Thought(s) for the Day:

Texas Governor Abbott creates new National Guard force to tackle the open border ahead of expected flood of illegal immigrants:

Here is an {A-I} Summary:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has created a new National Guard special force, the Texas Tactical Border Force, ahead of an expected onslaught of illegal immigration.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has deployed a new National Guard special force, the Texas Tactical Border Force, to intercept and repel illegal immigrants attempting to enter Texas ahead of an anticipated increase in migrant numbers following the expiration of Title 42 provisions. The Republican governor has criticized President Biden's inaction on illegal immigration and is taking matters into his own hands with as many as 10,000 new forces plus another 1,2000 Texas Department of Public Safety personnel securing the border between Texas and Mexico. The programs already implemented like Operation Lone Star have seen substantial success, but projections show that without further action, up to 13,000 people could come illegally across the border every day after Title 42 provision expires.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has created a new National Guard special force, the Texas Tactical Border Force, ahead of an expected onslaught of illegal immigration, the Daily Wire reported. The Republican governor deployed them Monday in anticipation of the Title 42 provision that expires this week.

Title 42 was a Trump-era rule that allowed the U.S. to turn away border crossers over concerns about public health. That provision will now sunset on May 11 allowing all comers once again.

Now thousands more migrants per day are expected to attempt to cross the border, adding to the existing problem. President Joe Biden has done precious little to stem the tide of illegal immigration and allowed the problem to get out of control under his watch.

Abbott has slammed the president for his inaction, but now he's taking the problem into his own hands. As many as 10,000 of the new forces plus another 1,2000 Texas Department of Public Safety personnel will secure the border between Texas and Mexico in the wake of the "chaos" created by the rule's expiration.

"They will be deployed to hot spots along the border to intercept to repel and to turn back migrants who are trying to enter Texas illegally," Abbott told reporters during a news conference. He further explained that the National Guard special forces will utilize boats, aircraft, riot gear, and night vision equipment to secure more than two dozen crossings.

"There are 29 places you can cross into the U.S. legally, and our job is to ensure we hold that line and keep those the only places these people can cross," Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw said. A statement from the Texas National Guard further outlined the strategy.

"These additional forces will bolster the thousands of Texas National Guard service members already assisting local and state law enforcement agencies to secure the border; stop the smuggling of drugs, weapons and people into Texas; and prevent, detect, and interdict transnational criminal behavior between the ports of entry," the statement released Monday said, according to Fox News. "We have expanded our capabilities to include boat teams that patrol hundreds of river miles, drones and helicopters that detect illicit activity from the air, and brush teams, security points, and roving patrols that block and interdict illegal smuggling (drugs, weapons, and people) into Texas."

Abbott said the additional 545 special forces personnel are an escalation of Operation Lone Star, which has already had success in turning away 37,000 would-be border crossers. It has resulted in the arrest of 27,000 murderers, "cartel gang members," and other criminals attempting to make their way into the U.S.

The program has also seized "enough fentanyl that would have been enough to kill every man, woman, and child in the United States" at the border before it hit the streets of America. Even with this success, the gravity of the situation Biden has created with a hands-off approach from the federal government is undeniable.

"President Biden is laying down a welcome mat to people across the entire world saying that the United States border is wide open, and it will lead to an incredible amount of people coming across the border illegally," Abbott said. "President Biden’s open border policies is going to cause a catastrophic disaster in the United States."

"According to the Biden administration itself, they anticipate about 13,000 people coming across the border illegally every single day," the governor said of the projections following Title 42's expiration. "If you extend that out over the course of a year, it means it will be about 4,700,000 people coming across the border a year," Abbott explained.

"That will mean there will be more people coming across the border illegally than there are residents of the massive city of Chicago," Abbott said. However, to Biden, that is a feature of the strategy, not a bug.

Biden and the Democrats thrive on giving handouts, creating racial strife, and exploiting poverty to garner votes. Allowing thousands of illegal immigrants into the country will be a boon for them even as it destroys border states.

Texas must defend itself because Biden is actively working against it to ensure as many migrants as possible get into the U.S. At least he can count on the National Guard for help where the federal government refuses.

