I am pleased to provide a response on behalf of Superintendents Paul Sydor, Sheila Builder and myself. I have portfolio responsibility for Library Services within the board.
Schools select resources for their library based on curriculum needs and student interest. These decisions are made at the school level with the teacher-librarian in consultation with the school administration and educators at the school. Schools do seek input from Learning Support Services staff at the Education Centre, as needed, to ensure curriculum connections to resources.
In the past, we have had a question about whether the board maintains an approved list of books for libraries. As new books are published on an ongoing basis, it is not possible to maintain a current list of approved books, as this list would be immediately out-of-date as new resources become available every week through publishers.
We have a TVDSB staff resource entitled Decision Making Tool for Resource Section, which guides schools in their selection of resources for classroom and library use. All staff had professional learning linked to this resource in the 2021-2022 school year as part of our system-side Professional Learning days. We are committed to supporting schools in making informed decisions about resources based on curriculum needs and equity considerations to ensure that resources reflect the diversity of our communities.
If there are concerns raised by a parent or community member about a resource, the school administration works with school staff and the Education Centre Library Services team to review the book to determine if the book will remain or be removed from the school library.
I am committed to working the Library Services team to review the titles that you shared prior to the start of the school year.

On “The Rubin Report,” Blaze TV host Dave Rubin spoke with James Lindsay, Libby Emmons, and Elisha Krauss about a recent CNN poll that shows President Joe Biden's approval ratings have reached an "all-time low."
On "The Lead," CNN's political director, David Chalian, told host Jake Tapper that Biden's approval ratings have hit a new low in CNN polling, tracking well below former Presidents Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and George Bush for having the “right priorities" at this point in his presidency.
According to the poll, the president's overall job approval rating is at 38%, while his disapproval rating stands at 62%. It goes on to say that this drop in antibodies is essentially permanent. What does this mean? We know that vaccines do not prevent infection or transmission of the virus (indeed, the report elsewhere shows that vaccinated adults are now much more likely to be infected than unvaccinated ones). The British now find that the vaccine interferes with the body's ability to make antibodies after infection not only against the spike protein but also against other parts of the virus. In particular, vaccinated people do not appear to form antibodies against the nucleocapsid protein, the envelope of the virus, which is a crucial part of the response in unvaccinated people. In the long term, the vaccinated are far more susceptible to any mutations in the spike protein, even if they have already been infected and cured once or more. The unvaccinated, on the other hand, will gain lasting, if not permanent, immunity to all strains of the alleged virus after being naturally infected with it even once.
