing a show in a park and people came up to me and pushed over my amp because I was making a joke,” Lucy quickly recalled.
“A lot of my comedy comes from my own personal trauma. That’s why I was making jokes about my mother sexually assaulting me, which is a very true story and a very hurtful one. It’s a simple story, and one that took me years to understand.”It was easy to talk about,” he explained.

To make matters worse, Lucy said not only was she not professionally involved with the other alleged comedian, the same person had also made threats against him on other occasions.
“Imagine if I were someone other than white, and other demographics were brave enough to talk about sexual assault, but were turned away from the room because no one wanted to investigate. Imagine canceling, based on the words of another person who literally threatened me with death threats online,” Manga said.
As venues face harassment for booking the comedian, Lucy notes that progressive “Antifa” types are criticizing him for speaking out about his experiences, contrary to their own doctrine. I noticed that.

“If he wants to run again, he should start wearing pants in public,” Lucy joked.
The comedian doesn’t think the general public is becoming radicalized, nor does he want freedom of speech trampled on to get him cancelled. In fact, he called the very idea of shaming comedians a “radicalized” thought.
“Most of the people you talk to don’t endorse the radicalized ideology of policing and shaming. I think most people exist within the law…Who agrees with this? There aren’t any.”
The comedian said that in order to be successful, there should be no censorship of art. Creativity doesn’t occur when everything is watered down to pre-approved messages.
“What a strange and boring world it would be if you went to a museum and all the pictures were flowers. It would be too pretty.”
Barring some off-topic comments, Lucy concluded, “There’s just too much order and it just feels suffocating.”

In between errands today I listened to an excellent interview with Scott Ritter: INTERVIEW: Scott Ritter - Iran vs Israel: What’s Next? Obviously, Scott gets into the various possible scenarios going forward, especially what form any Israeli “retaliation” might take. Scott leans toward the view—which he presents very articulately—that Israel is in a box and will find it very difficult to retaliate at all. Scott addresses this from a military standpoint.
Judge Nap and Max Blumenthal address the turmoil—very real—within the Israeli war cabinet over these issues. All agree that Iran called the Israeli bluff by responding militarily to the Israeli attack on a diplomatic establishment. Israel had not thought ahead and asked, ‘What if?’
Scott also points to the much bigger implications of what Iran did. April 14th represented a kind of High Noon for more than just Israel. It was an existential challenge to the entire framework on which America’s imperial power projection is based. Check it out:
What the Americans overlaid over Israel on April 14th was basically a picture perfect theater ballistic missile defense system. It's the same kind of system that we assure our European allies will protect them from Russian missiles.
It's the same system that we assure our Japanese and South Korean allies will protect them from North Korean missiles. It's the same system that we assure our Taiwanese allies and regional allies will protect them from Chinese missiles.
And yet what the Iranians proved is that they can not only hit any target on the land but they will sink any target at sea. This means American aircraft carriers. What protects American aircraft carriers? The same ballistic missile defense architecture that Iran just penetrated.

This changes everything. This puts America in Checkmate globally. We--not just Israel--have lost Deterrence Supremacy. That's the game changing moment here, because the United States has based [its entire] military power projection on the notion of the technological superiority of America's ballistic missile defense shield.
And the Iranians just proved that it's not infallible. It can be defeated. The North Koreans have similar technology, the Chinese have similar technology, the Russians have similar technology. That means that America is vulnerable to all of its potential adversaries.
This was High Noon played out before the entire world. Obviously the result doesn’t necessarily put the American homeland at risk—except, perhaps, from Russia. The US retains nuclear superiority over all other countries except Russia.
Nevertheless, short of nuclear strikes, it does mean that the American Empire will have to seriously rethink its traditional ways of intimidating countries around the world. The days of aircraft carrier diplomacy are probably numbered. The US should probably think twice before sailing an aircraft carrier through the Taiwan Strait unless it’s ready to escalate to nuclear war.
From this standpoint, it’s easy enough to see why the US—and its NATO allies—are desperate to talk Israel out of retaliation against Iran. What if, asks Scott, Iran manages to shoot down some F-16s or F-35s?
What message will that send to the rest of the world, which is even now digesting the meaning of Iran’s successful penetration of the most sophisticated extant missile defense system in the world? It appears to me that the US is being nudged toward an exit from the Middle East in whatever face-saving manner that the Empire can devise. Which leaves Israel in the unenviable position of having to treat other Middle Eastern countries as equals.

Through its criminal behavior toward the Palestinian civilians in Gaza, Israel has lost the support of much of the world, putting the United States in a position where it will see its already-tarnished reputation irreparably damaged, at a time when the world is transitioning from a period of American-dominated singularity to a BRICS-driven multipolarity, and the US needs to retain as much clout in the so-called “global south” as possible.

US bases in Europe, the Pacific and the Middle East once thought to be well-protected, have suddenly been revealed to be vulnerable to hostile attack. So, too, are US Navy ships operating at sea.
