Whatever happened to the Corinthians?
Patrick;s EXCERPTS BELOW .pb
The church of Corinth was disturbed with intestine quarrels, caused by jealousy against certain pastors. These divisions, the germ of which had appeared even in St. Paul’s time, had destroyed all peace, and were causing scandal to the very pagans. The Corinthians at last felt the necessity of putting an end to a disorder which might be prejudicial to the extension of the Christian faith; and for this purpose it was requisite to seek assistance from outside.
The apostles had all departed this life, except St. John, who was still the light of the Church. It was no great distance form Corinth to Ephesus, where the apostle resided: yet it was not to Ephesus but to Rome that the Church of Corinth turned. Clement examined the case referred to his judgment by that Church, and sent to Corinth five commissaries to represent the Apostolic See. They were bearers of a letter, which St. Irenæus calls potentissimas litteras. (Contra hæreses, iii. 3) It was considered at the time so beautiful and so apostolic, that it was long read in many churches as a sort of continuation of the canonical Scriptures. Its tone is dignified but paternal, according to St. Peter’s advice to pastors. There is nothing in it of a domineering spirit; but the grave and solemn language bespeaks the universal pastor, whom none can disobey without disobeying God Himself. These words so solemn and so firm wrought the desired effect: peace was re-established in the church of Corinth, and the messengers of the Roman pontiff soon brought back the happy news. A century later, St. Dionysius, Bishop of Corinth, expressed to Pope St. Soter the gratitude still felt by his flock towards St. Clement for the service he had rendered.
Brought up in the school of the apostles, Clement had retained their style and manner. These are visible in his two Letters to virgins, which are mentioned by St. Epiphanius and St. Jerome, and were found in the eighteenth century translated into Syriac, in a manuscript brought from Aleppo. [Although modern critics have questioned the authenticity of the text believed by others to be that of St. Clement to the virgins, the fact that the holy Pope wrote in favor of virginity still remains, upheld by the concordant testimonies of St Epiphanius (H. xxx, 15) and St. Jerome (contra Jovinian. i. 12)]
The time, however, was at hand, when the emperors, the senate, and all Rome, were to learn from the first Apology of St. Justin the marvels of purity concealed within that Babylon of iniquity. “Among us, in this city,” said the apologist, “there are many men and women who have reached the age of sixty or seventy years; brought up from infancy under the law of Christ, they have persevered to this day in the state of virginity; and there is not a country where I could not point out many such.” (Justin Martyr, First Apology)
It is time to read the liturgical account of the great pope of the first century.
Clement was a Roman by birth, son of Faustinus who dwelt in the region of Monte Cœlio. He was a disciple of blessed Peter; and is mentioned by St. Paul in his Epistle to the Philippians, in these words: ‘I entreat thee also, my sincere companion, help those women who have labored with me in the Gospel, with Clement and the rest of my fellow-laborers, whose names are in the book of life.’ He divided Rome into seven regions, appointing a notary for each, who was to ascertain and record with the greatest care the acts and sufferings of the martyrs. He wrote many useful and learned works, such as did honor to the Christian name.
He converted many to the faith of Christ by his learning and holiness of life, and was on that account banished by the emperor Trajan to the desert of Kherson beyond the Black Sea. Here he found two thousand Christians, likewise banished by Trajan, who were employed in quarrying marble. Seeing them suffering from want of water, Clement betook himself to prayer, and then ascended a neighboring hill, on the summit of which he saw a lamb, pointing out with his right foot a spring of sweet water. At this source they all quenched their thirst; and many infidels were converted by the miracle and began to revere Clement as a saint.
On hearing this Trajan was enraged and sent officers with orders to cast Clement into the sea with an anchor tied to his neck. After the execution of this sentence, as the Christians were praying on the shore, the sea began to recede for the distance of three miles; on approaching they found a small building of marble, in the form of a temple wherein lay the martyr’s body in a stone coffin, and beside it the anchor with which he had been drowned. The inhabitants of the country were so astounded at the miracle, that they were led to embrace the Christian faith.
The holy body was afterwards translated to Rome, under Pope Nicholas I and deposited in the church of St. Clement. A church was also built and dedicated in his honor on that spot in the island where the miraculous fountain had sprung up. He held the pontificate for nine years, six months, and six days. In two ordinations in the month of December, he made ten priests, two deacons, and fifteen bishops for divers places.

