Emergency Act decision is not legally binding.

(Government can't judge itself.)

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms said the decision was 'disappointing' but reminded Canadians it is not legally binding.

OTTAWA (LifeSiteNews) –– Prominent Canadian lawyers, pundits and politicians blasted today’s ruling by Liberal-friendly Justice Paul Rouleau, which outright exonerated Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government’s use of the Emergencies Act (EA) to crush the Freedom Convoy last year.

“So it appears very clear that the judiciary in Canada is now as compromised as the government itself,” tweeted famed Canadian psychologist and author Jordan Peterson.

So it appears very clear that the judiciary in Canada is now as compromised as the government itself @PardyBruce https://t.co/gqqzJnrwou pic.twitter.com/PbJsQEE1z4

— Dr Jordan B Peterson (@jordanbpeterson) February 17, 2023

Elaborating, Peterson pulled no punches, adding:

The fact that the Canadian “authorities” have concluded that the Trucker convoy conspired an insurrection severe enough to warrant war measures action by the feds should strike horror into the heart of every Canadian who values freedom.

— Dr Jordan B Peterson (@jordanbpeterson) February 17, 2023

This means, just to clear, that all future governments, conservative to socialist, can now use the full might of the state against all who dare to raise a protest.

— Dr Jordan B Peterson (@jordanbpeterson) February 17, 2023

Alberta-based political commentator Paul Mitchell was also direct in his assessment regarding Rouleau’s ruling, writing on Twitter, “As expected. Rigged bull****,” before adding, “Canada is a banana republic.”

‘Corruption at its finest,’ says former federal minister

People’s Party of Canada (PPC) leader Maxime Bernier, who was a former Conservative MP and cabinet minister, likewise took a shot at Rouleau’s ruling, saying it showed a strong bias toward the prime minister’s Liberal Party.

Liberal corruption at its finest. pic.twitter.com/AodRizb0le

— Maxime Bernier (@MaximeBernier) February 17, 2023

Canadian lawyer and social media personality Viva Frei also chimed in, lamenting that “Canada is dead.”

Canada is dead.

— Viva Frei (@thevivafrei) February 17, 2023

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), who represented Freedom Convoy leader Tamara Lich, who was jailed for weeks on non-violent mischief charges related to the protest, said it was “disappointed” with today’s ruling, but reminded the public that Rouleau’s decision has no legal standing.

“This conclusion does not bind the Federal Court,” said the JCCF. “On April 3-5, 2023, in Ottawa, the Federal Court will hear the legal and constitutional challenge in Jost et al v Canada to the declaration of an emergency in response to the Freedom Convoy.”

Trudeau is the one who ‘caused the emergency’

Following the ruling, Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) leader Pierre Poilievre held a press conference to address the media and give his reaction.

While Poilievre did not seem to condemn Rouleau’s ruling outright, he did skewer Trudeau for his implementation of “unscientific” COVID mandates that caused the Freedom Convoy protest to begin with, and accused the prime minister of inflaming the situation as a way to “distract” and “divide” the country.

The POEC was tasked last fall with determining whether the Trudeau government was justified in using the EA to crush the Freedom Convoy.

It conducted a thorough monthlong public hearing that called forth dozens of witnesses, including Trudeau, many of his cabinet ministers, as well as Freedom Convoy leaders such as Lich.

The Freedom Convoy gathered in Ottawa in January and February of 2022 to call for an end to all COVID mandates, which resulted in some provincial governments such as Alberta and Saskatchewan ultimately dropping the vaccine passport programs they had in place.

Despite ruling in his favor, Trudeau had admitted while testifying before the Commission that the Freedom Convoy was notviolent but that he needed to enact the EA anyway.

He also denied calling “unvaccinated” Canadians names, despite previously referring to the vaccine-free as “misogynists” and “racists” who “deny science” on television.

While Trudeau revoked the EA on February 23, 2022, the unprecedented freezing of citizens’ bank accounts led to immense backlash by civil rights groups and the public alike.

