Bank of Canada bigwigs got $20 million in bonuses, raises despite hiking interest rate seven times:

Bank of Canada bureaucrats received $20 million in bonuses last year despite record-high inflation and seven interest rate hikes.
The Crown corporation also gave out over $6 million in pay raises in 2022.
“Bonuses are for people who do a good job, not people who fail at their one and only job,” said Franco Terrazzano, Federal Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF).
“Most organizations don’t shower employees with bonuses when they have their worst year in four decades.”
The average bonus was $11,200 and 80% of the Bank of Canada’s workforce received one.
Despite the Bank of Canada’s mandate to keep inflation hovering at 2%, a 40-year record high 6.8% in 2022 wasn’t enough to convince the Bank’s executives to hold off from doling out millions in bonuses.
Now that the Bank of Canada has hiked the interest rate to 5%, some are concerned that recent Canadian homebuyers are at risk of defaulting on their mortgages, even though the Bank of Canada’s Governor, Tiff Macklem, predicted last summer “This is not what we expect to happen.”
In November 2020, Macklem made the terrible prediction that inflation would remain “less than 2% into 2023.”
Macklem admitted in 2022 that “we got some things wrong,” and the deputy governor acknowledged “we haven’t managed to keep inflation at our target.”
49% of the Bank of Canada workforce, which is approximately 1,095 staff members, makes over $100,000 a year.
“Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland should find savings by ending bonuses at failing Crown corporations like the Bank of Canada,” said Terrazzano.

Bank of Canada raises key interest rate to 5%, highest since 2001:
The Bank of Canada is warning that inflation rates could stall around 3 per cent for the next year, before hitting the 2-per-cent target by the middle of 2025. Wednesday’s rate hike, with which interest rates hit 5 per cent, brings the policy rate to a level not seen since April, 2001.
Consumer spending, the job market and the housing market have not responded to rate hikes in the way analysts expected. Population growth, a tight labour market, accumulated savings and spending by the federal and provincial governments are among the explanations the BoC pointed to for the resilience to high interest rates. Delinquency rates for household debt are rising but they’re still lower than prepandemic. Meanwhile mortgage delinquencies are near all-time lows, even for households with a variable-rate mortgage.
The bank didn’t give away any hints about future rate decisions, but BoC governor Tiff Macklem did not close the door to future hikes.
”If new information suggests we need to do more, we are prepared to increase our policy rate further. But we don’t want to do more than we have to.”

