Verse(s) for today:

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: The righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Proverbs 18:10 KJV

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:9 KJV

if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

Thought(s) for the Day:

Clinical trials, vaccine safety surveillance systems and follow-up studies have shown that the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 mRNA vaccines are remarkably safe. There is a small but increased risk of inflammation of the heart muscle or surrounding tissue, known as myocarditis or pericarditis, following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination, particularly in younger males after a second dose. But the condition is rare and, in most cases, resolves quickly.

Yet a study by scientists affiliated with the Heidelberg University Hospital in Germany published in Clinical Research in Cardiology in November is being cited on social media to misleadingly suggest the vaccines are unsafe.

The researchers examined autopsy data from 35 people who died unexpectedly within 20 days of COVID-19 vaccination and concluded that for two of them, vaccine-induced myocarditis represented the “likely” cause of death, while for three others, the condition was a “possible” cause of death.

Some experts, however, have questioned those conclusions — and even if valid, they don’t mean the risks of vaccination outweigh the benefits. On the contrary, numerous studies have shown the vaccines provide good protection against severe COVID-19 and death — and only rarely cause serious side effects. Studies have also shown that in most age groups myocarditis following vaccination is less frequent than after COVID-19, and clinically, most vaccine-related myocarditis cases are mild. This context was missing when many people shared the autopsy study online.

“Autopsies found that 5/35 people who died suddenly within 20 days of COVID-19 vaccination had myocarditis as a likely/possible cause of death,” Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo tweeted on Dec. 2, linking to the study.

“These deaths aren’t captured by other studies because these patients never made it to the hospital…mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are far less safe than any vaccines widely used. When does sanity return to science? Why do scientists breathlessly defend this technology?” he added, in a tweet that got over 18,000 likes.

Ladapo also misleadingly said that the autopsy study was “consistent with Florida’s analysis,” referring to a discredited analysis performed by the Florida Department of Health. It purportedly found an increased risk of cardiac-related death following vaccination in younger adult males and was the basis for the state to no longer recommend the mRNA vaccines for that group in October. As we wrote at the time, experts in statistics said the analysis was flawed.

Last week, in a roundtable hosted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Ladapo announced a plan to study myocarditis in people who died within a few weeks of COVID-19 vaccination using autopsy results, inspired by the German report. (For more information, see SciCheck’s “DeSantis’ Dubious COVID-19 Vaccine Claims.”)

Ladapo’s tweet was followed by multiple articles, videos and social media posts suggesting the German autopsy report’s findings were alarming. The report was embraced by those who have been advancing the false narrative that the vaccines are causing widespread deaths. Its publication came just a few days after the release of “Died Suddenly,” a viral video that baselessly claimed the vaccines were causing people to suddenly drop dead in a plot to depopulate the world.

“Major New Autopsy Report Reveals Those Who Died Suddenly Were Likely Killed by the Covid Vaccine,” reads a headline in the Daily Sceptic, a website known for spreading misinformation.

“The fact that those who die suddenly after vaccination may have died from the hidden effects of the Covid vaccine on their heart is thus now firmly established in the medical literature,” the Daily Sceptic article continued, potentially leaving the false impression that deaths due to vaccination are widespread.

According to the German study, the researchers identified “acute (epi-)myocarditis without detection of another significant disease or health constellation that may have caused an unexpected death” in four patients. But experts who reviewed the study told us there is not enough evidence to prove that the deaths were caused by the vaccine, nor can the study be used to infer how frequently vaccine-related myocarditis is fatal.

“The temporal association of lymphocytic myocarditis following vaccination suggests but does not prove causality,” Dr. Leslie T. Cooper Jr., a myocarditis expert and chair of the Department of Cardiology at the Mayo Clinic in Florida, told us in an email.

Cooper added that the background rate of myocarditis is around 1 to 10 in 100,000 people per year. “Because we do not know the denominator of patients vaccinated in their region during this time, we cannot calculate the expected number of cases if there were no vaccinations,” he said.

