Budget Spending Binge is not just Local:
Deputy PM Freeland uses political word magic to make it sound like our 2024 federal budget isn't that bad - and of course the owned media plays right along. I see in the paper "More homes, good jobs" forecast, and quote, "The federal government pledged that the current fiscal year's deficit would not get any bigger than its projection of $40.1 Billion.
But three months ago, the deficit was only $23.6 Billion. That's a mighty big jump! There's more:
· As noted in the February 20th, 2024 Western Standard post, “Freeland authorizes $517 billion in federal borrowing,” the Canadian government borrowed a lot of money this year, $73 billion more than last year.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has increased the approved federal borrowing limit by $73 billion, for a total of $517 billion this fiscal year.
According to a report from government watchdog Blacklock’s Reporter, Freeland, through Cabinet, has granted herself authority to make the increase under the Financial Administration Act.
On February 15, Freeland set “$517 billion to be the maximum aggregate principal amount of money that may be borrowed” before April 1. The previous figure was $444 billion. No reason was given.
Under the Borrowing Authority Act, in 2021 the Trudeau Liberals raised the federal debt ceiling 56% from $1.168 trillion to $1.831 trillion.
Freeland has not specified any plans to balance the federal budget. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has previously said, “the budget will balance itself.” The budget was last balanced in 2007.
“The increase in the borrowing authority is in no way a blank cheque,” Freeland earlier testified at the Commons finance committee. “Every single expenditure by the government needs to be authorized by Parliament.”
“What it does is set a ceiling for how much the government can spend,” Freeland continued. “We are saying this is the upper limit to which the government may borrow, but we are not saying the government will undertake those borrowings, nor are we saying anything about government spending.”
Conservative MP Ed Fast rebutted, “You’re simply saying, ‘Give me a blank cheque and then trust me.’”
“The characterization of the borrowing authority limit as a blank cheque is simply false,” replied Freeland. “This is a transparent and open authorization of a level up to which the government may borrow.”
“There are no blank cheques and there are no free lunches,” Freeland told MPs. “Our fiscally expansive approach to fighting the coronavirus cannot and will not be infinite.”
“Is there a dollar figure to which she would limit the debt?” asked Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
“We are mindful that limits exist,” replied Freeland.
Budget Officer Yves Giroux in February 13 testimony at the Senate National Finance Committee said Cabinet’s plans were unclear. “We will have to see,” said Giroux.
“Is that borrowing limit still realistic?” asked Senator Elizabeth Marshall.
“We don’t know exactly what the government plans on spending or doing in terms of new spending or potential spending,” replied Budget Officer Giroux.
“But as it stands now, do you think it looks reasonable?” asked Senator Marshall.
“It looks sufficient but the government always wants to give itself some room to maneuver in case there are unforeseen events that require borrowing on short notice,” replied Giroux.

In fact, the press has written glowing profiles about “Antifa chic” and their “revolutionary” politics.
The so-called mainstream media was less concerned about Antifa’s thuggery and more concerned about an Antifa radical being temporarily detained by a federal agent.
The Left fear-mongered and said that Donald Trump was preparing to unleash the feds on “peaceful protesters.”
The asymmetry in the treatment of left-wing protesters and right-wing protesters is staggering.
Congressman Jerry Nadler called Antifa a “myth,” and FBI Director Christopher Wray said Antifa was merely an “idea.”
But the double standard backfired when a Judge in California allowed members of a right-wing group to go free because of “selective prosecution.”
Viewpoint discrimination
At a Trump rally in April 2017 in Berkeley, California, far-left agitators got into a fight with right-wingers, but the Left was given a walk.
District Court Judge Cormac Carney ruled, “Antifa and related far-left groups decided they needed to ‘shut this down.’ … They came prepared for violence, bringing weapons including pepper spray, fireworks, knives, and homemade bombs…And they used those weapons, as well as their bodies, against Trump supporters and law enforcement…No individuals associated with the left, who engaged in anti-far-right speech and violently suppressed the protected speech of Trump supporters, were charged with a federal crime for their part in starting riots at political events. That is textbook viewpoint discrimination.”
This has been happening all across the country.
Only now is it being called out by a Judge.
Judge Carney added, “Of the 20 people arrested at the April 2017 Berkeley rally, the government charged only Defendants and other members of RAM under the Anti-Riot Act. The government charged no members of Antifa, BAMN, or other far-left groups under the Anti-Riot Act for their use of violence to shut down the rally…To put it simply, RAM and Antifa, which both appear to use violence to silence protected speech, are identical in material respects—the only difference is their speech and beliefs.”
RAM (Rise Above Movement) is a group that holds ugly views, but they should not be singled out while Antifa gets a free pass.
Antifa members have literally killed people, and the media outrage was nowhere to be found.
Judge Carney also wrote, “By many accounts, members of Antifa and related far-left groups engaged in worse conduct and in fact instigated much of the violence that broke out at these otherwise constitutionally protected rallies to silence the protected speech of the supporters of President Trump. That is constitutionally impermissible. The government cannot prosecute RAM members such as Defendants while ignoring the violence of members of Antifa and related far-left groups because RAM engaged in what the government and many believe is more offensive speech.”
The Left has to stop excusing political violence on their side.

Some Christians today are like the Cathars of Medieval France... living so humbly, living by the bible, serving the poor. But totally deceived. I quote from the World History Encyclopedia:

It seems that appearances can be very deceiving, whether it's the austerity of the those in the dark age of Albi France or the indulgence of those in the mystery age of "Babylon".

And both Templars and Cathars were accused of similar depravities.