Six Dems Join House GOP to Block Biden
By Victor Winston, updated on December 2, 2023
https://capitalisminstitute.org/six-dems-join-house-gop-to-block-biden/
The House of Representatives passed a bill to prevent the use of federal lands for housing migrants and illegal immigrants, marking a notable shift in immigration policy and striking down the Biden administration.
The legislation, known as the "Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act," was passed in a 224-203 vote, spearheaded by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis.
It reflects a growing concern over the use of federal lands for migrant housing, an issue that has been at the forefront of political debate recently.
A Bipartisan Decision Amidst Political Divide
The bill's passage was notable for the bipartisan support it received. Six Democrats broke ranks with their party to support the Republican-led initiative. This rare display of bipartisan agreement underscores the complexity and urgency of the immigration issue in the United States.
The Democrats who voted in favor of the bill were Reps. Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, Jared Golden, Vicente Gonzalez Jr., Mary Peltola, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez.
Their decision to support the Republican bill reflects a nuanced approach to the issue of immigration, recognizing the need for balanced and practical solutions, Breitbart reported.
Despite this bipartisan support, the bill was met with opposition from the Biden administration. The administration argued that the bill would unduly restrict the powers of the Interior and Agriculture Departments, limiting their ability to effectively manage federal lands. This opposition highlights the ongoing debate between maintaining national security and ensuring the humane treatment of migrants.
Response to New York Migrant Housing Plans
The bill was introduced following plans to potentially house thousands of migrants at Floyd Bennett Field in New York. This historic airfield, federally owned, became a focal point in the debate over the use of federal lands for migrant housing.
These plans, which envisioned moving hundreds or possibly thousands of migrants to the airfield, drew significant public attention and concern. The proposal underscored the broader challenges faced by the U.S. government in addressing the influx of migrants and illegal immigrants.
According to recent estimates, over 60,000 illegal immigrants are being released into U.S. communities monthly under the current administration. This staggering figure, translating to over 720,000 individuals per year, has intensified the debate over immigration policies and border security.
Concerns Over Community Impact and Costs
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, the architect of the bill, expressed her concerns regarding the implications of using federal lands for housing migrants. She highlighted the unfair burden this would place on surrounding communities and taxpayers.
"Turning our federal parks into encampments for unvetted migrants from all over the world is unfair to surrounding communities and the taxpayers who are being forced to foot the bill while our Mayor bankrupts our city and slashes services from our citizens." - Rep. Nicole Malliotakis
Malliotakis's statement reflects a widespread sentiment among many lawmakers and citizens, concerned about the financial and social impacts of such policies. It underscores the need for a comprehensive approach to immigration that balances humanitarian concerns with the realities of national security and community well-being.
Implications for Future Immigration Policy
The passage of this legislation marks a significant moment in U.S. immigration policy. It indicates a shift towards more stringent control over the use of federal lands for migrant housing, a topic that has become increasingly contentious.
The bill's success in the House, however, is just the first step in a longer legislative process. It now moves to the Senate, where it will face further debate and scrutiny. The outcome of this process will have lasting implications for how the United States handles the complex issue of immigration.
This legislative development also raises questions about the balance of power between federal and state authorities in managing immigration issues. As the nation continues to grapple with these challenges, the role of federal lands in housing migrants remains a topic of intense debate and concern.
A Critical Look at Current Immigration Practices
One of the critical aspects of this debate is the current practice of releasing a significant number of illegal immigrants into U.S. communities. This practice, which has been a hallmark of the current administration's approach to immigration, has drawn criticism from various quarters.
Proponents of stricter immigration policies argue that this practice poses security risks and places undue strain on local resources and communities. They advocate for more controlled and regulated approaches to managing the entry and settlement of migrants in the U.S.
On the other hand, advocates for more lenient policies emphasize the humanitarian aspects of immigration. They argue for the need to provide safe and humane conditions for migrants seeking refuge. This dichotomy underscores the complex and multifaceted nature of the immigration debate.
Looking Ahead: The Senate's Role in Shaping Policy
As the bill now heads to the Senate, its fate remains uncertain. The Senate's response will be a critical factor in determining the future of this legislation. And, by extension, the broader direction of U.S. immigration policy.
The debate in the Senate is expected to be intense, reflecting the deep divisions and strong opinions on immigration issues. Senators will have to navigate a delicate balance between security concerns and humanitarian considerations as they deliberate on the bill.
The outcome of this legislative process will be closely watched by all stakeholders. It will be a defining moment in the ongoing effort to address the complex challenges of immigration and border security.