“I think that it is not possible to prove that vaccination is really the cause of death of these people,” Dr. Karin Klingel, head of cardiopathology at the University Hospital Tübingen in Germany, told us in an email.

Other experts who reviewed the study for Health Feedback said the same.

While some social media posts claim that the study is a “major autopsy report,” the authors acknowledged that their study was “limited by the relatively small cohort size” and “does not allow any epidemiological conclusions in terms of incidence or risk estimation.”

The authors also noted that they “cannot provide a definitive functional proof or a direct causal link between vaccination and myocarditis.” Co-senior author Dr. Peter Schirmacher nevertheless told in an email that the study “proves the link between vaccination induced myocarditis and death” and that it’s “the largest and most diligent and structured autopsy study that exists and it covers a collective that is not addressed anywhere by adequate expert autopsy assessment.”

According to the existing evidence, post-vaccine myocarditis is more frequent in males, particularly in those ages 12 to 24, after a second dose. The cases included in the German study, however, included three females, ages 50, 62 and 75; and two males, ages 46 and 55. Four of the deaths occurred after the first dose of the vaccine.

Dr. Frank Han, a pediatric cardiologist at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, said on Twitter that the study establishes that the patients had myocarditis, but whether they died of an arrhythmia from myocarditis was less clear. He noted that some of the individuals “had pulmonary and vascular findings consistent with atherosclerosis and pulmonary congestion,” and based on what the authors included in the paper, “it’s unknown why they think atherosclerosis was noncontributory.”

As one expert told Health Feedback, more autopsies should be done, as they may be able to identify the risk factors for adverse events following vaccination, which could make vaccination even safer. But autopsy reports such as these aren’t evidence that the COVID-19 vaccines are too risky or that many people are dying from them.

Cooper, of the Mayo Clinic in Florida, pointed us to a recent publication from Hong Kong, which analyzed health records of vaccinated people, ages 12 years or older, hospitalized with myocarditis. Out of 104 patients hospitalized with myocarditis within 28 days of receiving a Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, one died within six months of the diagnosis. That’s a mortality rate of about 1%, which according to Cooper, is a bit higher than what other case series have found. Even going with the 1% rate, Cooper said this would mean the risk of death from vaccine-related myocarditis would be 1 in 2 million to 1 in 10 million.

A study published in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report in April found that the risk for cardiac complications including myocarditis, pericarditis and multisystem inflammatory syndrome was “significantly higher” after an infection with the coronavirus, or SARS-CoV-2, than after receiving an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, for both males and females in all age groups.

“Even among males aged 12–17 years, the group with the highest incidence of cardiac complications after receipt of a second mRNA COVID-19 vaccine dose, the risk was 1.8–5.6 times as high after SARS-CoV-2 infection than after vaccination,” the study said. [The Epoch Times Media]

The woke outrage mob is gnashing their teeth after Mel Gibson endorsed one hit movie on Human Trafficking they want to destroy:

Left-wing radicals have had a stranglehold on the entertainment industry for decades. But some movies with traditional values still seep through. And Mel Gibson endorsed one hit movie that has leftists gnashing their teeth.

The hit thriller exposing child sex trafficking, Sound of Freedom, has been a surprise box office success, and the woke left-wing outrage mob is hopping mad.

The film, based on true events, stars Jim Caviezel as former Homeland Security special agent Tim Ballard, who helped capture pedophiles and free victims from sex slavery. And for some reason, the film has been either panned or ignored by Democrat’s media allies. “‘Sound of Freedom,’ the low-budget film about child sex trafficking almost topped the box office on July 4,” The Washington Post wrote. “But its star, Jim Caviezel, has linked it to the QAnon movement.”

Rolling Stone wrote a particularly nasty review entitled, “‘Sound of Freedom’ Is a Superhero Movie for Dads With Brainworms. The QAnon-tinged thriller about child-trafficking is designed to appeal to the conscience of a conspiracy-addled boomer.”

