 What the First Word of Genesis Actually Says in Hebrew

You've read Genesis 1:1 a hundred times. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Seven familiar English words you stopped really reading years ago. But the verse was never written in English — and the very first word is hiding something almost no English Bible has ever shown you.


In this study we slow down and read the opening line of the Bible in the language it was actually carved in: ancient Hebrew, over three thousand years ago. We take just the first three words — Bereshit, Bara, Elohim — and discover that they are quietly telling a story so large that the rest of Scripture spends sixty-five more books unpacking it.


A firstfruit. A creation out of nothing. A God who is one, and yet somehow a "we." A name standing at the front of everything, holding the door open the whole time. This is not a code or a secret trick. It is what the text has been saying all along — and once you've seen the person standing at the head of creation, you cannot un-see him. You will read the whole Bible differently.

Keith Wilson takes Alberta independence campaign to the next level

The Freedom Convoy lawyer has formally entered the political arena with a new third-party advertiser aimed at advancing Alberta sovereignty ahead of a potential referendum debate.


Constitutional lawyer Keith Wilson has spent years arguing that Alberta's frustrations with Confederation cannot be solved through political reforms alone. Now, he is taking that argument directly to Albertans.

Wilson, best known for representing Freedom Convoy organizers, recently launched a registered third-party advertiser dedicated to advancing Alberta independence. The initiative, launched alongside fourth-generation Alberta farmer Tanya Cuddley, comes as discussions surrounding provincial autonomy and sovereignty continue to gain momentum ahead of a potential referendum debate this fall.


Speaking in Calgary, Wilson outlined his view that Alberta's challenges stem not from a lack of policy solutions, but from a lack of constitutional authority to implement them within Canada's existing framework.

The launch also attracted significant media attention. Unlike previous coverage of the independence movement, several reporters posed detailed questions about the constitutional, economic and political implications of Alberta sovereignty.


The campaign's slogan — "Alberta's done waiting" — reflects growing frustration among some Albertans who believe decades of attempts to secure a better deal within Confederation have failed to produce meaningful change.

With the Calgary Stampede approaching and political attention expected to intensify later this year, Alberta independence advocates are preparing to make their case to voters in the months ahead.

TRUMP: 

Trump threats shake up U.S.-Iran talks in Switzerland on Deal's Details

U.S. and Iranian negotiators are in a 60-day sprint to reach an agreement on the technical details

U.S. Vice-President JD Vance said Sunday there was an opportunity to "turn over a new leaf" with Iran as the sides held talks aimed at building out the interim deal to end the war in Iran reached by the two sides last week.

But even as Vance called on Tehran to build on the moment, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to restart strikes on Iran for its support of Hezbollah militants in Lebanon or if it moved to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz.


"Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble," Trump said on social media, one of multiple provocative warnings to Iran on Sunday. "If they don't, we'll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!"

Vance and U.S. negotiators met with Iran's parliamentary Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at a Swiss mountainside resort near Lake Lucerne.


Mediators from Pakistan and Qatar were also present for the direct engagement that, according to Iranian state media, lasted about 80 minutes. The U.S. and Iranian negotiating teams also held separate private talks with Pakistani and Qatari officials.

The U.S. is looking to get Iran locked into negotiations over its nuclear program amid concerns it may be used for military purposes, which Iran denies. Vance also is pushing Tehran to commit to keeping open the Strait of Hormuz, the critical waterway through which about a fifth of world traded oil passes.


But Trump's comments from afar — he spent much of the weekend at the presidential retreat at Camp David in Maryland — appeared to threaten to derail the negotiations.

Canadian Iranians respond to the U.S.-Iran peace deal with mixed reaction

"They would do better to be careful about their statements," Ghalibaf posted on X. "Our armed forces are prepared to respond to them in a different manner. They may keep talking, it is we who act."


