Lawyer weighs in on Tamara Lich’s Trial as Verdict Looms on April 3 [today]:
The Democracy Fund senior litigator Mark Joseph joins Ezra Levant for a look ahead at Thursday's highly anticipated ruling in the case of Freedom Convoy organizer Tamara Lich.
More than three years removed from 2022's historic protest against COVID-19 mandates and lockdowns, one of the key faces from the Freedom Convoy is still awaiting a sentence in what has turned out to be the longest mischief trial in Canadian history.
This Thursday, however, Tamara Lich will finally receive a verdict after she was charged in February 2022 for her role in the demonstration.
Lawyer Mark Joseph, senior litigator with civil liberties organization The Democracy Fund, joined Tuesday night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show for a look ahead at what to expect.
“The Crown put in a lot of evidence,” Mark explained, adding “the judge has to judge the totality of the evidence.” The case hangs on whether this evidence fits “within each element of the offence — because every element of the offence must be proven.”
From his perspective, Ezra was optimistic about the ruling, saying he is “so confident” Lich will win the case but speculated it might have cost taxpayers $10 million by the time it concludes.
The “lengthy trial” used “a lot of judicial resources,” detailed Mark, something he says observers may “speculate as to why” that was the case for a “dissenter” like Lich.
Crown prosecutors, he noted, have sought jail time for those arrested in connection to the Freedom Convoy.
The ruling in this case will have reverberations for “protests and free speech” across Canada continued The Democracy Fund lawyer, highlighting potential areas of impact as “labour disputes,” “ethnic and religious protesting,” and upcoming protests that might occur at this summer's G7 summit.
Despite the case appearing in Lich's favour, Ezra outlined his belief that the Crown will appeal the ruling.
“The Crown certainly takes a hard look at these things,” replied Mark, who pointed to the prosecution's appeal of fellow Freedom Convoy organizer Pat King's recent ruling.
“They do have a motivation, apparently, to appeal,” the lawyer said.

Bloc Quebecois accuses Mark Carney of Copying Poilievre’s Policies, hiding from the Media:
'Someone who is a candidate can answer tough questions from the media, and not just copy the conservative policies, and try to hide,' the Bloc leader said of Liberal leader Mark Carney.
(LifeSiteNews) –– The leader of the separatist Bloc Quebecois Party Yves-Francoise Blanchet blasted Prime Minister Mark Carney for “copying conservative policies” as well as “hiding” from the media.
“The guy who wants to be the boss of Quebec, like the other candidates has to come to Quebec, answer questions which are not necessarily easy questions, but someone who wants to have an easy way, he will stay home,” said Blanchet in a press conference earlier in the week about Carney.
Blanchet made the comments after Carney, whose French language skills are subpar, said he would skip the French language TVA federal leaders debate, a decision which has drawn the ire of the Conservatives as well.
According to Blanchet, Carney was also skipping the debate in a bid to try and avoid media scrutiny, saying, “Someone who is a candidate can answer tough questions from the media, and not just copy the conservative policies, and try to hide.”
The TVA debate is a stand-alone federal debate for federal party leaders and is traditionally held earlier in the election campaign. This year, however, the TVA has asked that each person in the debate pay a $75,000 fee.
The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada Pierre Poilievre along with Blanchet said they would participate in the debate. Poilievre even went as far as telling Carney he would pay for his fee to attend the debate.
Carney suggested to the media on March 24 that he would attend the debate, but only a day later backed out saying he would not.
Due to Carney backing out, TVA canceled the debate.
When it comes to Carney’s policies mirroring those of Poilievre, it is true that Carney reduced the carbon tax to zero, which is something the Conservatives have been calling on the Liberals to do for years. Carney also said he would cut taxes, which the Conservatives have been saying they would do for some time as well.
Polling shows that Carney’s support in Quebec decreased following his decision to not attend the TVA debate.
Two weeks ago Carney triggered an election that will be held on April 28.
