Two Endings - One Story
“Whoever is among you of all his people, may the LORD his God be with him.Let him go up.” — 2 Chronicles 36:23
When people speak of the “Old Testament,” they are referring to the Hebrew Scriptures known in Hebrew as the Tanakh. Most people assume that all versions of the Hebrew Scriptures look the same, but in reality, the order of the books in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) differs significantly from the order found in most international Christian Bibles.
These different arrangements don’t change the inspired words themselves, but they do shape the story’s arc and the way readers understand God’s unfolding plan. The difference becomes especially striking when we compare the closing words of the Hebrew Scriptures that we have in Israel with the closing words of the Christian “Old Testament”.
The Hebrew Bible is divided into three main sections: Torah (Law), Nevi’im (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings). T-N-Kh, and from here the acronym name “Ta-na-kh”. The Torah contains Genesis through Deuteronomy. The Prophets are split into “Former Prophets” (Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings) and “Latter Prophets” (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Twelve minor prophets). The Writings include Psalms, Proverbs, Job, Song of Solomon, Ruth, Ecclesiastes, Esther, Daniel, Ezra, and Nehemiah – ending with 1–2 Chronicles.
This structure reflects the Jewish people’s history and covenantal life. The Tanakh begins with God’s creation and calling of Israel in the Torah, continues through their prophetic history and warnings, and concludes with a sweeping retelling in Chronicles that ends not in despair, but in a call to restoration.
The very last words of 2 Chronicles are the decree of Cyrus, king of Persia, who gave the Jewish exiles permission to return and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. The Hebrew Bible closes with the words: “Whoever among you of all His people—may the LORD his God be with him, and let him go up” (2 Chr. 36:23). In Hebrew, “ya‘al” – “go up” – is the root of the modern word Aliyah, used today for Jewish immigration to Israel. Thus, the Tanakh ends with a command-call: go up to Jerusalem, return, rebuild, and restore.
In contrast, the international Bible – based on the Septuagint’s influence and later Christian tradition – follows a different order. The books are grouped as Law, History, Poetry/Writings, and Prophets, and the Old Testament ends with Malachi, the last of the Twelve Minor Prophets.
Malachi closes not with an invitation to return to the land, but with a prophecy of coming judgment and redemption. The final verses look forward to the appearance of “Elijah the prophet” who will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the children to the fathers (Mal. 4:5–6). For Christians throughout the ages, this prophetic note sets the stage for John the Immerser who comes in the “spirit and power of Elijah.”
Thus, where the Hebrew Bible ends with a call to rebuild the physical temple and city, the Christian Old Testament ends with a call to prepare for the spiritual temple – Messiah Himself.
Both endings of the Hebrew scriptures ultimately compliment each other rather than compete, contributing to one story
The difference is significant. The Hebrew Bible’s ending emphasizes continuity, restoration, and return to the land. It reflects Israel’s ongoing covenant identity and the hope of God’s people regathered. The international Bible’s ending emphasizes the anticipation of prophetic tension pointing to the coming of Messiah and the dawning of the New Covenant.
Neither is accidental. The Hebrew order makes sense for Jewish people: the story of God’s people continues in the land, awaiting full redemption. The "Christian" order makes sense within the broader biblical narrative: the stage is set, the prophet has spoken, and the curtain rises on the Gospels after that one blank page of separation. Interestingly, it was England’s former Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, a Jewish believer in Yeshua, who famously said: “I am the blank page between the Old and the New Testament”.
Ultimately both endings complement one another rather than compete. The Hebrew Bible keeps our feet grounded in history and covenant, reminding us that God’s promises to Israel are not abandoned. The Christian Old Testament keeps our eyes lifted toward the horizon, reminding us that those promises find their fulfilment in Messiah.
Cyrus’ “let him go up” echoes ever-true in modern Aliyah, as Jewish people continue to respond to the call and return to their ancestral homeland in light of growing global antisemitism, and even now in times of outright war. Malachi’s promise of Elijah still echoes in the Gospel accounts, as John the Immerser calls Israel to repentance in anticipation for the coming of Messiah – this time for the second and final time.Two endings through which God is weaving one redemptive story – His Story, and we are all waiting in anticipation to see what is next.