Iranian state media said the talks had entered a "difficult phase" and recessed after the "publication of an insulting message by the U.S. President." The Iranian delegation then met with Qatari mediators and left the negotiating site, state media said.

Despite the heated social media exchanges, an official with knowledge of the talks later told The Associated Press the Iranian delegation remained engaged in the talks and has not indicated to mediators any intention to leave. The official requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the talks.


Tehran wants spotlight on Lebanon

The on-again, off-again conflict in Lebanon between Israel and Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants continues to threaten to derail the effort for the U.S. to win concessions from Tehran on its nuclear program and keep the strait open.

"The question before us now is how much more can we accomplish together? Can we turn over a new leaf?" Vance said.

"Can we change relations in the Middle East permanently, or do we go back to doing things the old way, which is not our preference, but is certainly very much something that can happen?"

Iran's main focus during negotiations on Sunday will be the ongoing war between Israel and Lebanon, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei told Iran's state news agency on Sunday.

The framework was signed last week, and now top U.S. and Iranian negotiators are in a 60-day sprint to reach an agreement on the technical details that hold massive implications for the world economy and global security.


Israel, Hezbollah agree to ceasefire, according to regional sources

Yet only days after signing the agreement, it's being stress-tested after fighting escalated in Lebanon between Israel and the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah — and by the subsequent announcement by Iran's military that it had closed the Strait of Hormuz, the vital waterway that transits a fifth of the world's traded oil and natural gas.


Still, a renewed ceasefire in Lebanon, brokered on Saturday, appeared to be holding.

U.S. Central Command disputed Iran's claim that it had once again shuttered the Strait of Hormuz and said U.S. forces continued to monitor the situation to ensure traffic continues to flow through the waterway. Vance has said that millions of barrels of oil have moved through the strait in recent days.

Tehran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has declared the Strait of Hormuz shut, alleging U.S. and Israeli truce violations. The strait serves as a vital conduit for global oil and gas supplies. It also comes as Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Saturday killed at least 20 people, according to the Lebanese Civil Defence, hours after a ceasefire with Iranian-backed militia group Hezbollah took effect.






The agreement signed by Trump and Pezeshkian immediately allows Tehran to sell its oil freely and paves the way for Iran to tap into billions of dollars in assets that are currently frozen. It also calls for Iran to dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, believed to be buried under nuclear sites that were targeted in U.S. strikes last summer.

Pezeshkian, however, has insisted on Iran maintaining its right to enrich uranium

He repeated that stance on Sunday. "What is certain is that we will never back down from the right to enrich uranium, and the other side is also forced to accept it," Pezeshkian said, according to Iran's state media.

Trump, in a telephone interview Sunday with Fox News, warned that the Iranian president should watch what he says and threatened to take over the rest of the country, in comments relayed by a Fox correspondent.


Controversial deal

The vice-president was joined by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, for Sunday's talks. Witkoff and Kushner were on the ground in Switzerland ahead of Vance to begin sifting through the technical details of the nuclear talks.


Vance said he planned to be in Switzerland for just "a day or two," leaving much of the detailed negotiations to be spearheaded by Witkoff and Kushner, his role in the talks has heightened scrutiny of the vice-president at a time when he's actively considering a 2028 presidential campaign.


Trump and Vance have come under searing criticism from parts of their own party for the deal, with Republican hard-liners unfavourably likening it to a nuclear agreement signed by the Obama administration that Trump and the GOP have insisted did nothing to actually terminate Iran's nuclear program.


Analysis

Trump routinely trashes the Obama-era Iran nuclear agreement. How is his deal different?

The agreement says commercial vessels can pass through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days without a charge, but does not preclude future fees imposed by Iran. Trump made his own threat on Saturday to levy U.S. tolls on the strait if there is no deal with Iran in 60 days, insisting in a social media post that the money would be for "services rendered as the Guardian Angel to the countries of the Middle East."


The Trump administration has been working to reassure global markets that the Iran war has been merely a blip on oil prices, as Americans have complained the conflict resulted in hiking gasoline prices ahead of peak summer travel months.

