The Lord's Fall Appointed Times
There’s something special about the changing of the seasons.
The air becomes cooler. The days grow shorter. The harvest is gathered. And once again, the biblical calendar brings us to a remarkable season—the fall appointed times of the LORD.
These are more than dates on a calendar.
They are appointments with God.
In Leviticus 23, the LORD calls them His appointed times—holy convocations established according to His calendar and His purposes. Each year they invite us to stop, remember, worship, and consider the unfolding story of redemption.
And for followers of Yeshua, these days carry an especially powerful message.
The spring feasts beautifully reveal Messiah’s work of redemption—His sacrifice, resurrection, and the giving of the Spirit. The fall feasts turn our attention toward themes of awakening, repentance, judgment, restoration, the return of the King, and ultimately God dwelling with His people.
As the fall feasts arrive in 2026, perhaps the most important question isn’t simply:
“What day is it?”
Perhaps the deeper question is:
“What is the Lord calling me to remember?”
YOM TERUAH — THE DAY OF TRUMPETS
September 12, 2026
Began at sundown September 11
“In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation.”— Leviticus 23:24
The fall appointed times begin with a sound.
The trumpet blasts.
Throughout Scripture, the trumpet can announce something important: a gathering, a warning, the approach of battle, or the arrival of a king.
It is a sound meant to get our attention.
And perhaps that is exactly where our fall journey should begin.
Wake up.
Life has a way of slowly distracting us. Responsibilities multiply. Schedules become crowded. The voices of the world become loud. Without realizing it, our spiritual hearing can become dull.
Then comes the trumpet.
Yom Teruah reminds us that God’s people are called to live awake and watchful.
For believers in Messiah, the imagery is difficult to miss. Scripture connects the future coming of Messiah with the sounding of a trumpet. The King who came first as the suffering servant will come again in glory.
So when the trumpet sounds, we remember:
Our King is coming.
Are our hearts ready to meet Him?
YOM KIPPUR — THE DAY OF ATONEMENT
September 21, 2026

Ten days after Yom Teruah comes the most solemn of the LORD’s appointed times: Yom Kippur—the Day of Atonement.
Leviticus 23:27 calls God’s people to humble themselves before Him on this day.
There is a beautiful progression here.
First comes the trumpet:
Awaken.
Then comes the invitation:
Return.
Yom Kippur confronts us with the seriousness of sin, but it also reminds us of the extraordinary mercy of God.
Under the Torah, the high priest entered the Most Holy Place with sacrificial blood to make atonement for the people.
For followers of Yeshua, this imagery points powerfully toward Messiah.
He is our great High Priest.
He did not enter with the blood of another sacrifice. He offered Himself.
Because of Him, forgiveness is not merely something we hope for—it is something God has provided through the Messiah.
Yet grace should never make repentance unnecessary.
Grace should make repentance irresistible.
This season gives us an opportunity to ask the Lord:
Search me.
Is there bitterness I have allowed to remain?
Is there someone I need to forgive?
Is there something I need to confess?
Have I slowly drifted away from wholehearted obedience?
Yom Kippur reminds us that the God who calls us to repentance is also the God who has made a way for reconciliation.
SUKKOT — THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES
September 26–October 2, 2026
Beginning at sundown September 25
Then something wonderful happens.
The solemnity gives way to joy.
Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, remembers the time Israel lived in temporary shelters during the wilderness journey and depended upon the LORD for provision.
God provided their food.
God provided their water.
God guided their steps.
And most importantly:
God dwelt among them.
That is the heartbeat of Sukkot.
God dwelling with His people.
Think about how magnificent that theme becomes as the story of Scripture unfolds.
The God who dwelt among Israel desires to dwell among His people.
Messiah came and “dwelt” among us.
Through His Spirit, God now dwells within His people.
And Scripture points toward the glorious day when God’s dwelling will be with humanity in its fullness.
Sukkot therefore teaches us something our culture desperately needs to remember:
Our security is not found in what we possess.Our security is found in the One who dwells with us.
A sukkah is temporary.
So is everything else in this world.
Our houses are temporary.
Our possessions are temporary.
Our earthly bodies are temporary.
But the Kingdom of God is not temporary.
Sukkot invites us to loosen our grip on the temporary and rejoice in the eternal.
SHEMINI ATZERET — THE EIGHTH DAY
October 3, 2026
Beginning at sundown October 2
After seven days of Sukkot comes one final appointed gathering:
Shemini Atzeret—the Eighth Day.
There is something beautiful about this final day.
After the trumpet has sounded…
After hearts have been humbled…
After the people have rejoiced before the LORD…
God calls His people to remain with Him for another appointed assembly.
It brings the fall feast season to a beautiful conclusion.
And the imagery points our hearts toward the great destination of God’s redemptive story:
God and His people together.
From Genesis to Revelation, this has always been the desire of God.
He walked with Adam and Eve in the garden.
He dwelt among Israel.
He came among us through Messiah.
He dwells within His people through His Spirit.
And Scripture ends with the magnificent promise that the dwelling place of God will be with humanity.
The biblical story is moving somewhere.
And the destination is not merely people escaping earth to be with God.
It is God dwelling forever with His redeemed people.
Don’t Just Mark the Dates—Meet With Him
The fall feasts give us a remarkable progression:
Yom Teruah:
AWAKEN — The trumpet is sounding.
Yom Kippur:
RETURN — Humble your heart before God.
Sukkot:
REJOICE — Remember His provision and presence.
Shemini Atzeret:
DWELL — Look toward eternity with the King.
Maybe this year these days can become more than information.
Maybe they can become an invitation.
An invitation to turn down the noise.
To open the Scriptures.
To gather your family.
To pray.
To repent.
To forgive.
To rejoice.
To remember what God has done.
And to renew our longing for what He has promised yet to do.
The world around us may be uncertain, but God’s redemptive plan is not.
The King is coming.
And one day, the temporary will give way to the eternal.
Until then, may we be a people who are awake, faithful, expectant, and ready.
Come, Lord Yeshua.
May these appointed times draw us deeper into God’s Word, closer to Messiah, and into greater anticipation of His coming Kingdom.