Israeli Officials Doubt Strike Killed Top Hamas Leaders in Doha
Israeli officials are growing skeptical about whether Tuesday’s IAF airstrike against Hamas top brass in Doha truly eliminated the top leadership, including figures like Khalil al-Hayya and Khaled Mashaal. While the IDF confirmed the operation, anonymous sources told Israeli media that hopes of success are fading.
Damage assessments are still underway, but several defense and intelligence figures believe the strike may have missed most, if not all, of its intended targets. Hamas insists its senior leaders survived, saying only lower-ranks were killed. Defense Minister Israel Katz defended the strike, saying Hamas has no safe havens anywhere. IDF Orders Gaza City Evacuation
Israel’s military has ordered all residents of Gaza City to evacuate south immediately following a wave of airstrikes that brought down high-rise buildings and after Hamas killed four Israeli soldiers. Roughly 900,000 people - including about eight to ten Israeli hostages believed still alive - are reported to remain.
The IDF called the situation “extremely dangerous” and directed civilians from areas like Old City, Tuffah, and the coastline to exit via the Al-Rashid corridor toward humanitarian zones in the south. Warnings were issued in Arabic, through SMS messages, leaflets dropped from aircraft, and other channels. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that 50 Hamas-controlled “terror towers” have been destroyed so far, calling Gaza City the group’s “last stronghold.”
6 Israelis Murdered in in Jerusalem Bus Stop Shooting
Two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a crowded bus stop near the entrance to Jerusalem during rush hour on Monday morning. Six Israelis were killed and dozens more wounded, making it one of the deadliest attack in the area in years. Jerusalem now finds itself on the frontlines of escalating threats coming from the West Bank.
The violence has stirred deep concern as citizens worry about safety and whether authorities have enough control to prevent such attacks. Security forces responded quickly, cordoning off the area and investigating the assailants. Residents expressed shock, grief, and frustration, saying they feel increasingly vulnerable. Officials called for increased vigilance and enhancements in local security measures.
Blood Moon Lights Up Israel During Total Lunar Eclipse
A rare “Blood Moon” reulting from a full lunar eclipse was visible across Israel Sunday night as Earth passed between the Sun and the Moon. The eclipse peaked between approximately 8:30-9:52 p.m., with the Moon turning deep red at its darkest point. Sunday night marked the middle of the Hebrew month of Elul and a season of return. In Israel, observers saw the transformation clearly once the Moon rose.
The phenomenon - caused by sunlight filtered through Earth’s atmosphere casting only red wavelengths — was also visible in parts of Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa. No special equipment was needed to view the eclipse; just a clear sky and a good vantage point. Stargazers took the chance to enjoy a celestial show that hasn’t been seen in some time.

An Edmonton drag performer’s post stating “Miss Smith next, please and thank you” in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s killing has caught the attention of local law enforcement authorities.

An Edmonton drag performer’s post stating “Miss Smith next, please and thank you” in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s killing has caught the attention of local law enforcement authorities.
The Edmonton Police confirmed to True North that they are aware of the post and “are looking into it.”
Aldynne Belmont — who also goes by the names Fox McCloud and Bunny Lebowski — posted on X, celebrating Kirk’s assassination before suggesting “Miss Smith” should be “next” accompanied by a picture of an individual holding a firearm.
“Charlie Kirk is no more. I hope he felt terrified, and I hope the rest of this kind are just as scared,” said Belmont. “Miss Smith next, please and thank you.”
Belmont’s Instagram and LinkedIn accounts were also shown in the post. The drag artist currently works as a Researcher for Rainbow Story Hub Foundation.
The social media accounts mentioned have since been disabled.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith did not comment on the posts, however a spokesperson referred True North to her Wednesday X post.
“Political violence has no place in a free and democratic society and must be condemned without reservation,” said Smith.
Belmont joins a litany of vile posts reacting to Kirk’s assassination, which left his wife a widow and his children aged three and one without a father.
U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed a crackdown on the “radical left,” along with any other organizations enabling political violence in America.
Kirk’s killer remains on the loose, and the FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to their identification or arrest.
The U.S. State Department has barred foreigners who “glorify” Kirk’s Assassination form entering the country.