At the time, seven of Canada’s 10 provinces opposed the use of the EA by Trudeau.

Trucker Documentary tells the Truth:

1 hr. 50 min. documentary of the Trucker Convoy to Ottawa. NO EMERGENCY WAS NECESSARY.

Well documented as it covers the TRUTH!

It’s been a year since the Freedom Convoy descended on Ottawa to protest nearly two years of Covid-19 restrictions.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government refused to meet with Convoy organizers, choosing instead to invoke the federal Emergencies Act for the first time in Canadian history to forcefully remove them.

Convoy critics say the government had no choice; the atmosphere was ripe for potential violence.

The organizers say otherwise, pointing to the peaceful undertones of the demonstration.

Who’s telling the truth?

This is what The Freedom Occupation seeks to find out.

It was the winter of 2022 when Canadians descended on Ottawa to protest nearly two years of Covid-19 restrictions. For three weeks, thousands of demonstrators, bolstered by pick-up trucks and semi-trailer trucks, filled the city’s downtown core. It was the first demonstration of its magnitude in Canadian history.

A protest caused by bureaucracy run amok, the Freedom Convoy sought to rectify the rights that had been stripped from the Canadian public. In doing so, it became a beacon of hope across the world.

Convoy critics say the government had no choice; the atmosphere was ripe for potential violence. The organizers say otherwise, pointing to the peaceful undertones of the demonstration.

The Freedom Occupation seeks to expose the real story behind the 2022 Freedom Convoy. Was the government justified in invoking the Emergencies Act? Was the convoy peaceful, or was in fact there a real threat of danger?

How an event is remembered determines its everlasting impact. It’s time to uncover the truth.

"'Our Culture's Going to Be Changed':

Massive Revival at Asbury University Captivates the World" on YouTube:

The nation is captivated by the revival breaking out at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, as students, faculty, and people from outside the Christian campus flock to the chapel to take part in a multi-day revival. From singing to sermons and overt praise for Jesus, the praise and worship service, which started February 8, hasn't stopped. Day and night, students and professors are worshipping Jesus. It's a scene that has left Alexandra Presta, a senior at Asbury University, in awe. Presta, editor of the student-run website The Asbury Collegian, has been writing about what she experienced after attending what she thought was a typical chapel service last Wednesday. But that service was like none other. She and others stayed all day and through the night — and have continued returning. “Peers, professors, local church leaders and seminary students surround me — all of them praying, worshipping and praising God together,” Presta wrote about the experience. “Voices are ringing out. People are bowing at the altar, arms stretched wide. A pair of friends cling to each other in a hug, one with tears in her eyes. A diverse group of individuals crowd the piano and flawlessly switch from song to song." She added something else worth pondering: "No one wants to leave.”

Presta joined CBN's Faithwire to discuss how the Christian revival at Asbury is transforming not only the campus community as a whole, but individual hearts and minds — including her own. She said the campus will continue the revival so long as the Holy Spirit urges them to do so. Presta also said she believes the Kentucky revival will make a massive impact for the Lord. Watch Presta explain the revival, look back at the famed 1970s event that happened on the same campus, and share her first-hand experience of this incredible moment. Further dialogue on ‘the Ashbury REVIVAL’!

5 Thoughts on the Asbury Revival for Pastors:

Well, unless you’ve been living in a cave in the last week or two, you can’t miss all the talk about what’s happening at Asbury University (and now, beyond). What surprised me is how quickly the critics came out swinging. I’m also guessing as a church leader, you’re probably getting questions about what to make of it, and whether you should ‘do anything’ about it (whatever that might mean). You likely even had your team or your members ask you questions about it. So, today I put some thoughts together that I hope can help guide you and your team not just on what to make of it, but how to navigate through it with your church as leaders. Here are 5 thoughts for church leaders on the Asbury Revival. I hope this helps!

