As the New Year begins and the old year passes, there are probably things you look back on and wish you had done differently. Maybe you could have offered to help a neighbour, or you could have bought lunch for the homeless man on the corner, or maybe you wished you had been more encouraging. Maybe you wished you had been the first to apologize or waited to make a major life decision. Maybe you wanted to be more active or take better care of your health.
Perhaps you feel as if you have failed, and you don’t think you can start over or have a new beginning. Each day God gives us new mercies. As Lamentations 3:22-24 says, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’” He reminds us that it is never too late to start following Him or to begin again. Every day, He gives us a fresh start in life.
A new year allows us the ability to re-evaluate what our priorities are, as well as begin something new. New beginnings instill within us a hope and an expectation for what is to come. Don’t get stuck on where you were or what has happened in the past. Instead, press into Jesus and look to Him as the author of your faith. He is the one who cleanses you from your sin and makes you whole again.
God is for you! In this New Year, ask the Lord to give you a fresh start and to grow you in your faith over this next year. Allow God to change and transform your life this year. Everyone in Christ is a new creation because He makes all things new.

How Canada Locked the U.S. Out of Critical Minerals

The analysis explores how trade policies from the Trump era helped shape this moment, why critical minerals are now a geopolitical weapon, and what this shift means for U.S. economic and national security.

