CANADIAN:
Mark Carney previously tried to placate Canadians by saying he was reducing immigration — it turns out the numbers that got published were fake!
Despite promising — and apparently delivering — a reduction in immigration, it’s now been revealed that the reductions seen were greatly exaggerated.
On Wednesday, Statistics Canada published new population estimates, revising previous immigration figures from those first reported.
For instance, in the third quarter of 2025, StatsCan originally said Canada’s population dropped by ~76,000, but the new figure says Canada actually grew by at least 115,000. Keep reading.
Carney also recently chose to make his wife, Diana Fox Carney, Canada’s Ocean Envoy, later promising $82 million over five years to bolster ocean monitoring.
Fox Carney made her first appearance as Ocean Envoy alongside her husband this week at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
She has previously bragged that being the wife of the prime minister gives her “special access” to people and opportunities that she would otherwise not have.

Besides the $82 million for ocean monitoring, it was revealed this week that Ottawa shelled out $5.8 billion in foreign aid in 2025.
This includes $217 million in foreign aid to Palestine, nearly twice that given to Ukraine (excluding $25.5 billion in multifaceted assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in 2022).

Biden Judge Drops Bomb - Dem's Reeling
A Biden-appointed federal judge handed New York Attorney General Letitia James a legal setback, tossing the multi-state lawsuit challenging DOGE's access to Treasury Department systems, a case that collapsed after the very team it targeted no longer existed.
U.S. District Judge Jeannette Vargas ruled Wednesday that the claims brought by James and a coalition of 18 other states were moot, finding that the Treasury DOGE team had already been disbanded and no DOGE-affiliated employees remained at the department. With no active access to enjoin, the court found nothing left to litigate.
Fox News Digital reported that Vargas also separately dismissed the states' challenge to an automated payment-review system, ruling the coalition had not alleged that any specific federal payment owed to their states had been frozen or canceled.
The dismissal marks a notable reversal for James, who positioned herself at the front of the legal resistance to DOGE's government-efficiency mission from the start.
Vargas' own injunction couldn't save the case
Vargas was no stranger to this dispute. In February 2025, she granted the states a preliminary injunction barring Treasury's DOGE team from accessing covered payment systems, a move the Justice Department challenged as unconstitutional. DOJ attorneys argued the blocking order interfered with executive branch accountability, calling it "impermissible" and contending that democratic accountability "requires that every executive agency's work be supervised by politically accountable leadership, who ultimately answer to the president," as the Washington Examiner reported.
Over the months that followed, Vargas modified her own injunction to permit access for personnel who complied with specified vetting, training, hiring, reporting, and mitigation procedures. The legal fight dragged on, until the underlying facts shifted beneath it.
By Wednesday, the Treasury DOGE team had been disbanded entirely. No employees remained. The access the states had sued to block simply did not exist anymore. In her order, Vargas wrote that "plaintiffs' claims related to access by DOGE-affiliated employees to sensitive Treasury information are dismissed as moot."
That left the states with their secondary argument: that an automated payment-review system posed a threat to federal funds owed to their governments. Vargas rejected that claim too, finding the coalition had never identified a single specific payment that had been frozen or canceled by the process.
Nineteen states, zero concrete harm
The coalition James assembled included 19 states total. Their lawsuit argued the Trump administration had unlawfully opened sensitive Treasury systems, managed by the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, to DOGE-affiliated employees, putting state financial information and federal payments at risk and exceeding the administration's legal authority.
President Trump established the U.S. DOGE Service Temporary Organization through an executive order in January 2025, directing executive agencies to create DOGE teams tasked with identifying fraud, waste, and abuse. The order set July 4, 2026, as the organization's termination date. Treasury subsequently gave DOGE-affiliated employees access to Bureau of the Fiscal Service systems, and the states sued the following month.
But the states never demonstrated that DOGE's access had caused them tangible injury. No frozen payment. No canceled disbursement. No specific dollar amount withheld. The lawsuit amounted to a broad objection to the administration's efficiency initiative, and when the DOGE team left Treasury, even that objection lost its footing.
James' long record of legal confrontation with Trump
The DOGE lawsuit is only the latest chapter in James' sustained legal campaign against the Trump administration. She launched a civil fraud lawsuit against Trump and the Trump Organization in 2022, after campaigning on investigating his business practices, a fact her critics have cited as evidence of political motivation rather than prosecutorial neutrality.
That civil fraud case initially carried penalties exceeding $450 million. An appeals court later upheld Trump's liability but voided the financial penalty, a mixed outcome that left the case's ultimate resolution unclear.
Trump's legal team has pushed back aggressively, with his attorneys at one point accusing James of dodging a court order on evidence in the fraud case. Meanwhile, a former prosecutor alleged that James' office ordered staff to target Trump and then deleted relevant evidence, claims that raised serious questions about whether the attorney general's investigations were driven by law or by politics.
Those allegations have drawn broader scrutiny. Accusations surfaced that James' office targeted Trump allies for political reasons, a pattern her defenders have dismissed but her record has done little to dispel.
Fox News Digital reached out to both the White House and James' office for comment on the dismissal. Neither response was reported.
A political challenger enters the picture
James' legal setbacks have not gone unnoticed in New York politics. Trump himself has endorsed a challenger to unseat her as attorney general, a signal that the political consequences of her legal strategy may be catching up with her office.
Wednesday's ruling does not end every legal question surrounding DOGE. The temporary organization remains active under Trump's executive order through its July 2026 termination date, and its work across other agencies continues. But in the Treasury fight, the one James chose to lead, the court found the states showed up with a lawsuit and no injury to show for it.
When you build a legal case on the premise that something dangerous is happening, it helps if the danger still exists by the time the judge rules. James assembled 19 states, filed suit, and watched the entire basis for her claims dissolve before the court could act. Taxpayers in those states deserve attorneys general who pick fights they can finish.