P.S. There’s both disagreement about what’s going on and a lot of excitement. What if the lack of clarity is a

sign that God is present, not absent? Curious? You can read more herehttps://careynieuwhof.com/5-thoughts-on-the-asbury-revival-for-pastors/?he=barrykentner%40outlook.com&el=email&vgo_ee=G9d17VRjsc3Vjgn9HPAZy8sYHlVeu44UNZLsOid1vaA%3D

I hope this helps… [Rev. C.J. Barry Kentner]

News about the 2023 Asbury Revival, which started in the Hughes Auditorium following a chapel service, started spreading on social media through TikTok and Instagram, is now a global phenomenon with major news outlets like the Washington Post reporting on it. It even has its own Wikipedia page.

And the revival (still surging as I write this post) has spread to other campuses around America and into a simultaneous overflow and a proposed wind-down at Asbury.

What surprised me is how quickly people jumped on what they saw, evaluating it, asking whether it really was a ‘revival’, criticizing it, offering all kinds of opinions on it, and even ‘trend-jacking’ for the purposes of boosting their own messages, in most cases without having been in the room.

Some are questioning whether you can even call it a ‘revival.’ And even Asbury Theological Seminary President, Timothy Tennent, offered a helpful, measured commentary six days into the phenomenon, preferring (at that point) to call it an ‘awakening.’

For the purposes of this post, I’ll call it the Asbury Revival because that’s how it’s widely being described. But I appreciate Tenet’s nuanced and thoughtful reflection.

Sadly, the critics have made a field day of what’s happening, offering everything from generational critiques (can Gen Z be trusted?) to checking it down to the minutia for theological orthodoxy.

Shane Pruitt summed it up well:

All of this leaves the question: What are most church leaders to do about it? Most of us won’t fly into Kentucky to be part of it (I haven’t), but you will get a lot of questions from people in your church and other leaders.

Here are five thoughts that I hope pastors and church leaders can find helpful.

1. Be More Curious and Open Than You Are Closed or Critical

We live in a highly cynical age, but if God is indeed moving, this is no time to be cynical.

We live in a highly cynical age, but if God is indeed moving, this is no time to be cynical.

The Asbury Revival is a great moment to be more curious and open as a church leader than close or critical.

Your church may not be from the charismatic or revivalist movement (and, for the record, neither is Asbury), but that’s no reason to discount it. (At the same time, there’s a reason charismatic churches are some of the only denominations experiencing growth right now).

And when nonstop worship has been happening, and many are reporting an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, especially among university students, why criticize? What if this is a generation-transforming event?

If you’re worried about ‘orthodoxy,’ re-read the New Testament. When God was at work in the early church, there was confusion, chaos, and a wide variety of opinions. Uncertainty may not always be a sign that God is absent, but perhaps an indicator that God is present and moving. The church is more diverse than what you think, or I, think.

The early church wasn’t perfect. No one was 100% sure what was going on. And God still used it.

It is so much easier to criticize than it is to contribute.

Even worse, critics rarely contribute beyond their opinion.

2. Don’t Worry About Taking a Position

You don’t have to have an opinion about everything. That’s especially true for pastors.

You don’t have to have an opinion about everything or publicly announce your ‘position’ on everything that’s happening. That’s especially true for pastors.

Besides being hopeful and deeply encouraged, I don’t have a nuanced or definitive ‘opinion’ on what’s happening in part because, like 99.99% of the people reading this post, I haven’t been there. The story is developing.

I agree with Timothy Tennent when he says, “It is always better to stand in awe of something than to talk about something.”

Perhaps that’s enough for now. Watch. Wait. Pray. Expect. And see. And be hopeful.

3. Resist the Temptation to Imitate What’s Going On

Getting to the practical things church leaders struggle with, you may have already had people who have asked you, “Why don’t we do something similar?” Especially because the revival has spread to a few other campuses as well.

A sincere question I’m sure, but one that might be missing the point.

Although churches have planned or ‘scheduled’ revivals for years, by all accounts, no one planned this one. Some college students continued after the worship service was over, the presence of God was palpable, and things continued from there.