Why Is Big Capital Ditching the “Social, Environment, Governance” ESG Agenda?
The environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda once had the staunch backing of billionaires, Western governments and the United Nations. Big Capital, however, is backtracking from the very Frankenstein it had created. What are the reasons behind this volte-face?
In a June 10 Tweet, Elon Musk, the embodiment of the electric vehicle (EV) revolution, declared that “ESG is the devil”.
ESG stands for the “environmental, social and governance” principles which dictate that certain aspects of a company’s work must be taken into account when deciding whether to invest in it. An investment-worthy company must have a good score on things like climate change, sustainability, energy efficiency, diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as corruption and bribery prevention, among others.
Musk’s outburst was sparked by the shockingly low ESG scores assigned to Tesla by S&P Global, a ratings and market intelligence heavyweight. Tesla earned 37 points (out of a possible 100, where anything above 70 is considered “good” and anything below 50 is deemed “poor”) on its ESG scorecard while Philip Morris, the global tobacco giant, received a commendable score of 84. Similarly, as the Washington Free Beacon discovered, the London Stock Exchange gave British American Tobacco a score of 94.
Perhaps, lighting up 20.3 billion tobacco products daily worldwide does wonders for the environment and sustainability.
The ESG turnabout wasn’t entirely unexpected. I had even published a recent analysis on how the World Economic Forum (WEF) and its factotums would ultimately take the fall for our crumbling liberal-globalist order. Musk is just one among a growing number of stalwarts to turn their backs on the global ESG train wreck. Insurance behemoth Lloyd’s of London recently announced that it was exiting from the net-zero alliance for insurers, and it was the sixth such organisation to do so within a week. There are good reasons for this shift. For starters, hundreds of ESG managers were stung by the recent collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank which had prioritized woke agendas over the security of their depositors.
The ESG agenda effectively forces firms to sacrifice business logic in favour of liberal lunacies marked by gender dysphoria, pseudo-diversity and climate militancy. As banks promoting this mania get bankrupted, one wonders how ESG initiatives are going to be funded down the line. Investment behemoths like BlackRock, Vanguard and State Street (aka Big Capital) are leading the global ESG rollback. The trio manage assets worth $22 trillion worldwide, amounting to a quarter of the global GDP, and they can no longer pander to socialist pies-in-the-sky. Big Capital thrives on trillion-dollar profits, not trillions of social media soundbites and hissy-fits.
“By 2030, poor performers [will] have been weeded out and consistent non-compliance will be met with severe consequences including penalties, public naming, a prohibition to operate and even imprisonment. The C-Suite and Directors will now be personally liable for ESG breaches.”
Does anyone really believe that the Big Four (Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PwC) will agitate for punitive actions against their sacred cows? Big Capital virtually owns them. Even the British government plans to drop its flagship £11.6bn climate pledge, prompting an infuriated Guardian to accuse Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of “betraying populations most vulnerable to global heating”. Just what exactly is “global heating”?
Incidentally, KPMG had provided Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank (another failed entity) with a clean bill of health just weeks before their collapse. Neither the professorial definition of The Science TM nor the science of accounting added up in these cases. These champions of sustainability are also unable to sustain themselves as they have begun firing thousands of employees.
Incidentally, Sri Lanka had a near-perfect ESG score of 98 before its economy collapsed.
I will now provide six big reasons why the ESG agenda is doomed.
1. Renewable Chimeras
Renewable energy – a cornerstone of the ESG agenda – is not as clean, eco-friendly, efficient or as sustainable as advocates claim it to be.
2. Human Rights Abuses, Poverty and Food Insecurity
The EV boom is significantly fueled by underpaid, underfed and underaged cobalt miners.
3. Freeloader Anarchists
With the ESG gravy train trundling to a halt, freeloading activists may escalate their direct actions.
4. Anal Science
Eco-anarchists who regularly invoke “The Science” somehow miss the low hanging fruits. One such ripe picking is in the area of toilet paper production and usage.
5. BRICS Multipolar Order
There is a geopolitical dimension to Big Capital’s U-turn on ESG.
6. Policy Traps for the Emerging World
While Big Capital dials down its social justice commitments, much of the emerging world will be stuck with ESG-dictated policy commitments and grant allocations that will rapidly lose relevance in a VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) world.

Dr. Gal Luft made an appearance on video for an interview with the New York Post’s Marinda Devine last week during which he claimed he’s the victim of a political hit job in retaliation for his efforts to warn government officials about the Biden family’s influence-peddling schemes.
Luft, who actually has the expertise in the energy sector to provide advice, worked with Hunter Biden in China back when Joe Biden was Vice President in the Obama administration.
The think tank founder says he came forward as a whistleblower when he realized Joe Biden was planning to run for President.
“I, who volunteered to inform the US government about a potential security breach and about compromising information about a man vying to be the next President, am now being hunted by the very same people who I informed—and may have to live on the run for the rest of my life,” Luft explained in the interview.

Luft apparently had a ringside seat when Hunter Biden first started schmoozing with the China Energy Fund Committee members back in 2015.
By 2017 Hunter Biden had more than $5 million wired into his accounts by the organization—apparently after making some gangster-style threats as revealed by text messages provided as evidence before the US House Ways and Means Committee.
Meanwhile, Luft, who had met with Federal prosecutors and FBI agents, ended up a wanted man.
A Manhattan indictment unsealed this week shows that Luft is facing federal charges of arms trafficking, operating as an unregistered lobbyist for China, and planning to ignore US sanctions on Iran.
No doubt, if he’s caught Joe Biden’s Justice Department will throw everything it has at Luft.
The vast difference between how Luft and Hunter Biden are being treated is already glaringly obvious.
Hunter Biden recently agreed to a plea deal that conveniently left off a felony over his failure to register as a federal agent.
However, Luft is being slapped with that felony charge and more over accusations he planned to pay off a former high-ranking US official.
Compensation? A mere $350,000 compared to Hunter’s millions.
Republican Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin is among those who don’t buy the idea that Luft is guilty.
“When he heard that Joe Biden was gonna be running for President that alarmed him because he knew how compromised Joe Biden would be,” Senator Johnson explained during an appearance on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures. “So, he met with two prosecutors from the Southern District of New York and four FBI agents in Brussels for two days in March of 2018.”
Johnson then pointed out that the government officials Luft was depending on to do the right thing have since proven themselves compromised.
“What’s interesting about those individuals, one of the prosecutors from the Southern District of New York is the same prosecutor that prosecuted Patrick Ho—the money launderer that paid Hunter Biden a million dollars to defend him, and in that trial, he prevented the name of Biden’s from being brought into court,” Sen. Johnson added.
“Also one of the FBI agents was the same agent then that signed the subpoena from the Hunter Biden laptop,” he continued.
Johnson says it’s clear Federal agents should have been collecting a “wealth of information from Luft” rather than punishing him.
“Instead, they arrested him in Cyprus to silence him. They could have gone to Israel. He resides in Israel. We have extradition treaties, but they instead arrest him in Cyprus,” Johnson said. “Now he’s literally fleeing for his life right now. He’s, he’s on the run. He’s an important witness. He needs to be granted immunity to be able to testify and tell his story.”
But with the people Luft was warning about firmly in power, that’s unlikely to happen.