Jim Copenhaver, survivor of 2024 Butler rally shooting, dead at 76

He turned to Randy and said, "I think I was shot."
Copenhaver was rushed to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh alongside fellow rally-goer David Dutch, who took rounds to his chest and liver. Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former fire chief, was killed shielding his wife and daughter. Trump himself was struck in the ear. A Secret Service counter-sniper shot Crooks dead moments later. The FBI later said Crooks died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Two bullets, two years of pain, and a lawsuit the government never answered
Copenhaver's injuries were severe and lasting. He underwent multiple surgeries. Bullet fragments remained lodged inside his body. He lost 30 pounds, suffered chronic abdominal pain, and needed a cane to walk, the New York Post reported after an October 2024 NBC News interview in which both Copenhaver and Dutch spoke publicly for the first time about the attack.
In that interview, Copenhaver did not hold back about the agency tasked with protecting the rally.
Silva wrote on X:
"I've got very sad news: Jim Copenhaver, who was shot at the Butler Trump rally on July 13, 2024, has died. I don't have many details at this point, but it's no secret that Jim was dealing with permanent injuries from Butler, including having bullet fragments still inside of him. RIP Jim."
Copenhaver told NBC News he was certain negligence played a role. Dutch, a 57-year-old former Marine who could no longer drive or lift more than ten pounds after the shooting, was blunter. He said he believed there was "100% negligence on the Secret Service, probably everybody involved in setting that security, down to inter-department communications."
The Secret Service itself has acknowledged breakdowns in communication, technology, and human judgment surrounding the rally. A Senate probe found the attack was "foreseeable" and "preventable." Crooks had been at the rally site for 70 minutes before the shooting and had flown a drone over the fairgrounds before Trump took the stage.
On June 1, Copenhaver and his wife Marianne filed a civil lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania seeking more than $150,000 in damages from the federal government. The suit alleged security failures by the Secret Service, including failures related to the rooftop from which Crooks fired. Dutch joined Copenhaver in pursuing his own legal action against the government.
No government response sits on the federal docket
As of the latest publicly available docket information, the federal government has not filed a response to the Copenhaver lawsuit. Silva reported in June on the lawsuit's details, including the extensive abdominal trauma that required further surgeries well after the initial hospitalization.
Copenhaver had hoped to recover enough to ride his Harley-Davidson again with Randy. He never got there. Instead, he became one of the most outspoken survivors of the Butler shooting, pressing publicly for accountability from the agencies that let a 20-year-old with a rifle reach an unguarded rooftop within clear line of sight of a presidential candidate and thousands of rally-goers.
A Government Accountability Office report later exposed Secret Service policy failures and missed warnings before the assassination attempt, reinforcing the survivors' claims that the disaster was avoidable.
After the shooting, Copenhaver's family had thanked first responders, medics, and hospital staff for their care. They said he was praying for the other victims and for Trump.
A family statement released through Allegheny Health Network at the time of his hospital discharge read: "Jim would like to especially thank the first responders, medics, and hospital staff who have provided him with initial and continuing care."
Copenhaver was a grandfather with at least one son and several grandchildren. He had grown increasingly involved in local issues in Moon Township. Before the shooting, he was an ordinary retiree who drove an hour to see a president he supported. He left on a stretcher.
House Republicans mourn a man who 'endured unimaginable hardship'
House Republicans released a statement mourning Copenhaver's death:
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Copenhaver, who was gravely wounded in the horrific shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. Jim endured unimaginable hardship with strength and perseverance. We join his family and loved ones in mourning his loss and praying for them during this difficult time. May he rest in peace."
Copenhaver's family has not yet commented publicly. The U.S. Sun said it reached out to the Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner. The exact cause and date of death have not been disclosed.
Federal investigators later revealed that Crooks had spent years building firearms skills before the attack, and that the Secret Service knew a rifle was on the roof yet never relayed that information to Trump's protective detail.
The Washington Examiner reported at the time that Copenhaver's family described his injuries as "life-altering." Two years later, that description proved an understatement.
Jim Copenhaver went to a rally and paid a price that should have been the government's to prevent. He spent his final years demanding answers. The government still hasn't offered one.