The movie has nothing to do with QAnon, but the media narrative persists, nonetheless. However, thanks to endorsements from Mel Gibson, other celebrities, and many conservatives, the film has had massive success thus far.

“One of the most disturbing problems in our world today is human trafficking, and particularly, the trafficking of children,” Gibson told fans. “Now the first step in eradicating this problem is awareness. Go see Sound of Freedom.”

The film opened on July 4, and outperformed the latest installment of Indiana Jones in dollars-per-screen average.

And in its first full weekend, Sound of Freedom raked in $40 million. That is a massive success for a film that did not have the marketing budget of a major studio. The film was originally produced by 20th Century Fox, but was shelved by Disney when the company acquired Fox.

Independent producers had to buy the film from Disney, which had no desire to release it. The film had essentially been languishing since 2018. Some critics said Disney did not want to release the film because of its quality, but the film is well made with good performances, particularly from acclaimed supporting actor Bill Camp.

Even if people do not like the film because of subject matter or taste, that does not explain the hostility from the media.

There has been a concerted effort to tie the movie to QAnon for no good reason other than politics.

Ironically, the hysteria from the media has served as a catalyst for people to go see Sound of Freedom.

“As with our July 4th numbers, today’s numbers exceed our expectations, and we’re going to continue this momentum,” Angel Studios, the film’s distributor, wrote in a statement. “We’re getting messages from all over the country telling us about packed theaters, sold-out theaters and spontaneous standing ovations for the film in numerous locations. Seeing this film has become a must, thanks to incredible word-of-mouth.”

Judge in Trump documents case postpones hearing despite Jack Smith's objections:

The federal judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's classified document mishandling case has denied a plea from Special Counsel Jack Smith's team and agreed to a brief postponement of a scheduling hearing that had been scheduled to occur on July 14, as ABC News reports. That hearing, which also involves c0-defendant and Trump confidante Walt Nauta, will now take place on Tuesday, July 18, according to the outlet.

It was Nauta's lawyer, Stanley Woodward, who sought the delay, citing his required appearance as defense counsel at a Jan. 6-related trial.

Judge Aileen Cannon's decision to postpone the hearing came over the objections of Jay Bratt, the top prosecutor on Smith's team, who suggested that Woodward's presence at the proceedings was not required, since Nauta also has local counsel to represent him. In a court filing opposing the delay, Bratt wrote, “There is a strong public interest in the conference occurring as originally scheduled and the case proceeding as expeditiously as possible.”

Of much greater potential implications in terms of the broader case against Trump and Nauta, however, is the pair's recent request to have the entire criminal trial pushed back until after the 2024 elections have been held, a development on which Reuters reported this week.

Lawyers for the former president and for Nauta said in their filing on the matter, “President Trump is running for president of the United States and is currently the likely Republican nominee.”

“This undertaking requires a tremendous amount of time and energy, and that effort will continue until the election on November 5, 2024,” the attorneys continued.

As such, counsel for the joint defendants explained, “Such preparation requires significant planning and time, making the current schedule untenable and counseling in favor of a continuance.”

Logistical concerns were not the only issues raised by Trump's attorneys in their request to postpone the documents trial, as Reuters further explained.

Counsel for the former president added that the unprecedented and historic nature of the indictment implicated “significant” legal questions and a host of challenges arising out of the classified nature of the evidence at issue.

Smith's team of prosecutors had already requested that Cannon change the initially announced trial date of Aug. 14 to Dec. 11 to facilitate additional preparations in the case, but it is far from clear that the government would willingly agree to a postponement of the length now sought by Trump and Nauta.

No comment on Trump and Nauta’s request was immediately forthcoming from Smith’s office, but a spokesperson for the special counsel indicated that a formal response would be filed in court in the near future.

