The world calls good evil, and applauds evil as good. Tragically, the result of those carnal beliefs is manifested in our young. Show me a rebellious child, and I will show you a child struggling under the weight of guilt from wrongs never dealt with.
In the ancient world, it was universally accepted that child-rearing involved correction. No parent relishes disciplining their child. Yet any parent who overrides the mandate of scripture to correct them has borrowed from the hope of the future to appease the demands of the moment. Discipline is a painful, but a necessary component for a healthy society. Without it, we cannot expect children to grow into adults respectful of God’s ordained authority in any sphere of life.
We must correct our children, but let’s teach them as we do it. King Solomon told his son, “I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in right paths” (Proverbs 4:10-11). The Hebrew word “taught” means to pour, lay a foundation, erect, or establish. Building strong foundations isn’t easy, but if we love our children, we will use instruction and discipline to develop the right way in their lives.
My earthly father corrected my wrongdoings; I am alive today because he did. And my heavenly Father is faithful to chastise me when needed. Mom and Dad, do you care enough about your child’s future to build their character by consistent, balanced, and patient discipline? I pray you do. Discipline is an affirmation of your love.

I have an idea for Christianvolunteers: "Storytime". Meet with the homeless and trade life stories. Get T-shirts with the slogan, "I'll tell you mine if you'll tell me yours". Record the conversations if possible to make them important. Maybe a Christian radio station will broadcast them.

Younger Canadians Reject Peacekeeping Role in Ukraine, Gaza:

Though involvement has diminished in recent decades, Canada has traditionally portrayed itself and operated as a peacekeeping nation since the Second World War.
Whether due to their efforts in the former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, or even going back to Lester B. Pearson’s instrumental and Nobel Peace Prize-winning role in de-escalating the 1956 Suez Crisis, the peacekeeper role became a core component of Canadians’ self-image.
But new polling for the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) shows that when it comes to the current major global conflicts — the Russia-Ukraine war and Israel’s war on the terror group Hamas — that peacekeeping image may not be as deeply rooted for all Canadians.
Jack Jedwab, ACS president and CEO, told National Post that in an era where mega powers like the U.S., Russia and China yield increasingly more influence, “there’s some work to be done to determine how we feel about our own self-image and our own role in terms of these global conflicts.”
In a web survey conducted by Leger Marketing on Labour Day weekend, Canadian respondents were asked how much they agreed with the idea of Canada deploying peacekeeping soldiers to either region in the event that agreements bring an end to hostilities.
In the case of the Eastern European setting, it found a slight majority (53 per cent) think “Canada should consider sending peacekeepers even if it involves risk to their safety.” The same percentage of Canadians, meanwhile, disagree with the notion of participating in keeping the peace in Israel and Gaza.
Broken down by age group, however, there’s a divide in sentiment when it comes to Canada’s post-war involvement.
In the event of a Russia-Ukraine peace, a slight majority (53 per cent) in age groups 18 to 54 disagree with Canada playing a role, whereas 55 per cent of the 55-64 cohort and 66 per cent of the 65-plus (34 per cent) crowd think Canada has a part to play.
Should peace be achieved between Israel and Hamas, only the 65-plus cohort (53 per cent) favours Canadian peacekeeping involvement. All those younger, including 57 per cent of the 18-24 group, disagreed.
“They’re more opposed to it in terms of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict than they are in terms of the Russia-Ukraine one, even though paradoxically there’s a lot more street and campus mobilization for the former one,” Jedwab said, “but that doesn’t necessarily translate into significant interest in supporting peacekeeping efforts.”

The survey also sought to understand how “directly affected” Canadians felt by either war relative to their American and European peers.

Canadians felt less directly affected overall and again, it was the younger cohorts that led the way, meeting or surpassing the national averages — including 66 per cent of the 18-24 group when asked about the Israel-Hamas war.
Jedwab said that while the same younger cohorts are often the ones leading public mobilization against Israel on streets and campuses, it may not paint an accurate picture.
“We need to be cautious and sort of put the street mobilization, which is not an insignificant thing, into that context,” he said..
As for why older cohorts are more engaged, he reasoned they’re likely getting their information from established sources and not relying on social media channels that are often “castigating” in how they present the news.
“It may also be a function of the perception, rightly or wrongly, that Canada can be more of a player in this thing,” he explained.
“To some degree, our perceptions around feeling affected are going to be influenced by the extent to which we actually think as Canadians we can have any impact on this, relative to say Europeans or Americans.”
Correlations between both sets of data for the two wars revealed that the more a respondent felt affected, the more they supported peacekeeping. Those who felt less affected were less willing to support it.
Jedwab concluded that while “it would be nice to see Canadians support” any future peace in either afflicted area, the results show that Ottawa could face a challenge because “Canadians seem to be rather divided about the matter.”The (Aug. 29-31) survey of 1,62 respondents was conducted via web panel and would have a comparative margin of error of +2.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20.