Xi brought some soft power of his own, announcing two pandas for the Atlanta Zoo. And a state dinner — featuring crispy pancetta, seabass and a toast with the same American sparkling wine served during Richard Nixon’s historic 1972 visit to China — offered another display of warmth.
Even against already-low expectations of concrete outcomes, there was little to show for the spectacle.
The two sides discussed artificial intelligence, with Xi proposing continued dialogue on its risks and benefits. But there was no sign of any new mechanism for managing AI.
On Taiwan, Xi raised the pressure, urging Trump to “oppose” independence — stronger language than Washington’s longstanding position that it “does not support” it.
The trade truce got another two months, but even that extension was shorter than some had expected.
The lack of deliverables may miss the point. After a year in which tariffs soared and China demonstrated its rare-earth leverage, both presidents appeared determined to keep the relationship from veering back toward confrontation.
The splendor, in some ways, was the substance: a demonstration that the world’s superpowers can still talk even when they agree on little.
There were plenty of reminders of how fragile their détente remains, not least with US-made F-35 fighter jet parts somehow stuck in China.
The leaders have two more potential opportunities to meet this year, at Xi’s APEC in November, followed by Trump’s G20.

1. Xi presses Trump to adopt tougher language against Taiwanese independence
Facts: During their September 24 summit, Xi Jinping urged Trump to adopt what Beijing described as the “correct position” of opposing Taiwanese independence.
That would be stronger than Washington’s longstanding formulation that it does not support independence. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry condemned Xi’s account and said Taiwan’s future can be decided only by its people. Why it matters to Dan: This is the substantive development from yesterday’s summit. A seemingly small change from “does not support” to “opposes” could narrow America’s strategic ambiguity and embolden Beijing.
Taiwan is also central to advanced-semiconductor production. Any reduction in deterrence would affect defence systems, vehicles, AI infrastructure and media-production hardware. Diplomatic wording occasionally carries more payload than the aircraft pictured behind it.
2. Bank of Canada warns American tariffs could push growth below 1%
Facts: Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem warned on September 21 that recently announced American tariffs could reduce Canada’s fourth-quarter annualized growth below 1%, compared with an earlier projection of approximately 1.5%.
Canada grew at a 3.3% annualized pace in the second quarter, but renewed trade uncertainty may discourage investment and hiring. Inflation remains at 3%, while elevated oil prices create additional pressure. Reuters, published September 21

3. Bond yields reach multidecade highs despite hopes for an Iran truce
