Freedom of Information?

GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau’s pledge of open access to government information lies in ruins:

Among all of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s broken promises, the most cynical has been the abandonment of his pledge in the 2015 election campaign that brought him to power, to deliver open and transparent government to Canadians.

 

“Government data and information should be open by default in formats that are modern and easy to use,” the Liberals promised in 2015.

“Data paid for by Canadians belongs to Canadians. We will restore trust in our democracy and that begins with trusting Canadians. We will make government information more accessible. We will update the Access to Information Act to meet this standard …”

 

“We will ensure that Access to Information applies to the Prime Minister’s and Minister’s offices … We will make it easier for Canadians to access their own information. Canadians have a right to their personal information held by the government.”

Nine years later, these promises lie in ruins.

Other than limiting the cost to the public of requesting information from the federal government under the access law to $5, plus a few other minor reforms in 2019, Trudeau and the Liberals appear to have little interest in fixing an access to information system that is in chaos, other than to review the much-criticized legislation again in 2025.


In October 2023, federal Information Commissioner Caroline Maynard reported that despite the fact the access to information law passed in 1983 “is outdated and no longer meets the expectations or needs of Canadians … the response from the government is clear. There is no legislative change on the horizon. Frankly, Canadians deserve much better.”


In her 2022-23 annual report released in June 2023, Maynard said the access to information system had deteriorated “to the point where it no longer serves its intended purpose.”

In her 2021-22 annual report released in June 2022, she said it was unacceptable that the Trudeau government was still using the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse for ignoring reporting deadlines in the legislation.


In May 2021, following an investigation of access to information requests submitted by the public to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Maynard said the system was antiquated and overwhelmed.


She reported that in 2019-20, the fiscal year before the pandemic hit, IRCC received 116,928 access to information requests – compared to 39,294 for all other government institutions combined – and only succeeded in processing half of them (51%) within the required 30 days.

Maynard said there were 4,298 complaints to her office from the public that year alone about how long it was taking IRCC to process requests for information, the most by far for any government agency, leading to a backlog of unresolved complaints across the entire system.


In a follow-up report earlier this month, Maynard said the backlog in access to information requests to the IRCC has been compounded by a new backlog of requests to the Canadian Border Services Agency, which has access to the same data.

Maynard said Canadians should not have to go through the access to information process at all to receive information about themselves or relatives – that information should be available to them online as a matter of routine.

These chronic delays aren’t just administrative foul-ups. They cause real heartaches and hardships to people.

In January, I did a story about a Canadian family whose mother died still waiting for information from the IRCC to complete her application for permanent residence in Canada – 19 months after the request was made in June 2022, and four months after she died in September 2023.


Maynard says, “The Access to Information Act was never meant as a substitute for providing individuals what they need and expect from the federal government: timely access to the information they need to make decisions that affect them.

“This information should be made available to them directly, through modern digital service delivery methods.”

Last week, Maynard testified before the Commons committee on access to information that the government has cut her office budget by 5% ($700,000), further limiting its ability to address complaints from the public about the government’s lack of timely responses to inquiries under the access to information law.


The government says the cut is based on a formula to help compensate for negotiated salary increases within the public service, but in the real world, $700,000 is chump change to a government that spent $60 million on an ArriveCan app that was supposed to cost $80,000 to develop.


The more likely explanation is that the Trudeau government has decided to ignore repeated warnings and complaints that the federal access to information system is in chaos and to undermine Maynard’s efforts to improve it.

The W.H.A. Adopted Amendments to the I.H.R. What now?

Dear friends, for many months we have been actively working to stop the International Health Regulations amendments from passing at the 77th World Health Assembly meeting in Geneva last week. That meeting has now come and gone.

What has happened? Did the WHA pass IHR amendments? Did they advance the Pandemic Preparedness Treaty? What is our current position? What are our next steps to stop medical tyranny and the abuse of men, women and children everywhere?

 

To answer these questions, I reached out to one of the world’s foremost experts on the WHO: James Roguski. James has kept an endless vigil over the WHO for the past four years.  In this conversation James gets straight to the bottom of what has happened with the IHR amendments, what it reveals about the plans of the WHO and their accomplices, and what we should do next.

 

While many are celebrating things that the WHA did not accomplish last week, we must remain sober and look at what they did accomplish, and what that revealed.

Here is the International Health Regulations as amended and adopted on 2024-06-01 by the World Health Aseembly. James recomends we pay particular attention to Articles 1, 4, 12, 13, 24, 27, 31, 35, 44, 44bis, 54bis, and Annexes 1, 4, and 6.

