Q: #543. Can you list some of the trials that God's prophets went through in the Old Testament?

     A: Do you feel like life is sometimes too much to bear? Are there times you want to give up? Are there times that you just want to go and be with God permanently? You are not alone. Many of God’s prophets in the Old Testament had these same thoughts and issues. God asked a lot of His prophets, and often required them to go through many difficult things. However, He also used them to accomplish GREAT things. God can use us to accomplish great things too! However, trials and suffering are often a part of this process.

     I mention the above because if you think that God is asking too much of you, perhaps the trials that some of the Old Testament prophet’s went through will help you to put things in perspective, and to see that just as they made it through, you can also make it!

     Moses:

(Ex 2:15) Pharaoh sought to kill him, so he fled through the desert to the land of Midian.

(Ex 4:10-17) He had some kind of speech impediment.

(Ex 4:24-26) His life was threatened by God for failing to circumcise his son.

(Ex 14:10-12)(Ex 15:22-25)(Ex 16:2-3)(Ex 17:2-4)(Num 11:4-6)(Num 14:1-4)(Num 16:41-42)(Num 20:2-5)(Num 21:4-5) The Israelites constantly “grumbled” against Moses (and God).

(Num 11:14-16) After one episode of grumbling, Moses asked God to kill him.

(Num 12:1-2) Aaron and Miriam criticized Moses because he had married an Ethiopian (Cushite) woman, then they attacked (were jealous of) his leadership.

(Num 16:1-40) Korah, Dathan, Abiram, On, and 250 other leaders challenged the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

(Num 20:12-14)(Num 27:12-14)(Deut 3:23-28) He was not allowed to enter the Promised Land because he “rebelled” against God by striking the Rock when God told him to speak to it.

(Deut 8:2)(Acts 7:36) He had to wander in the desert for 40 years.

     Ezekiel:

(Eze 3:25-26) Ezekiel was confined to his house and not able to speak until God allowed it (His tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth).

(Eze 4:4-6) He was told to lay on his left side for 390 days, then on his right side for 40 days.

(Eze 4:12) God told him to cook his food using human dung, but then decided to allow him to use animal dung instead after Ezekiel pleaded (Eze 4:15).

(Eze 24:14-18) God told Ezekiel his wife would die, and he was not to mourn, weep, or cry.

     Isaiah:

(Isa 20:3) Isaiah was told to walk naked for 3 years.

Tradition says that Isaiah was sawed in two and killed while hiding in a hollow log during Manasseh’s reign of terror. (Possibly alluded to in Heb 11:37.)

     Jeremiah:

(Jer 16:2) Jeremiah was forbidden to marry. (He was the only man in the Bible ever forbidden to marry.)

(Jer 20:14-18) His persecutions became so bad, he wished he had never been born.

(Jer 37:15-16) He was beaten and imprisoned.

(Jer 38:6) He was cast into a cistern and left to die in the mud.

     Jonah:

(Jonah ch. 1 & 2) Jonah was cast into a raging sea, swallowed by a great fish, and forced to live inside of the fish for 3 days and nights for failing to obey God.

     Hosea:

(Hos 1:2) Hosea was told by God to marry a prostitute who would commit adultery. Then, once she did this, he was told to get her back from the man she had gone with (Hos 3:1-5).

     Elijah:

(1 Kin 19:1-14) Queen Jezebel sought to kill him. He became so upset, he asked God to take his life.

     Daniel:

(Dan ch. 6) Daniel was thrown into a den of lions for failing to pray to the king only.

     Joseph:

(Gen 37:18-28) His brothers first wanted to kill him, but instead sold him into slavery.

(Gen ch. 39) Was thrown into prison by his master after his master’s wife accused him trying to rape her.

London, Ontario church blaze reignites concerns over disturbing national trend

A wave of attacks against churches and places of worship continues across Canada.

But what I find just as disturbing is the inaction from our political class. Too many of our so-called "leaders" seem completely unwilling to even acknowledge the seriousness of these attacks.


Early Monday morning, firefighters rushed to a historic former church building in London, Ontario, after flames broke out around 3 a.m.

