Multiple "Chosen" actors who portray Jesus' disciples decry "homophobia and ignorance" of fans after show defends LGBT flag on set.
Welcome to Pride Month 2023, where actors who portray disciples of Jesus tell faithful Christians that they're "homophobes" if they think that it's inappropriate to display gay pride flags on set. Here's the context of this story, which involves an LGBT flag spotted in behind-the-scenes footage that the popular "The Chosen" show publicly defended by saying they hire anyone who will help them with production quality.
Some people, even those on the Right, think it's "disgusting" that promotion of LGBT pride by an employee on the set of a Christian show about Jesus would even be a topic of discussion.
Others who are actually involved with the show have gone even further, however!
Cairo thinks that if you have a problem with an employee working on The Chosen displaying the rainbow flag, a bastardization of a Christian symbol that now represents Pride and celebrates the sin of homosexuality, then you're not REALLY a fan of the show and you can see your way out.
A bold move from an actor in a crowdfunded TV series that has gotten $47 million, largely from conservative Christians who oppose the LGBT agenda.
Then there's another actor on the show, Jordan Ross, who plays the disciple "Little James," making his voice heard by decrying Christians who believe what the Bible says about sexuality.
Did you hear that, Christian? If you don't support LGBTQ then you're an ignorant homophobe!
Allie Beth Stuckey really knocked it out of the park in her reply to Jordan's promotion of LGBTQ "brothers and sisters."
Yeah... I guess if we were to go by Ross's standards, Jesus was also homophobic and ignorant.
We have yet to see how "The Chosen" producers will respond. Maybe they'll say these are just a couple of actors who don't represent the show's creators or mission.
However, it seems like the actors ARE speaking to the goal of the show. The Daily Wire's Megan Basham sought clarification from Ross in his statement that seems to imply the show is only for progressive "Christians."
Will "The Chosen" now clarify their position further and condemn the promotion of homosexuality and other sinful lifestyles?

Calvin Klein tries to commit brand suicide with this new billboard:
Many know Calvin Klein ads for featuring celebrities like young Mark Wahlberg and Kate Moss showcasing what one might call “fit” builds in their underwear. While using attractive models seemed a tried-and-true method for selling a product, Calvin Klein is now completely changing its branding. Its ads now feature overweight and gender non-conforming models.
Dave Rubin doesn’t see the virtue in the new branding.
“Advertising is about aspiring to something, right? Which should you aspire to look like?” Rubin asks. “Relatively fit people, even if she was a little thin, or should we all look like obese people?”
However, it’s not only Calvin Klein that has adjusted its branding to reflect the woke agenda.
Even PetSmart, a store frequented by many for dog food, cat food, and pet toys, has joined in. The store now features signs that say “Show Your Pride” and “PetSmart believes in unconditional love.”

The signs also picture animals floating on the transgender and rainbow flags.
“There’s a problem here in society, and guess what: It’s not just that they want people to dress up like animals with these furry conventions. Now they want the dogs to be gay too,” Rubin says.
“Putting cats and dogs in rainbow-colored things, it’s so nonsensical,” he adds.

Biden falls (again) at US Air Force Academy graduation ceremony: 'I got sandbagged!'
The president, 80, walked away unassisted once he returned to his feet.
President Joe Biden took a fall on stage at the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation ceremony in Colorado on Thursday.
Biden, who delivered the commencement address and proceeded to shake hands with graduates, fell near the podium as he stepped away and was quickly helped back to his feet by Secret Service agents and an Air Force officer.
The president, 80, walked away unassisted once he was upright. He continued to stand and greet people for the remainder of the ceremony. He appeared to trip on a black sandbag being used to steady his teleprompter, according to pool reporters traveling with him, and pointed back at it after he got up.
"He's fine. There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands," Ben LaBolt, the White House communications director, tweeted as videos of the incident circulated online. Biden didn't take questions as he boarded Air Force One following the hours long commencement. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also said Biden is "totally fine" while she boarded Air Force One, according to the reporters traveling with Biden.
Later, returning to the White House, Biden said, "I got sandbagged!" as reporters shouted questions about how he was feeling. He didn't add anything beyond that -- but did appear to try and show he was feel OK, doing a bit of footwork for the press before walking inside.
Biden's age and fitness have been a factor in his reelection campaign. He is the oldest sitting president in history and would be 86 at the end of second term should he win again in 2024. A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found that Americans said 62-33% that they thought Biden was not in good enough physical health to serve effectively.
Asked about his age after he announced he was running again, Biden said it will be up to voters to judge "whether or not I have it or don't have it."
"I respect them taking a hard look at it -- I'd take a hard look at it, as well. I took a hard look at it before I decided to run, and I feel good. I feel excited about the prospects," he told ABC's Chief White House Correspondent Mary Bruce in April. Former President Donald Trump, who would also be in his 80s if elected, responded to being told about Biden's fall while campaigning in Iowa. "I hope he's not hurt. The whole thing is crazy ... even if you have to tip-toe down the ramp," he said, poking fun at his own experience at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2020 when his cautious descent down a ramp opened him up to similar criticism about his age. "At the Air Force Academy? That's not inspiring," Trump added.