The Left hates the idea of fair elections. But now they have been caught doing the unthinkable.

 

And a liberal state [Nevada] has suffered a devastating loss after being sued for unlawful election practices.

The Republican National Committee (RNC), former President Donald Trump’s campaign, and the Nevada Republican Party have taken legal action against the state of Nevada over its handling of mail-in ballots.

 

The lawsuit, filed recently, challenges Nevada’s practice of counting mail-in ballots that are received the day after an election and do not contain postmarks, which the plaintiffs argue is a violation of state law.

In a press release on Monday, the RNC underscored that Nevada law mandates mail-in ballots to be postmarked on or before Election Day to be considered valid.

 

Michael Whatley, the chairman of the RNC, emphasized that counting ballots received after the day of the election without postmarks creates a significant risk of fraud, thus undermining the integrity of the state’s electoral process.

“Counting ballots received after Election Day without a postmark creates a concerning and potentially fraudulent impact on Nevada’s elections,” Whatley stated.

 

“We are filing this lawsuit to ensure that Nevada law is followed and to promote election integrity in the Silver State.”

The RNC detailed in their press release that it had uncovered instances where Nevada election officials were routinely counting non-postmarked mail ballots received after Election Day, contrary to what the law stipulates.

This practice, they contend, opens the door to potential election fraud and discrepancies that could alter the outcomes of close races.

 

The lawsuit names several defendants, including Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar, Washoe County Registrar of Voters Jan Galassini, Washoe County Clerk Lorena Portillo, Clark County Registrar of Voters Lynn Marie Goya, and Clark County Clerk Cari-Ann Burgess.

The RNC, Trump campaign and Nevada GOP are seeking judicial enforcement of strict adherence to the state’s post-election day counting regulations.

 

Former Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak (D) signed Assembly Bill (AB) 321 into law in June 2021, making mail-in voting practices a permanent fixture in Nevada’s election system.

According to the Daily Indy, AB 321 allows mail-in ballots that are sent up to four days after the election to be counted, a provision that the lawsuit challenges as being improperly implemented without proper postmark verification.

 

“We are committed to ensuring the integrity of Nevada’s elections and inspiring voter confidence,” said Michael McDonald, the chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, in the press release.

“Allowing ballots without postmarks to be illegally counted undermines both. We will continue to fight for fair elections for all Nevadans where only legal votes are counted and the system is secure.”

 

This lawsuit is part of a broader effort by Republican groups to address what they see as problematic mail-in voting practices that have emerged in various states since the 2020 election.

Similar legal challenges have been filed in Mississippi and North Dakota, where the counting of mail-in ballots received after Election Day has also been contested.

 

The issue of mail-in ballots has become a contentious topic in recent years, with many Americans arguing that lax rules and enforcement can lead to widespread voter fraud and undermine the public’s trust in the electoral system.

The outcome of this lawsuit could have significant implications for future elections in Nevada and potentially set a precedent for how mail-in ballots are handled nationwide.

 

As the 2024 election approaches, the integrity and security of the voting process remain critical issues that both parties are keenly focused on.

Saturday is Naked – ‘Bike Ride’ Day:

You don't have to accept this kind of behavior.

Last year's nudity at Pride events was just the tip of the iceberg.

The Toronto Police Service, fully aware of Canada's public decency laws, ignored the blatant violations.

They continued to wrap their cruisers in Pride colors while they turned a blind eye to public indecency.

This double standard is outrageous.

The World Naked Bike Ride has become a traffic-stopping annual tradition in the 20 years since it began, with riders stripping down to their socks (though many sport colourful body paint) and cycling around their city.

Public decency laws are strictly enforced everywhere else, except during Pride Parades. Even a Toronto Police officer admitted it's only okay at the Pride Parade, despite it still being ILLEGAL.

There is no legal exception to full public nudity!

This must end.

This is getting out of hand.

It was bad enough that children last year were exposed to FULLY NAKED people attempting to normalize the sexually explicit LGBT lifestyle during last year's Pride Parade.

But it's not just the LGBTers who are the only ones undressing this June.

Did you know Toronto has been overrun by fully nude cyclists for a couple of decades now?

The World Naked Bike Ride is happening again this Saturday, June 8.

And they plan to flash everyone they meet throughout the city, including our children!

