Maricopa County Responds to AG, Expected to Certify Election Monday:
Arizona's Maricopa County pushed back on Republican claims that voting difficulties disenfranchisedvoters on election day.
The county's elections board responded to a letter from the state attorney general's office Sunday, with Division Chief, Civil Services Division Thomas Liddy addressing Assistant AG Jennifer Wright in a legal response.
"Our response is available for the public to read in its entirety and details how Maricopa County followed state and federal laws to ensure every voter was provided the opportunity to cast a ballot," Board of Supervisors Chair Bill Gates, a Republican, wrote in a statement.
Gates plans to canvass Maricopa County's election results as required by law to be done by Monday, Nov. 28. A news conference has been called.
"Accountability promotes responsibility," Arizona GOP Attorney General-nominee Abe Hamadeh tweeted Saturday amid a recount in his own election, where he trailed by 510 votes. "Elections that are mismanaged or perceived as unfair will only sow the seeds of doubt to the system that holds this country together."
The report from the county noted malfunctions occurredat least 43 and as many as 63 of the county's 223 vote centers.
"Maricopa County experienced unanticipated printing problems in 31% of its vote centers," Liddy wrote to Wright. "These problems caused some ballots to be printed in a way that prevented some of the precinct-based tabulators from reading them, although all the ballots were easily readable by the human eye. But Republican legislators in Florida just made one announcement that many view as a signal that Ron DeSantis will run for President in 2024.
Ron DeSantis became the most popular Republican elected official in the country during the pandemic when he stood up and rejected Anthony Fauci and Joe Biden’s lockdowns and mandates.
Even though DeSantis is wildly popular with Republican voters nationwide, before the Midterm elections polls consistently showed him trailing Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 Republican Primary.
But that changed after the elections.
Republicans were left disappointed after the expected red wave never materialized and Democrats overperformed at the polls.
Since Donald Trump’s endorsed candidates for Senate and Governor lost winnable races, many Republicans blamed him for the GOP’s underperformance in the Midterms.
But in Florida, Ron DeSantis racked up a nearly 20-point landslide victory over Charlie Crist and turned Florida from a swing state into a solid red state.
DeSantis stood for freedom and pushed a conservative agenda of defeating the woke Left, fighting back against Biden’s border crisis, and rejecting COVID tyranny.
In an election where most GOP candidates underperformed, Republican voters are looking at Ron DeSantis’ landslide victory as a blueprint for winning future elections.
And numerous polls taken since the Midterms now show DeSantis leading the 2024 GOP Presidential field.
A post-election national poll released by YouGov showed DeSantis beating Trump by 46% to 39%.
A poll conducted in Florida by Sachs Media showed DeSantis beating Trump by 45 points, 66% to 21%.
And a survey out of Iowa from Neighborhood Research and Media for Courageous Conservatives PAC showed DeSantis leading Trump in the critical Iowa Caucus by two points, 32% to 30%.
Even though DeSantis has yet to reveal his 2024 plans, Republicans in Florida just made one announcement that looks like a clear sign that he is planning a run for the White House.
Florida State House Speaker Paul Renner called changing the state’s “resign to run” law a “good idea.”
The “resign to run” law says officials must resign from their office when running for a new one if the terms would overlap if they win.
“You will find me to always try to hone toward being principled and consistent,” Renner said. “This is one area that, going back in history — you don’t have to go very far on a kind of two-second Google search — we’ve been totally inconsistent on,” he continued, before adding that “if you think that’s based on anything in your hypothetical, you would be right, and I’ll be very open and transparent about that.”
Senate President Kathleen Passidomo seconded Renner’s opinion, saying that “if Speaker Renner thinks it’s a good idea, I think it’s a good idea.”
Ron DeSantis may not be willing to share his plans for 2024 with the public.
But the leaders of the Florida state legislature coming out in support of changing the “resign to run” law sure look like a clear signal he is planning to make a run for the White House in two years.