So, does that mean you can’t do anything?

No.

But from my understanding, seeing God move is as much about positioning as it is about anything.

You can position yourself for what God might want to do, but you can’t force it.

You can open yourself, but you don’t know the outcome until it happens.

If you’ve preached more than a handful of messages, you know sometimes you think a sermon is going to land and the heavens break open, and then not much happens. Other times you think it really didn’t go well, and God moved in powerful ways.

To position yourself in confession, humility, openness, and a willingness to be used by God is the best you can do. Hold a night of prayer.

Conduct your normal services, but perhaps approach them with fresh humility. Don’t just go through the motions of three songs and a message. Really surrender. And be open. (Please hear me: I’m not saying you usually go through the motions, but again, if you’ve led a church for a while, you know exactly what I mean here.)

When it comes to revival, you never know what might happen, but you can’t make it happen.

4. Don’t Feel Generationally Threatened

Although I try to read the critics as little as possible, I’ve seen a few disparage what’s happening because Gen Z is at the heart of it. The basic contention? They can’t be trusted theologically.

I wonder if there’s another dynamic at play, though, and that is that the generations currently in leadership have no control over anything that’s happening.

The Asbury students, of course, might say neither do they.

Control in leadership is a significant problem, especially for church leaders.

Just because something amazing is happening and you’re not a part of it doesn’t mean God isn’t in it. The Holy Spirit is free to move however the Spirit wants.

5. So…Maybe Watch and Give Thanks?

Who knows when or how this will end, but as a mentor of mine often says, you can be a student or a critic.

Without quoting scripture out of context, Gamaliel’s words from Acts 5 appear to offer timely counsel. If what’s happening is a human thing, it will fade quickly enough. If what’s happening is from God, no one can stop it.

And when it comes to seeing what God is doing in the next generation, perhaps the best perspective to take as a leader is to have an open heart and an open mind.

That posture would benefit the church in many situations, including this one.

Controversial Jesus ad at Superbowl is just the beginning!

The group has also signed up about 20,000 churches across the US to provide volunteers to help respond to questions received via the “He Gets Us” website.

The group spent roughly $10 million apiece to reach more than 100 million viewers with their two Super Bowl commercials.

But it is only a fraction of what the group is planning to spend in the next few years, Vanderground said.

“The goal is to invest about a billion dollars over the next three years,” he told Ministry Watch. “And that is just the first phase.”

Jesus Christ momentarily grabbed the spotlight from Jalen Hurts and Pat Mahomes during Sunday’s Super Bowl when two multimillion-dollar “He Gets Us” advertisements aired to promote Christianity.

The commercials stood out from the rest of the star-studded ads, due in part to the fact they weren’t linked to a famous product or brand — and sparked immediate questions over who forked over the cash for the costly campaign.

The “He Gets Us” ads, which directed viewers to a website to learn more about Jesus, were funded by Hobby Lobby CEO David Green and a string of other anonymous Christian donors.

But the $20 million Super Bowl ad buy is just a small part of the $1 billion they plan to invest over the next few years to promote their Jesus-loving messaging.

Here’s what we know about the “He Gets Us” campaign:

The campaign, which first launched in March 2022, is being run by the Servant Foundation — a nonprofit based in Overland Park, Kansas.

It’s funded by a variety of donors and wealthy families through The Signatry — a donor-advised fund that’s also tied to Overland Park.

Project Veritas says James O’Keefe ‘has not been removed’ following rumors of board turmoil:

In his February 15 statement, Strack sought to shoot down all such rumors.

“The narrative that is being portrayed by referencing this letter is patently false,” Strack said. “James has not been removed from Project Veritas. Nowhere in that letter was there ever a suggestion to remove James from the organization.”

He went on to praise O’Keefe as “the hardest working person I have ever met,” and said “[t]hose who know him well know that he will not take time off unless forced to.”

The letter didn’t go into further detail about the circumstances that “forced” O’Keefe to take time away from the nonprofit.

