A new “discussion document” released by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada titled “Reducing emissions arising from the application of fertilizer in Canada’s agriculture sector” singles out wheat, barley and other cereal producers for emission reductions.
The report outlines a framework to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s 2020 climate plan target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the agriculture sector by 30% below 2020 levels within ten years.
“The fertilizer target’s objective is to contribute to lower GHG emissions from the agriculture sector, building on and leveraging public and private programs and initiatives,” Agriculture Canada writes. “The target applies to both direct (following fertilizer application) and indirect (from nitrogen leached from fields and volatilized to the atmosphere as ammonia) emissions from the application of fertilizer.” [Patrick Bestall]

Restaurant Sees Spike in Fake Reservations After Hosting Kavanaugh:
A Washington, D.C. steakhouse has seen a spike in fake reservations by pro-choice protestors upset it hosted Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh for dinner and later defended having him, reports Newsweek.
Kavanaugh ate dinner at Morton's Steakhouse on Wednesday night and had to exit out the back door after abortion rights protestors gathered out front when they found out he was there.
The surge in fake reservations came after Morton's defended having him on site.
"Honorable Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh and all of our other patrons at the restaurant were unduly harassed by unruly protestors while eating dinner at our Morton's restaurant," the restaurant told Politico.
"Politics, regardless of your side or views, should not trample the freedom at play of the right to congregate and eat dinner. There is a time and place for everything. Disturbing the dinner of all of our customers was an act of selfishness and void of decency."

Retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky was a former top spokesman for the Army and formerly in charge of the Army’s 101st Airborne Division. For his gallantry in Iraq, he was awarded the Silver Star – the third-highest military decoration for valor in combat.
