When I was growing up in the West Indies, we would listen to songs by the world-renowned Bob Marley.


As I prepared for this upcoming Lunch N' Learn session on Tuesday, June 9, Bob's words came rushing into my head:

As a transplanted Canadian, I have been puzzled by the Quebec question. This session scratches the surface of Quebec's complexity and uniqueness. I look forward to journeying with you.


Mustard Seed Faith

In my last email about the fundraiser to reprint a special edition of the book, Our Biblical Legacy on Parliament Hill, I said:

I am still praying that the Lord will see fit to allow me to print 5,000 books for free distribution. We still need $2,279 by Wednesday, June 10. Printing starts on June 11.

I am trusting God to enable me to print 5,000 copies of my book so that many more people will have the 25 Scripture verses to pray for our government when they gather to pray on Saturday, July 11.


Well, the Lord moved mightily this week. We have exceeded our target for Goal 1, to print 2.000 books, and are nearing the target for Goal 2, to print 5,000 books. We need $729 more. And because I know that the Lord completes every good work, I know that he will provide the rest.

There's a gathering storm. We’re in the final days of the Supreme Court term, and a massive deadline is looming.

Edmonton's Islamic Academy has broken ground on what they're calling the largest faith-based educational development in Canada.

A new Islamic school is planned for Hamilton’s industrial area amid high demand for private, faith-based schooling in the local Muslim community. 

The proposed 27-classroom institution on Beach Road — in the former Lloyd George public school between Woodleigh and Agincourt avenues, near ArcelorMittal Dofasco — will be run by the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) and open “gradually” starting this fall, with an “aim to cultivate an enriched learning community fostering academic excellence, leadership and Islamic values,” reads a Halton-Hamilton chapter page inviting parents to preregister.

The 700-student institution is planned for the former George Lloyd Public School in the city’s industrial sector

Carney reveals new info on CUSMA review, and recession debate dominates the House

There is less than one month to go before the review of the North American free trade deal CUSMA and Prime Minister Mark Carney said the Americans have identified around 30 issues that need to be ironed out.

 

Trade issues with the United States have impacted the Canadian economy but Carney also cited factors such as lower immigration and reduced government spending for Canada dipping into a technical recession, while the opposition Conservatives say the issue goes beyond that.


Still No Formal Trade Talks

Canada-U.S. trade talks were frozen between November and March and have progressed slowly during spring. There are now less than four weeks before the official review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) on free trade.

 

There were some key developments this week, with Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc visiting Washington on June 2 to meet with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. The last face-to-face meeting between the two was in early March.

 

LeBlanc this week also 

to his U.S. and Mexican counterparts saying Ottawa wishes to extend the trade pact for 16 years.

 

The trade partners sent letters to Canada as well expressing their intent on CUSMA, but LeBlanc would not disclose their contents when speaking with reporters after meeting with Greer.

 

Prime Minister Mark Carney, however, disclosed new information about the status of trade disputes and said the Americans have identified about 30 technical issues they want to see addressed by Canada. According to Carney, the U.S. side has about 60 issues with Mexico.

 

One trade irritant the United States has with Canada was apparently dealt with the day after LeBlanc came back from Washington.

 

Culture Minister Marc Miller said on June 3 he’s directing the broadcasting regulator CRTC to review its recent decision to triple the tax on large online streamers. U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra the week prior had criticized the move impacting American companies and urged Ottawa to repeal the Online Streaming Act, the legislation underpinning the CRTC decision.


“It’s no secret to anyone that’s been paying any attention to this that [the U.S. Trade Representative] has identified these issues as a trade issue,” Miller said when asked by reporters to explain his decision.

 

Ottawa made a similar concession in summer 2025 to facilitate U.S. trade talks when it announced it would repeal the Digital Services Tax, which also targets U.S. tech giants.

 

LeBlanc provided little information about his meeting with Greer, which failed to lead to the announcement of formal CUSMA talks between Ottawa and Washington.

 

Mexico and the United States concluded a first round of formal talks on May 29 and have scheduled two more rounds in June and July. LeBlanc downplayed the absence of formal Canada-U.S. talks, saying “a lot of that work” is currently being done.

 

Details about the U.S. position on one key aspect of continental trade— automobiles—leaked out of the May 29 meeting with Mexico. The Trump administration reportedly wants Mexico to increase from 75 percent to 82 percent the North American content in cars it produces, while also ensuring 50 percent of value is American.

 

Carney said in reaction that Canadian cars exported south of the border have on average about 50 percent U.S. content. He said he’s not endorsing “in any way” the U.S. request, but noted it represents a bigger problem for Mexico.

 

The Trump administration is seeking to reshore manufacturing and reduce reliance on foreign parts suppliers like China.


Why it matters: There is a possibility the United States and Mexico will reach agreements on various trade issues without input from Canada, which would be faced with a “take it or leave it” situation. Such a scenario took place during CUSMA negotiations in 2018.

 

What’s next: The CUSMA review will begin on July 1. Pact members will have to decide whether the agreement is extended for a long term. If an agreement can’t be reached, this would trigger annual reviews if parties choose to keep the deal alive.

TRUMP: 

With Hormuz Still Under Threat, Iran Targets Second Oil Chokepoint


As global markets remain focused on the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, Iran is now threatening disruption at a second major maritime chokepoint, raising fresh concerns about the security of global energy supplies and international trade.

The development comes as analysts warn that any escalation involving the Bab el-Mandeb Strait could send already diminished oil supplies plunging further and intensify pressure on global fuel prices.


Iranian officials have warned that the Bab el-Mandeb Strait — the narrow waterway linking the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden — could face restrictions if regional tensions continue to escalate.