The role of expert social science evidence in constitutional litigation needs far more scrutiny. In the recent Fair Voting BC v Canada case, a misguided challenge to Canada’s voting system that claimed first-past-the-post violates the Charter right to vote and the right to equality, the Ontario Court of Appeal faced a massive record stuffed with reports from political scientists, mostly about how some countries’ electoral systems are “better” at ensuring more women and racial minorities are elected.

The court rightly observed that, unlike natural sciences, social science evidence is not inherently oriented to discovering the objective truth of some matter under investigation. Social science is concerned with human behaviour and has a significant normative dimension.
Often, what appears to be disinterested conceptual or empirical analysis is in fact the marshalling of facts and arguments to create a case for a policy change favoured by the academic, the Court explained. Human behaviour is complex, value-laden, and often inseparable from the policy preferences of the researcher. What may be presented as neutral data is often advocacy in academic garb.
“All of this is to say that the policy recommendations of those within the academic community must be evaluated by the soundness of their observations and arguments, and not by the sheer fact of their academic credentials,” Justice Grant Huscroft wrote for the majority. “Academic views are not entitled, a priori, to priority over anyone else’s.” In other words, arguments are to be assessed on their reasoning, not the resume of the author.
The court ultimately dismissed the challenge, affirming that Canada’s first-past-the-post system is constitutional. Yet the broader issue remains: social science evidence is everywhere in Charter litigation, and it often muddies more than it clarifies. Worse, the culture of “battling experts” inflates the already massive costs of constitutional litigation, putting justice further out of reach for ordinary Canadians.
The Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF), which regularly challenges unconstitutional laws, often faces government-funded reports from partisan academics. Governments are eager to spend taxpayer dollars hiring progressive academics to defend illegal laws. Consider the CCF’s challenge to Calgary’s so-called “Safe & Inclusive Access Bylaw,” which bans “specified protests” near public libraries.
The city filed an expert report from Kristopher Wells, a sitting senator with a PhD and Masters degree from the University of Alberta faculty of education.
Wells has no expertise in psychology or psychiatry, yet in his expert report opined on the “psychological harms” of exposure to undefined “anti-2SLGBTQIA+ speech,” and the report included citations to news reports and flawed studies.
Worst of all, as a sitting Trudeau-appointed Senator, Wells is a political partisan. He even publicly advocated for the bylaw after it was enacted, and specifically opined on its constitutionality in an op-ed. Court experts have a duty of neutrality, yet the city had no qualms about putting his evidence forward.
A similar problem arose recently in litigation against the Region of Waterloo’s “anti-bullying and harassment” bylaw. The CCF is challenging the bylaw for being de facto criminal law, outside the authority of the city to enact, and for violating the constitutional guarantee of freedom of expression.
In response, the region is attempting to rely on a sociologist whose report describes the Gadsden flag as a hate symbol, suggests that the 2022 Freedom Convoy’s term “Honk Honk” may secretly have also meant “Heil Hitler,” and implies that speech restrictions are needed to prevent “microagressions.”
Much of her proposed testimony deals with criminal hate speech, which we argue is outside Waterloo’s authority to regulate. Beyond being irrelevant, this testimony seems like an inflammatory attempt to buttress an unconstitutional bylaw by leaning on academic credentials.
The Court of Appeal’s warning in Fair Voting should be taken seriously. The Court noted that the expert reports before it were “replete with highly contestable policy arguments about which reasonable disagreement abounds, not only in the academic community but amongst the public at large.” It concluded that the record “demonstrates the shortcomings of constitutional litigation in addressing public policy disagreements.”
That conclusion reflects an uncomfortable truth: too often, governments use taxpayer dollars to commission reports from sympathetic academics to bolster weak laws, while civil society groups are forced to spend scarce resources rebutting them. The courtroom becomes an arena for duelling partisans rather than a forum for principled constitutional reasoning.
None of this means social science evidence is always irrelevant or unnecessary. But courts should treat it with skepticism, scrutinize the boundaries of expertise, and reject evidence that strays into advocacy or ideology. Policy debates are best left to elected representatives, where the public can hold them accountable.
Constitutional litigation should not be a contest of competing manifestos disguised as expert testimony. Judges should remember what the Ontario Court of Appeal emphasized: expertise does not transform contestable policy arguments into constitutional truths.
Courts should be vigilant in keeping constitutional adjudication grounded in law, not in partisan social science dressed up as fact. The integrity of the Constitution, and access to justice itself, depends on it.