Further complicating matters, neither Israel nor Hezbollah are signatories to the deal between the U.S. and Iran, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to keep his forces in southern Lebanon until any threat to Israel is eliminated. Hezbollah has refused to halt its attacks unless Israel commits to withdrawing from Lebanon.

DRIVING THE DAY

STUCK IN A RUTTE: The first round of high-level peace talks between the U.S. and Iran finally wrapped. Next up on the geopolitical crisis track: NATO chief Mark Rutte flies into D.C. tomorrow ahead of crunch talks with Donald Trump on Wednesday, two weeks out from a make-or-break NATO summit in Turkey.


It’s safe to say Rutte has his work cut out. Never has the build-up to a NATO summit been so chaotic, with the president repeatedly threatening to pull out of the alliance following the Iran war. The Truth Social posts have been brutal, with the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain all individually targeted. U.S. troop deployments to Germany and Poland were canceled without warning. Trump uses the phrase “paper tiger” whenever NATO is mentioned.


And it’s not just venting: Secretary of State Marco Rubio — generally seen in Europe as the grown-up around the Cabinet table — has been equally forthright. “I know why NATO is good for Europe, but why is NATO good for America?” he asked rhetorically last month. Rubio said he was “very upset” by NATO allies’ refusal to let U.S. aircraft use their bases for bombing raids, and bluntly questioned why America remains in the alliance at all.


Last time Rutte visited D.C. in April, it didn't go well.

Making his Mark: “For Rutte, this meeting will be yet another major test of his ability to keep NATO together — and his last chance to make the case for the alliance’s worth ahead of next month’s summit," POLITICO’s NATO reporter in Brussels, Victor Jack, writes in. “Trump’s fury over allies’ response to the Iran war is still fresh, and Defense


Secretary Pete Hegseth last week warned Washington would reevaluate its troop presence — and NATO funding commitments — for European countries not acting as model allies. Rutte will have a lot on his plate to overcome those splits.”


Hegseth’s speech to NATO defense chiefs in Brussels last Thursday showed that four months on, the transatlantic divisions remain raw. Hegseth accused his NATO counterparts of “shameful” behavior which “put America’s sons and daughters — our sons and daughters — at risk.” Hegseth also warned he would be keeping a “close eye” on NATO allies failing to deliver on their spending commitments … and as my POLITICO colleagues set out, there are plenty of offenders to choose from.

There are also at least three reasons for Europeans to be cheerful ahead of the summit in Ankara on July 7-8.


1.   Trump confirmed Friday he’ll definitely attend, on board his new Qatari-gifted Air Force One jet. (Some European officials feared he might pull out.)


2.   There’s no one better placed than Rutte to mount a charm offensive. He’s famously nicknamed “The Trump Whisperer” in Europe, largely because he’s shown a capacity to prostrate himself before the president far beyond that of any elected European leader. (The fact Rutte has no angry voters to answer to probably explains why.) His “Daddy” nickname for Trump, not to mention his fawning text messages to the president, have turned plenty of stomachs in Europe — but are also key reasons why Trump holds him in high regard. There has been no dramatic falling-out with Rutte, as there was with Keir Starmer, Giorgia Meloni, Friedrich Merz and others.


3.   Notwithstanding the above, last week’s G7 summit in France went pretty well, at least by the standards of previous world summits attended by Trump. (Who could forget this one? Or this one? Or this picture?) “Europeans at the G7 were generally pleased with the absence of any drama in France — and even more pleased with Trump toughening his language on Russia in a joint declaration,” POLITICO’s senior foreign and defense correspondent Esther Webber texts in from London. “The hope is it lays the groundwork for an extremely low-key NATO summit after Rutte managed to rally partners round the [latest NATO spending] target and pacify ‘Daddy’ last year.”