Toronto's busy streets will be filled with fully grown adults cycling past countless parks and pedestrians wearing absolutely nothing.

To make matters even worse, the event organizers fully know they are breaking the law and that Toronto Police are uninterested in maintaining public decency, especially when it will be in full view of impressionable young minds.

So far, over 10,000 people have raised their voices against public acts of indecency. 

With your help, I know we can make it to 15,000.


With your help and common sense, we can continue protecting children from future acts of public indecency.

Get Equipped for "Colourful Conversations"!

Gospel witness involves applying Christ’s Law to the lies and unbelief of culture. That’s why we’re surrounded everyday with evangelism opportunities to patiently teach sinners the truth of Christ and His Word…and the entire month of June is certainly no different!


This past week three Christian girls from our church were suspended by their high school for posting on social media an invitation to a peaceful protest against the raising of the rainbow flag on public property. Sadly, within our current climate of cancel culture in Canada, anyone who's "against" anything is automatically labelled a phobic and/or hater.But because we're command by Christ to love others in His truth, He brought a wonderful gospel opportunity for yours truly to bear witness to the true history of His rainbow while also supporting our sisters in Christ for their faithfulness!


That's why, to equip the saints onsite for confident and "colourful conversations", I put together a simple gospel booklet to test in the field for myself (see download link below).

 

With this evangelism tool in hand, I then met (names changed) Bailey, a professing Christian and Pride supporter and Amir, a professing Muslim.


Together they approached me and pointedly asked, "Why are you here?" Good question!A pic of me sharing the history of God's rainbow with two new friends and Pride supporters at a public high school.Passing my new friends a booklet, I responded by simply reading the question on the front: "Have you heard the history of the rainbow? We all know that history is important, or we wouldn't celebrate Black History Month.


So, can I share with you why this particular history is actually a promise from our past and warning for the future?"Because the Holy Spirit was at work (and I was not quarrelsome!)...they were very willing to talk! So I took the time to walk them through the truth of God's rainbow and gospel contained in the booklet, as follows...

The rainbow is God’s sign of the covenant promise He made with the whole earth to never destroy the earth again with a flood. Historically, the rainbow is literally correlated to rainfall.At the beginning of human history we’re told, “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.” (Genesis 6:5, NIV)This human evil and wickedness grieved God so much that He determined to destroy everything with the breath of life in it.


Only one righteous man, Noah, found favour in His eyes. God told Noah that He would send a great flood to judge the entire globe by judging it with water.God graciously provided a way for Noah, his wife, his three sons, their wives, the land animals, and birds (fish and other sea creatures could survive in the water) to be saved from his judgement within a huge ark.


After the waters of the flood receded and Noah and his family exited the ark, God said:“I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, 


“This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”  (Genesis 9:11-13, NIV)

God’s rainbow is our promise from the past.

 

But God’s rainbow is also our warning for the future...During His earthly ministry, God the Son (Jesus) warned, “For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:37-39, ESV)


God’s Word also warns, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, NKJV)By God’s holy standard, we are all unrighteous and deserving of His eternal judgment. However, there is hope! Jesus is the ark of our salvation and only One who can save you from


God’s righteous judgment to come.



The gospel is the good news that our perfectly just and loving Creator God Who continually blesses us, has looked upon hopelessly sinful humanity and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to bear His wrath in our place. Through His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave, Jesus showed His supreme power over sin and death so that everyone who turns from their sin and trusts in Jesus alone as both Saviour and Lord will be made righteous and reconciled to God now and forever for His glory.


Any attempt to co-opt the colours and message of God’s rainbow can’t change the true history of Whose it is and what it means. However, repenting of your sin and receiving God’s free gift of salvation through His Son can forever change your future from eternal judgment to eternal glory with Him!

After receiving the gospel booklet and having a heart-to-heart conversation about our sin and God's judgment, both Bailey and Amir thanked me for my "reasonable approach" and then shared the contents of the booklet with their Pride supporting peers.I praise God for another opportunity for winsome gospel witness! Please pray that He graciously grows the seed of His Word that I planted in the hearts of many who heard the history of His rainbow on that beautiful day.

Our team just got back from Geneva, and let me tell you, the showdown of the Pandemic Treaty was nothing short of epic. What an incredible journey it has been!


Thanks to your unwavering support, and that of 2.5 million citizens, with our relentless team on the ground, we managed to stir things up, expose their agenda, and most importantly for now, stall their Pandemic Treaty!

