Scandal: NHS gobbledygook and still pushing the Covid Vaccine in Care Homes!
Since August 2025, my wife Naomi has been a resident in the advanced dementia ward of a care home. As I have power of attorney, I signed a form when Naomi was admitted stating that she was never to be given a Covid or flu vaccine. Despite this, yesterday I was told that the GP would be visiting to give the Covid vaccine to all residents. I reminded staff that I had signed a declaration saying no to this, but was told that I had to sign a new form.
This abuse of care home residents was one of the most scandalous aspects of the Covid period. The fact that the abuse still continues six years on is horrifying.

Going to Lublin in eastern Poland is a bit like visiting Pompeii. Those Habits - Doggone it!
"For the first three days you'll try and fit everything I teach you into what your already know. For the last three days you be trying to fit what you knew into what I've taught you."
These were the opening words by Bill Gothard at the one-week course in Basic Youth Conflicts, many years ago, words I've never forgotten. I have come to understand this better over the years. At first prayer and bible time seemed like an interruption to my life and routine. Years later, life and its routines have come to feel like an interruption to my peace and time with God.
At first we learn to do things without understanding, like a puppy having fun who must give up that pillow, like a child who follows parents' rules whether he agrees with them or not. Like the Chosen People followed the Laws given to Moses without understanding what their fulfillment would look like in Jesus and his disciples. It takes a lot of self-effort. Popular books are written to make it easier by a process of self-hypnosis renamed "self-actualization", "mindfulness", learning the laws of "attraction" or some other New Age principle we once called magic.
But Jesus taught us something else. The goal is not to fix your life but to get a new one. Not even to identify your old life with Christ, but to get a new identity IN Christ. You enter God's witness protection program. It's not about What Would Jesus Do, but What IS Jesus doing. To have the mind of Jesus is not to imagine how he feels about what's going on around you and in the world - it's to feel how he imagines what's going on.
Is it OK to be thinking of other things while praying? Reorient that thought. You'll realize it's OK to be praying while you're thinking of other things. Instead of worrying about a wandering mind that takes you away from Him, you'll enjoy a wandering prayer that that keeps bringing you back to Him.
It's never too late, you're never too old, to reorient your thinking. St. Teresa of Avila was a pretty good nun before she experienced a great spiritual awakening in her later years, moving away from a lukewarm prayer life to initiate the reform of the Carmelite order. E. Stanley Jones had his most significant evangelistic meetings when he was in his 70's and 80's. Mother Teresa of Calcutta went through years of spiritual drought, missing the presence of God, and was in her late 50's and 60's when she became so radiant as to convert the likes of the renowned atheist Malcolm Muggeridge in 1982 at the age of 79. Which proves you can always teach an old dog new tricks.