If logic worked in politics, the question to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan should have been: Why has your country had so passionately sought out, in vain, membership in the European Union?
Erdoğan talks about an "evil West" but wants to become part of it -- perhaps to "improve" it? Why did Turkey send its 15,000 sons, only to greet with honor 700 dead soldiers in a war that took place 8,000 km away on the Korean Peninsula? Turkey has been a full member candidate for the EU since 1987, but the Korean military campaign earned it NATO membership in 1952.
Tennessee Soccer Coach Accused of Filming Himself Drugging, Raping Boys Admits He’s Illegal Alien:
The Franklin, Tennessee, Police Department confirms, that the man accused of filming himself while raping unconscious boys, whom he allegedly drugged, is himself an illegal alien living in the United States. Police confirmed on Wednesday, that Campos is an illegal alien who has lived in the area for about 20 years.
Reportedly, 63-year-old soccer coach, Camilo Hurtado Campos was arrested and charged in Franklin County this week for allegedly drugging, and sexually abusing multiple young boys from nine to 17-years-old. Allegedly, Campos filmed the assaults on his cellphone.
Campos was arrested after he left his phone at a local pizza parlor in Franklin County on June 22. Employees went through the phone to gather information about the owner. Staff said they found videos and photos of child sexual abuse and called the police. According to authorities-
“What they [staff] found, instead, were dozens of unconscionable videos and pictures of children, and so they called police,” …“During an immediate and tireless investigation, detectives found hundreds of disturbing videos and pictures on that phone,”... “In many of them, Campos recorded himself raping unconscious boys between approximately 9 and 17 years old.”

Reportedly, three of the 10 victims seen in the recorded sexual abuse, were initially identified by police, another five have come forward, to accuse Campos of drugging and raping them. According to police, Campos’s child sexual abuse likely dates back many years, as he allegedly frequently searched for boys to join his soccer team at local playgrounds and schools.
He is being held in Franklin County Jail at this time. Campos’s next court date is schedule for July 25th.

A Democratic Minnesota state representative found himself in deep legal trouble after a bizarre incident for which he was arrested last week.
According to the Daily Caller, state Rep. Dan Wolgamott (D) was arrested after state troopers caught him weaving in and out of traffic.
The police had been called to search for a man who had been drinking vodka in a parking lot by himself. After the parking lot, Wolgamott got behind the wheel and drove around intoxicated before he was finally stopped.
The Daily Caller noted:
Wolgamott failed the field sobriety tests and registered .106 in a preliminary breath test, which exceeds the legal limit of .080, the outlet reported. Police arrested him and booked him into the Kanabec County Jail on suspicion of fourth-degree DWI.
According to a report from MPR News, Wolgamott also had "an expired registration and lacked a front license plate."
The state patrol said in a press release, "After completing the processing for driving while impaired, a search warrant was obtained and Wolgamott provided a fluid sample," CBS News reported.
Kanabec County Attorney Barbara McFadden told the press that Wolgamott was released on personal recognizance on pending charges.
Wolgamott, a powerful state Democrat, was recently recognized by law enforcement as "legislator of the year."
The Daily Caller added:
Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association recently recognized Wolgamott, who took office in 2019, as legislator of the year, MPR reported. He currently serves as speaker pro tempore, giving him the power to serve as the state House’s presiding lawmaker.
Social media reacted to the news of Wolgamott's DWI arrest, with many suggesting that he'll escape any serious consequences due to his party affiliation.
One Twitter user wrote, "I am sure if he says he has Hunter on speed dial that he will be no charges."
"Another tweet also said he had expired tabs. Ironic since Dems voted to increase tab fees. These guys are a joke. Should resign. You know I can handle and forgive people who make a mistake, but I can't stand hypocrites," another Twitter user added.
Multiple media outlets have reached out to Wolgamott and his office regarding the incident, but they haven't responded. It's unclear when Wolgamott will face a judge.