Thankfully, crews contained the blaze before the original structure was destroyed, but the fire still caused roughly $1 million in damage. The cause remains under investigation.


Since 2021, more than 100 churches across Canada have been vandalized, torched, or burned. More than 33 were completely destroyed by fire between May 2021 and late 2023, with only two of the fires ruled to be accidental.

This surge began following claims in 2021 about alleged "unmarked graves" at former residential schools. Churches became targets, even those with no connection to residential schools at all.


Crosses, sanctuaries, and places of worship were set ablaze while many politicians and media figures stayed silent.

This hostility has also spread to synagogues and Jewish institutions since the October 7 terrorist attacks in Israel. Across Canada, both communities have felt increasingly abandoned while attacks on places of worship rage on unchecked.


When churches burn, communities lose far more than buildings. Families lose gathering spaces, congregations lose their homes, and believers are told their faith is unwelcome.

Religious freedom is supposed to be protected under Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Canadians should never have to wonder whether openly practicing their faith will make them a target in the very country their beliefs helped build.

CANADIAN:

Taxpayers forced to foot billion-dollar-bill for FIFA World Cup games

A new report from the Parliamentary Budget Officer shows Canadian taxpayers are on the hook for about $1 billion to host 13 FIFA World Cup soccer games.

On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, B.C. director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation Carson Binda discussed how Canadian taxpayers are being forced to spend approximately $1 billion to host part of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Canada will host 13 matches during the World Cup, which runs across North America from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The matches will be split between two Canadian host cities: Toronto (6 matches) and Vancouver (7 matches).


Binda condemned federal, provincial and municipal politicians for allocating such huge sums of taxpayers' hard-earned funds on a sporting event like this.

“Politicians are wasting a million dollars per minute hosting a handful of international soccer games,” he said. "This is an outrageous amount of money coming right from your pocket going out the door on these soccer games," Binda continued.

“FIFA is leaving taxpayers with big pocketbook pain, without the promised economic gain," he added.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer estimates the total public cost at approximately $1.07 billion, with the federal government contributing $473 million and the remainder covered by provincial and municipal governments.

More than one million visitors are projected to travel to Canada for the World Cup matches in Toronto and Vancouver. Toronto’s hosting budget stands at $380 million, covering operating and capital costs such as stadium upgrades and event services.

Barely halfway through his first year in office, Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz is staring down a familiar predicament: road blockades erected by angry protesters.

Those are just the most visible obstacles to his progress.

Paz inherited one of the worst economic crises in Bolivia’s history when he took office after two decades of socialist rule. Six months in, he’s already running out of time to enact the tough measures needed to pull the Andean country out of its hole.

Acute shortages of food, dollars and motor fuels, plus double-digit inflation, help explain the paralyzing blockades now in their third week.

In the political capital, La Paz, prices are shooting up while gasoline and medical supplies run low. The city has been battered by looting, dynamite-hurling protesters and increasingly vocal calls for Paz’s resignation.


Industrial production has been disrupted, worsening food shortages. On Monday, supporters of former President Evo Morales were among those to clash with security forces.


Bolivia’s volatile politics aren’t new, but Paz’s presidency has proved especially unruly.

Part of a wave of new Latin American leaders allied with the Trump administration, Paz was elected with the support of a chunk of voters from the socialist MAS party of Morales and his successor, Luis Arce.


But conservative policies aimed at stabilizing the economy, like partially ending fuel subsidies, have come at a political cost. Luring foreign investors or pursuing a debt deal with the IMF now look an even harder sell.

It’s a particularly acute example of electorates’ diminishing patience worldwide.

On Wednesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured Paz of US support amid efforts to “overthrow” him. Like-minded governments from Argentina to Chile jointly condemned attempts at “destabilizing the democratic order.”

Paz is unlikely to voluntarily leave office early.

Ukraine and its allies are increasingly confident that Russia’s invasion is running out of steam as Kyiv stabilizes the front line and stalls a spring offensive by Moscow, while sources say some senior Kremlin officials believe the conflict has reached a dead end. The US assessed that Ukraine regained some territory this year for the first time since 2023 after portable Starlink internet terminals operated by Russian forces were deactivated.