Trump stands accused of 37 counts in connection to his handling of classified materials after his departure from office, and he has pleaded not guilty to all of them. Nauta also entered a not guilty plea to the six charges – including conspiracy and false statements counts – he now faces. Whether Cannon ultimately accepts their arguments about the importance of allowing the 2024 electoral process to play out before wading into these uncharted judicial waters, however, only time will tell.

Joe Biden cancels the Trump barrier but discreetly fills in half the voids:

The Biden administration has begun discreetly filling in small portions of unfenced areas on the southern border where it abruptly halted projects during the Trump administration after the president ran a vicious campaign against the concept of a wall. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Department of Homeland Security is halfway through filling in 129 spaces in border wall projects after President Joe Biden abruptly halted the remaining 300 miles of Trump-era wall construction in January 2021, according to The Washington Examiner.

The move, which was not publicized with photographs and press conferences, is a pivot by the White House from its knee-jerk reaction of halting wall construction on Biden's first day in office, which resulted in the squandering of billions of dollars and materials from Congress.

In Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas, where more than 450 miles of 18- and 30-foot slatted steel wall was installed by former President Donald Trump, dozens of breaches have been filled. Despite these efforts, a large portion of the 2,000-mile boundary remains uninhabited. "To date, DHS has authorized the completion of multiple life, safety, environmental and other remediation activities which include, among other activities, the closure of 129 gates and gaps across the Southwest Border," CBP said. "Of the 129 approved gates and gaps, 68 have been completed to date with an additional 50 anticipated for completion by September 30, 2023. The remaining 11 are anticipated to be completed in Fiscal Year (FY) 2024."

On day one, the Biden White House promptly halted all wall construction to ascertain if further construction was required. In studies conducted in 2021 and 2022, it was determined that 129 gaps and numerous environmental issues, such as drainage, must be addressed. But the construction was sluggish to begin. "There never was any legitimate justification for waiting nearly 2 1/2 years to get around to doing construction that should have never stopped and that should have been completed by now," said Ken Oliver, director of Right on Immigration at the conservative think tank Texas Public Policy Foundation. "It was a highly irresponsible and unlawful action by the Biden administration to halt construction of duly appropriated border wall funding in the first place." The spans between projects being completed do not come close to matching the 300 miles of uninstalled new barrier. However, the voids are being filled with funds left over from Trump's wall initiatives. The Biden administration has not disclosed the total distance covered by the gap initiatives. In an August 2020 interview with NPR, Biden declared, "there will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration, No. 1."

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas authorized the Department of Defense to cancel all programs financed with the $10.5 billion that Trump redirected from the Defense Department. The remaining balance of $2 billion from the $10.5 billion was returned.

In addition to the $10.5 billion, Congress contributed an additional $5 billion for border infrastructure. The Biden administration decided not to spend the remaining funds on a wall, but rather on roads and other forms of infrastructure.

"The remaining $5 billion has been used to address specific deficits. The funds will also be used for the installation of vehicle-passing gates, the completion or installation of drainage systems, the completion of permanent erosion control and slope stabilization measures, the construction of border roads, and the removal of unused materials.

According to landowner and fourth-generation rancher Russell Johnson, CBP installed a matching gate in a 20-foot-wide breach in Deming that had been left open for more than two and a half years.

The U.S. Supreme Court sent Joe Biden a direct order and his response is astonishing:

The Highest Court in the land recently sent the White House a major ruling. Joe Biden was not happy about it.

And his response to a direct Supreme Court order is utterly astonishing.

In the months leading up to the 2022 midterms, the White House announced a stunning student loan forgiveness plan that would have paid for the student loans debt for millions of Americans at the expense of the American taxpayer.

This plan from the Biden administration was quickly met with legal counters and was dragged into court.

The case eventually made its way to the U.S. Supreme Court where the conservative-leaning High Court bench would determine the fate of Joe Biden’s legally dubious student loan forgiveness plan.

On June 30th, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a 6-3 ruling that opined from the Court that the student loan forgiveness plan was completely unconstitutional. The Biden administration would no longer be allowed to move forward with its plan.