Fox commentator believes Joe Biden is setting the stage to pardon Hunter Biden:

Here is an {A-I} Summary:

Miranda Devine of Fox News has expressed concern that President Biden will pardon his son, Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden's legal problems appear to have caught the Biden administration by surprise as they have been feverishly trying to get the media to focus on their policy goals. During a recent interview, Biden did eventually talk about the possibility that his son could be charged and denied that it could impact how he does his job. Biden's potential action to protect his son could stand in the way of the administration's reputation and take the press away from its policy goals. It is not currently clear how the situation will turn out or if the Department of Justice will charge the person in question.

Conservative analyst Miranda Devine has expressed concern that President Biden may pardon his son Hunter, after reports suggest the Department of Justice is considering an indictment following a multi-year government investigation. Despite the potential legal repercussions for Hunter's business dealings, Joe Biden denied this could impact how he does his job. Devine warns that Biden could protect his son from the Department of Justice's actions by offering him a presidential pardon in his lame duck period to frame himself as a lovely family man full of empathy and gain public sympathy.

Miranda Devine, a well-known conservative analyst on Fox News, has offered concern that President Biden might pardon his son Hunter Biden.

The first son's business dealings are getting more and more attention being brought to the first family due to headlines focusing on the potential for fraud among the first family, according to a report by The Conservative Brief.

According to a story by Fox News Digital, the President's appointees at the Department of Justice have been thinking about the chance of going after an indictment after a multi-year government investigation.

"That mythology of Joe Biden that's been around for more than four decades, which is that he's a lovely family man… moderate Democrat, lunch pail Joe, working class Joe, the poorest man in Congress, and a wonderful family man full of empathy because of the tragedies in his own life. That's what he's playing on," Devine said Sunday.

"I think the end game is that he's setting up… framing this sympathy card so that when it comes time, perhaps in his lame duck period, that he will pardon Hunter and Americans will forgive him," Devine went on.

"Well, Hunter was a drug addict and Joe just loves his family, and he's been through enough tragedy in his life," she continued. "Leave him alone."

Hunter Biden's legal problems appear to have come as a surprise to the Biden administration, which has been feverishly working to get the media to focus on its policy goals.

Despite the challenges, during a recent interview, Biden did eventually talk about the possibility that his son could be charged, and he denied that it could impact how he does his job.

"My son has done nothing wrong," Biden said during the sit-down interview with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle that aired at 10 p.m. Friday. "I trust him. I have faith in him, and it impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him," he continued.

There could be plenty at stake for the Biden family since Hunter's legal snafu could stand in the way of the administration's reputation and take the press away from its policy goals.

"It's obviously rehearsed, and the plan for Joe Biden is to just remove himself entirely from the influence peddling operation that he was involved in with his son Hunter and his brother Jim, pretend that it has nothing to do with him, and that Hunter is just being persecuted in a political witch hunt," Devine said.

"That's probably the only way he can go, considering he's lied about his involvement since before the 2020 election," she continued.

The commentator's warning serves as a reminder that Biden could take steps to protect the first-son from the results of what is being done by his Department of Justice.

It is not currently clear how the situation will turn out or if the Department of Justice will charge the person in question.

Has God made You a Watchman on the Wall?

Take your watch, _______________!

In Biblical Israel, as throughout most of the ancient world, guards or watchmen stood in watchtowers at strategic locations, looking for enemy arrivals, and blowing the trumpet to warn of their approach. Even today, there are guard towers throughout Israel manned by the Israeli Defense Forces, security guards, or local residents of the village.

In many ways, Believers in the God of Israel and Messiah Yeshua are also called to be watchmen. Let’s look at a few of these ways.

Watchmen Guard and Preserve Jerusalem

God so yearns for the safety and protection of Jerusalem in the last days that He says: “On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen [shomerim]; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves.” (Isaiah 62:6)

The Hebrew word for watchmen here is shomerim, from the root shamar, which means to keep, guard, watch, and preserve. A Shomer Shabbat (literally, Guard of the Sabbath) is a person who keeps the Shabbat according to rabbinic fashion. A shomer is also a security guard in Israel, such as one who is hired to watch over a group of students going on a hike close to an Arab area, or one who is a security guard at the entrance of a shopping mall.

Whenever things in Israel look dark or difficult, we who stand with the Jewish nation can take encouragement from God’s Word. He says that He Himself is the Shomer of Israel: “He who watches [shomer] over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121:4)

The watchmen (shomerim) appointed by God on the walls of Jerusalem could be angels, such as those who patrol the earth in Zechariah 1:11, or the one who fought against the Prince of Persia on its way to minister to Daniel in chapter 10 of the Book of Daniel.