Turkey’s top economic policymakers are meeting today to discuss measures to stem market turbulence after a court ordered the removal of the main opposition party leadership, a landmark ruling that led to a stock-market selloff and state intervention to defend the lira. The ruling voids the election of the Republican People’s Party Chairman Özgür Özel, the key ally of jailed Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who energized the CHP after years of losses.


President Donald Trump said he’ll send an additional 5,000 US troops to Poland, reversing course on a plan to suspend an Army deployment to the country amid a feud with other NATO nations over what he saw as their refusal to help in the Iran war. Announcing the decision on social media yesterday, Trump cited the election as Poland’s president of nationalist Karol Nawrocki, who won office nearly a year ago.


Dr. Charles Kashindi’s hospital is on the front line of the fight against the latest deadly outbreak of Ebola in the Ituri province of northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The Nyankunde Hospital has no isolation rooms, little protective equipment and a rapidly dwindling supply of masks, with multiple staff members sick, including an American surgeon who was evacuated to Germany for treatment. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), along with several allied medical organizations, is now asking a federal court to undo recent changes to the CDC’s childhood immunization schedule, and to stop the upcoming February meeting of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).


The organizations first filed a lawsuit last year after the CDC removed the experimental COVID-19 shots from the childhood schedule. That case is still ongoing. Now they want the court to go further and reverse the broader changes altogether.

Police recommend owners of vehicles with keyless entry systems keep their key fobs in Faraday bags, small pouches selling for around $15 that protect electronic devices from external electromagnetic interference and unauthorized access.

...both last year and the year before, for the first time in a decade, more [drinking water advisories] have been added than lifted — and these tallies ignore the dozens of drinking water advisories in British Columbia and Alberta.

 

 

Pikangikum’s problems have persisted so long, the federal government argues, that Canada cannot be held responsible for them.

 

The IJB filed an access-to-information request for the legal costs related to four court cases on First Nations drinking water. The response came with all the costs redacted on the grounds they are subject to solicitor-client privilege.

Speaking of tongues...

In these verses most people focus on "speaking in tongues" but there's another great lesson, about praying in song:

 

13 For this reason anyone who can speak in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. 16 Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer,[d] say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? 17 You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified. (1 Cor. 14)

 

We see that there are three factors:  praying with your understanding (mind), praying with your spirit (supernatural), and praying with singing!  I resolved yesterday to start doing all three, especially when I pray for others, including those in authority and in the media (whether I like them or not).  This includes entertainers and sports celebrities.

 

I'm wondering what took me so long to come to the above conclusion.  It just proves that you grow spiritually and that process cannot be forced.  It takes time.  So you can't really put it off without the risk that you'll do a weak job when the crunch comes.  It's like exercise and vitamins.  Cramming doesn't work well.

PS - Was the apostle Paul saying you should not utter a verbal prayer in tongues if you are not prepared to interpret?  It could be argued that you're better to stay quiet in the presence of people who will think you're nuts.  Or it could be argued that singing in the spirit can be a blessing which the untaught will appreciate.  (They'll probably think you're singing a song in your native language.)  Don't let the sound of your own voice scare you.

A lot of good that will do.  Animal testing will simply be outsourced to countries which allow it (e.g. Dr. Fauci "the puppy slayer").


In a statement to the New York Post on Tuesday, Gabbard said that her department had identified more than 120 biological laboratories in 30 countries that had been funded by the US taxpayer for decades. More than a third of these labs are located in Ukraine.

Thurs. 21 May 2026 Arizona: Maricopa County admits that they deleted election records before the Arizona 2020 election audit. These archived files were NEVER seen for the audit. This is what you call a cover up and FRAUD. They stated that they didn’t hand over all the records because it wasn’t exactly stated in the subpoena, even though it stated “ALL ELECTION RECORDS,” so they deleted them. By law, most states require that election records must be maintained up to 24 months. Still the audit found that over 25,000 ballots found in Maricopa County were counterfeit & not printed from the official Dominion PDF ballot. The 25,000 counterfeit ballots represent over double the amount of Biden’s 10,457 vote “margin of victory” in Arizona.