Trump Targets Soros-linked Law Firm, Cuts Off Security Clearances in Latest Executive Actions
President Donald Trump continues to add to his already high tally of executive orders, ceremonially signing another batch on Thursday afternoon.
The president signed at least six executive orders since March 1 and over 80 so far during his second term, according to the Federal Register and White House communications following the event. The register can lag signings by several days.
Executive orders postponing enforcement of the two-day-old 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico made the biggest splash. Trump has temporarily lifted the tariffs – until April 2 – for America’s neighbors to the north and south.
The president also signed an executive order targeting a law firm, Perkins Coie, that represented Hillary Clinton and has worked with others, like George Soros, to what he says was interference with fair and free elections in the U.S., according to the order. Trump also accused the law firm of discrimination, saying it used racial and other quotas in its employment practices.
“My Administration is committed to ending discrimination under ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ policies and ensuring that Federal benefits support the laws and policies of the United States, including those laws and policies promoting our national security and respecting the democratic process,” the president wrote.
The executive order is meant to ensure any of the firm’s security clearances are suspended and that any federal contracts it holds are terminated.
Finally, in a memorandum to department and agency heads, the president directed them to request “under Rule65(c) that Federal district courts require plaintiffs to post security equal to the Federal Government’s potential costs and damages from a wrongly issued injunction.” The president issued the memo to discourage what he sees as “frivolous” lawsuits by “activist organizations” “used for fundraising and political grandstanding.
The president also mentioned a coming executive order on the Department of Education after news broke Wednesday night of a draft order calling for its dismantling. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had earlier in the day quashed any rumors of it happening Thursday, but Trump told reporters that he still wants to “bring the schools to the states.”
Trump could essentially gut the department via executive order, but the department can only be eliminated with buy-in from Congress.

Sickening Pics Show What Was Found in Assassin’s ‘Sniper’s Nest’

Newly released photos and drone footage have provided a chilling new look at the “sniper’s nest” from which a yet-to-be-identified gunman shot and killed conservative icon Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday morning. The images, released by law enforcement, give the clearest evidence yet of how the assassin prepared, positioned himself, and executed the fatal shot from a rooftop perch overlooking the student event.
One image released by authorities shows the exact angle from which the gunman lay prone and ultimately fired towards the tent where Kirk was speaking. The reported shooting position — a flat rooftop with a commanding view — was reportedly between 150 and 200 yards away from Kirk’s tent, giving the shooter a nearly unobstructed line of sight. A bird’s-eye view of the entire area confirms the assassin had a direct lane to his target with few, if any, barriers.
Earlier Thursday morning, investigators recovered what they believe to be the murder weapon from a wooded area located not far from the university. The shooter is believed to have used a high-powered, bolt-action rifle, a weapon that would have made the shot possible even for someone with limited experience. Law enforcement officials say the shooter’s careful planning and use of elevation, combined with a clear line of sight, allowed him to carry out the killing with devastating efficiency.
The scoped .30-06-caliber Mauser bolt-action rifle — reportedly scribbled with pro-transgender and pro-Antifa messaging, according to the Wall Street Journal — would have been powerful enough to ensure a lethal strike at the reported range. A firearms expert told the New York Post that from such a position, “even an amateur with minimal firearms experience” could have hit a stationary target.
The newly released photos also show the view from the gunman’s reported firing position directly down onto Kirk’s tent. Drone footage released by investigators gives the public a bird’s-eye view of the event venue, including the shooter’s perch and the exact placement of the tent where Kirk addressed a crowd of thousands. The stark images underscore how vulnerable Kirk and the attendees were to a planned sniper-style attack from above.
On Thursday morning, the FBI released its first photos of a person of interest in the Kirk murder just as the manhunt pushed past the 24-hour mark. As of this report, a suspect is not in custody, though investigators were able to track the gunman’s movements after he exited the rooftop from which he fired the fatal shot. They also obtained shoe prints, a palm print, and forearm impressions from the rooftop, evidence that could eventually identify the shooter if a match is found. Depending on the condition of the palm print, the FBI’s crime lab may be able to extract DNA evidence.
Investigators believe that from the rooftop, the gunman may have been able to travel several miles away from the venue in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. Images released by the bureau indicate the killer dressed to blend in with the crowd, wearing an American flag t-shirt to look like an ordinary attendee. This disguise may have enabled him to slip through the chaos undetected before reaching a getaway vehicle or nearby roads.
The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for any information that leads to the suspect’s capture. Law enforcement sources say the bureau is poring over the evidence, including surveillance video from surrounding neighborhoods, but has not yet released identifying footage to the public.
For conservatives watching the investigation unfold, the photos and drone footage drive home just how deliberate and premeditated the assassination appears to have been. The images of the sniper’s nest — and the revelations about the rifle’s markings — have become a grim symbol of the political climate that led to one of the most shocking acts of violence against a high-profile conservative figure in recent history.