Poilievre has blasted Carney as an “establishment” Liberal politician who was “installed” by “Justin Trudeau’s insiders.”

Trump Suddenly Fires Them ALL After Shocking Oval Office Meeting
Several members of President Donald Trump’s National Security Council team have been fired.
An Axios article published Thursday morning was verified by DailyMail.com.
The firings follow National Security Advisor Michael Waltz’s unintentional inclusion of Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, in a Signal chat among senior administration officials debating an assault on the Houthis in Yemen.
In the wake of Signalgate, Trump has openly backed Waltz, a former congressman from Florida, even though some White House insiders have called him a “f***ing idiot.”
But according to a Thursday morning story in The New York Times, Laura Loomer, a far-right conspiracy theorist, visited the White House on Wednesday and demanded that the NSC be fired.
Research that Loomer brought to the White House allegedly demonstrated that certain NSC employees lacked sufficient loyalty to the president.
‘Out of respect for President Trump and the privacy of the Oval Office, I’m going to decline on divulging any details about my Oval Office meeting with President Trump,’ Loomer told DailyMail.com Thursday.
‘It was an honor to meet with President Trump and present him with my research findings, I will continue working hard to support his agenda, and I will continue reiterating the importance of strong vetting, for the sake of protecting the President and our national security,’ she added.
According to The Times, Waltz attended the meeting and stood up for his teammates.
The official statement from NSC spokeswoman Brian Hughes was, “NSC doesn’t comment on personnel matters.”
However, according to a CNN story on Thursday, Brian Walsh, Thomas Boodry, and David Feith were sacked.
According to the network, Trump’s meeting with Loomer—whom Trump’s main congressional ally, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, had attempted to expel from MAGA months earlier—was the exact cause of the firings.
But Loomer has remained in Trump’s sphere of influence.
Among those fired are Feth, who was in charge of technology and national security; Boodry, Waltz’s former legislative director in Congress and a senior director for legislative affairs; and Walsh, an intelligence director who had previously worked for now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Feth had been with Trump in his first term at the State Department.
Loomer had made it clear that she intended to fire Waltz’s deputy, Alex Wong, and the one NSC employee specifically named in the Houthi Signal exchange.
Because his wife had served at the Department of Justice under both the Obama and Biden administrations and because her father owned stock in a Chinese satellite manufacturer, Loomer implied that Wong was unfaithful.
According to her, Wong, who is American but whose parents are immigrants from China, is ‘Chinese.’
‘I don’t know why we have Chinese individuals in positions of national security,’ she said of Wong in an online video posted last week.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) was criticized by Dan Bongino on his well-liked podcast a few days before he was appointed deputy director of the FBI by President Donald Trump.
“Why is Adam Schiff so worried? I strongly encourage you to go back and take another look today at the Russia collusion hoax,” Bongino began during a segment.
“I’m gonna be straight with you,” Bongino said after pointing out that the story is now several years old. I don’t wanna move on.’
“We had the FBI in conjunction with the Department of Justice, officials in Congress, foreign governments and intel people fabricate a story, invent a story that could have caused and done serious long-term harm to international relations with a nuclear-powered foe,” he added. “It’s kind of a big freakin’ deal.”
“Listen to me — this is gonna be very important in the coming days,” he went on, perhaps dropping a hint that he was about to be appointed to the FBI.
“I’m not letting this go. I wanna find out what happened because it can never happen again. Not to a Democrat. Not a Republican. Not to a Libertarian. Not to any United States citizen,” Bongino said.
“You do not get to alter or try to change the course of electoral politics by fabricating a story hijacking the justice system then to give the patina of truth to a fake story,” he continued. “You don’t get to do that.”
“Why do I bring that up now? Because who was the ringmaster of that circus? Yes, Adam Schiff, and no, I’m not letting it go,” he added.
