COVID Charges Stayed against former MP Derek Sloan, pastor Henry Hildebrandt
In 2021, former Conservative MP Derek Sloan and prominent pastor Henry Hildebrandt were both charged under the Reopening Ontario Act for peacefully protesting against COVID mandates.
(LifeSiteNews) –– COVID-era charges leveled against two prominent Canadian pro-freedom advocates, former federal Conservative MP Derek Sloan and Christian pastor Henry Hildebrandt, have now been “resolved,” says the legal team representing the pair.
“While my clients would have preferred not to have been charged in the first place, this is an excellent outcome,” noted the lawyer for Sloan and Hildebrandt, Chris Fleury from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), in a press commentary sent to LifeSiteNews.
“With these resolutions, prosecutions under the Reopening Ontario Act are thankfully beginning to come to an end,” he added.
Sloan, a former Conservative Party of Canada MP, was hit with COVID tickets for violating Ontario’s Reopening Ontario Act when he attended a “No More Lockdowns Canada” rally in Norwich, Ontario, against COVID mandates on May 8, 2021. The rally saw almost 1,000 come together to protest the COVID-era mandates, including the restrictions in place at the time that limited church attendance size and banned large outdoor gatherings.
Hildebrandt, the pastor at the Church of God in Aylmer, Ontario, was likewise hit with tickets on May 30, 2021, after he attended a similar pro-freedom rally against COVID dictates in Woodstock, Ontario.
Both events were peaceful, stated the JCCF, who noted that Sloan’s and Hildebrandt’s charges were “either stayed or withdrawn at the request of the respective prosecutors.”
“The Justice Centre provided lawyers to defend these courageous individuals, who received tickets for exercising their Charter freedoms,” said the JCCF.
“One of the most well-known pastors in Ontario, Pastor Hildebrandt exercised his Charter freedoms of expression, association, conscience, religion and peaceful assembly in the face of provincial laws that violated these fundamental freedoms.”
The JCCF noted that Hildebrandt “spoke at many peaceful outdoor rallies during the lockdowns and was charged more than six times in the first half of 2021 with violating the Reopening Ontario Act.”
Both Sloan and Hildebrandt were vocal opponents of draconian COVID mandates, including those surrounding the experimental mRNA vaccines. Such vaccines were imposed by both the provincial Progressive Conservative government of Ontario under Premier Doug Ford, as well as the federal Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In April of 2021, the Ontario provincial government once again increased its COVID measures and declared a state of emergency over rising cases of the virus. It then put in place a complete ban on all outdoor gatherings which, in effect, made peaceful protests illegal in the province.
At the time, Sloan was a sitting MP.
Sloan was kicked out of the Conservative Party of Canada shortly after the 2022 leadership race, of which he was a candidate. He is outspokenly pro-life.
Hildebrandt last year had other COVID-era charges leveled against him dropped.
In early 2023, Canadian Crown prosecutors dropped 2021 charges levied against Hildebrandt for allegedly violating COVID health orders related to worship size gathering limits that were in effect at that time.
Gov’t ‘violated’ the rights of ‘millions of Ontarians’
Speaking about the now-stayed charges, JCCF president John Carpay blasted the Ontario provincial government, saying it “violated the Charter freedoms of millions of Ontarians with health measures that were based on fear, not science.”
“There is no evidence to support the idea that peaceful outdoor gatherings, rendered illegal by the government, caused any harm,” he added.
COVID vaccine mandates split Canadian society. The mRNA shots themselves, approved for use in Canada, have been linked to a multitude of negative and often severe side effects in children.
The jabs also have connections to cell lines derived from aborted babies. As a result of this, many Catholics and other Christians refused to take them.
Canadians fought back against COVID dictates en masse. In early 2022, the Freedom Convoy saw thousands of Canadians from coast to coast gather in Ottawa to demand an end to COVID mandates in all forms.
Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, Trudeau’s government enacted the Emergencies Act on February 14, 2022 to crush the movement, in a move that has since been declared “not justified” by a federal court. Trudeau revoked the EA on February 23, but not before freezing the bank accounts of protesters and supporters, as well as physically removing people from Ottawa’s downtown core.