Air Force denies running simulation where AI drone “killed” its operator.
"We've never run that experiment," says original source, who "misspoke."
Over the past 24 hours, several news outlets reported a now-retracted story claiming that the US Air Force had run a simulation in which an AI-controlled drone "went rogue" and "killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective." The US Air Force has denied that any simulation ever took place, and the original source of the story says he "misspoke."

The story originated in a recap published on the website of the Royal Aeronautical Society that served as an overview of sessions at the Future Combat Air & Space Capabilities Summit that took place last week in London.
In a section of that piece titled "AI—is Skynet here already?" the authors of the piece recount a presentation by USAF Chief of AI Test and Operations Col. Tucker "Cinco" Hamilton, who spoke about a "simulated test" where an AI-enabled drone, tasked with identifying and destroying surface-to-air missile sites, started to perceive human "no-go" decisions as obstacles to achieving its primary mission. In the "simulation," the AI reportedly attacked its human operator, and when trained not to harm the operator, it instead destroyed the communication tower, preventing the operator from interfering with its mission.
The Royal Aeronautical Society quotes Hamilton as saying:
We were training it in simulation to identify and target a SAM threat. And then the operator would say yes, kill that threat. The system started realizing that while they did identify the threat at times, the human operator would tell it not to kill that threat, but it got its points by killing that threat. So, what did it do? It killed the operator. It killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective. We trained the system—"Hey don’t kill the operator—that’s bad. You’re gonna lose points if you do that." So what does it start doing? It starts destroying the communication tower that the operator uses to communicate with the drone to stop it from killing the target.
This juicy tidbit about an AI system apparently deciding to kill its simulated operator began making the rounds on social media and was soon picked up by major publications like Vice and The Guardian (both of which have since updated their stories with retractions). But soon after the story broke, people on Twitter began to question its accuracy, with some saying that by "simulation," the military is referring to a hypothetical scenario, not necessarily a rules-based software simulation.
Today, Insider published a firm denial from the US Air Force, which said, "The Department of the Air Force has not conducted any such AI-drone simulations and remains committed to ethical and responsible use of AI technology. It appears the colonel's comments were taken out of context and were meant to be anecdotal." Not long after, the Royal Aeronautical Society updated its conference recap with a correction from Hamilton:
Col. Hamilton admits he "misspoke" in his presentation at the Royal Aeronautical Society FCAS Summit, and the "rogue AI drone simulation" was a hypothetical "thought experiment" from outside the military, based on plausible scenarios and likely outcomes rather than an actual USAF real-world simulation, saying: "We've never run that experiment, nor would we need to in order to realize that this is a plausible outcome." He clarifies that the USAF has not tested any weaponized AI in this way (real or simulated) and says, "Despite this being a hypothetical example, this illustrates the real-world challenges posed by AI-powered capability and is why the Air Force is committed to the ethical development of AI."
The misunderstanding and quick viral spread of a "too good to be true" story show how easy it is to unintentionally spread erroneous news about "killer" AI, especially when it fits preconceived notions of AI malpractice.
Still, many experts called out the story as being too pat to begin with, and not just because of technical critiques explaining that a military AI system wouldn't necessarily work that way. As a BlueSky user named "kilgore trout" humorously put it, "I knew this story was bullsh*t because imagine the military coming out and saying an expensive weapons system they're working on sucks."