“I continue to believe that the grant of pardons to a committee that undertook such important work to uphold the law was unnecessary, and because of the precedent it establishes, unwise,” Schiff said in a statement. “But I certainly understand why President Biden believed he needed to take this step in light of the persistent and baseless threats issued by Donald Trump and individuals who are now some of his law enforcement nominees.”
Interestingly, though, Schiff did not categorically deny the pardon.
According to The Hill, such “full and unconditional” pardons are not time-limited and apply to any offenses connected to the committee’s “activities or subject matter.” However, it’s unclear as of now whether the preemptive pardon addresses any possible violation that Schiff might have committed in relation to his persistently untrue assertions that Trump was a Russian asset or that he was working for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The committee was chaired by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), with former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) serving as vice chair and second-in-command. BERLIN — Germany’s incoming government says it will press the European Union to finally add some bite to its bark over misbehaving countries ― in a thinly veiled reference to Viktor Orbán’s Hungary.
The conservatives of incoming chancellor Friedrich Merz and their likely center-left coalition partner, the Social Democratic Party (SPD), have agreed to demand the bloc withhold funds and suspend voting rights from countries that violate key principles such as the rule of law, according to a draft coalition agreement seen by POLITICO.
While Hungary wasn’t mentioned by name, the draft agreement is clearly referring to the EU’s worst offender, which for years has been accused of taking a wrecking ball to democratic norms, curtailing the freedom of the press and restricting the independence of judges.
The German parties ― Merz’s victors and the SPD who led the last government ― are currently negotiating to form a coalition and need to agree on underlying principles before taking office. An agreement to pressure the EU to go after countries like Hungary forms part of a series of provisional deals covering issues as diverse as migration policy, the phaseout of coal and welfare spending.
“Existing protective instruments, from infringement proceedings and the withholding of EU funds to the suspension of membership rights such as voting rights in the Council of the EU, must be applied much more consistently than before,” negotiators from Merz’s conservative bloc and the SPD wrote in a draft coalition agreement on EU politics.
The European Parliament triggered the first phase of the Article 7 procedure — also known as the “nuclear option” — against Hungary in 2018 over suspected “serious breaches” of the bloc’s core values and fundamental rights. But the process, which could lead to the suspension of Hungary’s voting rights, has stalled because of political divisions among member countries.
In 2022, the European Commission moved to block about €22 billion in EU cash earmarked to Hungary amid concerns over human rights and the independence of the judiciary. It eventually unfroze more than €10 billion last year, sparking a backlash.
Another point of contention between the EU and Hungary’s government has been Orbán’s friendliness toward Moscow, with Budapest repeatedly making use of its veto power to block sanctions on Russian oligarchs and military chiefs.
To circumvent that veto power, the incoming German government wants to “advocate an expansion of qualified majority voting in the Council of the EU, particularly on certain issues of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), such as the imposition of sanctions.” That would enable decisions to be taken without the need for Hungarian approval.

More broadly, the coalition negotiators vowed to take on a more proactive role on the European stage by using the Weimar Triangle — a loose alliance of France, Germany and Poland — as a vehicle for shaping EU policy. Under the previous coalition government led by the SPD’s Olaf Scholz, Germany’ relationship with France and Poland deteriorated.
“In the Weimar Triangle, we will seek close coordination on all relevant European policy issues in order to act more united in the service of the EU as a whole,” reads the draft agreement, echoing previous statements made by incoming chancellor Merz, who has said he will travel to both Paris and Warsaw on his first day in office.
Conservatives also vowed to address one complaint about Germany frequently heard in European capitals: Germany’s abstention in votes on important EU issues, ironically referred to as the “German vote.”
When German ministries are themselves at odds over EU policy, the country, as a rule, abstains from EU votes. Merz, however, has vowed there would be no such German abstentions when it comes to key votes in Brussels under his leadership.
