The big thing for most people today, is "AI" ... which I quietly laugh at, because it is simply a "tool" in the decision making process.
Something I developed a long time ago is the "Managerial Pursuit of CI" ... which all of mankind really needs in order to thrive, and survive.
"CI" ... is simple, but loaded in wisdom, and common sense, It means Continuous Improvement!
Not in a particular project or instance, it is ensuring that every proposed managerial change from the norm .. (past practices, or always did) to ALWAYS endeavouring to "improve" the current practices.
That can be in many different ways, but Any, and ALL of them have one simple ending ... by Continuously Improving ... those who we serve.
Most companies reward through various means, money, Board positioning, successful reviews, etc.etc.
The actual truth of the matter is that when those whom we serve, be it monetarily, lower tax rates, higher marketplace values, and on, and on, simply end up Improving whatever past practices have developed.
The real winners are those in charge who constantly strive to make better current results, and I know all of the above to be the truth.
The choice, as always ... is yours, .. same old, or this is not working and we need to change it for OUR benefit!!

In the spring of 2020, Washington paid $21.9 billion to 1,197 hospitals for COVID admissions the hospitals counted themselves. One hospital executive who checked his own system’s numbers alleged that half the patients never tested positive. The Justice Department declined his case. The Inspector General audited the months after the loophole closed and called the system clean. Six years later, nobody in government can tell you whether the count was true. Here is the ledger.
On Thursday, May 7, 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services began pushing money into the bank accounts of 395 American hospitals. No application. No invoice. No chart review. The deposits were automatic (GAO), calculated at a flat $76,975 for every COVID-19 patient each hospital said it had been admitted by April 10 (HRSA).
The admission numbers came from the hospitals. HHS picked the recipients “based on self-reported admissions data” (Baker Donelson).
Within days, the chief executive of a community hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey, did something nobody in Washington had done. He looked at the number. Holy Name Medical Center had been wired $213.4 million, the second-largest award in the country. “After receiving our funding, it quickly became clear to us that the amount received was too generous,” Mike Maron told ROI-NJ. “We notified HHS immediately” (ROI-NJ). The federal payment file marks the money returned on June 3, 2020 (CDC).
Hold on to that. The largest correction in the high-impact program came from the recipient picking up the phone. Not from HHS. Not from an auditor. Not from a single control the federal government built.
The federal government put a price on a diagnosis, paid it out to 1,197 hospitals, and has never once reconciled the admission counts against the medical records. No theory required. The payment file sits on a CDC server right now, dataset b58h-s9zx, downloadable by anyone with a browser. I downloaded it. This is what is in it, and what is missing from it.
The man who said it first
I found the payment structure in 2020. A Minnesota physician said it out loud first.
On April 8, 2020, State Senator Scott Jensen, a family doctor from Chaska, told Fox News that “anytime health care intersects with dollars it gets awkward,” and that Medicare would pay roughly $13,000 for a COVID admission and $39,000 if the patient went on a ventilator (FactCheck.org). Days later he went further: “Hospital administrators might well want to see COVID-19 attached to a discharge summary or a death certificate” (Reason).
By July, the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice was investigating two complaints against his license, which Jensen said centered on “misinformation” and “reckless advice.” The board dismissed both without action (Star Tribune). FactCheck.org, meanwhile, conceded his dollar figures “generally square with estimated Medicare payments,” and moved on to the question of motive (FactCheck.org).
Motive was never the right question. Verification was. Jensen’s numbers were Medicare’s. They were the small money.
The fee schedule
Two federal payment streams attached dollars to the COVID label in spring 2020. Neither one required anyone to prove the label was true.
Layer one: Medicare. Section 3710 of the CARES Act raised the payment weight by 20 percent for every Medicare inpatient diagnosed with COVID-19 (HHS OIG). Kaiser Family Foundation estimated the base payments: $13,297 on average for a respiratory admission with major complications, $40,218 for a patient on a ventilator more than 96 hours (FactCheck.org). Add the 20 percent and the ventilated patient runs about $48,000.
Layer two: the high-impact money. This is the part the fact-checkers missed entirely, because in April 2020 it did not exist yet. Round 1, $12 billion, paid $76,975 per COVID admission through April 10. Round 2, $10 billion, paid $50,000 per admission from January 1 through June 10 (HRSA). This money did not care whether the patient had Medicare, private insurance, or nothing. It cared about the count.
Stack the layers on one ventilated Medicare patient at a Round 1 hospital. Roughly $48,000 plus $76,975. Call it $125,000, attached to a single admission. More than the typical American household earns in a year.

Living or dead, the hospital collected the same. The incentive never needed a body. It needed a code. And the code is what walked onto the death certificates.

5. Anthropic considers another US$45-billion cloud-computing commitment
Facts: Nvidia-backed cloud provider Nscale is discussing a new arrangement to supply Anthropic with computing capacity that could be worth approximately US$45 billion, according to a source cited by Reuters.