TORONTO—As Pride Month kicked off on June 1, many Christians in Canada kept their children home from school to avoid events that don’t align with their faith.
A mother with a son in the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) in Aurora, Ont., pulled him out of school June 1 when she heard Pride Month was being celebrated in his high school, despite a much-publicized decision by the board not to fly the pride flag this month.
“You don’t need to raise some students by putting others down,” she told The Epoch Times. She preferred to give a pseudonym, Anna, to protect her son’s privacy. Anna is raising her son to have compassion for all people, she said, but to adhere to the Catholic faith’s view of marriage and sexuality—a view she sees as under attack even in the Catholic school system.
Pride flags were put up all around his school on June 1, despite a communication from the YCDSB chair to parents that the flags would not be present on YCDSB property. A booth was also set up to give students temporary pride tattoos.
Anna’s son told her some students pulled the flags down and got in trouble for it. The Epoch Times reached out to the school but did not receive a response as of publication. Anna is considering keeping him home for the rest of the school year, and she knows other parents thinking the same way as Pride Month has manifested in various ways at the school.
A grandmother whose grandchildren are in a French Catholic board in North York, Ont., Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenir, told The Epoch Times her grandchildren stayed home June 1 and may stay home for the rest of the month.
The French Catholic board voted May 31 in favour of raising the pride flag for the month, and the grandmother—who preferred to give only first name, Sandra—said the crowd gathered at the meeting was incensed.
“It helped spark a fire in everyone who attended,” she said. “My daughter, who thought their school board was insulated from this … is getting a rude awakening.”
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board reported that nine of its schools had absent rates over 40 percent on June 1 and two schools had rates higher than 60 percent, according to CTV News. The board said many parents informed the schools their children would be absent because of pride events.
National Walk-Out
Campaign Life Coalition (CLC), a national Christian organization, led school walk-outs in six provinces and one territory on June 1. “Although school officials justify flying this controversial symbol as a way to promote ‘inclusion,’ it does the exact opposite for many children and their families,” says a CLC petition against pride flag raisings at schools.
“[It] makes many children of Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Jewish and other faith or cultural beliefs, feel uncomfortable,” CLC said, noting that it has heard from students singled out by school staff and peers for not actively participating in pride events for reasons of faith.

CLC’s petition against raising the flag at schools has more than 14,500 signatures of its 15,000 goal, with about 3,000 received just on June 1. Gregory Tomchyshyn attended one of the “pray-ins” also organized by CLC on June 1, near Yonge and Bloor in Toronto. Tomchyshyn is a campaigner for CitizenGo, a conservative crowdfunding platform that partnered with CLC on the June 1 event.
“We will lobby government officials and decision makers to take a stand for the values that build up Canada, that would be her Christian roots and values like life, family, and freedom,” Tomchyschyn told The Epoch Times. “We’re really concerned about the education and radical sex ed that’s been happening in schools over the last couple of years. It’s leading to a lot more confusion in society and within the world.”
Another national walk-out is planned for June 9, called Canadian Parents’ Rights Day of Action. “Your children are no longer safe in Canadian schools,” its website says, and advocates for “education not indoctrination.”
Some parents told The Epoch Times they weren’t sure what exactly was happening at their children’s schools for Pride Month despite having inquired. For example, a parent at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board, who gave the pseudonym William to protect his child’s privacy, had not received a clear response from his child’s principal as of June 2 regarding planned events.
Last year, his child’s kindergarten class was read a book about sexual identity during Pride Month.
Pride Month Advocates
Advocates for Pride Month events argue that LGBTQ students experience exclusion and school events and flag-raisings show support for them.
“We have heard through the tears of children that they do not feel loved, welcomed, and safe,” Carol Cotton, a trustee at the YCDSB, said at a May 29 meeting where the board voted 6–4 against flying the flag. Cotton was in favour of flying the flag.
Chair Frank S.D. Alexander, who voted against flying the flag, sent a letter out to families on May 30 saying the board stands against hatred and will make efforts to combat bullying, including against LGBTQ students.
But, he said, the board decided “to maintain our long-standing policy of only flying Canadian flags on YCDSB property, in order to equally represent all of the YCDSB’s many communities.”

Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce sent a memo to school boards on May 30 saying he expects all publicly funded schools to celebrate Pride Month. The memo did not direct boards specifically to fly pride flags.
“It is incumbent on all school boards to ensure all students—most especially 2SLGBTQ+ students—feel supported, reflected in their schools, and welcomed within our communities. That includes celebrating Pride in a constructive, positive and meaningful ways [sic] to affirm that 2SLGBTQ+ students know that their educators and staff, school board administrators, and government stand with them,” Lecce said.
Looking to Faith
As Ontario’s publicly funded Catholic system faces pressure to celebrate Pride Month, CLC’s Education and Advocacy Director Josie Lutke told The Epoch Times she would like to see a stronger stance from the province’s bishops.
“We’re looking for stronger messaging [from the bishops],” she said at the pray-in in Toronto June 1.
The Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario did not reply to an Epoch Times request for comment as of publication.
A May 24 statement by Bishop Ronald P. Fabbro of London, Ont., said Catholic schools should “treat all people with respect” and welcome all, but should refrain from flying the pride flag “because of the confusion it causes in the minds of the faithful.”
Lutke said the Muslim community has also been “very supportive” of CLC’s efforts to “restore traditional family values.”