A Story of Bipartisanship and Controversy
The "Protecting Our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act" passing represents a significant development in immigration policy.
The House passed legislation to block federal lands from being used for migrant housing.
Bipartisan support was seen with six Democrats joining Republicans.
The bill was a response to plans to house migrants at Floyd Bennett Field in New York.
It reflects concerns over community impact and the cost of migrant housing.
The fate of the bill in the Senate will be crucial in shaping future immigration policy.

Hunter Biden Attorney Turns on Former Clients, Raising Ethics Questions:
By [Victor Winston],
updated on December 2, 2023
Abbe Lowell, representing Hunter Biden, has accused Republicans of disregarding the Trump family's business activities while focusing solely on the Bidens, leading to a contentious debate over ethics and conflicts of interest.
Lowell, a prominent Washington D.C. lawyer with a long history of representing high-profile clients, has been at the center of this developing story. His recent remarks have put a spotlight on the business activities of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, who he represented from 2017 to 2019 while they were senior advisers in the Trump White House.
These comments have raised questions about the ethical boundaries lawyers must navigate when dealing with former and current clients.
Accusations Against the Republican Focus
Lowell's accusations stem from his belief that Republicans have been unfairly focusing on Hunter Biden's business dealings while ignoring similar concerns regarding the Trump family. He argues that this oversight is a significant lapse in ethical scrutiny. This stance has led to a broader discussion about the role of family members in political administrations and their business engagements.
During his time in the White House, Kushner, along with Ivanka Trump, maintained personal business interests, which have now become a point of contention, Washington Examiner reported.
Lowell's reference to these interests in his defense of Hunter Biden has raised eyebrows in legal circles, with some questioning the propriety of such a comparison.
The timeline of events is crucial in understanding the unfolding controversy. Lowell's representation of Kushner and Trump, and his subsequent references to them while representing Hunter Biden, form the backbone of the current debate.
Legal Ethics and Confidentiality at Stake
Legal experts have criticized Lowell's statements, suggesting that they may breach professional ethics and confidentiality obligations to former clients. Ethics rules in the legal profession strictly prohibit lawyers from using information from former clients to the detriment of those clients or to benefit current ones. This principle is at the heart of the current controversy.
It remains unclear whether Lowell formally ended his representation of Kushner and Trump before making these statements. This ambiguity adds another layer to the ethical considerations at play. The lack of clarity on this matter has fueled further debate about the appropriateness of Lowell's actions.
Regarding Lowell's statements, one critic noted, "It’s troubling that Abbe Lowell is suggesting the Committee investigate his former clients to help his current clients. That’s certainly not professional and raises legal ethics and bar rules questions.” This critique encapsulates the concern that Lowell might be leveraging his past client relationships for the benefit of his current client, a move seen as potentially unethical.
A History of High-Profile Legal Representation
Abbe Lowell's career as a high-powered lawyer in Washington D.C. spans several decades, during which he has represented a variety of famous clients. This extensive experience places him in a unique position, having insights into the inner workings of numerous political and legal scenarios.
The current controversy surrounding Lowell brings to light the delicate balance lawyers must maintain between advocating for their current clients and respecting the confidentiality and interests of their former clients. This situation highlights the complex ethical landscape in which attorneys operate, particularly in the politically charged atmosphere of Washington D.C.
Block quote: "You state that one of your purposes is to review how a President’s family’s business activities raise ethics and disclosure concerns to inform the basis for a legislative solution. But all your focus has been on this President’s family while turning a blind eye toward former President Trump and his family’s businesses, some of which the family maintained while serving in office—an area ripe to inform your purported legislative pursuits."
Unfolding Timeline of Events
The sequence of events is key to understanding the controversy. Lowell represented Kushner and Ivanka Trump, during which time they were actively involved in the Trump administration. It was during this period that they continued to maintain some personal business interests.
Lowell made an unnamed reference to Kushner and Trump, which initially did not garner much attention. However, his statements in August 2023 on MSNBC, where he noted the "difference" between Hunter Biden and the Trump children, brought the issue to the forefront. This week, his accusations against Republicans for overlooking the Trump family business concerns have intensified the debate.
Another quote from the news story highlights the concerns raised by Lowell's approach: "If Lowell is making this comparison based on confidences he learned while representing the Trump family, it would seem to be grounds for an ethics inquiry—he’s violating the duty of confidentiality."
Conclusion
· Abbe Lowell, representing Hunter Biden, accuses Republicans of ignoring Trump family business concerns.
