Which Kind of Customer-Centric are You?

The greatest companies are the ones with the happiest customers.

To create happy customers, you need to be customer-centric.

 

Every company believes they are customer-centric. But while a great company keeps the happiness of their customer in the center of their thoughts, the average company puts their customer in the center of the cross-hairs of a rifle scope.

1.      Great companies ask, “How can we give our customers the buying experience that they would prefer?” They work at removing the friction from the customer experience.

2.      Average companies ask, “How can we get our customers to give us more money, more often?” Average companies tell their marketing teams, “Sales is just a numbers game. Bring us twice as many leads and we’ll make twice as many sales. You bring’em in. We’ll close’em.”

 

But no matter what those marketing teams do, a decreasing number of people will respond to their ads. A negative customer experience drives customers away faster than marketing can bring them in.

SUBJECT: Pricing Reflection — Serving the Everyday Working American


Team,

Today I had a realization around some of our pricing. I’m all for setting prices that protect our margins and keep the business strong – but I’m equally committed to making sure we have price point items that the everyday working American can actually afford.

 

Let’s take a simple example: a toilet. Right now, most of our toilet installs are priced over $1,000. If we assume the median household income is $85,000, divided over 26 pre-tax paychecks, that’s $3,269 per check. A $1,000 toilet install is over 30% of that paycheck. That’s significant.

 

We need to remember who we’re here to serve – the nurse, the police officer, the office worker, the firefighter. These are people raising families, keeping their homes together, and doing the best they can. We cannot price them out of basic service. If we do, we risk not only losing today’s job – but any future relationship with that customer.

 

Let me be clear: I’m not trying to run a low-margin business.

But I do want to make sure we have real options for real people. Today’s pricing structure on some of these essential services is a barrier – not just to customers, but to our own techs who are trying to present them.

 

Because of this realization, I immediately asked Jacob to find a toilet that we could install at a price point of $699. Well, guess what – we found one today. And we’re bringing it in and adding it to the price book at $649.

 

This one change will give our team more confidence to present a basic toilet option. What I’ve heard from Will – and it’s been consistent – is that this has been a never-ending battle. Technicians don’t feel comfortable presenting a $1,000 toilet to customers, especially when many of them wouldn’t pay that themselves. That lack of confidence translates to lower conversions and frustrated customers.

 

This reminds me of what we went through in HVAC when we had no system options below $15,000. We lost installs constantly – not because we weren’t good, but because we didn’t have a simple, no-frills option for people who just needed heating and air. Once we corrected that, we started closing more jobs and rebuilding our pipeline.

 

We need to apply that same logic here. During times like this, let’s price effectively so we can keep building our customer base and generate revenue day by day. When the tide turns – and it will – we can always maximize margin percentage where appropriate.

 

There’s an opportunity here. We can maintain strong margins where they make sense – but also have a few key products that are accessible. That builds trust, drives volume, and keeps us connected to the people we serve.

 

Let’s make sure we’re building a business that works for our margins and for our community.

The average company hunts for customers, targets customers, and closes customers.

Paul’s statement is one of the most radical declarations made by a disciple of Jesus Christ. Living and dying were equal in Paul’s estimation. His confidence rested in believing that whatever happened was God’s best for him because the Lord is aware of and intimately involved in every detail of life, no matter how difficult.

 

Unfortunately, many Christians worship a distorted version of God who isn’t involved in the ugly stuff. Certainly, He is present in the good, but their confidence fades when the bad arrives.

 

The Bible never says your faith won’t be challenged, but your mindset will become like Paul's when you believe that a good God is in control. Until then, like Elijah, you can expect to vacillate between doubt and belief regarding God’s care for you.

 

Elijah defeated 450 prophets of Baal, yet the great prophet ran from one enraged queen. He hid in a cave until God said, “What are you doing here? Go stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And God sent a strong and great wind, an earthquake, and a fire. But it wasn’t until Elijah heard God’s still, small voice that he understood God’s ways are not always visible or dramatic—yet He is always working for our good. God doesn’t create the bad but will use it to bring about good because goodness is His nature.

 

Dear saint, I urge you to default to God’s unchanging nature if you are unsure of the present or future. When you believe God is in the details, worry dissipates, and you become unstoppable.

Canada Minute: Issue 23 

Canada Minute is your weekly one-minute summary of Canadian politics, brought to you every Monday by the team behind British Columbia Minute, Alberta Minute, Saskatchewan Minute, and Manitoba Minute.

 This Week In Canada: 

· New legislation, Bill C-3, proposes to amend Canada’s Citizenship Act by extending citizenship-by-descent beyond the first generation. Currently, Canadian citizens born abroad cannot pass citizenship to children also born outside Canada, but the new bill would allow this if the parent has lived in Canada for at least three years before the child’s birth.


The change reverses a previous rule introduced under former Prime Minister Stephen Harper and follows a court ruling that deemed the first-generation limit unconstitutional. Immigration lawyers support the bill, noting it addresses past gaps and could recognize many more Canadians worldwide, including descendants of historic Canadian citizens.


However, there are concerns about Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s ability to handle a potential surge in applications amid an existing backlog of over 760,000 cases.


· But, while citizenship may become easier, seeking asylum in Canada will not. Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab is defending Bill C-2, the Strong Borders Act, which grants the government broad powers including mass cancellation of immigration documents and imposes strict deadlines on asylum claims. The bill requires asylum seekers entering Canada irregularly to apply within 14 days and sets a one-year limit for all asylum claims, aiming to improve efficiency and protect Canadian sovereignty.