Released to media organizations by court order, the new details are contained in a document known as an information-to-obtain, or ITO, filed by police in January in order to obtain search warrants for key suspects.
The 274-page document, some of which remains under publication ban, provides fresh insight into the months-long probe led by York Regional Police and shows how one of the biggest police corruption scandals in Toronto history grew from an investigation of an attempted murder of a jail official.
The new information highlights both the severity of the alleged misbehaviour — selling confidential information to accused criminals and drug dealing between officers — but also how casually the officers allegedly carried out the offences.
It also shows how the more Project South investigators dug, the more they found.

From there, police said they found 17 off-duty searches by Barnhardt in a six-month period, all of which they considered suspicious. They later connected many of those searches to shootings. Police allege Barnhardt was “routinely” paid by alleged drug trafficker Brian Da Costa to conduct the searches.

Drug dealing between officers
The ITO includes several alleged instances when Barnhardt and other Toronto police officers are observed or overheard buying, selling or discussing drugs with each other.
Investigators describe it as an “organized, multi-level drug trafficking operation” involving Toronto police officers.
Barnhardt was observed allegedly selling cocaine to another 12 Division constable, Saurabjit Bedi.
After parting ways following one meetup, the court documents describe Bedi calling Barnhardt to ask if he “looked f — ed” when Barnhardt saw him because he was on his way to pick up his kid from daycare.
Barnhardt told him to put sunglasses on. “You got … what do they call them … cocaine eyes.”
Cops discussed taking “envelopes” to protect illegal dispensaries and massage parlours
The ITO also includes allegations that Barnhardt and several other officers openly discussed taking bribes — or “envelopes” — in exchange for providing police protection to black-market cannabis dispensaries and erotic massage parlours they planned to operate.
The warrant documents say the illicit businesses never opened, but investigators allege Barnhardt and Da Costa took steps to “plan, finance, and operate” them with the help of several Toronto police officers.
“When all three (dispensaries) are open, we buy the bare minimum of government weed, we keep all on display … then on the back shelf it’s all the homegrown stuff,” the ITO quotes Barnhardt telling his former police partner.
A lawyer for Da Costa declined to comment.

Federal probe of Ilhan Omar reportedly targets her father's immigration paperwork, not her marriage

A federal investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar's immigration history is focused less on whether she married her brother and more on how she became a U.S. citizen, raising the prospect of a denaturalization fight that could strip her of citizenship altogether.