Because a disturbing truth about Nikki Haley has been exposed for all to see.
Nikki Haley originally claimed that she would be staying in the Republican presidential primary up until the bitter end because she believed she had a chance as long as there were more primaries to win.
Her tone suddenly changed though after the primaries on March 5th as Nikki Haley announced that she would be suspending her campaign after she faced a massive loss on Super Tuesday, making very little progress with gaining delegates from the 15 states that voted on that day.
Now, in the wake of her campaign, conservatives in Congress and millions of Trump voters are arguing that she stayed in the race longer than she should have. She, overall, polled worse than Ron DeSantis but he read the writing on the wall a long time ago and suspended his campaign appropriately.
By staying in the race, she continued to draw attention away from Donald Trump who many say was always going to be the GOP nominee as long as he wanted it. There’s consequences for that.
New reports are coming out indicating that Nikki Haley’s failure of a presidential campaign spent tens of millions of dollars, support that could’ve gone to Donald Trump in his rematch against incumbent Democrat Joe Biden.
FEC reports indicate that groups such as Americans for Prosperity Action and the SFA Fund, alongside the Haley campaign, spent north of $120 million dollars to make her the next President of the United States.
In Iowa alone, those in Haley’s corner put up more than $40 million dollars for an early primary race win in the state which never materialized as Donald Trump mopped the floor with his opponents right from the start.
In New Hampshire? Haley supporters spent more than $31 million on her bid in that early state primary race.
Then the real end of the road was when she got embarrassed in her home town in South Carolina, as she lost the Palmetto State race by double digits. There, her supporters still spent nearly $10 million.
However, after she faced those major losses, the money stopped rolling in for her. Across all fifteen of the Super Tuesday races, Haley and her supporters only poured in about $900,000.
No doubt, Haley had a ton of money behind her to be able to at least compete in a normal presidential primary race. But this was no normal presidential primary race. This is one where many Trump supporters believe he deserves a second shot, no questions asked.
Republican officials are reportedly lamenting that it took so long for Nikki Haley to drop out.
“She probably should have got out when she lost her own state,” a Republican Senator from Oklahoma shared with reporters. “I could understand why she stayed there for that, but the fact that she just stayed there and kept going after our nominee for the Republican party to be the next president of the United States, Donald Trump, it was a waste of money,” Mullin added.
On the bright side, Donald Trump doesn’t have to deal with primary contenders for as long as he did in 2016 when Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio both took Donald Trump to task up until the end. They also performed much better than Haley did.
Now, Trump is going to get dialed in and fight like h*ll to beat Joe Biden in the general election this November. The polls are in his favor, the funds will stop being divided, and he has all the momentum in the world.
It will be on him to deliver for his supporters and not fumble this opportunity as many political experts believe Joe Biden might be the most vulnerable incumbent president since Jimmy Carter.

Journalist Catherine Herridge was one of many employees who did not make the cut amid mass layoffs at Paramount.
The CBS reporter was let go despite her bona fides, and the timing was peculiar.
Herridge had been reporting on scandals related to the Bidens, which was a nonstarter for the establishment.
Journalistic violation
Worse yet, CBS seized her notes on the way out the door.
The union SAG-AFTRA ripped CBS to shreds, and the network was ashamed into returning her documents.
But the harassment did not stop there.
A D.C. Judge ruled that Herridge was in contempt of court for refusing to disclose a source regarding a defamation suit.
American scientist Yanping Chen sued the federal government because she claimed that her personal information was leaked with regard to an FBI investigation into her ties to China.
Chen was never charged as part of the investigation.
Judge Christopher Cooper, an Obama appointee, fined Herridge $800 per day until she revealed her source, which she refused to do.
Cooper ruled, “The Court does not reach this result lightly…It recognizes the paramount importance of a free press in our society and the critical role that confidential sources play in the work of investigative journalists like Herridge. Yet the Court also has its own role to play in upholding the law and safeguarding judicial authority.”
Orange Man Bad justifies all
The Left once considered protecting sources sacrosanct, but all principles were abandoned after Donald Trump became President.
Independent Journalist Glenn Greenwald pointed out, “One of the most disgraceful things many journalists did in their Russiagate hysteria was cheer a deranged, FBI-loving blogger who not only ratted [out] her source to the FBI, but did so voluntarily, without anyone asking. And liberal fanatics like [Washington Post columnist Margaret Sullivan] cheered this.”
Herridge’s Attorney, Patrick Philbin, said in a statement, “Holding a journalist in contempt for protecting a confidential source has a deeply chilling effect on journalism…Fox News Media remains committed to protecting the rights of a free press and freedom of speech and believes this decision should be appealed.”
Judge Cooper is the same person who blocked Special Counsel John Durham from entering evidence against Hillary Clinton’s Attorney Michael Sussmann that would have proved he was the linchpin of the Russia-gate hoax.
Sussmann lied to the FBI when he brought them evidence that allegedly tied Trump to a Russian bank; Sussmann said he was not connected to a campaign when he presented the evidence, but he was employed by Clinton.
The bank story turned out to be bogus.
The D.C. Swamp is very real, and Herridge’s latest struggles are proof.

