No one delights in standing in a slow-moving line or sitting beside the phone until the doctor calls, but waiting is a part of life.


Yet the very act runs contrary to our natural inclination or desire. And waiting can wreak havoc on our emotions unless we discipline ourselves to “wait patiently for the Lord.”The Hebrew word “wait” means to bind together by weaving and twisting; to become one. As we wait, the Holy Spirit will weave our wills into God’s until His desire becomes ours. The longer the wait, the clearer we’ll see, and the simpler things will become as He brings them into focus.


Patient waiting has a way of separating us from the ways of the world by driving us to look to Him alone. The Lord is ready to answer at precisely the right moment, but our temptation is to scheme, manipulate, throw money at it, or view others as an answer to the situation. Trying to concoct our own plans instead of allowing God to speak and move is a recipe for disaster.

Perhaps you’ve prayed for direction, provision, a future spouse, or physical healing for days, months, or even years, causing you to question, How much longer, Lord? The answer and God’s timing are according to His sovereign, eternal purpose of creating a dynamic, disciplined, and enduring faith deep within your soul. Ecclesiastes 3:11 promises that God makes everything beautiful in its time. Why not wait as He does it?

Ottawa Targets Juno News: Criminal Probe Into Our Report on Liberal Candidate

Facing a potential criminal charge under a contested election speech law after our investigation into Liberal candidate, we’re calling on Canadians to fortify our newsroom and defend press freedom.

I am under criminal investigation for my election reporting.

After Juno News published sourced reports containing allegations about Liberal candidate Thomas Keeper — and after the Liberal Party dropped him from the ballot — Ottawa moved to use section 91(1) of the Canada Elections Act against me, a law Elections Canada’s own former Chief Electoral Officer recommended repealing for being vague and chilling to political speech.

The Ontario courts even ruled the law unconstitutional, but Ottawa is still pressing ahead with a criminal investigation against me.


This is an attempt to criminalize journalism and intimidate every reporter who digs into the government’s candidates. They think they can take a swing at us because we’re not as big as the CBC — yet.

Now is the moment to change that.




What happened

We published interviews with eight people who know Keeper, including on-the-record testimony.

We sought comment repeatedly from Keeper and the Liberal Party. They didn’t engage.

Instead of answering basic vetting questions, the Liberal machine turned its sights on the press.


The law they’re trying to use

Section 91(1) is a speech offence about “false statements” relating to a candidate’s character, requiring proof of knowing falsity and intent to affect the election.

It’s been condemned as unclear, ripe for misuse, and unnecessary because defamation law already exists.

Weaponizing it against a newsroom is censorship by prosecution.


What’s at stake

Press freedom: If they can criminalize sourced reporting during an election, every tough story gets chilled.

Source protection: We will fight to protect sources under the Journalistic Sources Protection Act.

Democracy: Elections are when journalism must be most fearless — not muzzled.


How to fight back

The Liberals are betting they can wear us down, bankrupt us, and send a warning to every journalist in the country. They’re wrong.

In Russia, September 1 is more than just the start of a new school year. Known as the Day of Knowledge, it is a national ritual celebrated in every town and city.

On this morning, schoolyards turn into small festivals: Girls in crisp blouses with white ribbons in their hair, boys in freshly pressed suits, the air filled with the scent of asters and chrysanthemums brought as gifts for teachers. Parents gather with cameras, loudspeakers crackle with speeches, and the ringing of the first bell marks the beginning of the academic year.


At the center of this ritual is the school uniform.

Generations of Russians recall its look and feel – from the brown dresses and white aprons of Soviet schoolgirls to the blue jackets of boys with the emblem of an open book stitched on the sleeve. For Russians, the uniform is more than a dress code. It is part of a cultural tradition that conveys discipline, equality, and belonging. And its history, stretching back nearly two centuries, mirrors the broader story of Russian society itself.


Origins of the school uniform

The story of the school uniform begins not in Russia but in Britain. In the 16th century, Christ’s Hospital, a charitable school for orphans and children from poor families, introduced a distinctive Tudor-style outfit: Long blue coats, pleated skirts for girls, and breeches for boys. In England, uniform was associated with poverty and charity – clothing meant to signal modest means.

When the idea crossed into Russia, it was transformed. In 1834, Tsar Nicholas I, a monarch with a passion for order and discipline, approved the ‘Regulations on Civil Uniforms’. From that moment, not only state officials but also students at gymnasiums and lyceums were required to wear prescribed dress.


Boys appeared in dark-green tunics with blue collars, gold or silver trim, and matching caps; girls, as female education expanded, wore modest long brown dresses with aprons – black for everyday use, white for festive occasions.

Russia’s Tsarist-era school uniform

The Russian school uniform was modeled on military attire and carried a different symbolism than in Britain. Rather than signaling poverty, it marked status. Only families who were wealthy enough could send their children to gymnasiums, and the uniform became a visible badge of belonging to the educated class.


By the late 19th century, green jackets gave way to dark blue, ornate standing collars alternated with simpler turn-down styles, and gymnasium boys were mockingly nicknamed ‘blue beef’ for their dark-blue coats. Girls’ uniforms, though less strictly regulated, also developed traditions: Younger pupils wore darker shades, older ones lighter, a hierarchy of colors preserved at elite institutions like the Smolny Institute.


By the 1880s, the student cap with a leather visor and emblem made it possible to tell at a glance which school a boy attended. And although daily wear grew more practical – gymnasts’ tunics or simpler woolen coats – the principle remained unchanged: The uniform was a civic version of the military coat, a lesson in discipline, and a marker of social standing.

40,000 March for Jesus in Moscow:

WATCH Thousands March in Orthodox Christian Procession in Moscow (VIDEOS, PHOTOS)

The event revives a 400-year-old tradition that was discontinued after the 1917 Revolution.

Thousands of Orthodox Christians took part in a large procession on Sunday celebrating the Council of Moscow Saints, a Russian Orthodox Church feast honoring the saints of Moscow. The event marks the revival of a tradition that was discontinued after the Russian Revolution in 1917.

The march was led by Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, and joined by clergy from the Moscow diocese, monastic communities, and lay believers. Organizers estimated that about 40,000 people took part.

Participants came from across Russia and also the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Italy, and other countries. The march began at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in central Moscow and proceeded to the Novodevichy Convent 6km away.

Videos shared online showed clergy and worshippers carrying colorful banners depicting saints, with crowds chanting the traditional “Christ is risen” and choirs responding “Truly He is risen.”

Many sang church hymns as Muscovites lined the streets to watch the procession.

The procession was preceded by a service celebrated by Patriarch Kirill at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Patriarch said the march underscored Moscow’s role as a capital of Orthodoxy and expressed hope it would restore an ancient tradition.

 

“Moscow is a truly Orthodox capital of our homeland,” he told reporters after the service. “On the one hand, it is a city open to our brothers from other religions, recognizing their contribution to our common history, but at the same time it is a city that will never renounce its Christian heritage.”

The procession honors the historic transfer of the Smolensk Icon of the Holy Mother of God from the Kremlin’s Annunciation Cathedral to the Novodevichy Convent, which was founded by Grand Duke Vasily III after the capture of Smolensk in 1525. An annual march was established in memory of the icon transfer and continued for nearly four centuries until the Russian Revolution.
