The biggest political scandal in Canadian history?

The biggest scandal of Trudeau’s political career – potentially the biggest political scandal in Canadian history – is currently unfolding. 

But a huge number of Canadians are unaware. 

 

Did you know that Trudeau himself had to testify at the public inquiry into foreign election interference yesterday? 

 

You can be forgiven if you didn’t. 

With new scandals coming to light every day, people are exhausted and can tune this stuff out. 

And of course, you can’t rely on Trudeau’s bought-and-paid-for legacy media to report the truth!

Let’s get you up to speed, quickly:

 

  • ·        In 2017, the Canadian National Security Advisor drafted a memo for Trudeau which stated that Chinese agents were "assisting Canadian candidates running for political offices" and that there was documented evidence of China attempting to infiltrate "all levels of government."

  • ·        In 2019, Trudeau received a classified report from the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians warning that public officials across all levels of government were being targeted, and that the government had been "slow to react to the threat of foreign interference" and "must do better."

  • ·        Just a few weeks before the 2019 election, security officials reportedly gave an "urgent, classified briefing" to Liberal party officials warning them that one of their candidates, Han Dong, was part of a Chinese foreign interference network.

 

The fact that this briefing was ignored by key Liberal insiders came to light earlier this year, and is what eventually led to this public inquiry. 

 

One thing is crystal clear: attempts at foreign interference were made. CSIS briefed Trudeau that China “clandestinely and deceptively interfered in both the 2019 and 2021 general elections.”

 

So why didn’t Trudeau take action – or at least inform Canadians that their elections were being interfered with?

The testimonies at this inquiry have not helped answer that question. 

In fact, they just raise further questions:

 

  • ·        Han Dong admitted that he does not know who arranged or paid for a bus of Mandarin-speaking international students to vote for him in his 2019 nomination race.

  • ·        Trudeau’s deputy chief of staff Brian Clow revealed that “Most of the information in that [CSIS] document … was not relayed to us in that [briefing provided by CSIS] – particularly the very stark conclusions.” In other words, no one in the PMO actually read the document. They just heard the briefing, ignored it, and went on with their day. 

  • ·        Liberal MP Karina Gould – who was the minister of democratic institutions in 2019 – testified that she was never briefed during or after the 2019 federal election on allegations of foreign interference.

  • ·        Trudeau’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, confirmed that she doesn’t put much stock in national security intelligence assessments, and went on to state "I can't provide information of what I have been briefed on in a public setting.”

 

Clearly, something stinks here. 

 

As a result of these contradictory versions of events, the head of Canada’s spy agency has been recalled for a second appearance before the public inquiry.

This story is far from being over.

Canadians deserve the truth.


But how has the CBC covered this scandal? 

Predictably, with a headline that glosses over all these testimonies and dutifully repeats Trudeau’s talking points:

Biden’s “Poor Memory”: DOJ Hides Audio, GOP Fights Back:

Oh, boy, buckle up, folks, because here we go again with the never-ending saga of Democrats playing hide and seek with the truth. So, Attorney General Merrick Garland and his pals over at the Department of Justice are once again refusing to hand over the goods when it comes to the interview audio of President Joe Biden with Special Counsel Hur. And you know what that means – another day, another Democratic dodge.

House Republicans, led by the fearless duo of James Comer and Jim Jordan, rightfully issued subpoenas for these crucial documents after Hur’s report supposedly painted Biden as an “elderly man with a poor memory.” Now, why does that sound all too familiar? Oh yeah, it’s because the Democrats love to pull out the old “poor memory” card whenever they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Classic move, Dems, really original.

 

But lo and behold, just like a magician pulling a disappearing act, the DOJ provided incomplete information to the Committees, giving them the runaround with redacted transcripts and empty promises. It’s like they think they can just twiddle their thumbs and hope the whole thing blows over. Well, guess what, Garland and crew, the GOP isn’t backing down, and they’re not buying your smoke and mirrors routine.

 

And let’s talk about the nerve of the DOJ accusing the Committees of having “political motivations.” Excuse me? Last time I checked, it’s your side that’s playing politics with national security and transparency. If anyone’s got an agenda, it’s you, DOJ. Maybe try being honest for once and see how that feels.

 

So here we are, with Garland staring down the barrel of contempt of Congress charges because he can’t seem to part ways with a little ol’ audio recording. Come on, man, just hand it over and let’s get to the bottom of this mess. But hey, when you’ve got something to hide, I guess the truth is optional. Classic Democrats – never change, right? Trust me, folks, this spectacle is far from over, and you can bet your bottom dollar the GOP will keep fighting for accountability, no matter how many hoops Garland tries to make them jump through.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) is pulling the threads of the Left’s censorship efforts.

Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, wrote a letter demanding answers on organizations attempting to silence conservative platforms through organized advertiser boycotts.

 

Jordan wrote, “The Committee on the Judiciary is conducting oversight of the adequacy and enforcement of U.S. antitrust laws. The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) through its Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) initiative may be acting inconsistent with U.S. antitrust laws and congressional intent by coordinating GARM members’ efforts to demonetize and eliminate disfavored content online. Accordingly, to inform our oversight and potential legislative remedies, we write to ask Unilever to preserve and provide documents and information.”

Independent journalists have discovered a cat’s cradle of organizations that smear certain websites and online accounts as hateful or dangerous spreads of disinformation and misinformation.

 

Some of these organizations are taking money from the federal government, which means that the government is effectively engaging in censorship and violating the First Amendment.

 

Jordan continued, “Unilever’s position on GARM’s Steer Team places Unilever at the center of many of the concerning actions GARM and its members coordinated. Evidence the Committee has obtained suggests that GARM members, led by Steer Team members, are colluding to demonetize conservative platforms and voices. Further, this coordination does not always revolve around ‘brand safety’ and ‘harmful’ content as GARM publicly claims, but instead the desire to censor conservative and other views that GARM members disfavor. Communications the Committee has reviewed directly connects Unilever with these efforts.”

 

Labeling certain voices as “hateful” or spreaders of “disinformation” creates a pretext for advertisers to pull out and for the government to launch investigations.

 

Big players

Major corporations are entangled in this web.

The World Economic Forum released in a statement, “GARM focuses on viewer safety for consumers, reducing risks for advertisers, developing credibility for digital platforms and, more broadly, ensuring a sustainable online ecosystem. . .

 

Partners involved in the Global Alliance for Responsible Media through the Forum’s Platform for Shaping the Future of Media, Entertainment and Sport include companies such as LEGO Group, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, NBC Universal – MSNBC, Dentsu Group, WPP (through GroupM), Interpublic Group, Publicis Groupe, Omnicom Group, Facebook and Google.”

 

So, some of the biggest companies in the world are participating, whether they know it or not, in a mass censorship operation.

Jordan and the Republicans need to nip this in the bud before it becomes yet another extension of the Washington, D.C. Swamp.

Adam Schiff Learns His Fate

In the California U.S. Senate campaign, Democratic candidate Rep. Adam Schiff and Republican contender Steve Garvey prevailed, establishing a general election for November.

 

Because of Garvey’s second-place performance, firmly Democratic California will probably send Schiff to the U.S. Senate the following year.

 

Rep. Barbara Lee’s (D-Calif.) progressive message and Schiff’s appeal to the general public was too much for Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.), who was defeated by Garvey’s outsider candidacy.

 

Schiff was the overwhelming favorite coming into Tuesday’s primaries after winning the polls ahead of time.The big picture: For the first time in many years, Californians will not have a female senatorial representative.

 

The winner of the election in November will assume the position formerly held by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). At the age of 90, Feinstein passed away in September of last year.

Appointed to the position, Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-Calif.) chose not to run for a full term.

 

Garvey, who was a part of the 1981 World Series victory team for the Los Angeles Dodgers, says he wants to bring back the “heartbeat” of that historic state.

 

Defending his entry into the contest as a Republican, Garvey dismissed opponents in a December interview with Fox News, claiming they only wanted to serve half the state.

“Earlier this year, I wondered, ‘Let’s see who I can get behind in California that I can support, that had my values and my commitment to this country,’ and I couldn’t find anybody. You know how strongly liberal [California has become] over the years and generations,” the former first baseman said.

“I woke up one morning and decided to see if there’s a pathway to run for the U.S. Senate,” he added.

In an effort to engage voters throughout the state, he told Fox that his campaign has been busy.

“We’ve been actively, over the first probably four months after making that decision, talking to significant people that I trust in the world of politics and then going around California, talking to the people in the north, coastal and central California, and also down south where we are,” the one-time National League MVP said.

Between 1969 and 1987, Garvey played for the Dodgers for 14 years and the San Diego Padres for 5 more.

“My whole life has been based on, you know, team building and putting teams together with comparable skills, leadership, dedication, passion,” he said. “It doesn’t stop just with sports teams. It goes all the way into business and politics, in religion and all those things.”

On his first day in office, Garvey declared he would make an effort to visit with each senator in order to establish a connection with them should he be elected.