A few minutes before midnight on Saturday, the verdict came in on the two WHO documents.


Here’s what happened - the WHO has been forced to extend the negotiation process for the Pandemic Treaty by a year, pushing it to the next World Health Assembly.

They ran out of time - despite moving deadlines repeatedly, breaking all schedule rules, and negotiating till as late as 4 am!


You have been part of this crucial victory, and I thank you on behalf of my team and the millions of citizens who have participated in this epic battle against the UN elites!

This victory also gives us more time to keep fighting and keep the pressure on.


On the ground in Geneva, we were everywhere – from intense pressure on delegates and decision-makers to high-energy protests - our van was even stopped by the police, but that never deterred us.


Our two-year-long campaign has been a whirlwind of relentless effort - and it’s paying off!

The UN was infuriated by our presence - because CitizenGO has been the relentless force against the Pandemic Treaty. We have been the ONLY ones, session after session, persistently standing firm and applying pressure from every angle to stall their sinister plans. 


They thought their secrecy would protect them - that they could quietly push this through behind closed doors. 

But then we showed up - and we have been their worst nightmare, ever since!

We exposed their plans, and they realized the power of our movement. They were shaken, knowing the overwhelming pressure from countless voices outside was too immense to ignore.


This shows that when we unite and fight, we can achieve extraordinary results.

The Battle Isn’t Over

While we celebrate this victory, we must remain vigilant. There is still a huge battle to keep fighting.

Despite the missed deadline, the amendments to the International Health Regulations were approved by consensus, at the very last second, breaking every rule possible.


This is the second parallel document that pushes for the unilateral declaration of pandemic emergencies by the WHO, amongst other restrictive measures in times of “crises”.

They were just desperate to come out with something, so they managed to ram this through, with a third of the member states in the room!

They couldn't take a humiliating defeat from all sides, after everything they had invested. Their desperation is pathetic!

But they are fuming! As much as the WHO Director-General tries to cover it up, globalists are infuriated that they couldn’t progress in the way they had expected.


For now, this is just a quick update to keep you in the loop and report on what has just happened in Geneva - In a few days, you will receive a more complete report, with videos and photos of all the activities we have carried out these days, so you can feel proud of all that you have achieved.

Liberals mock those who care about foreign interference:

Feds [Liberals] admit they were never certain COVID-19 vaccines prevented transmission:

Federal public health authorities didn’t know if COVID-19 vaccines would prevent transmission but they foisted sweeping vaccine mandates on Canadians anyway.

 

Despite repeated claims from the Liberals that unvaccinated Canadians were transmitting COVID-19 to vaccinated people, Canada’s health agency admitted it was never sure the shots would prevent the spread of the virus.

In response to an order paper question from Conservative MP Colin Carrie, the Public Health Agency of Canada wrote that suspected vaccines prevented transmission but wasn’t sure.

 

“In Dec. 2020, COVID-19 vaccine guidance from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization to PHAC and stakeholders emphasized uncertainty surrounding the ability of COVID-19 vaccines to prevent transmission and the need for ongoing monitoring,” said the reply, signed by Yasir Naqvi, the parliamentary secretary to the health minister.


“Emerging evidence suggested preventing infections and some degree of prevention of transmission was achievable…However, the emergence of highly transmissible variants like Omicron at the end of 2021 made the efficacy of prevention measures, including booster doses, less certain.”

During the 2021 election campaign, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said unvaccinated Canadians were putting “vaccinated people at risk.”

By the end of 2021, the omicron variant of the virus had spread through Canada despite all the measures that segregated the vaccinated from the unvaccinated, causing the Public Health Agency to become “less certain,” that the vaccines affected transmissibility.

 

The health agency reaffirmed that despite being informed of a lack of evidence suggesting that vaccine mandates would reduce transmissibility, the government nonetheless implemented its segregation policies, contributing to the Freedom Convoy protest against vaccine mandates in 2022.

 

Omicron arrived in Canada from international travel at the end of Nov. 2021. Trudeau’s government banned unvaccinated Canadians from boarding trains and planes in October 2021 and imposed a sweeping mandate on federal public servants.

Trudeau continued to blame unvaccinated people for putting other Canadians at risk in 2022.

Carrie also asked if the government and Public Health Agency of Canada worked with the World Health Organization’s Strategic Group of Experts on Vaccination and Immunization, Vaccines Together and the International Vaccine Institute when informing the governments’ implementation of vaccine passports and mandates, but the agency said it did not.
