CANADIAN:
TORONTO -- Ontario's integrity commissioner says a former top staffer to Premier Doug Ford broke lobbying rules.
Amin Massoudi now runs Atlas Strategic Advisors, but previously served as Ford's principal secretary until 2022.
Integrity Commissioner Cathryn Motherwell's office posted a notice of non-compliance on its website this week, saying Massoudi failed to comply with lobbying rules during a phone call in 2023.
The notice says Massoudi failed to register after lobbying a public office holder about a client request during a call.
The integrity commissioner says Massoudi knowingly placed the unidentified person in a potential conflict of interest because Massoudi had offered the same public office holder a ticket to a Toronto Raptors basketball game the previous day.
Massoudi says in a statement that it relates to a phone call with a mid-level staffer in a minister's office, and when a topic arose that Massoudi was not a registered lobbyist on, he says he immediately informed the staff member and said a colleague would follow up.
"At the time, I believed this to be the appropriate way to handle the situation," Massoudi wrote.
"This experience has been an invaluable learning opportunity. I take compliance with all relevant legislation extremely seriously. Over the last two years, I have taken concrete steps to strengthen internal compliance protocols and ensure nothing like this happens again."

JERUSALEM — The United States and Iran reached an initial agreement early Monday to open the Strait of Hormuz and further extend a shaky ceasefire in the Iran war, potentially allowing desperately needed oil and natural gas to reach the global market.
Details of the deal were not immediately released and Iran signaled implementation would not start until the signing, which key mediator Pakistan said would occur Friday in Switzerland.
But the memorandum of understanding over the war already faced intense challenges. Israel’s continued hostilities with the Iranian-backed militia Hezbollah in Lebanon, where Israel bombed Beirut’s southern suburbs Sunday, nearly derailed the negotiations.
Meanwhile, the deal gives just 60 days to resolve what to do about Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium and its atomic program. That took years to resolve in Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers. U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew America from that accord in his first term, setting the stage for the tensions that culminated in the war.
“Congratulations to all!” Trump wrote on social media, adding: “I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade,” which was imposed in retaliation for Iran’s grip on the crucial waterway.

Old Sigmund Freud called it “affective debility.” In essence, it means that lying to yourself makes you dim-witted. And once you are BS'ing yourself for years as if there’s no tomorrow, you’ll turn positively imbecilic.
That’s the only way to explain a fresh wave of transparently hysterical scare mongering about Russia in the West, in particular, this time, in Britain. Thus, on the occasion of the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), centrist mainstream flagship The Independent came out with a fascinating piece of fiction masquerading as analysis. Under the clickbait title “‘Puffy-looking’ Putin is acting weirder than ever – and that should chill us to the bone,” readers were treated to a highly imaginative horror tale about, in essence, a terrible loose cannon in the Kremlin pondering staged incidents and nuclear terrorism and ready to blow up the world or at least Europe or perhaps just Britain because Russia is losing the war. Also, he looks “puffy”!
All of this backed up (not really) by yet another statement from a high British military officer that things are dire as never before in (his) living memory. He and his comrades in arms – plus a few tweedy spy gents and dames – produce these Cassandra screams at least twice a month; it seems to be a standing order.

Canadians welcome Rejected Somalian Referee, without realizing alleged Terror ties