Ukraine on the brain: The shift from Trump on Ukraine at the G7 was such that European leaders are actually starting to feel optimistic again. “Diplomats and U.S. officials tell me Trump and his team have warmed to the idea that Ukraine is doing better on the battlefield and are looking at Kyiv more positively,” POLITICO’s diplomatic correspondent Felicia Schwartz tells Playbook. “Rutte must now harness his world-famous ability to charm Trump to deliver badly-needed air defense and long-range strike capabilities. Ukraine is in a favorable place, but that will depend on Trump not losing interest or seeking to strike a quick deal.”


Rutte will also plead for a little more notice from Washington regarding any further steps to reduce the U.S. military presence in Europe. “Washington’s allies understand the U.S. wants to rethink its military footprint in Europe,” Felicia says, “but want the Trump administration to coordinate such actions — rather than continue its pattern of piecemeal declarations and surprise announcements.”


Phase 2: After spending Wednesday locked in talks with Trump, Rutte will spend Thursday seeking to win hearts and minds on the Hill. (And with good reason: Congress would need to approve any future financial support for Ukraine, and also has the power to block any attempt to end or significantly water-down U.S. commitment to NATO.) After meeting congressional leaders, Rutte will join an event at the Atlantic Council; and at least one broadcast interview is expected.


But on the whole, Rutte is speaking to an audience of one. “Rutte needs to come to Trump with a compelling case that NATO allies are meeting their spending commitments and that they did not leave him in the lurch during the Iran war,” Felicia says. “I expect he will come to Trump with a presentation of all of the ways that NATO countries will help secure the Strait of Hormuz … so long as the fighting with Iran doesn’t break out again.”

ENDORSEMENT WATCH: Planned Parenthood’s political arm is endorsing Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner in his attempt to knock off Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), POLITICO’s Jessica Piper scoops. Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Alexis McGill Johnson will appear alongside Platner at an event in Portland this afternoon. The group previously backed Platner’s Democratic primary opponent, Gov. Janet Mills, just weeks before Mills suspended her campaign.

The endorsement comes as Democrats seized on recent comments from Collins that she doesn’t regret her vote to confirm Justice Brett Kavanaugh, one of the justices responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade. Planned Parenthood backing Platner is far from an end-all — the group also endorsed Collins’ 2020 opponent, Sara Gideon — but Maine Democrats argue Collins is more vulnerable on reproductive rights issues since the end of Roe.

· From 30,000 feet: Though abortion is on the back burner in many congressional races, Democrats hope ballot measures in four states will make the issue top of mind and put vulnerable Republicans in an awkward spot, POLITICO’s Alice Miranda Ollstein reports. They’re particularly focused on Virginia and Nevada.


POLL POSITION: Iowa Democratic Senate nominee Josh Turek has a narrow lead over GOP rival Ashley Hinson of 47 percent to 45 percent in a new internal poll conducted by Global Strategy Group of likely general-election voters, Playbook’s Adam Wren scoops. Some Republicans have acknowledged a concern about Iowa. “There are some issues there that we got to deal with — the biggest one is trade — trade and tariffs,” said a Republican close to the White House, granted anonymity to speak candidly about the obstacles. See the polling memo


BET ON IT: The rise of prediction markets is so fresh that many people don’t have clear views on it yet, POLITICO’s Declan Harty reports from the latest POLITICO Poll results. Twenty-nine percent of Americans view it as a negative trend and 19 percent say positive, but a majority say it’s neither or don’t know. Fifty-three percent of Americans think sports betting should be legal. But there’s much higher opposition to bets on politics and news: Sixty-four percent think bets on terrorism should be illegal, 57 percent for war and a 44 percent plurality for elections.

