REMINDER:

CNN's new CEO takes surprising shot at liberals, condemns them for their 'uninformed vitriol': 'Stunning':

Chris Licht has led CNN as its top executive for less than a year. But one of the most surprising aspects of his new job, he recently admitted, is the "uninformed vitriol" of the left.

Speaking with the New York Times in a wide-ranging interview about his tenure as CEO of CNN, Licht called progressive reaction to his leadership "stunning."

"The uninformedvitriol, especially from the left, has been stunning," Licht told the Times. "Which proves my point: So much of what passes for news is name-calling, half-truths, and desperation."

Since officially assuming control of CNN in May, Licht has been on a mission to transform CNN into a reputable news outlet. To achieve his goal, Licht has:

  • · cut overly partisan personalities,

  • · made significant programming changes, and

  • · initiated layoffs.

In August, Licht promised that growing pains would result in changes that existing employees will not like.

"I want to acknowledge that this is a time of significant change, and I know that many of you are unsettled," Licht told CNN employees at the time. "There will be more changes and you might not understand it or like it."

The most recent change included laying off hundreds of employees to slash as much as $100 million from CNN's budget. Licht told the New York Times that the layoffs were the "low point" of his tenure as CEO.

Anything else?

One of the more interesting revelations to come from his interview with the Times is that Licht's former boss, late-night TV host Stephen Colbert, advised Licht not to accept the offer to become CEO of CNN.

"Definitely dont go do that," Colbert recalled telling Licht in February.

Now, Colbert reportedly routinely reminds Licht during their weekly phone conversations that he believes he was right. According to the Times, Colbert begins each conversation with the same four words, "I told you so."

Breaking News from Newsmax:

Nancy Pelosi snaps at Reporter who asked her about if she would complete the remainder of her term in office:

Outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told a reporter "not to bother" her about whether she would complete her two-year term in Congress after losing the majority, the Daily Caller reported. The California Democrat will not lead her party in the House once Republicans take over in January.

Pelosi ran for reelection in November for her San Francisco district and won handily. However, the Democratic Party did not maintain control of the House, meaning Pelosi lost her high-profile position as third in line to the president.

A reporter at a news conference Thursday asked her whether she would "commit to serving" her "full two-year term for the people of San Fransico" now that her leadership role was through. Pelosi got angry and snapped back at the reporter.

"What is this? Don't bother me with a question like that," Pelosi said with a sneer.

"Really. Really, OK?" she said, looking around at the other journalists in the room, a few of whom were laughing nervously.

"I said what I'm going to do. Those kind of questions are such a waste of my time," Pelosi said.

Pelosi already said she would maintain her role as a lawmaker after announcing she was stepping down from Democratic leadership, The Hill reported. "This I will continue to do as a member of the House: speaking for the people of San Francisco, serving the great state of California and defending our Constitution," she said from the floor.

"And with great confidence in our Caucus, I will not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress," Pelosi added. However, many have speculated that the 82-year-old wouldn't stick around without the gavel in her hand.

In the runup to November's election, Pelosi did not state she would be leaving Congress. However, some behind the scenes were already positioning themselves to succeed her regardless of when the time officially comes.

One name being bandied about was the California Democrat's daughter, Christine Pelosi. She would have the advantage of continuing the Pelosi dynasty. However, another odds-on favorite, state Sen. Scott Wiener, would represent an activist bent Democrats prefer.

As for Nancy Pelosi, she remarked that Thursday's news conference was her last time doing so in Democratic leadership. When asked about her most notable achievement, she named Obamacare.

"Nothing in any of the years that I was there compares to the Affordable Care Act," Pelosi said. She was Speaker in 2010 when then-President Barack Obama pushed his healthcare overhaul.

Pelosi was instrumental in getting the landmark legislation through, but Democrats faced intense backlash in the following midterms. Pelosi reportedly blamed it on white men who "get in a mood" when they "don't have a job."