He acknowledged, however, that “the timing of this situation alongside the biggest story in our organization’s history is confusing,” something which he said has exposed the issue to “conspiracy theories.” [Patrick Bestall]

(LifeSiteNews) — Conservative undercover journalism operation Project Veritas has formally responded to rumors that its board of directors had placed founder James O’Keefe on leave and were considering removing him from the organization.

“At Project Veritas, we believe in radical transparency coupled with respect, empathy, and honesty,” Executive Director Daniel R. Strack wrote in a statement released February 15.

— Project Veritas (@Project_Veritas) February 15, 2023

Writing on behalf of five members of Project Veritas’ board of directors, Strack spoke about the staff member feedback that ultimately sparked rumors that O’Keefe, fresh off Project Veritas’ blockbuster report about Pfizer’s alleged involvement in mutating the COVID virus to make new vaccines, was being sidelined by the organization’s leadership.

According to Strack, verbal remarks from “a number of our staff members” led the board to “solicit feedback from additional” employees. That letter was ultimately leaked to the press, triggering a deluge of reports suggesting O’Keefe was on his way out.

On February 8, New York Magazine reported that O’Keefe had been placed on paid leave as the Project Veritas “board considers whether to remove him from his leadership position.” The report cited “current and former employees of the organization” and the leaked internal letter.

On the same day, Strack released a vague statement noting that the board and management were “constantly evaluating what the best path forward is for the organization,” and that its more than 65 staff members remained “dedicated to continuing the mission to expose corruption, dishonesty, waste, fraud, and other misconduct in both public and private institutions.”

The statement failed to tamp down rumors that O’Keefe was being pushed out of the nonprofit he founded.

Former Project Veritas journalist Laura Loomer expressed a sentiment shared by many, opining that Project Veritas can’t exist without O’Keefe.

“I love you James,” she continued, going on to float the possibility that Pfizer was influencing the board to remove O’Keefe following the viral investigative report in which a Pfizer employee said the company was mutating the SARS-CoV-2 virus to create new vaccines.

“Would be a shame if Pfizer was trying to extort PV board members,” Loomer wrote. “All I’m going to say is, this attack looks like it’s ‘Sponsored by Pfizer.’”

He acknowledged, however, that “the timing of this situation alongside the biggest story in our organization’s history is confusing,” something which he said has exposed the issue to “conspiracy theories.”

Strack specifically highlighted the suggestion made by Loomer and others, stating directly that “we are still, in no way, and will never be, ‘Brought to you by Pfizer,” and don’t “have any political preferences for any candidates running for office.”

While Strack’s February 15 press release directly addressed the concerns and rumors that Project Veritas had formerly only touched upon, it has not quelled the fears of the nonprofit’s supporters who continue to fear for O’Keefe’s future with the group. O’Keefe’s sudden silence on social media has fueled the worries.

On Wednesday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted a photo to Twitter of himself with O’Keefe in Santa Monica.

“In Santa Monica wilderness with [Project Veritas’] [James O’Keefe] relaxing after his triumphant cage fight with Pfizer exec,” Kennedy said.

Responding to the tweet, Project Veritas’ official Twitter account wrote:“Of course [James O’Keefe] is alive and well. Why wouldn’t he be?”

“We’re sure many of you can agree, there is nothing better than enjoying a well deserved vacation,” the tweet read.

Of course @JamesOKeefeIII is alive and well. Why wouldn’t he be?

We’re sure many of you can agree, there is nothing better than enjoying a well deserved vacation. https://t.co/SAlwyQnlcR

— Project Veritas (@Project_Veritas) February 15, 2023

Comments below the tweet suggest the message from the nonprofit was not well-received among Project Veritas supporters.

“You really need to stop tweeting,” reacted the Twitter account belonging to Woke Societies, which hosts a news, politics, and culture show live-streamed on Rumble. “It’s making it worse.”