 

He added that he was in California when it was the “heartbeat of America,” but that due to the difficulties locals are facing with money and safety, it has now turned into a “murmur.”

“The challenges of hardworking Californians getting up every day and knowing that, under our economy now and inflation, that by the time the month’s over, they could be losing seven, eight, $900. And that’s when they’re even managing their daily lives well,” Garvey said. “The food and the gas and education for their children, clothing … all of these things are due to rising inflation so much that it’s tough to stay above water.

 

“What I’ll focus on is getting back to a free market, capitalism, that will target small businesses,” he added. “You know, there’s so many people that want to start businesses and small businesses. Small businesses are the foundation of the business world, especially here in California. So many of those people who wanted to start small businesses have left California.”

 

Meanwhile, Schiff is facing criticism over allegations that he has been using homeowner tax benefits to claim two primary residences in Maryland and California for more than 10 years while pushing a “Trump-Russia collusion” fiction for years during and after the former president’s term.

 

Further escalating the dispute, tax records show that 2017 was the only year Schiff paid property taxes in California with a personal check bearing his Maryland address.

Major Update in Ashley Biden Diary Saga:

A Florida woman has been under fire for her involvement in the scandal concerning the Biden family’s personal items. On Tuesday, Aimee Harris, who acknowledged robbing President Joe Biden’s daughter of her journal and selling it to Project Veritas, a conservative organization, received a one-month prison sentence.

 

The public first learned about Ashley Biden’s diary in October 2020 after it was revealed that parts of its entries were being leaked. There were rumored to be personal reflections and experiences in the diary. The circumstances surrounding the public release of the diary’s contents have generated controversy and raised issues with legality and privacy.

 

In August 2022, Harris pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge, admitting her involvement in Ashley Biden’s personal belongings being sold to Project Veritas. The conservative activist group is well-known for its use of hidden cameras and undercover sting operations to expose bias and wrongdoing in the media and other institutions.

 

Harris said last week that he had received $20,000 of the $40,000 the conservative group had paid for the goods. According to Fox News, the sentence, which was handed down in a federal courthouse in Manhattan, also included three months of house arrest.

“I do not believe I am above the law,” Harris, 41, told a judge, following a request from a prosecutor for a prison sentence due to her failure to appear at several sentencing dates. Harris cited her responsibilities caring for her two children, ages 8 and 6, as the reason for her absences. She added, “I’m a survivor of long-term domestic abuse and sexual trauma.”

COMMENTARY: Why Ukraine is losing Abrams tanks:

Recent losses underscore the importance of doctrine and training—not just weapons—in war.

In early March, press reports of the battle at Berdychi, five miles northwest of Avdiivka, asserted that the Ukrainian 47th Mechanized Brigade lost three M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks, at least four M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and two Assault Breacher Vehicles in combat there. These losses represent 10 percent of the brigade’s tanks, five percent of its infantry fighting vehicles and about one-third of its armored engineer vehicles.

In late March, independent visual reporting confirmed four destroyed Abrams tanks in the vicinity of Avdiivka. Make that 12.9 percent of Ukraine’s Abrams lost in one battle.

 

However. these reports also said the capture of the rubble of Avdiivka cost the Russians “at least 16,000 dead, probably tens of thousands of wounded and nearly 800 armored vehicles.” Vague reports of Ukrainian losses suggest a few thousand killed, thousands more wounded, and fewer than 100 armored vehicles lost. The Ukrainians claimed the battle effectively halted the advance of the Russian 2nd and 41st Combined Arms Armies.


The M1A1 Abrams figured prominently, albeit not in detail, in these news accounts of Avdiivka and Berdychi. Such reports will likely feature prominently in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s next series of demands for more U.S. and European financial and material support.

 

But the Ukraine war persists in begging the question: are advanced weapons like the M1A1 Abrams truly force multipliers in Ukraine? Or are they destined to be lost and abandoned on the battlefield?

While many defense pundits wax eloquently about the technological sophistication of Western combat vehicles, the Forecast International Weapons Group once again maintains technology alone is not the key to modern armored warfare. How these weapons are employed tactically is, and always will be, the key factor.


Both the Ukrainian and Russian armies have exhibited a remarkable lack of aptitude, let alone inclination, to properly exploit the potential of advanced weapons on the battlefield in Ukraine. This is not surprising, however, as both armies provide a mirror image of each other in terms of modern tactical sophistication...or, more precisely, the lack thereof.

