Joe Biden is already under an impeachment inquiry as the House investigates Biden’s participation in a series of schemes by James and Hunter Biden to allegedly sell access to Joe Biden during his tenure as Vice President under Barack Obama.
Now, Biden set off alarms in the White House counsel’s office over a scheme by Biden’s re-election campaign to sell direct access to Biden in the White House to mega donors.
Former Disney Chairman and Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg reportedly arranged a number of power lunches at the White House between Biden and other Democrat Party mega-donors.
The lunches were of such concern to the White House counsel’s office that Biden’s lawyers had to set up strict guidelines on where to stage them to avoid ethics violations.
“President Biden was advised last year by the White House Counsel office that giving big-dollar donors tours of the Oval Office might raise legal issues and he has since stopped the practice, according to people familiar with the matter,” Axios reports.
“Why it matters: Biden has been hosting donors inside the White House residence for private meals and briefings, to help energize them and convince them that he has a plan to beat former President Trump,” Axios also reported.
Obama goaded Joe Biden into disclosing the meetings.
Biden leaked the news of the lunches to the Washington Post as a direct response to Barack Obama planting a story with the Post that neither Biden nor his campaign were meeting the moment in the 2024 election.
“Another person familiar with the meetings said the recent gatherings are an improvement on sessions held in 2019 with major business figures and donors. Those events were more scripted around Biden’s plans for the presidency and were often a variation on his stump speech,” the Washington Post exclusively reported.
“In contrast, the person said, the current meetings have gone a long way to reassure supporters about Biden’s energy and commitment. “It has dispelled anybody who has any doubts about his determination and his energy and his passion,” the person said,” the Post also reported.
The Biden team was so desperate to put out the brush fire that Obama stated that they didn’t even care they were confirming the fact that Biden turned the White House into another kind of influence-peddling cash grab.
