The U.S. charged Lawrence Bishnoi, the head of the Bishnoi gang, and a top Canada-based lieutenant, in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar

The United States has charged Lawrence Bishnoi, the imprisoned head of an Indian criminal gang, and his North American deputy with directing the 2023 murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep ​Singh Nijjar in Canada, which plunged relations between Ottawa and New Delhi into crisis.

 

A ‌federal indictment unsealed in Los Angeles alleges Bishnoi and Satinderjeet Singh, also known as “Goldy Brar,” ordered the shooting of Nijjar outside a Sikh temple in the Vancouver suburb of Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18, 2023.

 

The indictment says Bishnoi ​directed the operation from an Indian jail cell using smuggled cellphones and provided a co-conspirator ​with a photograph and multiple addresses of Nijjar’s to facilitate the killing. Singh, ⁠a childhood friend of Bishnoi, allegedly directed the North American operations of the criminal group, known as ​the “Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group.”

 

Nijjar’s killing triggered a diplomatic crisis after then-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said ​months later that Canadian authorities were “actively pursuing credible allegations” linking Indian government agents to the murder. New Delhi rejected the claim as absurd.

 

The US indictment charging Bishnoi and Singh does not allege any Indian government role in the killing.

 

Nijjar, ​a Canadian citizen, had campaigned for the creation of Khalistan, an independent Sikh homeland carved out of ​India, and had been designated a terrorist by New Delhi.



Neither First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli nor any other ‌official ⁠at a press conference in Los Angeles alleged that the Indian government was involved in or aware of the killing.


The charges against Bishnoi and Singh were part of a broader investigation by US and Canadian authorities that charged 37 defendants tied to three India-based organized crime groups with racketeering, extortion and drug ​trafficking, 24 of whom ​were arrested or already ⁠in custody, authorities said.

 

Canadian police in May 2024 arrested and charged four Indian nationals over Nijjar’s killing, and have said they were probing whether the men had ​ties to the Indian government. The US indictment does not name the ​alleged shooters as ⁠defendants, referring to them only as co-conspirators.

 

Relations between Ottawa and New Delhi have thawed under Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who visited India in February on his first official trip and opened talks on a trade ⁠deal expected ​to be completed by November.

 

His approach has drawn criticism from ​some Sikh groups, who accuse Ottawa of failing to hold India accountable or safeguard Sikh Canadians from foreign interference and transnational repression.

Former Obama press aide fired from Minneapolis post over alleged theft of coworkers' cash and credit cards

Adam Fetcher, a 42-year-old former deputy national press secretary in the Obama administration, was fired from his role as Minneapolis's chief communications officer on July 1 after city investigators concluded he had stolen cash and payment cards from fellow employees and used at least one stolen credit card to buy $481 worth of kratom at a local smoke shop.


Minneapolis police have submitted the case to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for possible felony-level criminal charges. A spokesman for County Attorney Mary Moriarty told the Washington Examiner the case "has been submitted for charging consideration and is currently under review."


The alleged thefts took place over several weeks between May and June, just weeks after Fetcher returned from a nine-week, city-approved leave of absence for treatment of a substance use disorder. Surveillance footage from a south Minneapolis smoke shop reportedly captured Fetcher using a stolen card to make the kratom purchase, which could constitute a felony under Minnesota state law.


From the Obama White House to a Minneapolis smoke shop

Fetcher's résumé reads like a progressive communications dream sheet. He served as a spokesman during President Obama's first term and 2012 reelection campaign, then moved through senior roles at Patagonia, Rivian, and Lyft before Minneapolis hired him in July 2025 as the city's first-ever chief communications officer. His salary: $186,000 a year, Fox News reported. Less than a year into the job, investigators say he was rifling through coworkers' belongings.


Three city employees were allegedly victimized. In one incident, Fetcher reportedly took a charge card from a coworker's purse. The total dollar amount of cash and cards taken across all victims has not been disclosed publicly, though the single documented kratom purchase alone reached $481.


Smoke shop manager says staff confronted Fetcher

Hamza Zamara, the store manager at Minneapolis Tobacco & Vapor, described confronting Fetcher directly. As the New York Post reported, Zamara told investigators what he told Fetcher to his face:

"We told him, Hey, we know what you're doing."