The Ministry of Education is shining a light on student mental health this month. Please find attached a parent information sheet highlighting the new mental health modules being taught in Grades 7 and 8 starting this January.
This resource is called “Exploring Mental Health Together” and outlines the following:

• Signs of mental health problems
• Stigma related to mental health
• How to manage stress
• Where to go for help
• How to continue the conversation at home
Please note that the resource was developed specifically to align with the Grade 7 and Grade 8 health and physical education curriculum expectations.

While addressing mental health remains an important issue, it raises the question of whether schools and teachers should be responsible for tackling this sensitive topic. Undoubtedly, many teachers have had to handle mental health issues in their role, but they lack the training of psychologists. Is it appropriate for them to take on the role of mental health educators? Furthermore, it is concerning that the Ontario government has made this training mandatory for grades 7 and 8. Why should parents or guardians not have the option to opt out their child from this training?
As a parent or guardian, you may be interested in gaining a better understanding of the mental health training that will be required for your child. The TVDSB website links to School Mental Health Ontario (SMHO) as a mental health resource for students.
The SMHO website lists various resources and tools for teachers. One such resource is the “Identity-Affirming School Mental Health Frame”.

Apologies. I have a few things going on today, and there are actually a variety of interesting topics out on the internet. Let’s do just one. Arnaud Bertrand, who most recently did a transcript of a former French foreign minister taking apart Macron’s insanely reckless rhetoric about sending troops to Russia (never mind that it’s nonsensical), has done another partial transcript. This time it features an economics professor—James K. Galbraith at UT Austin—explaining why the sanctions war on Russia was a complete backfire. Not just a failure, but a backfire, in the sense that the sanctions actually helped Russia.
Recall, the sanctions war, according to Neocon strategery, was supposed to collapse Russian within weeks and lead to Putin being regime changed—which usually leads to death, if you follow American led regime changes. That in turn would lead to the collective West raping and looting Russia, just like in the good old 90s.
On the one hand, you won’t be surprised by anything Galbraith says—no real ‘Wow!’ moments. On the other hand, the key takeaway to be internalized is that our “intelligence” agencies are staffed by fools and idiots. Consider what Galbraith says. There’s nothing earth shaking in it, nothing that couldn’t have been foreseen. That’s the point. None of these results were foreseen because those in charge of foreseeing things had closed their eyes to these obvious possibilities—there were people out there warning that the sanctions wouldn’t work. None so blind as those who refuse to see.
By the way, these are the same people who are still in charge of “intelligence” for America’s increasingly disastrous imperial escapades around the world.

This is hands-down the best explanation I've heard on why sanctions on Russia backfired, and why they were never going to succeed in the first place.

Best quote of his explanation: "This is a situation in which the sanctions were imposed by one important sector of the world economy which then cut itself off from resources that it needs - and that's particularly true of Western Europe - in return for cutting Russia off from various things that Russia doesn't really need."
That’s the ~25 word version of why sanctions didn’t work. Now we move on to the longer “big backfire” part
Second best quote: "If you go back to the period before the introduction of the sanctions [...] the Russian economy was very heavily colonized by Western firms.
That was true in automobiles, it was true in aircrafts, it was true in everything from fast food restaurants to big box stores. Western firms were present all throughout the Russian economy.
A great many of them [...] either chose to exit Russia or were pressured to exit Russia after early 2022. So on what terms did they leave? Well, they were required, if they were leaving permanently, to sell their capital equipment, their factories and so forth, to let's say a Russian business which would get a loan from Russian banks or maybe have other sources of financing, at a very favorable price for the Russians. So effectively a lot of capital wealth, which was partly owned by the West, has been transferred to Russian ownership. And you now have an economy which is moving forward and has the advantage compared to Europe of relatively low resource costs because Russia is a great producer of resources, oil and gas and fertilizer and food stuff and so forth. And so while the Europeans are paying maybe twice in Germany what they were paying for energy, the Russians are not, they're paying perhaps less than they were paying before the war.
So again, I characterize the effect of the sanctions, in fact as being in certain respects a gift to the Russian economy. And this is, I think, quite different from what the authors of the sanctions expected. [...] And the essence of the situation is this would not have happened without the sanctions. You could have had the war, and it would have gone pretty much as it has gone. But the Russian government in 2022 was in no position to force the exit of Western firms. It didn't want to, wouldn't have done that. It was in no position to force its oligarchs to choose between Russia and the West. It didn't wish to do that. These choices were imposed by the West, and the results were actually, in many respects, favorable to the long-term independent development of the Russian Federation's economy."

