Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to invite you to a discussion regarding homelessness and addiction, excessive taxation, as well as a lack of transparency in terms of budget and policy making decisions by municipal government here in London, Ontario.  (See attachment for invite information)

The purpose of this discussion is not just to generate more talk, but to lead to definitive grassroots' action.  It is clear that London City Council isn't representing its constituents. In fact, from my perspective, the only City Councillor who is genuinely speaking for the people is Susan Stevenson, but she is one of the rare few with integrity and decency. 

 

The rest appear to be no better than "Yes-men", rubber-stamping predetermined policies with barely even the pretence of public input or concern for the constituents of London.  Of course, I am not letting the province or the federal government off the hook; they are all intertwined in this mess.

 

Although London isn't the only Canadian city with similar problems, many outsiders perceive our city as particularly egregious in terms of its policies.  Youtubers and independent journalists have come to document the situation and, although some of their videos may be classified as click-bait or about monetary gain, much of it resonates as true.

 

We will be watching one of these You Tube videos on November 5th, followed by a discussion during which we will identify the main problems (many of which have been repeatedly identified already) and then decide on a course of action, involving letter-writing, phone calls, etc. and potentially a large and peaceful demonstration.  We have noticed that the government will respond to public pressure if it is large enough; our elected officials need to be reminded that they serve us.
