London, Ontario is the home of the world's newest, largest cricket producing facility. The Aspire Food Group plant is located in Innovation Park off of Veterans Memorial Parkway. The aim is to combat the CO2 being produced by our healthy, conventional foods, most specifically that which we get from cows. And once again the public is being handed a pile of (pardon the pun) cow manure.


According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, topping the list of sources of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in 2016 was electricity production (28 percent of total emissions). In fact, transportation rated the exact same as electricity production...28 percent. So much for saving the planet by going electric! Switching to electric cars is merely a lateral move environmentally. Add to that the enormously heavy financial and environmental burden of changing over all the infrastructure for the sake of an obviously unnecessary different energy source for travel and transportation.


Meanwhile, do we need to stop eating meat and start eating crickets? From the same EPA study cited above it is reported that Animal Agriculture (farming animals for food) contributes merely 3.9 percent of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. That’s very different from claiming that we must reduce our production and consumption of meat to save the planet.


The people who go to work each day making the goods, and performing the services that keep the economic engine running are constantly being bombarded with new laws and flawed, unattainable visions of those who live in ivory towers.

They are lying to us.