Kratom is an herbal supplement commonly used to treat opioid withdrawal symptoms. Its presence in the case raises obvious questions about the nature of Fetcher's substance use disorder and whether his city-approved rehabilitation was effective, questions no official has answered publicly.


The city has not disclosed what substance Fetcher was treated for during his nine-week leave. But the timeline is hard to ignore: he returned to work in mid-April, and investigators allege the thefts began within weeks.


City leadership responds, carefully

City Operations Officer Margaret Anderson Kelliher addressed the situation in an email to city employees, as Fox News reported:


"I know this information may be concerning and troubling, and I want to assure you that the City takes this sort of report seriously and has acted accordingly."

That assurance may ring hollow for the three employees who allegedly had their wallets raided at work. The city fired Fetcher on July 1, but no arrest has been confirmed, and the Hennepin County Attorney's Office has not announced charges. The case remains "under review."


Whether Mary Moriarty's office pursues felony charges will be worth watching. Progressive prosecutors across the country have drawn criticism for declining to bring charges in cases with clear evidence, a pattern that has fueled broader debates about accountability in the justice system.


A pattern of Democratic credibility gaps

Fetcher's fall is a personal story, but it lands in a political context that matters. The Obama alumni network has long traded on its reputation for competence and moral seriousness. Fetcher himself built a career on that brand, moving from the White House briefing room to corporate sustainability roles at companies that market progressive values, then into city government.


The gap between the image and the alleged conduct is the story. A $186,000-a-year communications chief, hired to burnish Minneapolis's public image, allegedly couldn't stop himself from stealing a coworker's credit card to buy kratom at a tobacco shop down the road from City Hall.


Minneapolis taxpayers funded a nine-week rehabilitation leave for Fetcher. They paid his salary while he was away. They welcomed him back. And within weeks, investigators say, he was victimizing the people who sat next to him at work. That is not a story about addiction alone. It is a story about whether the institutions that hire, protect, and excuse certain people are serving the public or serving themselves.


The Democratic Party's ongoing struggles with credibility and messaging extend well beyond one fired staffer. But cases like this illustrate why voters grow skeptical of a political class that preaches accountability while its alumni collect six-figure salaries and allegedly pocket their coworkers' Visa cards.


What remains unanswered

Several key questions remain open. Fetcher has made no public statement in response to the allegations. The City of Minneapolis has not issued a formal statement beyond Kelliher's internal email. The total dollar amount stolen, across cash and cards from three employees, has not been disclosed.


Most important: will the Hennepin County Attorney's Office file charges? Under Minnesota law, a single fraudulent credit card purchase of $481 could reach felony-level theft. Multiple thefts from multiple victims over several weeks could compound the exposure significantly.


The judiciary's approach to accountability has itself become a flashpoint in American politics, with progressive prosecutors and judges drawing scrutiny for how they handle cases involving politically connected defendants.


Fetcher's case, as Just the News first detailed, now sits squarely in the hands of a county attorney's office that will have to decide whether a former White House aide gets treated like anyone else who allegedly steals from the people around him.

The growing list of Democratic figures whose conduct fails to match their public posture is not a coincidence. It is a pattern, and voters are keeping score.


Addiction deserves compassion. Theft from coworkers deserves prosecution. The two are not in conflict, and any system that treats them as though they are has stopped working for the people it claims to protect.

Just to clarify what I wrote in yesterday's email about the video titled, "The death of England and return to Orthodoxy".  Someone discovered this prophecy which followed the death of the Orthodox saint and first king of England, when he (Edmund) was martyred a thousand years ago.  


I pointed out that the predictions Don and I made in our videos were based on our 6 Cycles Chart [published in spring 2015].  All three videos refer to a "last Jihad" in Islamic prophecy, and a "last Crusade" in Catholic and Orthodox prophecy.  Don and I believe that this "last Crusade" must be carried out by Orthodox Russia which is strong enough to do it (not the Catholic Church).  But, like all other Russian wars, it will not be a war to gain territory - the Russians will retreat from Europe as soon as they have eliminated the western threat.