However, refugee advocates warn these limits may unfairly exclude legitimate asylum seekers facing changing dangers in their home countries. Critics also caution that restricting asylum applications could increase pressure on the already backlogged Federal Court system.


The Migrant Rights Network raised concerns that mass cancellation powers could lead to large-scale deportations. The government insists that such cancellations would only occur in exceptional circumstances and require cabinet approval. The bill is moving through Parliament, with further study and debate expected soon.


  • · Also contained within the Strong Borders bill are major reforms to financial crime laws, including banning businesses outside of financial institutions from accepting cash payments over $10,000 to help combat money laundering. The legislation also significantly raises fines for anti-money-laundering violations, with penalties reaching up to $20 million for organizations. The reforms are timed ahead of an international evaluation by the Financial Action Task Force, which monitors countries’ efforts against financial crime.


  • · The recent First Ministers meeting in Saskatoon was described by some Premiers as the most productive in years, with optimism about advancing “nation-building projects.” Discussions included potential oil pipeline projects tied to broader energy and trade corridors, with an emphasis on balancing development with decarbonization efforts. But, as usual, no specific details came to light. The meeting also highlighted significant disagreements over pipeline development, particularly between Alberta and British Columbia. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith called for lifting the tanker ban and building a new pipeline to the north coast, linking it to carbon capture plans for the oilsands, while BC’s David Eby prefers maximizing the existing Trans-Mountain pipeline capacity and focusing on clean energy and critical mineral projects instead. BC emphasized supporting "shovel-ready" infrastructure like the North Coast Transmission Line rather than theoretical pipeline projects. Despite tensions, there was consensus on developing an economic corridor connecting western ports and northern infrastructure to improve interprovincial trade and export capacity.


  • · Prime Minister Mark Carney says he is determined to pass the “One Canadian Economy” legislation before the summer parliamentary break, or have MPs sit through the summer to get it done. The bill aims to fast-track major projects considered in the national interest, such as highways, pipelines, ports, and critical minerals, by focusing on a few key proposals and simplifying approvals. Five criteria will guide project selection, including economic benefit, Indigenous interests, clean growth, and the likelihood of success. To streamline processes, a new major projects office will coordinate reviews and include an Indigenous Advisory Council. While the government promises consultation with provinces and Indigenous peoples, some First Nations remain concerned about the pace and potential impacts on treaty rights. The legislation also targets removing federal barriers to internal trade and labour mobility to boost the economy.


  • · Looking beyond domestic politics, Prime Minister Mark Carney and US President Donald Trump are engaged in private talks to reach a trade deal and lift tariffs before their meeting at the upcoming G7 summit in Alberta. The discussions focus on resolving the ongoing trade conflict triggered by the US imposing and recently doubling tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum. While no public updates have been released, Canada is preparing retaliatory measures if negotiations fail. Canadian officials, including Industry Minister Mélanie Joly, have emphasized that these negotiations won’t be conducted publicly. The tariffs have significantly hurt Canadian exports, which dropped sharply in April, worsening the trade deficit. Canadian industry groups and provincial leaders are pressing for swift countermeasures if an agreement is not reached soon.


  • · A Liberal MP from Surrey, BC, Sukh Dhaliwal, plans to raise concerns with Prime Minister Mark Carney about inviting India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the upcoming G7 summit in Alberta. Dhaliwal has received many messages from constituents worried about their safety and justice related to the 2023 killing of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which Canada has linked to the Indian government. Despite these concerns, Carney defended the invitation, citing India’s importance in global supply chains and saying other G7 countries were consulted. The World Sikh Organization condemned the visit, calling it a betrayal, while some political leaders support working with India on security and trade. Dhaliwal urges Modi’s government to commit to non-interference in Canadian affairs and cooperate fully in the investigation into Nijjar’s death. The situation remains sensitive, with legal proceedings ongoing and diplomatic tensions unresolved.


  • · And, in other foreign relations news, Prime Minister Mark Carney and Chinese Premier Li Qiang have agreed to establish regular communication channels between Canada and China. During their discussion, both leaders also committed to collaborating on addressing the fentanyl crisis. The two countries are currently engaged in a trade dispute, with China imposing tariffs on Canadian agricultural products like canola, peas, and seafood in response to Canadian tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, steel, and aluminum. Carney raised concerns about how these trade tensions affect Canadian agriculture and seafood exports. The Canadian government is actively working to remove the Chinese tariffs on these products.

Judy Note: I have been posting about the TRB “Trump Gold Products” Scam (See #Y of this Update) and would like to point out that these products were very different from the present Trump Bitcoin Meta Cards (TBC Cards) and Bitcoin Bills being promoted by Trump, Musk, Julian Assange, Tucker Carlson and other honorable people. The TRB Scam was run by the Cabal, hundreds have lost thousands of dollars through it and it was presently under investigation by the New York Police and Kash Patel’s FBI. As I understand it, the Trump Bitcoin Meta Cards (TBC Cards) and Bitcoin Bills were going up in value while being released in tandem with the new gold-backed US Note to instigate the gold/asset-backed Global Currency Reset.

It was my understanding that Redemption Centers could give you a higher rate on exchange of your currencies than could a bank. The much higher Dinar Contract rate was only available at a Redemption Center. Zim could only be redeemed at a Redemption Center, not at a bank.