Canadian Tariffs Will Undermine U.S. Minerals Security
As the United States races to reduce its reliance on China for minerals vital for national, economic, and energy security, tariffs with Canada may drastically undermine these efforts. Canada is the biggest source of the United States' mineral imports, providing key sources of uranium, aluminum, nickel, steel, copper, and niobium. To put it into perspective, in 2023, Canada accounted for $47 billion of the United States' mineral imports. China followed with $28.3 billion. The consequences of tariffs would be particularly profound for the defense industry, nuclear energy, and heavy manufacturing.
A 25 percent tariff on Canadian mineral imports could cost U.S. off-takers an additional $11.75 billion—a figure that would increase as base metal and uranium prices recover.
Canada would likely adopt retaliatory tariffs, as it did when Trump imposed Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada in 2018 and 2020 (backing down both times). In 2023, the United States sent $30.7 billion in minerals to Canada. The retaliatory tariffs could lead Canadian firms to pay an estimated additional $7.6 billion in tariffs, encouraging them to turn to other import sources for off-take, further undermining U.S. firms.
An increase in the cost of commodities—or shortages of them—can have significant impacts on the defense, nuclear energy, and manufacturing industries at a time when the United States needs to build its capabilities.
Uranium is the feedstock for nuclear energy. The United States leads the world in nuclear energy production and has the largest number of operational nuclear reactors. However, this leadership may not last. In recent years, U.S. nuclear electricity generation has either declined or stagnated due to plant retirements and insufficient construction of new reactors. As a result, China is poised to overtake the United States in nuclear generation capacity by 2030, with 150 new reactors expected to come online between 2020 and 2035. The greatest challenge to maintaining U.S. nuclear leadership lies in securing the uranium supply.
On the defense front, China is making significant investments in munitions and acquiring high-end weapons systems and equipment at a rate of five to six times faster than the United States. China is also the world’s largest shipbuilder and has a shipbuilding capacity that is roughly 230 times larger than the United States. Undermining the cost competitiveness of mineral inputs like nickel and aluminum is likely to be a deterrent to accelerating domestic manufacturing efforts for vital defense technologies.
The impact of the tariffs would be compounded by the highly integrated nature of key supply chains. Minerals mined in the United States or Canada often move back and forth across the border as they undergo various stages of processing and manufacturing. For example, automotive parts and components can cross the borders between Canada, the United States, and Mexico up to eight times before being incorporated into the final assembly. The U.S. automotive industry employs 308,000 workers—tariffs could drastically reduce this number.
Uranium
Collaboration between the United States and Canada will be crucial for establishing a resilient, secure, and expanded uranium supply chain. Currently, uranium supply is heavily dominated by Russia and China, which together control over 50 percent of the world’s uranium enrichment capacity. This concentration poses significant risks to U.S. energy stability and national security.
Although the United States should work to increase its domestic uranium production capacity, Canada’s reserves are significantly larger—about 10 times bigger. The United States holds an estimated 59,400 tons of uranium, accounting for 1 percent of the global supply, whereas Canada possesses 588,500 tons. Additionally, Canada boasts the world’s largest deposits of high-grade uranium, with concentrations reaching up to 20 percent uranium—100 times higher than the global average.
Canada is the world’s second-largest producer and exporter of uranium, trailing only Kazakhstan. It stands as the biggest supplier of uranium to the United States, meeting approximately 25 percent of U.S. domestic demand. While Canada does not enrich its uranium, it plays a vital role by supplying essential feedstock to support the United States’ development of enrichment capabilities.
Tariffs would threaten uranium supply at a time when the United States is seeking to expand its nuclear dominance. President Trump’s executive order—Unleashing American Energy—explicitly prioritized uranium and instructed the director of the U.S. Geological Survey to consider adding uranium to its critical minerals list.
Nickel
Canada is the biggest supplier of nickel alloys, supplying roughly half of the United States’ total nickel needs. Nickel alloys are a critical input for the defense and automotive industries. The United States only has one operating nickel mine—Lundin’s Eagle Mine in Northern Michigan. However, given that the United States does not have a single completed nickel refinery, Canada is an important ally. The entirety of nickel output from Lundin’s Eagle Mine is exported to a refinery in Sudbury, Canada, which is then sold back to U.S. firms.
Nickel is a critical material in many military applications due to its strength, corrosion resistance, and ability to form superalloys. It’s a vital component in the steel alloys used in armour and defense systems for armour plating for vehicles, ships, and personnel equipment. Nickel is an important part of jet engines—nickel-based superalloys are essential in jet engines for military aircraft due to their ability to withstand high temperatures and stress, particularly turbine blades and discs.
These alloys can contain up to 50–60 percent nickel. Warships and submarines use nickel-containing stainless steel for hulls and other components to resist corrosion in water. Nickel alloys are a vital part of ammunition and weaponry. Nickel is used for missile casings and guidance systems due to their durability and high heat resistance. It’s also an important part of the energy required for defense applications—nickel is used in military-grade batteries, including nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries.
Tariffs on Canadian nickel could force U.S. companies in various industries, including defense and automotive, to turn to cheaper nickel from Indonesia, which is dominated by Chinese mining companies, including Tshingshan Holding Group, Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, and Legend Holdings Corporation. Thus, tariffs could work against U.S. government efforts to reduce reliance on China.
In 2021, Canada exported $2.6 billion in nickel to the United States. This increased slightly in 2022—Canada exported $2.8 billion in nickel and $1.04 billion—or 37.4 percent—of it to the United States. A 25 percent import tariff would mean that Canadian nickel would cost U.S. firms an additional $260 million.
There is no adequate alternative supply of nickel produced outside of China or by non-Chinese companies. Significant alternative sources have ceased operations due to their inability to compete with Chinese firms, including BHP’s operation in Australia and Glencore’s operation in New Caledonia.
Aluminum
Aluminum is used in a range of industrial, consumer, defense, and technological goods, including automobiles, airplanes, and trucks, construction, packaging, electrical transmission, and chemical and food processing equipment. High-purity aluminum is used in fighter jets, ammunition, armoured vehicles, and body armour.
A report from the Congressional Research Service notes that “The U.S. and Canadian aluminum industries are highly integrated, as each market is a major trading partner of the other across the aluminum value chain. In 2021, more than 75 [percent] of Canadian production went to the United States, while roughly half of U.S. downstream products were exported to Canada.” Export tariffs would disrupt the deeply integrated market—a tariff rate of 25 percent would cost the U.S. aluminum industry approximately $2.2 billion.
Considering that Canada is likely to impose retaliatory tariffs as it threatened in 2018 and 2020, the competitiveness of U.S. downstream products would be heavily undermined.
The United States produces less than 2 percent of the world’s primary aluminum. The United States imported more aluminum from Canada than any other country—importing $8.9 billion of raw aluminum from Canada with the United Arab Emirates as a distant second with $1.8 billion, followed by $928 million from Russia and $589 million from Argentina.
Canada is also an important ally on the smelting side, due to its abundant supply of affordable energy, which is a key factor in aluminum smelting. Canada generates a significant portion of its electricity from low-cost hydropower. Quebec is the largest aluminum-producing region in Canada, benefiting from its vast network of hydroelectric dams.
Canada’s primary aluminum smelters operate at 95 percent of industry capacity, compared to just 55 percent in the U.S. In 2023, the United States had just five primary aluminum smelters, and only two of the five worked at full capacity throughout the year. The United States has just one active smelter that outputs aluminum at military-grade quality for military aircraft, vehicles, armour, and artillery. Tariffs would threaten vital defense supply chains that utilize aluminum.
Conclusion
Tariffs and minerals are not a new issue. In May 2018, the Trump administration announced Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada at the rates of 25 percent and 10 percent, respectively. In response, Canada announced that it would impose surtaxes and similar countermeasures against up to $16.6 billion in imports of steel and aluminum from the United States.
However, acknowledging the negative impact of these tariffs, in May 2019, the United States and Canada announced that they would lift Section 232 tariffs and Canada’s retaliatory measures. In August 2020, the Trump administration announced that it would reimpose a 10 percent tariff on Canadian aluminum imports. However, they were removed a month before Canada’s counter-tariffs went into effect.
Any tariffs with Canada on minerals would have heavy consequences on defense, nuclear energy, and heavy manufacturing. Canada is a critical ally in the United States’ efforts to reduce reliance on China for critical minerals—both for feedstock and midstream processing.