Many Believers think of themselves as these watchmen over Jerusalem; thousands of prayer warriors around the world continually pray for the shalom (peace) of Jerusalem. It is reported that in South Korea, for instance, hundreds of Christians get up daily at 4 a.m. to pray for Israel.

Others try to preserve the souls of the Jewish People by warning them about their need for salvation through Yeshua.

Guarding Israel in these ways is the desire of God’s heart, as He tells the Prophet Ezekiel:

"I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before Me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30)

To help with this problem, God appointed Ezekiel and other prophets as His watchmen.

Watchmen Warn of Danger

God often calls the prophets His watchmen, such as when He told Ezekiel: "Son of man, I have made you a watchman [tzopheh] for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.” (Ezekiel 3:17)

The Hebrew word for watchman here is tzopheh, which comes from the word tzaphah –צָפָה, which means to look out, spy, or keep watch. So serious is this position to God that He said He would hold Ezekiel accountable for the deaths of those he was told to warn and did not (Ezekiel 33:1-7).

“‘If the watchman [tzopheh] sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman [tzopheh] accountable for their blood.’” (Ezekiel 33:6)

This was the call of the prophets in ancient Israel and it is the call of Believers in Yeshua.

When God sent 72 of His disciples throughout Jerusalem to share the Good News that the Kingdom has come near, it also came with a warning for those who rejected them: “It will be more bearable on the Day of Judgment for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town,” Yeshua said in Matthew 10:15.

Quite often, we even need to become watchmen over our own hearts and minds. When the Prophet Habakkuk complained to God, he appointed himself as a watchman, looking for the answer:

“I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.” (Habakkuk 2:1)

However, when we hear a Word from God, we must be prepared to actually do it. “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.” (James 4:17)

The Lord Is Israel’s Ultimate Watchman

Today, in Israel, the Hebrew word for "Christians" (those who follow Christ/Messiah) is Notzrim. Isn't it incredible that another word for watchman, which is not as common in Scripture as shomer or tzopheh is notzri, which means watchman, guardian, or overseer (notzrim in the plural)! It comes from the root natzar – נָצַר, which means to watch, guard or preserve. It’s a beautiful word in Scripture as it describes the Lord’s oversight in keeping Israel precious and safe.

“In a desert land He found him [Jacob], in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; He guarded [natzar] him as the apple of His eye.” (Deuteronomy 32:10)

“You are my hiding place; You preserve [natzar] me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:7)

This refreshingly positive understanding of natzar has been lost for centuries in the Jewish culture because another meaning of notzrim was men of Nazareth, the city where Yeshua (Jesus) was raised as a child.

Rabbi Shaul (Apostle Paul) was called “a ringleader of the Nazarene Sect” as he stood on trial in Acts 24:5.

That’s the first time we read that followers of Yeshua of Nazareth were called notzrim — and it caught on.

Early 2nd Century Jewish writings (such as the Mishnah) and those of the Church Fathers record Christians being referred to by Jews as Notzrim

This is quite significant since the word notzrim, which in Scripture refers to God’s protection of Israel, also gives us a clue as to the identity of Messiah Himself.

Messiah Yeshua Is the Lord’s Divine Watchman

Some say there are no coincidences in the Hebrew language and, interestingly, a related word to notzrim with the same root (N-TZ-R) is netzer –נֵצֶר. Netzer means shoot or branch, which can refer to descendants, as we find in this well-known prophetic Messianic verse:

“A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse [King David's father]; from his roots a Branch [Netzer] will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him — the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.” (Isaiah 11:1–2)

The netzer here is Messiah Yeshua, the Son of David, the Head of the Notzrim. He came as a divine watchman warning people to “repent, for the Kingdom of God has come near.” (Matthew 4:17)

And He came to preserve their lives for eternity: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." (Luke 24:9)

Like the warring angels and the prophets of old, Believers in Yeshua today are called to be concerned for the physical and spiritual preservation of Israel. We are called to be the Watchmen praying for the shalom (peace) of Jerusalem; helping the world to understand God’s plan for His People and His Land, and defending them against the battles waging against them daily.

And most importantly, we are also called to speak the Word of God to the Jewish People, helping them to understand that His Kingdom has come through Messiah Yeshua, the prophesied Netzer (Branch) of David, the One they have been longing for. In all these ways, Believers are to be God's appointed watchmen for Israel today.

"Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes." (Isaiah 52:8)