The Biden administration obviously used this socialist scheme as a ploy to win some votes in the critical 2022 midterms because they were getting clobbered in the polls by all measures.

But now with the unconstitutional plan dead, the Biden administration is vulnerable to the backlash from its own political base who will be angry that he promised a huge plan that he won’t be able to see through.

In the wake of this major legal battle being lost, the Biden administration put out a statement saying that they believe the Supreme Court got it “wrong.”

The White House website sharing Biden’s statement on the ruling reads:

I believe that the Court’s decision to strike down our student debt relief plan is wrong.

But I will stop at nothing to find other ways to deliver relief to hard-working middle-class families. My Administration will continue to work to bring the promise of higher education to every American.

The Biden administration also said that they would be looking at ways to skirt the Supreme Court ruling and cancel student loan debt anyway.

Well, now the White House has announced their next socialist scheme to do so.

According to reports, the Biden administration will be attempting to cancel about $39 billion in student loan debt for nearly 1 million Americans.

“At the start of this administration, millions of borrowers had earned loan forgiveness but never received it. That’s unacceptable,” Education Department official James Kvall shared with the media.

“Today we are holding up the bargain we offered borrowers who have completed decades of repayment.”

Interestingly, the Biden administration believes that those in student loan debt have “earned” their debt being canceled by an executive order of the White House.

They are literally saying they’ve earned the right to have their debt paid for by the American taxpayer in an obviously socialist scheme. It’s also interesting that the Biden administration is trying to do this right after the U.S. Supreme Court announced their original plan to forgive student loan debt to be unconstitutional. The Biden administration is effectively saying they don’t care what the rule of law says, and they are going to do whatever they can to get what they want. [The Federalist Wire Media]

Tucker Carlson taking Fox News head-on with this jaw-dropping announcement:

Tucker Carlson may not be at Fox News anymore, but he’s not slowed down one bit. He’s got major plans in the work.

And now Tucker Carlson is taking Fox News head-on with this jaw-dropping announcement.

It’s possible that TuckerWorld will soon be available on your television, mobile device, and computer.

It was reported on Friday by the Wall Street Journal that former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson is planning to launch a new media firm based on his current Twitter broadcasts.

According to the story, “people familiar with the matter” said that funding is currently being secured to further develop the concept.

Reportedly, Carlson will be working with Neil Patel, who co-founded The Daily Caller with him.

According to the story, the company’s founding team now includes financiers, lawyers, and media strategists as they work to raise the necessary millions of dollars to bring the idea to fruition.

The report also claims that Twitter’s crew has been involved as well.

Twitter’s CEO Linda Yaccarino likewise recently met with Carlson’s producer Justin Wells.

According to the story, executives from Twitter have discussed with the former Fox News presenter ways in which Twitter content, like videos, may be viewed on TV.

YouTube’s propensity for silencing conservatives was used to paint a picture of Carlson’s skepticism of the site as a potential home for his project.

The rumor claimed the company will provide a combination of free and paid material, with the former being comparable to Carlson’s Twitter episodes but longer and more in-depth.

Reports indicate that Carlson would be just one of many hosts contributing material to the platform.

According to the source, plans include exploring the prospect of “having a set of big brands sponsor Carlson’s show.”

The source stated that from Twitter’s standpoint, the transaction “would expand the relationship between the platform and one of its highest-profile video creators and serve as a test case for the social media network’s video ambitions under Elon Musk.”

Musk has stated his desire for the platform to attract left-leaning content providers alongside conservatives like Carlson.

The media initiative, it seems, would include not just a Twitter account but also a website and a mobile app.

According to the article, both Patel and Carlson attended Trinity College in Connecticut and eventually worked together to start the conservative news outlet The Daily Caller, which Patel currently oversees as its editor in chief.

Fox News fired Carlson in April over his Twitter business, but he is still officially under contract with the network.

Carlson’s lawyers have said he has no plans to stop posting videos to Twitter.