The infrastructure for total childhood surveillance already exists in schools nationwide, waiting for the next crisis to justify activation, and your children will be conditioned to accept permanent monitoring as normal unless you start teaching them about privacy and liberty right now.
Take inventory of what data schools currently collect on your kids, identify alternative education options like homeschool networks or private institutions that share your values, and build relationships with other parents who will stand firm on principle when the pressure comes to comply. Start by requesting copies of all privacy policies, data collection practices, and device monitoring capabilities your school district currently employs. Document everything.
Know what apps are on school-issued devices, what permissions they require, and what data gets transmitted where. Most parents have zero idea their kid’s iPad is already tracking location history, recording screen time by app, and flagging content the district considers concerning. Next, have age-appropriate conversations with your children about why privacy matters and why constant monitoring isn’t normal or necessary.
Don’t wait until the propaganda machine tells them surveillance equals safety. Build that foundation now while you still can. Finally, research your alternatives before you need them. Identify homeschool co-ops, classical Christian schools, or other families who share your concerns about government overreach into childhood. When the system activates, you’ll need to move fast, and having those relationships and options mapped out beforehand makes all the difference between reactive panic and decisive action.

What’s happening in Iran right now?
The protests are no longer just about prices and livelihoods, but the repression of human rights and the autocratic system itself.
Since the first one staged by merchants at the Grand Bazaar on Sunday, crowds have taken to the streets of the capital and at several universities, clashing with police.
Demonstrators launched a third day of protests on Tuesday, with videos circulating online showing scores of people marching along a street in Tehran and chanting ‘Rest in peace Reza Shah’, a reference to the founder of the royal dynasty ousted in the 1979 Islamic revolution.
Footage aired on Iranian state TV on Monday showed people gathered in central Tehran chanting slogans.
Protests also broke out at the technology university in the central city of Isfahan and institutions in the cities of Yazd and Zanjan, Ilna and state-run IRNA reported.
Other clips show students and young women chanting and marching in the capital and confronting riot police, suggesting a shift in scale.
On social media, some Iranians voiced support for the protests with one, Soroosh Dadkhah, saying high prices and corruption had led people ‘to the point of explosion’ and another, Masoud Ghasemi, warning of protests spreading across the country.
The protests are the largest since a wave of demonstrations rocked the country after Mahsa Amini, 22, died in police custody following her arrest for not wearing the hijab correctly.
At the time, Iranian police responded with force, imposing an internet shutdown and violently cracking down on demonstrations with teargas and gunfire.
How has the Islamic regime responded now?
Police opened fire to protestors using teargas, as well as deploying batons on the crowds, rights groups warned.
The Grand Bazaar is understood to be under heightened security. There are also reports of arrests, heavy police presence, and parts of the area being effectively locked down.
On Tuesday,
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said he has instructed the government to listen to the ‘legitimate demands’ of protesters.
A government spokesperson said that a mechanism for dialogue would be set up to have talks with leaders of the protest movement.
‘The livelihood of my people is my daily concern,’ Pezeshkian wrote in a post on X.
He added that the government had ‘actions on the agenda to reform the monetary and banking system and preserve the purchasing power of the people’.
Is the cost of living going up in Iran?
Iran’s rial currency has lost nearly half its value against the dollar in 2025, with inflation reaching 42.5% in December in a country where unrest has repeatedly flared in recent years and which is facing US sanctions and threats of Israeli strikes.
Pezeshkian – who has less authority under Iran’s system of government than supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – met with labour leaders and made proposals to tackle the economic crisis, according to press agency Mehr.