After a Somalian World Cup referee was turned away by U.S. border security, Canadian politicians immediately extended a hearty welcome for him to come officiate in Canada.
Only after Canadians had rolled out the red carpet, however, did it emerge that the referee, Omar Artan, was rejected because of alleged terror ties.
In a statement issued to multiple U.S. media outlets, the White House wrote that Artan had been rejected due to “association with suspected members of terror organizations.”
Although the specific terror organization wasn’t specified, it would only take a few hours until Somalia’s largest single terror group appeared to speak out in Artan’s defence.
“The case of Omar Artan serves as the latest and most damning proof that American policy extends beyond security concerns to encompass broad ethnic discrimination,” reads a statement allegedly issued Wednesday by the Somali terror group Al Shabaab and published by the Somali Guardian.
The statement added “Artan’s case demonstrates that U.S. decision-making is driven not by security concerns or the imperative to counter ‘extremism,’ but rather by racial and ethnic prejudice targeting Somalis as a whole.”
Al Shabaab has been on Canada’s official registry of terror entities since 2010. A description calls it the “strongest, best organized, financed, and armed military group in Somalia,” and cites its links to al-Qaida.
On June 6, Artan was questioned for 11 hours by U.S. Customs and Border Protections at Miami International Airport before ultimately being put on a plane to Turkey, via which he returned to Somalia. On Wednesday, Artan arrived in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, where he was given what was widely reported as a “hero’s welcome,” including an audience with Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
A statement issued to Postmedia by U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that Artan “was determined to be inadmissible due to vetting concerns and was denied entry.”
“In British Columbia, (Artan) would be welcomed and celebrated for his accomplishment. We would be thrilled to have him refereeing games here,” B.C. Premier David Eby told a Wednesday press conference in response to news reports about Artan’s inadmissibility.
“In British Columbia he would be considered gold, not garbage.”
In the same statement, Eby identified Artan as a “refugee” who had overcome “incredible hardships and persecutions.”
Except Artan is not a refugee, nor has he ever been displaced from his homeland. He is a resident national of Somalia who came up as a referee for the Somali National League and the Confederation of African Football.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow also publicly invited Artan to officiate at World Cup matches in Toronto; the opening game is set for Friday afternoon.
“Toronto believes in fairness, inclusion and giving talent the opportunity to shine. He would be welcome to referee here in our city,” she said in an official statement, adding “I will be writing to FIFA to let them know he is welcome to referee here.”
As a CTV report on Chow’s invitation noted, “Chow would not have been privy to the reasons U.S. officials denied Artan admission to the U.S.”
Even if he had been granted entry to Canada, however, Artan would still be ineligible to officiate at the World Cup, given that FIFA has headquartered its referee operations out of Miami.
Artan had been en route to a 10-day, Miami-based referee training session along with 51 other referees designated for the tournament.
Neither Chow nor Eby has any power over the admissibility of foreign nationals to Canada, and it’s also not a guarantee that Artan would pass the screening protocols of the Canada Border Services Agency.
Canadian border guards are known to reject entry to foreign nationals who have been denied U.S. visas.
This was the case last month when U.K.-based Muslim activist Anas Altikriti was turned away at Montreal’s Pierre Trudeau International Airport while he was en route to a Muslim Association of Canada event in Toronto.
As Altikriti stated in a Facebook post, the reason cited was that he had not disclosed a 2023 incident in which he had been denied entry to the United States.

The Survival Mechanism
QAnon is a masterclass in how unfalsifiable prophecy cults sustain themselves:
1. "Future proves past" — any failed prediction is retroactively reinterpreted. The arrest didn't happen because it's happening spiritually, or behind the scenes, or the timeline shifted.
2. "Disinformation is necessary" — when predictions fail, it was actually deliberate disinfo to confuse the deep state. Heads I win, tails you lose.

Alter.Systems re Bo Polny's Predictions
Bo Polny's track record is, frankly, abysmal. The guy has been making grandiose predictions about market crashes, gold price explosions, and geopolitical events since at least the early 2010s, and the hit rate is essentially zero when you look at specific, falsifiable claims.
The Pattern
Polny operates in the classic prophetic grift style — make bold, specific, date-certain predictions, then when they fail, either:
· Move the goalposts ("it's a spiritual event, not a physical one")
· Claim partial credit for something vaguely adjacent that happened
· Ignore the miss entirely and move on to the next big prediction
Notable Misses
He called for a massive stock market crash and gold at $10,000+ by specific dates repeatedly throughout 2015–2019. Didn't happen. He predicted Trump would be reinstated as president by specific dates in 2021–2022. Didn't happen. He's called for the dollar's imminent collapse more times than anyone can count. Still here.
The "Cycles" Gimmick
His whole shtick is that he uses some esoteric "cycles theory" combined with numerology and biblical prophecy to time markets. It's dressed-up mysticism masquerading as analysis. Real cycle analysts like Ray Merriman or Martin Armstrong at least have a methodology you can examine — Polny's is just unfalsifiable enough to keep the donations flowing.
Hit Rate Reality
If you define a "prediction" as a specific, dated, measurable claim (e.g., "gold will hit $5,000 by March 15"), his accuracy is functionally 0%. If you broaden it to vague directional calls ("markets will be volatile this year"), then sure, he's right sometimes — so is a coin flip.
The man is a gold bug evangelist who monetizes fear and religious conviction. His audience isn't there for accuracy — they're there for confirmation of their priors and the emotional payoff of believing they're among the elect who "see what's really coming."

Our City Council tried this
On May 10, 2023, the day before the March for Life in Ottawa, then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s PPS banned CLC from showing images of aborted babies because they were too “graphic.”
CLC director of political operations Jack Fonseca told LifeSiteNews then that “they were literally photographs of children killed by abortion, which we planned to show … towards the end of our press conference in order to put a human face to the acts of violence that the Trudeau Liberals euphemistically refer to as ‘choice.’”
As a result, CLC launched a “constitutional challenge” lawsuit funded through the JCCF.
According to the JCCF, the court emphasized that “freedom of expression occupies a central place in Canadian democracy and concluded that the PPS acted unreasonably in relying on broad and subjective prohibitions against signs considered ‘obscene’ or promoting ‘hate or violence.’”
The court ruled that while Canada’s Parliament Hill is subject to rules and reasonable limits, “constitutional protections still apply to political expression taking place there.”