· Lowell's previous representation of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump and their maintained business interests during their time in the White House is a focal point of the debate.
· Critics argue Lowell's statements may violate legal ethics, particularly regarding duties of confidentiality to former clients.
· The controversy raises questions about the ethical boundaries and responsibilities of lawyers in political and legal spheres.

Nikki Haley is panicking after this Wall Street Ally’s plan to meddle in the Primary leaked:
https://www.desantisdaily.com/nikki-haley-is-panicking-after-this-wall-street-allys-plan-to-meddle-in-the-primary-leaked/
Nikki Haley is trying to pull a fast one on GOP Primary voters.
She’s trying to keep her left-wing record hidden.
Now Nikki Haley is panicking after this Wall Street ally’s plan to meddle in the Primary leaked.
Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has emerged as the choice of the Republican establishment in the GOP Presidential Primary.
They view her as the best opportunity to retake control of the GOP and take the party back to the Bush era.
“It’s invigorating to be truly excited by a candidate again,” Zus Health CEO Jonathan Bush, a cousin of former President George W. Bush, told The New York Times.
“The topic that everyone is on is, ‘How do you beat Donald Trump?’” Bush explained. “And she was careful to say, ‘Look, people will decide about him, but this is where I am on certain issues.’ And she rattled off some issues, related to our debt, related to our role in the world. But what you picked up was an electric energy.”
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon was one of former President Barack Obama’s top allies on Wall Street, and was rumored to be in the running for a cabinet position in the Biden regime.
The Democrat banking mogul told an audience of Wall Street titans at The New York Times’ Dealbook summit that they needed to “help” Haley in the GOP Presidential Primary.
“Even if you’re a very liberal Democrat, I urge you, help Nikki Haley, too,” Dimon said.
Haley and Dimon have had private conversations as she looks to court money from Wall Street to boost her campaign.
A memo obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed that the Republican establishment is already trying to ride to Haley’s rescue in an early Primary state.
Jonathan Bush and a group of wealthy healthcare executives are launching a new super PAC called Independents Moving the Needle, to target independent voters in GOP Primaries where they can take part.
The PAC plans to target New Hampshire, the second GOP contest after Iowa, where Democrats and independents can vote in the state’s Presidential Primary.
“We believe Nikki can out-perform and gain further momentum in New Hampshire,” the memo reads. “We look forward to assisting Nikki later in South Carolina, and in selected Super Tuesday states with open primaries thereafter.”
Haley is trying to cement herself as the top alternative to Trump in New Hampshire by quietly courting the support of independents and Democrats to put her over the top.

These Experts Advocated for Lockdowns; Now They Say They Were Wrong
Very few experts who now say they were wrong on lockdowns and mandates have publicly apologized. We spoke to two who did.
By [Katie Spence]
Nov 27, 2023
As the dust settles from the COVID-19 pandemic and the fallout over lockdown policies becomes more pronounced, some lockdown proponents, like New York University Professor Scott Galloway, have admitted they were wrong for supporting lockdowns.
"I was on the Board of my kid's school during COVID. I wanted a harsher lockdown policy. In retrospect, I was wrong," Mr. Galloway told Bill Maher.
"The damage to kids of keeping them out of school longer was greater than the risk. But here's the bottom line, myself, our great people at the CDC, I'd like to think the governor, we were all operating with imperfect information, and we were doing our best." he said, referring to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
"Let's learn from it. Let's hold each other accountable, but let's bring a little bit of grace and forgiveness," he said.
Mr. Galloway isn't the only one to admit he was wrong for supporting lockdowns, especially for children.
However, some others aren't as quick to blame "imperfect information," and plead for forgiveness.
Dr. Ari Joffe, a clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Alberta, Canada, and an attending physician in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, initially supported lockdowns.
So did Kevin Bass, a seventh-year medical student and researcher at a Texas medical school.
Both now say they were wrong because of "groupthink" and "fear-mongering," rather than imperfect information. And both push back against Mr. Galloway's notion that the powers that be were "doing [their] best." [The EPOCH Times]

The EU has significantly increased imports of Russian grain:
Despite the West-bloc’s sanctions against the country, RIA Novosti reported on Saturday, citing statistics agency Eurostat.
