Isaiah's Prophecy Fulfilled in Christ:

The importance of the Septuagint.

Last week, we shared a behind-the-scenes look at the Septuagint and why it is such a powerful tool in the creation of iBIBLE. If you missed that email, you can read it here. Today, we will explore how the Septuagint confirms the prophetic nature of Scripture, underscoring the importance of the Divine narrative!

Modern-day critics often try to dismiss the prophetic nature of the book of Isaiah by claiming that it may have been written by several different authors over a long period of time, with each author writing after the events they wrote about occurred. According to this theory, Isaiah chapters 1–39 were written by Isaiah, chapters 40–55 were written much later by someone else, and finally, chapters 55–66 were written even later by yet another person.

They believe that the prophecies in Isaiah about Jesus are so specific that they must have been written after the events took place, which impacts the date that the book was written.

This rationalizing approach is nothing new. Porphyry (234–305 AD) is stated to have claimed something similar. He believed that Isaiah was written after the death of Jesus. Why? Because the text so clearly refers

to Him!

Here are just a few of the dozens of Messianic prophecies in Isaiah that

Jesus fulfilled:

Jesus was whipped, beaten, and scorned:

I gave my back to those who strike, and my cheeks to those who pull out the beard; I hid not my face from disgrace and spitting. —Isaiah 50:6, ESV

Jesus bore the sins of the world on his shoulders:

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. —Isaiah 53:4

Jesus was buried in a rich man’s tomb:

And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. —Isaiah 53:9

Jesus was counted with criminals:

Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors. —Isaiah 53:12

Jesus was rejected by His own people:

I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices —Isaiah 65:2


Koine Greek, the language of the Septuagin


The New Testament also clearly cites Isaiah being the sole writer of the book. In John chapter 12, both Isaiah 6 and Isaiah 53 are quoted, both attributing Isaiah as the author:

Though [Jesus] had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him, so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:

“Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said,

“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart,

and turn, and I would heal them.”

Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him. —John 12:37–41

As we discussed last week, the Septuagint was translated around 282 BC—almost 300 years before the time of Christ. This widely circulated Greek translation of the Old Testament included the entire text of Isaiah, with all the clear prophecies about Jesus above! This validates the claim that Isaiah was written long before the time of Christ. We are so thankful that we can take the Word of God at face value, and know that skeptic's theories will come and go, but the Word alone has stood the test of time. [Patrick Bestall]

Democrat Peltola beats Palin in Alaska special election upset:

Democrat Mary Peltola has defeated Republican Sarah Palin in the special election for Alaska’s vacant House seat, a big upset over the former governor in the state’s first election under ranked-choice voting.

Peltola, a former state legislator who will become Alaska’s first indigenous member of Congress, defeated a special election field that included Palin and another Republican, Nick Begich III. The Democrat finished first in the initial tally and then won enough second-choice votes from Begich’s supporters to see off Palin, who had former President Donald Trump’s endorsement and previously won a statewide campaign in 2006.

Palin was making her first run for elected office since resigning as Alaska’s governor in 2009, a year after she was nominated as John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate.

White House Staffers Get Major Windfall from Biden’s Student Loan Foregiveness:

The idea that Biden has proposed to cancel student loans is going to cost the American taxpayers billions of dollars and would put the country even more in debt.

In addition to this, it will lead to an increase in the money supply at a time when historic levels of inflation are currently being experienced.

In spite of assertions made by Democrats that the measure is geared at people with low incomes, a new analysis demonstrates that high income earners, such as those residing in the White House, are eligible for the program. Hold off judgment till you find out who they are.

Biden has devised a novel plan to shaft Americans from the middle class while assisting his network of wealthy associates.

Individuals with an annual income of less than $125,000 are eligible for the loan cancellation plan, and those who attended college with the assistance of Pell Grants may be eligible for a $20,000 cancellation of their loans.

Biden has also chosen to prolong the moratorium on the repayment of federal student loans until January 2023. In addition, he would allow borrowers who have loans for undergraduate study to cap their monthly payments at 5% of their income.

The workers in Washington, D.C., on the other hand, are in for a significant windfall thanks to the policy of the commander in chief, as reported by Philip Wegmann, a reporter for RealClearPolitics.

According to financial disclosures obtained by Bloomberg earlier this year, at least 30 senior White House officials have outstanding student loan debt. This accounts for one in five staff members who are required to disclose the paperwork.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and National Economic Council Deputy Director Bharat Ramamurti are just two of the officials who collectively owe as much as $4.7 million; one legislative aide alone owes between $500,000 and $1 million. Wealthy leftists have an ever-expanding list of things we’re not “allowed” to talk about these days, and in addition to the usual woke “isms,” that includes anything that points out their rank hypocrisy. Their latest crusade is an attempt to silence the AFP Report. It’s a private company that compiles flight records so that the public can track any particular jet, including private jets used by politicians, celebrities, royal family members and other “eco-warriors” who like to fly all over the world to nag the rest of us to lower our CO2 emissions.

They don’t like the rest of us knowing that they take CO2-spewing private jets the way the rest of us might take Ubers, so they’re complaining that the AFP Report is a security threat to them and should be shut down. Problem is, all it does is compile flight information that’s public domain, so if they didn’t do it, any number of other people could.

I suspect the real reason they’re so upset isn’t that this exposes them to physical danger as that it exposes the truth about them.

Some are trying to spin it away, like the claim from Taylor Swift’s people that she wasn’t taking all those flights; her jet is also used by other people. Okay, are any of them also big green nags who could be flying commercial, or better yet, holding their CO2-reduction meetings on Zoom like the rest of us, instead of at five-star resorts in Switzerland?

I’ll give Taylor Swift the benefit of the doubt that she only uses her private jet for the most urgent reasons. She was famous for being apolitical until the cancel culture pressure finally got to her and she came out as a typical MSNBC-quoting, Republican-denouncing showbiz lib -- conveniently, immediately after performing the final show of her giant stadium tour.

My writers Pat and Laura attended that final show in Arlington, Texas (no, they’re not Swifties; they were given free tickets and figured they’d check it out.) They report that it was the biggest production they’d ever seen, with massive video screens, indoor fireworks, flying platforms, dance troupes, a giant inflatable snake and much more. Taylor wanted the biggest production ever seen, and she got it. Good for her.

Except that doing that required over 160 diesel-powered semi-trailer trucks just to haul the massive stage sets to various stadiums, where a crew of hundreds would spend two days assembling it. By comparison, a typical touring act might use 4-to-10 semis.

But would fans have filled stadiums to see Taylor Swift if she just sang with a small group, or accompanied herself on a guitar? Probably, yes. How much CO2 would that have kept out of the atmosphere? I’d bet more than your family will create over at least three generations. But it was important to her, just like jetting off to all those confabs where they tell the rest of us to cut our emissions is so, so important to very self-important people like John Kerry.

So that’s fine. Keep taking your private jets to environmental conferences. It’s still a semi-free country. But don’t tell me I don’t have the right to point out your hypocrisy. That’s the deal we all agree to: You have the freedom to be a self-important jackass, and I have the freedom to point it out and laugh at you. If you want me to stop, there’s a far better solution than trying to shut down free speech: do what I do and fly commercial. Or else just yak on Zoom. [Dave Strock]