A few months before Charlie Kirk was shot dead on a university campus, I had a long conversation with him — almost an hour.

He was worried about Canadian universities. The cancel culture. The silencing of conservative students. The indoctrination factories he had spent his entire career fighting south of the border. He had seen it up close, and he asked me: were we going to fight back?


I told him yes.

Then, on September 10, 2025, a politically motivated sniper climbed onto a rooftop at Utah Valley University and put a bullet in Charlie Kirk’s neck while he was doing exactly what he always did — standing up for free speech on a university campus.

I’ve thought about that conversation a lot since then.


Because Charlie understood something that too many people on our side still refuse to face: the university campus isn’t just where young people go to get degrees. It’s where the woke mob is manufactured. It’s where the cancel culture foot soldiers are recruited, trained, and radicalized — before being sent out into the world to tear down everything we hold dear.


We’ve made real gains. Independent media is getting stronger. We win (sometimes) in the courts. And the battle for free speech has new allies, like Elon Musk and his social media platform, X.

But the woke machine at our universities is still running at full capacity.


You know the stories: Lindsay Shepherd was a 22-year-old teaching assistant at Wilfrid Laurier University. She showed a short video clip of Jordan Peterson in class — as part of a lecture on a controversial topic. Her professors hauled her into an interrogation and compared her to a Nazi showing propaganda films. This past January, Conservative MP Garnett Genuis was refused permission to hold an event at York University. A sitting Member of Parliament — barred from speaking to students.


Those are just the stories that got coverage. Every day, thousands of our students sit down, stay quiet, and self-censor — terrified of being destroyed by the mob before their careers have even started.


And nobody is fighting for them.

If we don’t fight at the source — inside the lecture halls and student unions where the actual indoctrination happens — we’re only ever chopping heads off a hydra. It will keep growing new ones.

And right now, on Canadian campuses, our side has nobody.


The Conservative Party’s campus clubs are too nervous to stick their necks out for anyone — they don’t want to risk their political careers. No think tank is focused on campuses. The faith communities, the advocacy organizations — all doing important work, but few of them are walking through the doors of our universities.


That is why The Democracy Fund is launching Canadian Students for Free Speech — a TDF-led national network that will establish student-led, officially recognized free speech clubs on every post-secondary campus in Canada.

This person will travel coast to coast — from UBC to Dalhousie — recruiting student leaders, running training weekends, coordinating speaker tours, managing club applications, and fielding that call at midnight when a dean suddenly decides to cancel a student event. They will be the spine of the entire operation.


Beyond the salary, there are real costs to account for: printed materials for clubs at dozens of campuses, travel expenses for our speakers, legal fees when universities try to block or deregister our clubs, and the infrastructure to run a national student network. This is not a small project. But then again, losing an entire generation to indoctrination is no small matter.


Charlie Kirk gave his life on a university campus, fighting for exactly this. The least we can do is show up. There are three ways you can help right now:

Canada open to International Gangster Terrorism [from India]

Bishnoi’s name, even though his physical presence has long been absent from the streets, has spread widely, making him an almost legendary underworld figure — an ominous ghost — not only in the crowded streets of his homeland [India] but into the sprawling suburbs of Canada, where murder, extortions, shootings, arsons and threats have frustrated Canadian police and stoked community fear.

The RCMP said it’s “aware” of an allegation that a Canada Border Services Agency employee passed along information to a member of the Dhanda drug trafficking ring [India] for the purposes of smuggling drugs across the border into Canada but would not confirm an investigation.


The indictment stems from an international investigation headed by the FBI’s Los Angeles office called “Operation Hard Ball” that resulted in charges against 37 people linked to Indian organized crime groups. As well as the Dhanda ring, police rounded up members of the Bishnoi transnational criminal network led by Lawrence Bishnoi and another gang, led by Jaggu Bhagwanpuri. Both men are in prison in India.


The Dhanda drug trafficking network “would transport, smuggle, and distribute hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine each week” from the U.S. into Canada. This was accomplished by concealing drugs on long-haul semi-trucks and farm trucks used on working farms near the border, police say.