According to the report, in September the EU increased imports of Russian grain by 22% month-on-month to 180,000 tons, roughly ten times what had been bought from Russia during the same period last year. This was the highest figure since the start of the Ukraine conflict and subsequent Western sanctions war on Russia. The surge in imports allowed Russia to retake its place among the top-five grain suppliers to the 27-nation bloc for the first time in six months, coming in fourth.
Ukraine remained the largest grain supplier to the EU in the reporting period with 1.2 million tons, down by a quarter year-on-year. Brazil came in second with 1.1 million tons, followed by Türkiye with 204,000 tons. Canada closed out the top-five, with 139,000 tons.
Meanwhile, Eurostat statistics also showed that the EU has upped imports of Russian fertilizers in recent months. According to the data, in the period July to September, the sanctioned country’s share in extra-EU imports of the product bounced back to 27%, the same share it had in the third quarter of 2021, prior to the Ukraine conflict.
While neither Russian grain or its fertilizers have been directly sanctioned by the West, their export has been hindered in recent months by financial, shipping and insurance restrictions placed on Moscow. Russia has repeatedly called for these restrictions to be lifted.

Garbage Destroyed by Plasma Waste to Energy Systems:
See Pictures following:

"Letter to LFP editor re City Council"... By Patrick Bestall
I'm very disappointed in your "Long Story" about Waste disposal. You devoted four full pages to discussing the options available without telling readers there are seven different kinds of incineration, and much more advanced processes such as gasification and vitrification plasma waste-to-energy systems which are totally non-threatening to the planet. I do appreciate your discussion of the ideological and business wars behind the political decisions being made, although you omitted any reference to mafia involvement. I also appreciate the comparisons between countries like Canada where 97% of our garbage is sent by thousands of garbage trucks to toxic landfills (emitting more methane gas than all the cows in the country) vs. Sweden where 97% of their garbage is turned into heat and electricity for their homes but still that's by incineration which is not as pure as plasma disintegration systems.
I pray that local city hall managers and councilors will ignore the special interest groups and investors in solar panels, windmills and recycling; I hope our city hall and many others will look into totally pollution-free solutions that have been developed and more which will be developed to reduce capitol costs and make residues very profitable. Just Google Plasma Gasification. To quote one of the videos, "It's the future of waste".

Comer insists on Hunter Biden Testifying behind closed doors:
December 2, 2023
By [Robert Ayers]
U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-KY) is insisting that Hunter Biden provide private testimony to his committee.
Comer did so in a letter that he sent to Hunter Biden's attorney, Abbe Lowell, on Friday, Dec. 1. The letter can be read in its entirety here.
As the leader of the House Oversight Committee, Comer has been one of the House members who has been leading the investigation into the Biden family. As part of this investigation, Comer has subpoenaed Hunter Biden, seeking testimony from him.
Comer's letter to Lowell comes after Lowell, on behalf of Hunter Biden, offered to have Hunter Biden testify before the committee publicly.
Comer rejects Lowell's offer
In his letter to Lowell, Comer rejects Lowell's offer. Comer said that, while Hunter Biden will have to testify publicly at some point, initially this testimony will take place behind closed doors, in accordance with precedent.
"Pursuant to the terms of the subpoenas, the Rules of the House of Representatives, and the respective Committee rules, this testimony will occur initially in a deposition setting, as has been the consistent practice of Committees of theHouse of Representatives in recent Congresses - during both Republican and Democrat majorities - as well as these Committees during this inquiry," Comer wrote.
He added, "We also appreciate your confirmation that Mr. Biden is willing to testify at a public hearing. We look forward to his testimony in a hearing at the appropriate time."
"A demand to receive special treatment"
Comer goes on to accuse Lowell of having made "several baseless and misleading assertions" in the letter that Lowell previously sent to Comer. And, Comer spends a good amount of space correcting the record.
"Your letter is merely an extension of your coordinated campaign to discredit the allegations against Mr. Biden, distort the truth, and attack the integrity of witnesses against Mr.Biden," Comer writes.
He later adds, "Mr. Biden’s attempt to avoid sitting for a deposition pursuant to the terms of the subpoenas - by offering instead to testify at a public hearing - amounts to a demand that he receive special treatment from the Committees."
What now?
Currently, Hunter Biden is scheduled to provide private testimony to Comer's committee on Dec. 13, 2023.
Previously, Lowell and Biden have said that Hunter Biden is "eager" to testify "in a public forum."
But, Lowell and Hunter Biden have suggested that Biden is less willing to provide this testimony behind closed doors.
So, it remains unclear as to whether Hunter Biden is going to show up on Dec. 13.