Ontario School Violence is 15X Higher than Records Show!
While the Ministry of Education’s data showed violent incidents were up almost 80 per cent in seven years, Kuva, the president of CUPE 5100 at the Grand Erie District School Board, was surprised to find just 11 incidents reported in her board for the 2023-24 school year.
The difference between the numbers Kuva expected to see and the data the government was reporting came because the province applies an especially high threshold. The most egregious incidents, where a teacher is seriously injured or someone has a weapon, are reported to the province, but everyday violence is not.

In 1962, the Court examined a simple twenty-two word prayer, first used to negate prayer in schools:
“Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers, and our country.”
This simple prayer, said by children, acknowledged God. Americans’ indifference allowed the removal of prayer from our schools. This is but one of the steps toward complete destruction of America’s original Judeo-Christian educational system. This value-free environment hasresulted in chaos.

1. The educational standard of measure has been the SAT scores. SAT scores had be steady for many years before 1963. From 1963 they rapidly declined for 18 consecutive years, even though the same test has been used since 1941.
2. In 1974-75 the rate of decline of the SAT scores decreased, even though they continued to decline. That was when there was an explosion of private religious schools. There were only 1000 Christian schools in 1965. Between 1974 to 1984 they increased to 32,000.
a. That could have an impact if the private schools had higher SAT scores. In checking with the SAT Board it was found that indeed the SAT scores for private schools were nearly 100 points higher than public schools.
b. In fact the scores were at the point where the public schools had been before their decline started in 1963 when prayer and Bible reading/ instruction was removed from the schools.
c. The scores in the public schools were still declining.
3. Of the nation's top academic scholars, three times as many come from private religious schools, which operate on one-third the funds as do the public schools.
D. The Nation

It has been a rough week with the assassination of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA. Like many people in the America First movement, I was helped in finding my place in the political world because of Charlie and TPUSA. My tribute to Charlie can be read here.
In short, if I did not meet him all those years ago, I wouldn’t be writing to you now.
My story because who Charlie was is not unique. He inspired millions of conservatives and brought our beliefs to the other side of the aisle in spirited debates. Which is why his killing is so distressing. He was not causing chaos or physical harm; he was simply having a conversation.
In the time since Charlie’s death, we now know the suspected gunman reportedly talked about how Charlie was a "fascist" and was spreading “hate.” There is no doubt that the gunman killed Charlie because he did not like the views that the TPUSA espoused.
It is not surprising to see politicians appealing to be “united” in a horrible time such as this and to tone down the rhetoric about each other. If anything, leftists have shown a complete disregard to such requests and are continuing to spew their hatred.
Charlie’s killing has revealed how deep the rot within the Left is. Tens of thousands of people have made social media posts and videos celebrating his brutal and unjust death. Many of those posts have gotten tens of thousands of likes and shares, sometimes even hundreds of thousands.
What has been remarkable is how these people have had no qualms posting vile remarks under their real names, often with their jobs linked to their profiles. The Left has been comfortable online to show the country who they really are because of the coddling from Big Tech.
That request to tone down rhetoric has not been adhered to by the activists in the streets. On Friday, far-leftists gathered once again outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing building in Broadview, Illinois, located just outside the city limits of Chicago. For over 12 hours, activists and agitators blocked the road in front of the federal site. They sat and stood in the driveways in an attempt to prevent federal vehicles from entering.
This required ICE’s and Customs and Border Protection’s Special Response Teams to physically remove people from the premises to allow the vehicles to pass. The process had to be repeated over and over.
Federal agents leaving and entering on foot were chased after and heckled. Every time the SRTs came out to secure the scene, the mob would get in the agents’ faces or block their path. More than a few times did agents have to shove those people out of the way.
The same hate directed at Charlie was now being funneled towards the ICE and CBP agents all day.
The Left has been whipped up into an intense frenzy because the Trump administration has been clear on its intent to deliver on President Donald Trump’s campaign promises.
That is why the tragedy from this past week has been months in the making because of Democrats’ rhetoric and false attacks on the MAGA movement. Remember that Axios reported a few months ago how Democrats in Congress had been hearing from their voters that they are not doing enough radical actions to stop Trump. They were hearing from their own people that violence and blood is now necessary.
It is an evil that can only be described as demonic.
I would like to end on a good note: Many people who have been openly celebrating Charlie’s death and calling for more of that have been fired from their jobs.
I would ask for you to continue to pray for Charlie’s family, TPUSA, and for justice to be done. The Left must be held accountable for this horrible event.
