You'll like this video Don. "Many mansions" is a poor translation. Jesus words meant "In my Father's House there are many places to rest. And I go to prepare a place for you." And then there's Rev. 6:

Monday, August 3. The United States and Iran sit back down at the table today. That is not how last week was supposed to end. On Sunday the White House account posted a statement from President Trump that has now been seen more than 2.3 million times:
"The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II. Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to. This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT..."
Read the perimeter again. The immediate, complete and total opening of the waterway that normally carries about 20 percent of the world's oil, shut since the war's opening weeks. The strike Trump shelved was described as the largest planned since World War 2. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Iran itself asked him to hold, and the outline of a deal was on the table. Tehran, for its part, is working every channel it has left: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says talks with Oman on a new Hormuz shipping route are in their final stages, and he spent Sunday on the phone with his Saudi counterpart. Talks with Washington resumed today with no deadline attached.
That post alone would make the week. It is nowhere near the whole story. Across the same 48 hours, Iraq signed its crude past Iran's chokepoint, Baghdad ordered its own soil policed, the American withdrawal ran ahead of its deadline, and the date Iraqi analysts keep circling acquired a number: August 15. Each of these stories carries its own calendar. This month, for the first time since the war started, the calendars agree.

California Democrats buck Newsom and Becerra with vote to endorse billionaire wealth tax

California's Democratic Party resolutions committee voted to recommend endorsing a one-time 5% tax on the state's roughly 200 billionaires, defying both outgoing Gov. Gavin Newsom and gubernatorial nominee Xavier Becerra, who oppose the measure.
The committee's Saturday vote puts Proposition 40, formally titled the California 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, one step closer to an official party endorsement ahead of the November 3 ballot.
But the recommendation is not final. Full endorsement requires at least 60% of delegates to approve it during Sunday's general session, where delegates could also vote to take no position, a move that needs only a simple majority, or pull the recommendation for a separate floor debate.
Either way, the committee's action exposes a sharp rift inside California's ruling party over how far Sacramento should go in taxing its wealthiest residents, and whether doing so would protect state programs or simply chase money across state lines.
Newsom and Becerra lined up against their own party's committee
Newsom has repeatedly opposed a state-level wealth tax, arguing California would put itself at a competitive disadvantage by acting alone. His reasoning is straightforward: billionaires could simply relocate to lower-tax states. He has instead advocated for a federal wealth tax, contending a nationwide approach would close the escape hatch.
Becerra staked out the same ground.
On Friday, the day before the committee vote, he reaffirmed his opposition to Proposition 40 while announcing positions on several other November ballot measures. He endorsed Proposition 3 instead, a measure that would permanently extend an existing income tax surcharge on high earners to fund education, but declined to back the billionaire tax.
The resolutions committee voted to recommend it anyway.
That puts the party's rank-and-file activists on a collision course with the man who currently holds the governor's office and the man who wants it next. For a party that controls every lever of state government, the internal divide is notable. Newsom and Becerra are not battling Republicans. They are battling their own base.
Labor is split, and the left flank is pushing hard
Proposition 40's champion is Dave Regan, president of SEIU United Healthcare Workers West. His union has driven the measure from qualification through the current endorsement fight. Supporters frame the tax as a necessary response to what they describe as approximately $100 billion in federal healthcare cuts under the Trump administration. The proposition is projected to generate an estimated $100 billion in revenue from roughly 200 billionaires.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Ro Khanna, AFSCME California, and the Teamsters California have all endorsed the measure.
But the labor coalition is far from unified. The California State Council of Laborers opposes Proposition 40. So does United Domestic Workers. The California Police Chiefs Association has also come out against it. And SEIU California's own executive board, the statewide arm of the same union whose healthcare local is leading the charge, recently voted to remain neutral.
The California Federation of Labor Unions, a heavyweight whose position could tip the balance, is expected to decide later this week.
Supporters want to tax 200 people to fill a $100 billion hole
Strip away the political maneuvering and the math is blunt. Proposition 40 would impose a one-time 5% levy on approximately 200 California billionaires. Backers say the revenue, an estimated $100 billion, would offset federal healthcare funding losses.
Opponents, including Newsom and Becerra, warn that concentrating a massive tax burden on a tiny group of highly mobile residents is an invitation for those residents to leave.
California already has the highest top marginal income tax rate in the nation. A one-time wealth tax layered on top of that rate would test whether the state's billionaires value living in California more than they value keeping 5% of their net worth.
Newsom's preferred alternative, a federal wealth tax, would eliminate the relocation problem by making the tax inescapable nationwide. It would also require an act of Congress, which makes it functionally theoretical.
Sunday's delegate vote will decide whether the party goes all in
The resolutions committee recommendation now moves to the full delegate body. Three outcomes are possible on Sunday: delegates approve the endorsement with 60% or more, delegates vote by simple majority to take no position, or delegates pull the recommendation for a standalone floor debate.
If the party endorses Proposition 40 over the objections of both the outgoing governor and the incoming nominee, it will send a clear signal about where power sits inside California Democratic politics. The activist base and public-sector unions would have overridden the party's two most prominent elected leaders on a flagship economic question four months before the general election.
Becerra, who will need those same delegates and union volunteers to win in November, would then face a general-election campaign in which his own party's official position contradicts his own.
When a party's grassroots openly defy its standard-bearer on a hundred-billion-dollar question, the disagreement is not a policy nuance, it is a fault line.