New figures show that B.C. is running up debt faster than any other subnational jurisdiction in North America, including famously indebted U.S. states such as California and New York.
The province’s deficit forecast now stands at $13.8 billion for the year, according to an update released this week by the B.C. Ministry of Finance.
That’s equivalent to $2,400 in new debt for every single resident of the province. Or, about $46 in new debt per resident, per week.
The figure not only dwarfs the relative debt accumulation of any other Canadian province, but of all 50 U.S. states.
The B.C. deficit is so high, in fact, that it will almost exactly match this year’s deficit in Ontario, a province with more than three times the population.
The latest estimates from the government of Ontario Premier Doug Ford also put their deficit at $13.8 billion.
But with more than 16 million Ontarians (as opposed to 5.7 million British Columbians), Ontario's deficit will work out to a per-capita rate of about $850.
The Quebec government of Christine Fréchette has come in for criticism for its fiscal imprudence. One issue that emerged in the province’s ongoing provincial election was a Santé Québec IT project that ballooned from $98 million to more than $1 billion.
But Quebec’s budget deficit this year is still pegged at roughly half of B.C.’s, despite a larger population and larger GDP. The most recent estimates have Quebec’s deficit at $7.2 billion.
B.C.’s rate of debt accumulation also dwarfs anything seen among U.S. states, even those notorious for their spendthrift finances.
California is on course to run a deficit this fiscal year of $26 billion (US$18.5 billion). It’s roughly double B.C.’s deficit, but in a state with eight times the population and more than 10 times the GDP. Per capita, the California deficit works out to the equivalent of C$660.
The contrast is even more stark in New York State, whose total deficit is expected to come in at about the same amount as in B.C.
New York is planning for a three-year deficit equivalent to about $48 billion. Or, about $16 billion per year.
This means the New York budget deficit will only be about 15 per cent higher than British Columbia’s, despite a GDP of about C$3.4 trillion, as compared to B.C.’s GDP of about $430 billion.
The awesome scale of the B.C. deficit stands in sharp contrast to the fact that, only a few years ago, B.C. was running one of the most fiscally responsible budgets in Canada.
Under NDP premier John Horgan, B.C. ran surpluses in both 2018 and 2019 before finances were sent massively into the red by the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, less than two years after the beginning of COVID lockdowns, Horgan was able to restore the provincial budget to surplus. In 2022/2023, B.C. took in $704 million more than it spent.
What changed was Horgan’s replacement in November 2022. In his tenure so far, Premier David Eby has presided over the fastest rate of debt accumulation in the province’s history.
Total B.C. debt stood at $89.4 billion on Eby’s first day in office and is now projected to breach $180 billion by 2027.
B.C. is running up these record deficits despite the fact that provincial revenues are now being padded by a sharp increase in royalties from natural gas.
LNG Canada, the country’s first LNG export facility, opened last year on the B.C. coast.
In fact, B.C.’s budget deficit came in about $1.5 billion higher than expected because the province’s Ministry of Energy and Climate Solutions had initially miscalculated the expected amount of natural gas royalties.
The mistake was to apply a U.S. dollar conversion to amounts that were already expressed in Canadian dollars.
This is also a particularly bad time to be taking out record levels of provincial debt, with rising interest rates spiking the cost of debt servicing.
When Eby took office, B.C. paid about $2 billion per year in interest charges. It’s now triple that, with this year’s debt servicing costs expected to top $6.3 billion.
This week, two former B.C. finance ministers told Postmedia that B.C.’s current rate of debt accumulation was unsustainable.
“The engine of growth can’t be the public-sector jobs, because it seems to me that in the last few years, the public sector has grown disproportionately, and of course the deficit has just ballooned after Horgan,” Ujjal Dosanjh, NDP finance minister in the 1990s, told the Vancouver Sun.

Self-styled “professor” Xueqin Jiang became an internet sensation after a 2024 video he posted to his YouTube channel went viral. In the video, Jiang made three big predictions: Trump would win the 2024 election, the US would go to war with Iran, and ultimately, the US would lose that war. He has been dubbed “China’s Nostradamus,” and his YouTube channel now has more than 2 million subscribers. But in this ‘Mehdi Unfiltered’ interview, Mehdi Hasan challenges Jiang on how accurate – or unique! – those predictions are, including the big 2024 prediction he got wrong; whether he has slipped into antisemitic conspiracy theorizing; and why exactly his YouTube channel isn’t being censored by China. In this provocative and wide-ranging interview, Mehdi also presses Jiang on peddling conspiracy theories about the Illuminati and the Jesuits, as well as his promotion of the far-right concept of “Pax Judaica.”
I already had serious questions after the sudden appearance of Jiang on dozens of videos appearing almost overnight. Especially after I heard him say that Stalin was a "Messiah" figure to the Russians! Huh? Are we talking the same Stalin who closed all the churches and killed millions of Christians?
You know how the Chinese Communist Party could easily create a "Nostradamus" like Jiang? Easy. Pick a dozen or so candidates and instruct each of them to make predictions. The odds are that one of them is going to be mostly right. Then you've got your man to carry water for you. (I should say "fire".)
PS - Compare Jiang's few predictions to the many made by Don Brooks and I in our 6 Cycles of God chart. We've been right on every one since we wrote our booklet in 2012-2014 "Church - Coming of Age". Nobody believed us back then that Europe would be overwhelmed by waves of illegal Muslim migrants, or that the USA and France would once again see the same kind of internal conflicts that started those nations.