While VP JD Vance was at the talks, Trump went online to step up fresh threats of restarting the war against Iran if Hezbollah didn’t stop firing at Israel. As for the Strait of Hormuz, Trump warned Tehran on Fox News, “close it and you won’t have a country.” Iran’s top negotiator shot back, “Our armed forces are prepared to respond.” Despite all the fractures, the day ended with mediators touting new agreements on lines of communication. · The fallout: Oil prices ticked back up on the fresh tensions, and the latest CBS polling shows Americans broadly supportive of ending the war — but also in agreement that the U.S. hasn’t achieved its aims in the conflict. 


2. DREAM DEFERRED: Is the Trump administration chipping away at the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program? Advocates and lawmakers are increasingly worried that USCIS is slow-rolling approvals to extend Dreamers’ legal protections and work permits, POLITICO’s Eric Bazail-Eimil reports. The administration says more thorough vetting is a good thing.


3. MUCK READ: Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn began investigating Trump’s commutation of fraudster David Gentile’s sentence before political appointees in the administration killed the probe, NYT’s Ken Vogel and colleagues scooped. At issue was whether Gentile paid millions to advocate for his clemency, including to Rev. Frank Mann, who denies involvement. Once reporters started asking about the probe, Aakash Singh raised concerns and the call came down to drop it.


4. KNOWING DAN MORAFF: “The ‘Mad Scientist’ Behind Graham Platner’s Scandal-Plagued Rise,” by WSJ’s Tarini Parti and Aaron Zitner: “A thorough background check of a Senate candidate, which has become standard practice in key races, can take several weeks and cost roughly $20,000 or a monthly retainer. Moraff asked for an expedited, cheaper review to be done within days … It is the latest example of the mix of ambition, bravado and corner-cutting that Moraff has shown in a political career that has had a measure of success in elevating populist, Bernie Sanders-style candidates but also a trail of missteps that has left some political partners feeling betrayed.”


5. 2028 WATCH: Not many Democrats want anything to do with Joe Biden since 2024, but California Gov. Gavin Newsom has emerged as a lonely defender, Axios’ Alex Thompson reports. That could set him apart from the pack in a 2028 presidential primary, particularly with Black and Latino voters who still give Biden higher marks — though it comes with plenty of obvious risks too. Biden world is higher on Newsom than other potential contenders, including Kamala Harris, per Axios.

TALK OF THE TOWN

REFLECTED GLORY — Trump said repairs to the newly refurbished, quickly struggling Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will start “immediately.” He also blamed vandals — “SICK, DERANGED PEOPLE,” to be precise — for the problems, and several people have been arrested or cited on such charges. But it’s unclear whether there’s evidence there for such accusations. One of the people charged, former Olympian David Hearn, told the Daily Mail’s Eliot Force that the Trump administration is lying: He claims he simply reached down to touch a “loose flap of coating” because he was “curious as a concerned citizen” — and got booked.

Meanwhile, the Washington Examiner’s Rob Crilly found a dead duckling at the pool.

The reality that the Democrats refuse to admit is that violent crime has dropped in all six of those states that made the decision to loosen their gun laws.

It may seem contradictory, but as more Americans opt to pack heat the crime rates are slowly going down.

Estimates indicate there are between 400 and 500 million privately owned firearms in the United States. Because there are roughly 334 million residents, this means there are approximately 1.5 guns for every person in the country, or nearly two guns for every adult. When confronting those sorts of astonishing numbers, it would do well to remember the dictum: When guns are outlawed in the US, only the outlaws will have them.

Linda and I, who had in 1997, retired and became registered Canadian full time residents in Mexico, (Expats) had become concerned about the growing drug cartel situation, decided to permanently leave Mexico, and permanently move across the Rio Grande River (US Border) into south Texas. We did this after the turn of the year 2000.


FYI, Linda and I, as a Corporate Exec., had travelled all over the USA - but never to Texas. We had heard rumours for years that Texas was different in a good way, so we decided to live there in the 6 months (180 day per year limit) USA non citizen requirement.


Background info: - the Ontario Canadian statistic for the percentage of the population who committed crimes was about 3%... 10 years later it had risen to 5% - in Texas, in 2001, the comparable percentage who committed crimes was about 1%, and when we stopped living there for 6 months (winters) about 2015, it had risen to about 1.5%.