Who is Ben Gurion?
David Ben-Gurion (1886–1973) was a prominent Zionist leader from Poland, who was known as the founding father of Israel.
He was described as a ruthless man who gave orders to Zionist militias to see the mass explosion of Palestinians from their lands and facilitated the influx of Jewish immigrants from all over the world into Palestine. He served as the first prime minister of Israel in 1948.
What is the Ben Gurion Canal project?
The Ben Gurion Canal project was a proposal in the 1960s by Israel to connect the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea through the southern end of the Gulf of Aqaba.
The route was planned via the port city of Eilat and the Jordanian border, through the Arabah Valley for about 100 kilometres between the Negev (Naqab) Mountains and the Jordanian Highlands and veered west before the Dead Sea basin, and heading through a valley in the Negev Mountain (Naqab) Range.
It would then head north again to circumvent the Gaza Strip and connect to the Mediterranean Sea.
However, a connection between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea already exists through the Suez Canal - an artificial sea-level waterway in Egypt that offers vessels a direct route between the North Atlantic and the northern Indian oceans, reducing journey distance and time.
The Suez Canal provides the shortest sea route between Asia and Europe and currently handles roughly 12 percent of the world's trade.

Why did Israel propose the project?
The Constantinople International Convention - signed in 1888 by the great European powers of the era - once guaranteed a right of passage via the Suez Canal to all ships during times of war and peace.
However, after the Suez Canal was nationalized in 1956 by then-Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, Egypt closed off access to the canal on several occasions following the establishment of Israel in 1948 and the violent displacement of Palestinians, also known as the Nakba.
Egypt blocked Israeli vessels from accessing the canal from 1948 until 1950, affecting its ability to trade with East Africa and Asia, and hampering its ability to import oil from the Gulf region.
Access to the Suez Canal was closed to all international shipping in 1956, following the Tripartite Aggression against Egypt, which involved an alliance between Israel, the UK and France who sought to regain control of the Suez Canal and remove Nasser from power.
The canal was effectively closed during the conflict, and the situation escalated into a crisis with international and economic ramifications.
The Suez Canal was also closed for a staggering eight-year period in 1967, at the beginning of the Six-Day War, also known as the Arab–Israeli War, which was fought between Israel and a coalition of Arab states (primarily Egypt, Syria, and Jordan).
When all land trade routes were blocked by Arab states, Israel's ability to trade with East Africa and Asia, mainly to import oil from the Persian Gulf, was also severely hampered.
The closure of the canal was also a significant and unexpected shock to world trade and disrupted global commerce.
An alternative to the Suez Canal, especially one under the authority of key Western ally Israel, would eliminate the potential use of the Suez Canal and the Straits of Tiran as leverage by Egypt against Israel or its allies.

Economic gains
The Suez Canal has been critical in driving Egypt’s economy forward. It earns revenues through tolls and transit fees collected from vessels that pass through the canal.
I
n 2021, some 20,649 vessels flowed through the Suez Canal - an increase of 10 percent over 2020. In 2022, annual revenue stood at $8 billion in transit fees. The Suez Canal set a new record with an annual revenue of $9.4 billion for the fiscal year that ended 30 June 2023.
While the canal is Egypt's economic centrepiece, attracting investments to the country and leading to the development of services and industries, its primary importance remains to be its ability to facilitate international trade, making an efficient global trade route.
The Ben Gurion Canal, if constructed, would rival the Suez Canal and cause a major financial threat to Egypt.
If it goes ahead, it would be almost one-third longer than the current 193.3km Suez Canal, and whoever controls it will have enormous influence over the global supply routes for oil, grain, and shipping.
Why Gaza matters
The US had once proposed to use some 520 nuclear bombs on the Negev Desert (Naqab) to help create the canal. With Gaza razed to the ground, there have been alleged plans to literally cut corners and reduce costs by diverting the canal straight through the middle of the Palestinian enclave. However, the presence of Palestinians there would remain an obstacle.
Since Israel launched its onslaught on the besieged enclave, it has pushed Palestinians to move south by relentlessly bombing northern Gaza before carrying out a ground invasion weeks later. At least 400,000 Palestinians have been displaced from the north to the south, according to statistics from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).
Some 800,000 Palestinians remained in areas considered "north" - namely past north of Wadi Gaza. Israel's indiscriminate bombing campaign, which has mostly targeted the north - has killed at least 11,470 people in Gaza - mostly civilians, including women and children.
The death toll has not been updated for days due to Israel's targeting of the largest hospital in Gaza, Al-Shifa, which was a centre for collecting data on deaths and the wounded.
Israel denies it has plans to annex the Strip but it had called for the "voluntary migration" of Palestinians in Gaza amid accusations that it was "ethnically cleansing" the enclave.