FBI raids homes of Project Veritas journalists [Including Founder James O’Keefe], allegedly to locate diary of Joe Biden’s daughter

(LifeSiteNews) — Federal agents raided the homes of past and present journalists with the conservative Project Veritas this weekend, searching for a diary linked to the Biden family which Veritas founder James O’Keefe says his organization does not possess.

In a statement published on the group’s website, O’Keefe said Project Veritas was approached late in the 2020 presidential campaign with a source offering a diary supposedly owned by President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley. Veritas could not confirm the authenticity of the book or its contents, he says, so they opted not to pursue the story and attempted to return the book, but an attorney for Ashley Biden declined to take it, which would have confirmed its authenticity. “Project Veritas gave the diary to law enforcement to ensure it could be returned to its rightful owner,” O’Keefe added.

“I awoke to the news that apartments and homes of Project Veritas journalists, or former journalists, had been raided by FBI agents,” O’Keefe said. “The FBI took materials of current, and former, Veritas journalists despite the fact that our legal team previously contacted the Department of Justice and voluntarily conveyed unassailable facts that demonstrate Project Veritas’ lack of involvement in criminal activity and/or criminal intent.”

O’Keefe also shared a quote from a grand jury subpoena Project Veritas received, which requested “that you voluntarily refrain from disclosing the existence of the subpoena to any third party” because “disclosure of the existence of this investigation might interfere with and impede the investigation.” O’Keefe said he believes “they don’t want me to defend myself.”

“But while the Department of Justice requested us to not disclose the existence of the subpoena, something very unusual happened,” he went on. “Within an hour of one of our reporters’ homes being secretly raided by the FBI, The New York Times, who we are currently suing for defamation, contacted the Project Veritas reporter for comment. We do not know how The New York Times was aware of the execution of a search warrant at our reporter’s home, or the subject matter of the search warrant, as a Grand Jury investigation is secret.”

An FBI spokesperson confirmed to the Associated Press that it had conducted “court authorized law enforcement activity” at a Manhattan apartment in Manhattan and another address in Westchester County, but declined to elaborate further. While the authenticity of the diary remains unconfirmed, the raid seems to suggest that the federal government takes the possibility seriously enough to pursue.

“Now, Ms. Biden’s Father’s Department of Justice, specifically the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, appears to be investigating the situation, claiming the diary was stolen,” O’Keefe declared. “We don’t know if it was, but it begs the question: in what world is the alleged theft of a diary investigated by the President’s FBI and his Department of Justice? A diary! This federal investigation smacks of politics. Project Veritas never threatened or engaged in any illegal conduct.”

Project Veritas, which specializes in undercover videos exposing various left-wing political and media institutions, has been a recurring target over the years of Democrats and their allies due to the revelations of its investigations, from the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines and radicalism in public education to election fraud in government agencies and partisan bias in mainstream media giants. Happy Family Day:

Children raised by married parents do better at school, develop stronger cognitive and non-cognitive skills, are more likely to go to college, earn more, and are more likely to go on to form stable marriages themselves. Using our own benchmarks of success at different life stages, developed as part of the Brookings Social Genome Model (now a partnership with the Urban Institute and Child Trends), we find similar patterns.

Countless studies affirm that kids in married households – and married households with a mother and father at that – do the best in nearly every aspect of development.

I know we say that the Democrats are at war with the family and are sold out to destroying the essential unit of government and that many of you think it's all hyperbole.

But here's what a real Democratic Representative from South Dakota has to say about the family as it has existed from the beginning of human history:

Kids being most well off in intact families with a married mother and father used to be common sense.

Countless studies affirm that kids in married households – and married households with a mother and father at that – do the best in nearly every aspect of development.

To today's Democrats, and increasingly more Republicans, that's considered something like a "hate fact."

(Or "Dangerous and Un-American.")

In her view, stating that the ideal situation for children is to be raised by a married mother and father is un-American, because she thinks being American is all about serving yourself and not caring about what's best for kids.

This is today's average Democrat. Being in favor of the traditional, nuclear family makes one an extremist.

Well, you may as well call me a radical then. [Patrick Bestall]