It's unclear whether Pelosi will stay without being able to wield outsized power. However, the octogenarian does not seem like the type to quietly ride off into the sunset. [American Digest]

Jan. 6 Committee votes to refer Trump to DOJ on multiple criminal charges:

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection voted during its final public meeting Monday to refer former President Donald Trump to the Department of Justice on at least four criminal charges. [CNN Politics Media]

Republicans Plan to Issue Their Own Report to Dismantle the January 6 Committee’s Partisan Exercise

It was expected that the January 6 Committee would publish at least part of its final report on Monday, including its executive summary as well as eight chapters. The complete report is around 1,000 pages.

The aim of the exercise was to do whatever the committee members could do to harm former President Donald Trump's presidential record, hoping this would aid them in the midterm elections. However, the Republicans were able to win the House, and Trump declared that he would be running for president in 2024. This means they didn't achieve their primary goals. They'll probably try to make a criminal referral against Trump and others, and it will be interesting to see what evidence they use to prove it since they haven't provided any evidence yet to show that Trump was in any way guilty of a crime.

Most Americans opposed the partisan exercise. They reacted negatively to it, and the majority of them didn't even bother to watch the televised show, which didn’t change their opinions about January 6. The Committee did not have any members appointed by Republicans, and members didn't permit any defense from Trump and/or any rebuttals. It was composed of individuals selected by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), including two disgustingly Trump-hating Republicans, Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). The entire document was inherently flawed from the beginning.

But it is important to note that the Committee will not be the only ones to release a report. Republicans are expected to release their report from their own committee, which is composed of Republican appointees whom Pelosi rejected, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH). They'll challenge that Democratic report and concentrate on the actual issues regarding security's shortcomings in contrast to the solely political campaign to bring down Trump, in which the Democrats are involved. They'll be calling the “official” report the Democratic propaganda that it is.

According to Axios:

“The Republicans probed the Capitol Police and FBI’s intelligence gathering and dissemination, as well as the insufficient training and equipment given to law enforcement—including by interviewing Capitol Police officers.

“By contrast, Banks claimed, the select committee’s plan to have Trump as the focal point of its report is ‘all about political payback.’

“He said the GOP group will also ‘dive into legislative and policy changes that could be made by the next speaker.’”

Axios covered the Republican committee, implicitly denigrating it and calling it a “shadow committee.” Well, if the “official committee” doesn't have any real representatives who are members of the Republican Party on it and is just pumping out the story that the Democrats were trying to promote and does not allow arguments to be made, then it's not an actual committee. So, they can criticize the Republican committee, but it's the Democratic committee that's flawed.

This is a clear indication of the biases of the media. Axios Communications Manager Jake Wilkins also stated that Republicans weren't able to provide convincing arguments.

To what extent were they required to offer “counterpoints” when all the “official” committee did was show anti-Republican plays? Furthermore, the counterpoint was to focus on the concerns about security and not on the political campaign to hurt Trump. The Democrats will release their findings, and, when they're done, that drama train will end.

In its final stage, it'll be an unstoppable train crash. [Rick Right Media]

No jurisdiction:

This is my third report on the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) tribunal hearing in the case of TCDSB Trustee Michael Del Grande, who is being accused of misconduct for having objected to his Catholic board adopting a policy to embrace transgender ideology.

1) The first report focused on the small victory on November 29 in which an admitted “LGBT activist” recused himself as a judge on the OCT panel.

2) The second article revealed the astonishing admission by the same judge that a program being taught in Ontario schools is based on the writings of Karl Marx, father of communism.

3) My third report, today, will explain the rock-solid arguments that were presented to the remaining judges by Del Grande’s defense lawyer, Dr. Charles Lugosi.

These arguments made it clear that the charges against Del Grande are baseless and revealed egregious problems with the entire complaint process.

Is there jurisdiction?

During the opening day of hearings, Dr. Lugosi asked the judicial panel:

“Does the jurisdiction of this panel extend to a politician who is not acting in a teaching capacity?”

This is really the central question of this case. It even has national implications.

Mike being found guilty could create a precedent that potentially affects the Charter right to freedom of expression for all elected officials in Canada. From School Trustees to City Councillors to MPs.

Does a professional College have any right whatsoever to discipline a school board trustee for comments he or she makes during a school board meeting, while debating a motion prior to a vote?