But his conservatives and the SPD disagree on how to make that happen. The conservatives want Merz to be able to have a bigger say in Germany’s position when it comes to EU votes of major importance by “taking responsibility for coordination from the outset or taking charge of it during the procedure.” The SPD, on the other hand, wants to adhere to “the interministerial principle,” resolving disputes between ministries.
The draft agreement on the government’s positions on the EU comes from one of the 16 cross-party working groups established to develop positions on key policy areas. On Friday afternoon, key politicians entered final negotiations to stitch together a unified coalition agreement based on the working groups’ drafts.
A final coalition agreement may come as early as mid-April.

Tucker Carlson Horrified as Dr. Mary Talley Bowden Drops Chilling COVID Statistic:
Dr. Mary Talley Bowden left Tucker Carlson visibly shaken after dropping a chilling COVID vaccine statistic that’s impacting millions of children right now.
Before her appearance on Carlson’s show, Dr. Bowden, a Texas-based ENT specialist, rose to prominence in the medical freedom movement by speaking out against vaccine mandates and advocating for early treatment options like ivermectin.
She gained national attention after she was suspended by Houston Methodist Hospital for challenging the prevailing COVID narrative.
Despite the backlash, Bowden has remained committed to the Hippocratic Oath, successfully treating an impressive total of over 6,000 COVID patients without a single death.
Before Tucker became visibly disturbed, Dr. Bowden pointed to data from the CDC’s VAERS system, explaining that over 38,000 deaths have been reported following the rollout of the so-called COVID-19 vaccines.
She said that under normal circumstances, such numbers would’ve prompted the FDA to pull the shots.
Instead, they pushed forward, adding the COVID vaccine to the routine childhood schedule, with the expectation that babies receive three doses by just nine months of age.
She added that the shots are still under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for children under 12—not fully FDA approved—and yet they remain on the official vaccine schedule.
Tucker was horrified when Dr. Bowden mentioned a disturbing fact: “According to the CDC, 9 million American children have gotten the latest version of these COVID shots,” she said.
Clearly caught off guard, Carlson asked, “Actually?”
“Yes,” Bowden confirmed.
“Still?” he pressed.
“Yes. Yes. 9 million [kids]—12% [of US children have been injected].”
Tucker, in disbelief, asked, “Wait, this is going on right now?”
“Yes,” Bowden replied.
“I think we voted against this,” Tucker said.
“Yeah,” Bowden confirmed.
“Correct?” Tucker stressed.
“I don’t know,” Dr. Bowden answered.
“You’re very diplomatic, but I’m just stunned to learn that that’s happening right now,” Tucker exclaimed.
“Could this be shut down?” he asked.
“It should have been shut down a long time ago,” Dr. Bowden answered. “And you know, what’s the—”
Tucker interrupted: “9 million babies have had COVID shots?”
“Yeah. Well, children. Minors,” Dr. Bowden clarified.
Tucker’s reaction at the end says it all:
The conversation took another dark turn when Carlson asked about the potential long-term consequences of these shots, to which Dr. Bowden pointed to a disturbing trend.
“I don’t see a ton of cancer in my practice,” she said, “but I do have friends at MD Anderson, and they said they’ve never seen anything like it. The young people coming in with very advanced tumors, I think that’s what we have to be worried about now.”
She explained that getting updated cancer data is difficult, but the anecdotal reports are piling up. “It’s hard to get up-to-date cancer numbers, but I’m hearing all sorts of things. There are probably people who have access to that data, but publicly, it’s hard [to get access].”
This raises a profound question we must now consider as a society: What have we done?
In our rush to vaccinate every man, woman, and child, have we compromised the long-term health of a population that never needed these shots in the first place?
What data was ignored? If so, who made decisions to ignore that data, and will they ever answer for the consequences? It’s time for a serious conversation about accountability.

Last Friday their leader was at Millar Berry Farm in the barn during a dreadful downpour, and he had 75 people turn out! All of us dyed-in-the-wool freedom lovers. (That's more than Carney got out in his own riding!)