The threat comes as shipping companies and energy markets remain on edge over the possibility that Tehran could move against traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important oil transit route.


The warning has drawn heightened attention because Bab el-Mandeb has served as a critical alternative corridor for global shipping amid ongoing disruptions and security concerns in the wider Middle East.

Together, the two waterways form critical arteries for global commerce.

While one-fifth of the world's seaborne oil trade passes through the Strait of Hormuz, Bab el-Mandeb serves as a key gateway connecting Europe, Asia, and the Middle East through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal.


Analysts warn that simultaneous disruptions at both chokepoints could trigger a sharp supply shock, sending energy prices higher while increasing costs for manufacturers, retailers, and consumers around the world.

The latest concerns come as Iran continues to signal it is willing to use maritime pressure as leverage in its confrontation with the West and regional rivals.

While Tehran has periodically threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz for years, officials have recently expanded their focus beyond outright closure threats.


Iranian authorities have also floated plans to impose what they describe as navigational or service fees on vessels transiting Hormuz, a move critics say would effectively amount to taxing international shipping through one of the world's most important waterways.


The proposal has generated opposition from the U.S. and other maritime powers, which maintain that international shipping lanes should remain open and free from interference.

Energy traders have been closely monitoring developments because even limited restrictions could have an outsized impact on oil markets.


The Strait of Hormuz handles massive volumes of crude exports from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and other Gulf producers.

Although some exporters have alternative pipelines and routes, few substitutes are capable of replacing the enormous volume of energy that moves through Hormuz each day.


The emergence of Bab el-Mandeb as a potential pressure point has heightened concerns that Iran could broaden the geographic scope of maritime disruptions.

Any sustained threat to shipping through the Red Sea corridor could affect not only oil shipments, but also container traffic moving between Asia and Europe.


The development underscores how quickly regional instability can reverberate through global energy markets, even without direct military escalation.

For now, shipping continues through both waterways.


But the prospect of disruptions at two of the world's most important maritime chokepoints has become a growing concern for traders, shipping companies, and governments worldwide.

Ivanka/Jared island has 3,500 Nuclear Bunkers!


Thousands of Albanians clashed with police this week during protests against an island tourist resort planned by a company linked to President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump.


The $1.4bn island of Sazan was formerly a communist-era military base with 3,500 nuclear bunkers, unexploded weapons, bomb shelters and miles of tunnels, according to The Independent.



Ivanka recently described how she and her husband came upon the 1,400 acre ex-military base, saying they were on a friend’s boat when they “stopped for a swim” and “swam to the island.”

“We went on a hike, barefoot all the way up to the top, and we were just captivated,” she explained.

Daycare causes Brain Damage?!!


Psychoanalyst Dr. Erica Komisar says that children who are separated from their mother or primary attachment figure during their first three years suffer from often permanent neurological damage.


She said longitudinal studies show that 72% of children who are insecurely attached at 12 months are still insecurely attached 20 years later, demonstrating the often-permanent damage that daycare inflicts. Insecure attachment is “correlated with all kinds of mental illness,” according to Komisar.

 

 

“(S)tudies show that babies who are put in daycare have very, very high salivary cortisol levels,” she pointed out, referring to the main human stress hormone. These cortisol levels are “through the roof in babies who are separated from their mothers or primary attachment figures under the age of three.”

US Intercepted Fresh Iranian Ballistic Missile Attacks Overnight As Tehran Blasts 'Ceasefire Violations'

Pakistan's Interior Minister

Has just departed from Lahore for Tehran where he will meet Iranian Leadership and deliver important messages as part of Pakistan's Mediation efforts between the US and Iran -- This is Naqvi's third standalone visit to Tehran and 4th visit overall since the war began.

 

Salvo of Ballistic Missiles Fired on Kuwait, Bahrain

Soon after the initial drone shootdown engagement (below), it became apparent that anti-air defense systems were active over Kuwait, as its armed forces warned the public that explosions were the result of inbound projectile intercepts. While there were no reports of damage, the ground result is still anything but clear or certain (based on past instances of the US and Gulf allies concealing or downplaying damage or casualties).

Within hours after this initial exchange of fire, Iran followed up with more ballistic missiles on nearby Bahrain and Kuwait - as 'punishment' for the countries hosting US forces and American bases.


Bloomberg reports that "Six ballistic missiles fired at Bahrain and Kuwait were intercepted and another failed to reach its intended target, hours after four drones headed to the Strait of Hormuz were shot down, Centcom said." It notes that the "US military struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island in return."


It Started With Iranian Drone Shootdowns

More details have come to light of the latest overnight flare-up in fighting between US and Iranian forces in and around the Strait of Hormuz and Persian Gulf.


The Friday night and overnight clashes started when the US military reportedly intercepted and shot down at least four Iranian one-way attack drones. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the incoming unmanned aerial vehicles were heading directly toward the Strait of Hormuz and posed an "imminent threat to maritime traffic."


Following the drone shootdowns, American forces immediately launched retaliatory strikes against key military targets inside Iranian territory. CENTCOM further detailed that American assets hit Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites located in Goruk, a city in the Hormozgan province, as well as on Qeshm Island, a strategically vital Iranian outpost in the mouth of the strait.


Each Exchange Another Escalation Toward Full-Scale War

One thing is clear: these 'limited' escalations are becoming more regular, and even almost nightly at this point, raising the stakes and possibility of a more full-on, dangerous renewed war.


Every exchange like this could mean a return to full-scale war, and that’s what’s going to happen eventually unless Trump just pulls out, which I don’t think he’s gonna do.

Sunday will mark 100 days since the start of Operation Epic Fury. Trump and US officials had touted only a 'short' conflict, and seemed to have been betting on the Government being Toppled.