During that entire period of time, I often attended advertised sales of guns, hand grenades etc. that were on open display like apples or oranges in a fruit stand. There were literally no fights in the streets, people were civil to one another, and if you were a criminal in Texas that decided to break into someone's home to rob them, which was unheard of ... why, because of the understanding of the proven fact that guns don't kill people, evil minded people with guns kill people.


The State laws for Texas, such as "Castle Law", permit a homeowner to protect his/her family from illegal harm. The Texas newspapers love printing stories about the very, very, few idiotic criminals who try and are usually killed or captured.


You are celebrated in Texas for stopping a criminal act. Everyone is encouraged to have guns, and you as a criminal need to be about 30 bricks short of a full load to even try to go against their laws, as it is assumed that everybody is "packing!"


The end result for Linda and I for (6 months of the year) would feel safer in Texas, than we ever did at home in Canada. We drove from Canada to Texas, entering I-35 into Texarkana, we would always look at each other and say "we are home again".

In Texas, one of their most popular sayings is: "Don't mess with Texas" and their laws, rules etc. are seriously enforced. End result is a peaceful, civilized population.


Now, let's compare Canada ... same time periods - crime rate percentage in Canada rises from 3 to 5 %. If someone breaks into your home, and you harm them while protecting your family, they are of course arrested and so are you ... along with a lawsuit suing you for umpteen dollars of damage to the intruder. I have seen people end up losing their homes defending "their Castles".


Two different scenarios, two different outcomes for the respective residents. 

Our Bible determines that during our lifetimes, we have a "choice" and which of the above two comparative lifestyles would most choose?

a) - the liberalized lie that attempts to teach a Canadian population that "guns kill people" and promote "population disarmament"

or

b) - something that is tried and true ... such asTexas has enjoyed for more than 100 years.

The choice is always made in the privacy of the voting booth.

If only Canadians knew - that "history should teach us what NOT to do, not necessarily WHAT to do!"

Sun. 21 June 2026 Election Fraud Arizona: Maricopa County officials deleted 2020 ELECTION RESULTS and key databases from the Election Management System the day before the subpoenaed equipment was handed over to the Arizona Senate’s forensic audit team. Arizona canvassers also confirmed a MASSIVE 170,000 registered voters legitimate votes disappeared or were not counted, lost, or stolen in Maricopa County’s 2020 election results. Another 90,000 ballots were allegedly cast by non-existent, deceased, or completely ineligible voters with NO matching records in the voter rolls. Estimates range from at least 350k to 500k total fraudulent votes in the Arizona 2020 election.

Count Cherep-Spiridovitch, a tsarist general who battled the Bolsheviks in the Russian Revolution, published a book in 1926 entitled The Secret World Government, which shows how the Rothschilds’ plan for world tyranny dominates modern history. He cites an interview with German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck in 1876, in which Bismarck explained that the Rothschilds, who already controlled Europe, were afraid, in the middle of the 19th century, that the United States would become independent of them if it remained one nation.

 

The plan, therefore, was to divide the United States between England (controlled by Lionel Rothschild) and France (controlled by James Rothschild). France was to take over the South while British Canada annexed the defeated North.

 

As a preparatory move, in 1863, France and Spain invaded Mexico with 30,000 troops. Britain, France and other European powers were ready to snuff out the young republic but were deterred by Russia, the only European nation not in the Rothschilds’ thrall.

 

Tsar Alexander II sent his fleets to New York and San Francisco and declared that an attack on the United States was an attack on Russia.

 

Meanwhile the U.S. Congress, stimulated by Lincoln, created “greenback” dollars to finance the war and escape indebtedness to the foreign financiers. “They [the Rothschilds] understood at once that the United States would escape their grip,” Bismarck said. “The death of Lincoln was resolved upon.