Her willingness to fight has made her one of the top targets of both Democrat politicians and their friends in Big Media.
But now Marjorie Taylor Greene just said two words to this corporate-controlled media “journalist” that has Trump supporters seeing green.

Super Tuesday was a great night for former President Donald Trump.
Trump won 14 out of 15 races – and he didn’t just win them, he dominated.
The one state primary he lost was the blue bastion of Vermont – and it was a close contest, with former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley winning it by just four points and gaining a measly nine delegates.
The next day, Haley was finally convinced to withdraw her opposition to the former President.
But on election night, one of Trump’s biggest supporters, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, was at a victory party celebrating the momentous occasion.
And so, too, was a British “journalist” who chose that moment to play a game of “gotcha.”

Ex-BBC Anchor Emily Maitlis, now with the left-wing The News Agents out of London, cornered Marjorie Taylor Greene at the party and started asking some innocent questions.
Maitlis started out by asking about what message was sent by voters on Super Tuesday.
The Representative from the Peach State said it was clear Republican voters wanted Haley out of the race and to endorse the 45th President of the United States.
Next, Maitlis played to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ego by asking if she might be on Trump’s shortlist to join him on the ticket.
Greene responded by saying there are plenty of good Vice-Presidential possibilities, and she’s happy to help Trump in whatever way she can.
And that’s when Maitlis went in for the kill.
“And can you tell me why so many people that support Donald Trump love conspiracy theories, including yourself, he seems to attract lots of conspiracy theorists,” said Maitlis.
Without missing a beat, Marjorie Taylor Greene refused the premise and suggested it’s Big Media and left-wing reporters who love conspiracy theories, like Trump/Russia collusion or that the Hunter Biden laptop from hell was supposedly “Russian misinformation.”
But Maitlis continued to push the “conspiracy theory line.”
“What about Jewish space lasers? Tell us about Jewish space lasers,” condescendingly asked Maitlis.
At that point, Greene decided the interview was over – but first had a parting shot for the self-described “reporter.”
“Why don’t you go talk about Jewish space lasers and really why don’t you f**k off? How about that?”
Who is the real conspiracy theorist?
It should be noted that Marjorie Taylor Greene has never pushed the silly “Jewish space laser” nonsense – not during the California wildfires nor last year during the devastating fire in Hawaii.
Back in 2018, Marjorie Taylor Greene did resist the leftist narrative that it was the supposed “climate crisis” that caused the California wildfires.
The Congresswoman did mention there were reports from residents who claimed to witness lasers or blue beams of light during the fires.
But she never said anything about “Jewish space lasers.”
So, one could argue that the only conspiracy theory in the conversation was Maitlis’ suggestion that Marjorie Taylor Greene pushed the “Jewish space laser” line.

· Mon. 11 March: Michigan Sheriff submits affidavit stating that his department is in possession of evidence that proves Serbian foreign nationals remotely accessed the Michigan Election System in the 2020 election, and that Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson may be involved in covering it up through her use of an expert witness during the Antrim County case. Additionally, the Sheriff states that the Muskegon County, MI prosecutor’s office coordinated with the Michigan Attorney General, to bury evidence of Muskegon County election fraud.
· Mon. 11 March Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, relics, and mummies have been found in Kincaid’s Cave in the Grand Canyon. Ancient Egypt in America: In a restricted area of the Grand Canyon there are pyramids, caves, and tunnel cities full of hieroglyphics and ancient Egyptian relics. Many people do not know about them as this information has been suppressed by the federal government for about a century. The sky over this area is restricted air space, the area surrounding this pyramid and cave on the ground is illegal (and treacherous) to navigate, and all official reports about this from the Smithsonian and elsewhere have been censored, modified, nullified, or retracted. This still has not stopped people from attempting to visit this part of the canyon. Many have been arrested, and some have died attempting to climb to these sacred sites over the years. It has gotten to the point where the government feels it must have armed FBI agents guarding inside the entrance to the cave that is now known as Kincaid’s Cave.