Let’s imagine that a City Councillor still holds a teaching license, but in the course of debating a bylaw at City Hall, says something that offends the teachers college. Should the College have the power to discipline him or her?

To use a slightly different analogy, what about an MP who holds a license to practice law? If during a heated debate in the House of Commons an MP were to say things that the law society who issued his license found offensive”, should that regulatory body be allowed to strip the MP of his license?

The suggestion that the OCT has legitimate authority to do this to Trustee Del Grande is rendered even more ridiculous by the fact that he was not teaching students in a classroom. Rather, he was speaking at a meeting of the Board of Trustees. Making it more absurd still, Del Grande does not have a teaching contract, nor has he ever worked as a teacher!

Dr. Lugosi ended this argument succinctly:

The object of the Act governing the teachers college is to regulate the profession of teaching... but the facts show that it is being extended to regulate the conduct of elected school board trustees”.

Grave errors in administrative law

During the live streamed hearing, Dr. Lugosi listed a number of serious defects in the College’s case against Trustee Del Grande.

1. Vague List of Complainants

Lugosi pointed out that the list of complainants is “vague”. The person who actually filed the complaint was a pro-gay activist named Kevin Welbes Godin, a gentleman who is known for conducting “2SLGBTQI+ workshops” at Catholic schools.

Oddly however:

  • Godin will not testify.

  • Nor did he bother to attend the hearing.

  • Nor was he a participant in the school board trustee debates which gave rise to his complaint.

Instead his complaint was written in such a way that it seeks redress on behalf of unknown, unidentified “members of the LGBT community” who, supposedly, were offended by Del Grande’s speech at the board meeting.

Another part of Godin’s complaint was over Trustee Del Grande’s interaction at a previous board meeting with a student trustee who had expressed a pro-abortion position during the meeting, and who objected to showing a pro-life movie at Catholic schools called Unplanned.

Del Grande had attempted to discuss with her the fact that the Catholic Church teaches that abortion is not morally permissible, and she apparently got upset about it. The student trustee herself never filed any complaint with the College. However, the pro-gay activist, Mr. Godin, who was not a party to the conversation between the two trustees, did file a complaint!

This is bizarre. To me, it looks like a vengeful abuse of process on the part of a complainant who has no genuine standing in the matter.

2. No reasons provided

Dr. Lugosi told the tribunal that his review of the documentation found that:

No reasons were provided by the College’s Investigation Committee when it referred the complaint to the next stage, which was sending it to the Discipline Committee”.

In laymen’s terms, the committee believed there was enough evidence that Del Grande was “guilty” of "teacher misconduct" to warrant a Discipline Committee hearing, but gave no reasons to justify the decision.

Dr. Lugosi made the further point that the Investigation Committee’s mere recitation of the statutory criteria to be considered does not meet the legal test to provide meaningful, cogent, and detailed reasons for review.

3. College only interviewed witnesses for one side

Del Grande’s legal counsel raised a serious issue of Administrative Law principles that was not being respected in this hearing. That is, the College’s investigators only interviewed witnesses supplied by the complainant. Not a single person on the witness list provided by the defendent was interviewed.

Does this taint the proceedings?”, Lugosi asked the judicial panel.

Future hearing dates

There are at least five more hearing dates set aside to continue the trial and hear witness testimonies for both sides: January 24, February 22, April 11-12, and May 2.

Please pray that Mike Del Grande’s legal counsel will continue to present powerful arguments in cross-examination and witness testimonies, and that ultimately, God will vindicate the faithful Catholic Trustee.

Mike is enduring a lot of persecution and prosecution in order to:

  • · defend Catholic moral teaching,

  • · parental rights, and

  • · our children's eternal souls.

We wish to thank everyone who has donated to Mike's legal defense fund! Without you, Mike wouldn't have the ability to fight.

However, we're still short $72,000 of the $200,000 crowdfunding goal we set to cover the two separate legal battles Mike is in as a result of his opposition to Gender Ideology. Aside from this OCT hearing, Mike's in the midst of a separate court case involving persecution he's suffering at the hands of his fellow trustees for the same issue.

Would you be able to help again, or for the first time if you haven't donated yet?