Hospitals Have Quietly Reclassified Vaccines as ‘Biogenics’
— Injections Without Consent
A shocking whistleblower from within the hospital system has come forward with a grave warning: the term “vaccine” is quietly disappearing from medical consent forms — replaced with the broad and deceptive category of “Biologics” or “Biogenics.”
Under this new classification, patients could be injected with vaccines and other biological products without their explicit consent — even while unconscious under anesthesia.
According to the insider, new hospital and surgical consent forms now refer to a category called Biologics/Biogenics — a vague umbrella term that includes a wide range of substances and medical treatments containing living organisms or their byproducts.
What does that include? The U.S. FDA’s own list of approved Biologics/
Biogenics covers:
Vaccines
Gene therapy
Monoclonal antibodies
Whole blood and blood plasma
Blood platelets and red blood cells
Stem cells and T-cells
Growth factors
Allergenics and antitoxins
Recombinant proteins
Hormone replacement therapies (HRT)
Immunotherapies
Botox
In short, signing a consent form authorizing “Biologics/Biogenics” may give medical staff the legal right to inject or infuse you with any of these products — at their discretion. Watch:
Vaccination Without Knowledge or Consent
The whistleblower warns that the danger lies in how these new forms are written. Patients and guardians may believe they are signing standard medical consent documents — but the language now allows for broad authorization of all biological agents, including vaccines.
That means if a doctor or nurse deems it “necessary” — for example, during flu or pneumonia season — you could receive a vaccine injection without being asked or informed.
And if you are under anesthesia, you have no ability to object.
“Once you sign, you’ve essentially given permission for whatever they decide you need,” the whistleblower said. “If you’re asleep on the operating table, you won’t even know what’s being put into your body.”
The Disappearing Language of ‘Vaccine’
This change isn’t accidental. The whistleblower alleges that the shift in terminology — from “vaccine” to “biologic” — was designed to confuse patients and bypass informed consent.
By using technical regulatory language, the average person no longer realizes they are authorizing the administration of vaccines and other experimental biological materials.
Your Right to Refuse
Experts in medical ethics have long warned that true informed consent means clear disclosure of what’s being done, why it’s being done, and the risks involved.
Yet under this new framework, consent has become hidden inside legal jargon.
Patients are now being urged to carefully read every word of hospital and clinic consent forms. If you see the terms “Biologics” or “Biogenics” anywhere in the document, it may authorize the use of vaccines, gene therapies, or other living-organism-based treatments.
You have the right to refuse these authorizations in writing.
Clearly state: “I do not consent to the administration of Biologics or Biogenics.”
Obtain a hard copy of your signed refusal (especially if it was completed electronically on a tablet).
Verbally remind medical staff that you do not consent to any injections or infusions of that kind.
A Call for Vigilance
While bodily autonomy and informed consent are supposed to be fundamental human rights, the whistleblower warns that we no longer live in a world where those rights are guaranteed.
Every patient, parent, and caregiver must become their own advocate — scrutinizing every form and every line of fine print.
Because once you sign, you may be giving away the most sacred right you have — control over your own body.

New laws in Ont. Jan 1
Food and driving, living at home, and even advertising employment.
Ontario will be seeing new laws and regulations starting in the new year. From increased impaired driving fines to more vitamin D in your dairy, here’s a look at some of the most significant changes taking effect in 2026.
Ontario cracks down on impaired driving
Ontario is strengthening penalties for alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, with tougher roadside suspensions and longer look-back periods for past offences.
Young and novice drivers will face longer licence suspensions for zero-tolerance violations, while repeat offenders will be subject to mandatory treatment programs.
The changes are being introduced under the Highway Traffic Act, according to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
New pay transparency rules for job postings
Ontario employers with 25 or more workers will be required to post salary ranges in public job ads, with ranges starting at $50,000. Postings where the top end of the range exceeds $200,000 annually are exempt from this rule.
In most cases, all forms of pay must be disclosed, including bonuses, commissions, and any other non-discretionary compensation on top of the salary.
Employers must also disclose the use of artificial intelligence in hiring and notify interviewed candidates of outcomes within 45 days.
The measures amend the Employment Standards Act, 2000, according to the Ontario government.
Carbon monoxide alarm rules expand across Ontario
New Ontario Fire Code standards will require carbon monoxide alarms on every floor of a home, even those without bedrooms. Landlords and building owners will be responsible for installation, testing, and maintenance, while tenants must report issues.

The changes are aimed at reducing CO-related injuries and deaths, according to the Government of Ontario.
This rule also comes shortly after the Toronto multi-building fire that left hundreds of residents displaced due to high carbon monoxide levels burning in between the building walls.
Vitamin D levels increase in milk and margarine
Health Canada announced new regulations that will roughly double the required vitamin D content in cow’s milk and margarine and increase allowed levels in goat’s milk.
The changes are meant to address widespread vitamin D deficiency and improve bone health across Canada.
Recycling rules change in Toronto and across Ontario
Toronto will stop managing recycling for most homes as responsibility shifts to producers under Ontario’s expanded blue box program. Provincewide, more materials like black plastic containers and beverage cups will become recyclable.