 

If the Western combat vehicles in Ukraine, such as the Abrams, are employed with crews and commanders well-grounded in Western armored warfare doctrine, the impact on the battlefield could be devastating for Russian forces. But if Ukrainian forces insist on employing these Western weapon systems according to their existing Soviet-style doctrine, the results on the battlefield will remain mixed at best, disastrous at worst. Even the most sophisticated weapon in the world is utterly useless in untrained (or poorly trained) hands.

 

Sadly, as the slaughter in and around Avdiivka and Berdychi reflect, continues to indicate the Ukrainians have NOT embraced Western armored combat doctrine. Indeed, the Ukrainians are still operating in the same discredited Russian mode.

Technology does not win battles. Properly trained soldiers win battles.

Trudeau casts doubt on CSIS intelligence about Chinese election interference:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a public inquiry he found it “very improbable” the Chinese government would prefer his Liberal Party to win recent elections, given the high tensions between the two countries.

Trudeau was testifying at an inquiry into foreign meddling in Canadian elections, particularly by China. The inquiry was prompted by a series of media leaks last year that cited intelligence memos alleging China was orchestrating efforts to get certain candidates elected in Canada.

 

One media story alleged a Chinese diplomat boasted he had helped ensure Trudeau’s Liberal Party won a minority government in parliament, and that such an outcome was best for China. 

But Trudeau rejected the idea China successfully meddled, saying every briefing he’s received from his intelligence and security officials indicates the elections “held in their integrity” and “were decided by Canadians.”


He also disputed the claim China favored his party, pointing out both the 2019 and 2021 elections took place during “significant tensions” between Canada and China. Two Canadian citizens, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, had been detained by China in apparent retaliation for Canada’s arrest of Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou on a U.S. extradition request.

 

Trudeau said Canada was “extremely active” in pushing back on China during this time, including through a global effort for democracies to have a coordinated policy against arbitrary detentions.

He said while individual diplomats “may well have expressed a preference” in terms of who should govern Canada, “it just would seem very improbable that that the Chinese government itself would have a preference in the election,” Trudeau said.

 

More broadly, he also defended his government’s response to the foreign interference threat, and said it was difficult to respond to the allegations being aired in the media based on leaked intelligence.

 

The requirement to keep national security information confidential left his government “limited on what we could actually rebut, regardless of the fact that there were inconsistencies, uncorroborated information in the leaks,” Trudeau said. “There were also things that were flat out wrong.”

 

Some of the leaked intelligence that prompted the inquiry alleged Chinese agents had tried to help elect certain candidates who were deemed friendly to China’s interests. Overall, the leaks raised questions about whether Trudeau’s government had responded strongly enough to prevent foreign interference.


Trudeau’s first response to the leaks was to appoint a “special rapporteur” to review the classified intelligence and provide a report. But the rapporteur, former governor general David Johnston, resigned after the Conservatives and other critics challenged his independence by citing his personal ties to Trudeau’s family.

In September, Trudeau relented and called a public inquiry into the allegations of election meddling not only by China, but other countries including Russia, India and Iran.

 

It began public hearings in January. Intelligence officials, senior bureaucrats, political aides and politicians have given testimony to the inquiry. It has also published a trove of government memos and other documents, though much of it is redacted for national security reasons. 


On Tuesday, senior aides to Trudeau testified that much of the intelligence cited in the media reports was piecemeal and in some cases contradicted by other information. They also said not all of the intelligence cited by media had even been briefed to Trudeau’s office due to its incomplete nature.

 

“What happens with the leaks is that pieces of intelligence reporting get taken out of context,” testified Jeremy Broadhurst, who has run recent Liberal election campaigns and served in senior roles inside government.

A large amount of the questioning focused on former Liberal lawmaker Han Dong. Some media reports alleged that Chinese agents had bussed in foreign students to help Dong win the Liberal nomination in his Toronto-area riding ahead of the 2019 election.

 

But Broadhurst testified he was never given concrete evidence on this by the intelligence briefings, and told Trudeau that there not enough of a basis to disqualify Dong. He told the inquiry that the “bar should be extremely high” when it comes to overturning a vote in a nomination race, a message echoed by Trudeau.


Dong won that election and still serves in parliament, but resigned from the Liberal caucus last year after another media report alleged he spoke to Chinese diplomats in Toronto in 2021 and advised them not to release Spavor and Kovrig for political reasons. Dong denies the allegation.

 

Another senior Trudeau aide, deputy chief of staff Brian Clow, told the inquiry that he had reviewed the intelligence on the matter and concluded the media report was wrong.