Glad to see our Supreme Court is not protecting WE Charity
I smelled a rat after seeing the founder of WE Charity publish a new article every few days in the newspapers. I wrote a letter to the LFP editor wondering how he could write so much so often. I said he must have ghost writers. And not very smart ones at that. The opinions expressed were usually full of holes. When I double-checked on the internet I found out that WE Charity actually did very little in third world countries. And the locals always complained about them.

In May 2021, then-federal ethics commissioner Mario Dion concluded that Trudeau, prime minister at the time, did not breach the conflict of interest law when he participated in decisions concerning WE Charity, which operated in Canada and abroad.
The Liberal government chose WE Charity in 2020 to administer a multimillion-dollar program to encourage students to volunteer for COVID-19 pandemic-related community service.

Identity reinforcement is the essence of affinity groups.
An affinity group is any group of people who are attracted to the same thing.

1950 began with primitive machines, limited computational power, expensive communication and isolated human researchers.
2026 begins with a globally connected scientific civilization, atomic-scale manufacturing, hundreds of billions of dollars in annual research investment, increasingly autonomous intelligence and the accumulated knowledge of humanity available almost instantly.
The last 76 years taught us how to build extraordinary tools.
The next 76 may teach those tools to help us …
… discover, design, simulate, finance, manufacture, authenticate, distribute and continuously improve almost everything civilization requires.
From 1950 to 2026, humanity progressed from a handful of laboratory transistors to:• Nearly trillion-dollar annual semiconductor sales.• Atomic-scale fabrication and globally distributed robotic factories.• Artificial intelligence capable of reasoning, coding, designing proteins and assisting scientific discovery.• Early quantum machines, programmable biology, reusable rockets, advanced nuclear reactors and globally synchronized digital ledgers.
The U.S. semiconductor industry alone invested $62.7 billion in R&D during 2024, while worldwide semiconductor revenue reached approximately $793 billion in 2025 and is projected to approach $1 trillion in 2026.
Private U.S. AI investment reached $285.9 billion in 2025. We are no longer beginning with twelve engineers. We are beginning with millions of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and increasingly capable AI systems connected to nearly all accumulated human knowledge.
That changes the fundamental equation.

The extent of that change will depend heavily on law, regulation, market structure, and adoption.

Tomorrow’s civilization may distribute expertise.

Every breakthrough reduces the cost of creating the next breakthrough.

A Different Kind of Power
Historically, civilization often operated from a model of:
