Do you ever feel oppressed by the darkness that surrounds us on so many fronts?
Darkness from the political sphere where there is not one good choice for a leader from mainstream parties who respects life from conception to natural death; darkness from big government threatening fundamental rights and freedoms in the name of keeping citizens “safe”; darkness from the culture of death that is devouring the young through abortion and the old through euthanasia; darkness from much of the entertainment industry that offers us enjoyment at the cost of Gospel values.
Everywhere, we are surrounded by an ever-encroaching darkness.
But, as children of light (1 Thes. 5:5), following Christ who is the Light, we have nothing to fear. “The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).
I recently encountered some encouraging words from the very short letter of Jude.
He writes the following to the children of light (and that means to you and me): “But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
The four action words are: build, pray, love, and wait.
That’s it.
That is what we have to do during these dark times.
Stay strong in the Lord and keep the faith!

Goes ballistic on media for ignoring blatant attack on family church service
A Portland, Oregon, mother is making headlines after she crashed a Don't Shoot PDX press conference in the Rose City and castigated the media for ignoring the recent attack on a family prayer service.
Jamee Anatello said that she and her family — including five children — were attending the early August prayer service at Tom McCall Park in Portland when a vast group of black-clad Antifa members showed up and began throwing flash grenades into the crowd.
One of the grenades, Anatello said, nearly struck her 8-month-old daughter in the face, the Christian Post reported.
"I've always judged the events really well," she told the outlet of the event, a church service led by controversial Canada-based Pastor Artur Pawlowski. "What's safe to take my kids to, what's not. It never once crossed my mind that this would be an event [Antifa] would show up."
The local media, Anatello said, largely ignored the attacks and zeroed in on the purported presence of the Proud Boys.

Democrats Absent as Bombs Rock Kabul,
Harming U.S. Soldiers, Killing Afghans:
The House of Representatives gathered for a few hours this week to advance part of the Democrats’ internal policy platform; then, they adjourned as terror threats escalated. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi scarcely mentioned the Afghan problem.
With Congress also absent, Despot Biden is forced to cope with dangers to individuals attempting to flee Afghanistan, such as a terrorist incident on the Kabul airfield on Thursday. As per a US official, there’s also a gunfight with Afghan fatalities at the bombing site outside of the Abbey Gate. At least three soldiers from the United States were injured.
Suicide bombings are a constant and serious concern. Traveling to Kabul Hamid Karzai Airport Terminal is not recommended. If you’re near the airport, get out of there and go somewhere secure, the US government advised citizens on Tuesday.
Like the Prime Minister of CANADA’s advice to those left behind… “Stay inside”!

Last week, a CBS News YouGov survey says that those who voted for Joe Biden are far less inclined than Trump fans to be watching the recall carefully and to be eager to participate. Registered Democrats and Independents were roughly 30 percent less likely than conservatives in a Berkeley-IGS poll to report a strong desire to vote in the election.

Canada ends Kabul rescue flights, texts those left behind to stay indoors:
“I understand [?] the heartbreak of those who were not able to get out,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said to reporters on Thursday as the last Canadian evacuation flight left Kabul, capping weeks of effort.
Hours after the flight departed, two suicide bombings struck civilians and American soldiers outside Kabul’s airport, inflicting multiple casualties and disrupting the final days of the U.S.-led evacuation mission.
Those who lost their lives included children and 13 U.S. troops. Afghan health officials were quoted as saying at least 90 civilians died, but it was not clear whether that was a complete count.