Republicans Stop Liberal Child-Abusers in Their Tracks
Tennessee lawmakers have introduced legislation to outlaw the contentious practice of pediatric medical gender transition in the state.
The Protecting Children from Gender Mutilation Act, which was proposed this week by Tennessee’s Republican majority leaders William Lamberth and Jack Johnson, effectively forbids doctors from prescribing:
· puberty inhibitors,
· transgender hormones, and
· conducting gender-related procedures on kids for the purpose of medical transition.
It would also empower patients and their families to sue for monetary damages, with the courts imposing a $25,000 fine for each infraction.
“This measure is about safeguarding children,” Johnson explained. “Under no circumstances should kids be allowed to undergo irreversible elective treatments that mutilate bodily parts and impair their reproductive systems. This technique has long-term health consequences that youngsters are incapable of comprehending.”
In October, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) “paused” all gender transition procedures on children in response to a letter from Tennessee State Representatives requesting VUMC administrators to “stop any irreversible gender altering surgery on minor children.”
The reporting of youth gender clinics and “gender-affirming” care, which essentially puts children in charge of deciding the conditions of their own sex transition, has generated national awareness as well as severe ethical questions regarding the drugs supplied and surgeries performed on kids.
None of the groups in the United States who support “gender-affirming” treatment have conducted systematicassessments of the data, but arguably more “progressive” European nations such as:
· Sweden,
· Finland, and
· England have.
Following a review of the data regarding the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in the treatment of pediatric gender dysphoria, health officials in all three nations have opted to reject the “gender-affirming” strategy, concluding that the costs exceed the benefits.
Florida also adopted a rule last week preventing minors from having gender transition procedures, puberty blockers, or cross-sex medications, making it the first state medical board-enacted ban in the U.S.
“Interfering with or damaging a child’s healthy, normal reproductive organs to modify their look is highly immoral and ethically unacceptable,” Lamberth added. “Tennesseans across our state have called for swift action.”
“With the passing of House Bill 1/Senate Bill 1, Tennessee will safeguard vulnerable children who are unable to offer informed consent for adult decisions they are not prepared to make,” Lamberth continued.
The Protecting Children from Gender Mutilation Act would also provide a private right of action, allowing a minor or a minor’s parent to claim for damages if they were injured as a result of medical transition. Additionally, if a parent assisted in their child’s medical transition, it would be possible for the child to file a civil claim against that parent.
The measure would empower courts to levy a $25,000 fine per violation and the state attorney general to file a lawsuit against a healthcare practitioner who intentionally violated the law within 20 years of the violation. The proposed measure would force the state attorney general to create a system for reporting legal infractions.
The measure includes an exemption for infants born with chromosomal abnormalities or congenital problems that result in developing sex conditions to receive hormones and/or procedures. The 113th Tennessee General Assembly will meet on January 10, 2023.

Twitter Corrected 'Grave Mistake' Banning Trump:
Twitter's ban on then President Donald Trump after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters was a "grave mistake" that had to be corrected, CEO Elon Musk said Friday, although he also stated that incitement to violence would continue to be prohibited on Twitter.
"I'm fine with Trump not tweeting," Musk tweeted. "The important thing is that Twitter correct a grave mistake in banning his account, despite no violation of the law or terms of service. "De-platforming a sitting president undermined public trust in Twitter for half of America."
In another thread, Musk vowed to support Ron DeSantis in 2024 if the Florida governor, who recently coasted to a second term, were to run for president.
Last week, Musk announced the reactivation of Trump's account after a slim majority voted in a Twitter poll in favor of reinstating Trump, who said, however, he had no interest in returning to Twitter. He added he would stick with his own social media site Truth Social, the app developed by Trump Media & Technology Group.
Republican Trump, who 11 days ago announced he was running for election again in 2024, was banned Jan. 8, 2021, from Twitter under its previous owners.
At the time, Twitter said it permanently suspended him because of the risk of further incitement of violence following the storming of the Capitol. An Economic Disaster May Have Just Hit China
According to The Epoch Times, China’s economy is beginning to show signs of faltering in October as retail sales fell for the first time in five months and factory output grew at a slower-than-expected rate.
During the month of October, retail sales in China fell by 0.5 percent after rising by 2.5 percent in September, marking the first decline in retail sales since May when it fell by 6.7 percent. Meanwhile, China’s industrial production only expanded by 5 percent from last year, less than the 5.2 percent growth expected.
In September, industrial production expanded by 6.3 percent, the fastest growth rate in seven months. China’s economy has been dealing with a property downturn and the ongoing COVID restrictions that have further dampened its economy. Last month, COVID outbreaks expanded throughout mainland China, disrupting many sectors, including the restaurant industry.
During a press conference, National Bureau of Statistics spokesman Fu Linghui admitted that China’s COVID containment policies were placing enormous pressure on the country’s economy.
On top of that:
1. shrinking demand,
2. supply disruptions, and
3. weakening expectations
have added more pressure on economic operations, Fu said.
Bloomberg’s China economist Eric Zhu reported that China’s Zero COVID policy and the sinking property market “have made the recovery increasingly vulnerable, especially now that exports are contracting.”
Zhu reported that China’s recent policy shifts are “unlikely to turn the tide” any time soon.
The stress on China’s property sector is due to Beijing’s attempt to curtail excessive borrowing. Earlier this month, financial regulators unveiled a 16-point plan geared toward rescuing the property sector.
Property developers will now be permitted to access pre-sale housing funds, a move that is expected to ease the industry’s liquidity crunch.
In the annual report from the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai last month, only 55 percent of companies expressed optimism or slight optimism about the 5-year business outlook in China, a 23-point decline from last year’s report.

Facebook and Twitter went into overdrive. The story was banned from being shared on Facebook. Twitter labeled the laptop material as “hacking” — because the definition of hacking involves leaving a laptop at a repairer, refusing to pay for the repair costs, and having the proprietor seize possession — and barred any connections to the NY Post piece from being shared on the platform.