Erik Prince believes first lady Jill Biden is behind President Joe Biden's decision to run for reelection, the Daily Express reported. The ex-Navy SEAL and Blackwater founder slammed Jill Biden for urging his reelection bid even as the president is "clearly mentally unfit" to serve.
Joe Biden will be 82 years old when he takes office if he wins the 2024 presidential election, and he's beginning to show his age. Prince believes it's Jill Biden who is behind the decision to run again just as it was her idea the first time around.
"Jill Biden is the one that convinced her husband to run in '20, and I’m sure that she’s the one that will carry on – she has the will to power, and she’ll keep riding that horse ‘till the end," Prince told GB News. He claimed she was "guilty of elder abuse."
The president's mind is slipping, and Prince believes that he has become "clearly mentally unfit" to hold high office. These remarks come from the founder of the cyber-security company Unplugged as Democrats also seem to have caught on to the problems with Joe Biden.

The fact that Biden uses notes during news conferences and other events has been fodder for the press for most of his presidency. RNC Research shared one recent example of him fidgeting with cards that contain "A LOT of text," the post to X, formerly Twitter, said.
However, he's now using cheat sheets even in private meetings with donors, which is making them uncomfortable, Axios reported. Joe Biden also calls on donors who are handpicked in advance with prescreened questions, and he refers to notes when giving answers.
Meanwhile, Democrats and their accomplices in the leftist media have attempted to paper over some very real concerns about the president's age. It isn't working.
Although both Joe Biden and his presumed GOP opponent, former President Donald Trump, are both advanced in age, a recent Quinnipiac University poll showed that two-thirds of voters are concerned about the president's ability to serve for another four years. Only 41% expressed a similar concern about Trump.
Congress Could Intervene
Prince told GB News that Congress might have to invoke the Constitution. "If the Democrats are going to remove him, they have to invoke the 25th Amendment of the Constitution, which removes someone that's mentally unfit from doing the job," Prince said.
"Now, I would argue he is clearly mentally unfit. But the Senate – the very partisan Senate – doesn't see it that way," he added.
"The fact that he just completed his physical but neglected to do a neurological exam kind of speaks volumes, right? I think in Latin, res ipsa loquitur – the thing speaks for itself," Prince continued.
"The Democrats have a means within their party platform to swap out Biden for another candidate as late as August, but Biden has to be willing to do that," Prince said. Perhaps an act of Congress will be enough to break Jill Biden's hold over the presidency.
As time goes on, Joe Biden continues to struggle in public with speaking, walking, and answering questions. Regardless of what is compelling him to stay in the race, his wife should at least use her influence to stop this public humiliation.

And now a Miami Herald op-ed is claiming that closing down parking garages during Spring Break to control the chaos of beach crowds is somehow racist.
Fabiola Santiago penned the op-ed with loaded comments, writing how attempting to control beach crowds somehow “evokes” a racial history of targeting blacks.
“In its all-out effort to shed spring break crowds that are largely Black and Latino, the city of Miami Beach, under new leadership, has gone too far this year. No matter how hip the “breaking up with spring break” campaign tries to be, the optics of cracking down on everyone to punish the unlawful acts of troublemakers are awful,” said Santiago.
“White city leaders and police forget that by closing public garages in South Beach, allegedly as a tactic to stem violence, will have the result of shutting out people of color, so evoking the ugly racial history of acts to discourage Blacks from using Florida beaches,” Santiago continued.

Capitol Police calling foul
Former Capitol Police Lieutenant Tarik Johnson was the first to publicly come forward and call January 6 a setup.
Johnson contended that former Assistant Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman, who was in charge of intelligence, intentionally dropped the ball and caused security failures.
For instance, Johnson claimed that Pittman would not give officers the green light to move members of Congress after the breach.
Johnson took the initiative and evacuated the building instead of waiting for Pittman to break the radio silence.
That was one of many security failures that happened on that day.
Now, Johnson is highlighting a recent interview between Independent Journalist Lara Logan and Republican Congressman Barry Loudermilk, who validated Johnson’s claims about January 6. Johnson wrote a Twitter message to his former colleagues that read, “I know some of you are angry with me on how I set upon this mission but please understand I had to do this without a blueprint. January 6th was an ABSOLUTE set-up.
Some very powerful people set-up demonstrators that came to the Capitol and those same people set-up the officers to get hurt by demonstrators by gaslighting their actions to commit violence and then called it an Insurrection…I am [now] fighting for accountability and if the country would like to give Pittman and Farnam passes for their leading roles in the set-up and Manger and Newell passes for their leading roles in the cover-up, I will accept that and move on to the next phase of my life whatever that is…Special thanks to Congressman Loudermilk and Lara Logan for their sacrifices in this fight for Justice. Official reports from multiple Governments across the globe have sounded the alarm bells by documenting an unprecedented number of excess deaths since the widespread administration of Covid-19 injections.
Official figures provided to EuroMOMO by the UK Government and 26 other Governments of counties across Europe reveal that most of the continent suffered 375,253 excess deaths in 2021 and 404,6000 excess deaths in 2022.
This equates to 779,853 excess deaths over the two years. The figures do not include Ukraine so cannot be blamed on the ongoing war.

He posted them for sale on the internet, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Hart was arraigned Monday afternoon and pleaded not guilty to 13 charges including conspiracy, sale of prohibited materials and illegal importation, the statement said.”
“It’s the first prosecution in the U.S. to include charges related to a 2020 law that prohibits the importation of hydrofluorocarbons, commonly used as refrigerants, without permission from the Environmental Protection Agency, according to prosecutors,” Fox divulged.
