You would be forgiven if you thought that the 2024 election was pretty much in the bag for Kamala Harris and the Democrats. The mainstream media outlets have been spending almost all their air time trying to give flowery coverage of Kamala Harris for stepping in for Joe Biden, despite never winning a single delegate in any Presidential primary.

It’s not just the coverage, though.

 

The corporate media pollsters are now claiming that Kamala Harris is ahead of Donald Trump in their surveys to the tune of one to five points. Exactly how she went from an abysmal favorability rating to the leading Presidential candidate faster than you could say “Democrat Party coup” is anyone’s guess.

 

There’s one simple problem with all of this, though. That is the history of the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. What’s noteworthy about those elections is that all of the so-called “experts” were so certain that Donald Trump was going to lose those races in landslide victories for his Democrat opponents.

 

 

That didn’t go that way at all. Not only that, but he won in 2016 against all the odds and the 2020 election was a coin-flip that could have gone either way.

Meaning, if the polls are showing this race in November between Harris and Trump to be close, then Democrats should be worried based on how the past couple of Presidential elections have panned out when the time comes for Americans to actually vote. In fact, even a top Democrat operative, James Carville, is admitting this is the case.

 

Carville Warns Democrats Against Overconfidence in Harris’ Chances Amid Tight Race with Trump

Democratic strategist James Carville cautioned Democrats on Monday against overestimating Vice President Kamala Harris’ chances in the 2024 election, noting that former President Donald Trump has a history of outperforming his polling numbers.

 

Current polling data indicates a tight race. Trump holds a narrow 0.1% lead over Harris in the seven key battleground states, while Harris leads nationally by 1.5%, according to RealClearPolitics averages. Carville, speaking on CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper, emphasized that these numbers could be deceiving given Trump’s tendency to exceed expectations at the polls.

 

“Democrats are feeling better. It’s undeniable,” Carville said. “I see the polls and I remind people of a couple of things, Jake. First of all, most quants, and they’re better at this than I am, say that the vice president would have to win almost by three points in the popular vote to win the Electoral College. And I also would point out that when President Trump runs, he overperforms his polling averages. He did it in 2016. The national polls were actually pretty spot-on, but they didn’t pull weight in the states.”

 

Carville further highlighted the 2020 election as another example of Trump’s polling strength. “And then they pulled weight in the states in 2020, and you would have thought he was going to win these states by eight points. He didn’t. President Biden did no such thing,” he added. “People need to have some reality infused in their optimism. I’m glad that people are feeling better. I’m glad that people are excited. But anybody that looks at this with any sense of history, any sense of objectivity, sees that there’s plenty possible pitfalls that we’re faced with. And we need to acknowledge that and stop being giddy all the time.”


CNN’s Van Jones expressed similar concerns on Monday, noting his discomfort with the tight race between Trump and Harris, despite the vice president enjoying a wave of positive press coverage. Jones also mentioned that Harris could gain momentum in the polls following the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

 

“We don’t wanna be tied. I don’t like being tied with Donald Trump because we’ve had now 20-plus days of positive press. He’s been falling down the stairs, slipping on banana peels and poking himself in the eyeball. We should not be tied. We want to pull ahead,” Jones said. “That’s our opportunity this week.”

 

Meanwhile, a video by Sky News captured the views of Black male voters in Georgia who voiced support for Trump, citing his bold personality, business acumen, and economic performance. “Some people don’t like it, but I think he a smart businessman,” one voter said. “Some want to call him an a-hole but I think he an excellent a-hole.”

As the 2024 election draws nearer, both parties must navigate a highly competitive environment where small shifts could have significant impacts.

 

Some independent media outlets have suggested that corporate giants are in the pockets of the Democrats and are trying to give as much good press to Kamala Harris as possible to pull within punching distance of Donald Trump.

It’s possible that the corporate political data “experts” are sampling favorably for Kamala Harris and the Democrats to shore up the extremely negative press that they dealt with for the first seven months of the year until Joe Biden was forced out of his spot as the presumptive Democrat nominee for President.

 

Whether these Orwellian-like media controls are enough will be decided when Americans go to vote in November.

RFK Jr. Campaign May Join Forces With Trump or Form New Party, Running Mate Says:

The campaign of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. did not receive a fair chance at winning the election says his running mate Nicole Shanahan, leading the campaign to consider the option of forming a new party or joining forces with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

 

“I really wanted a fair shot at this election, and I believed in the America I as a little girl pledge allegiance to, and that is not where we are today,” Shanahan said in an interview with the Impact Theory podcast posted online Tuesday.

Shanahan, an entrepreneur and attorney, told the podcast host that the “tens of millions of dollars” she put into her own campaign wasn’t intended to make Kennedy a “spoiler” in the 2024 race.

“We wanted to win. We wanted a fair shot,” she said.

 

Given the challenges the campaign is facing, including what she described as being shadow-banned from social media platforms, kept off stages, and legal actions used against it, Shanahan said that it greatly diminishes the chances of a third-party campaign like Kennedy’s from winning. The campaign is now looking into two options.

“One is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Waltz presidency because we draw votes from Trump. We draw somehow more votes from Trump,” she said.

 

“Or we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump and we walk away from that and we explain to our base why we are making this decision,” Shanahan remarked. “Not an easy decision.”

Shanahan says in the interview that she believes Trump “has taken genuine, sincere interest in our policies around chronic disease; he takes it seriously.”

 

“The question we have to ask ourselves right now is, one, do we trust Trump and his personal sincerity to really do the right thing for our country, end chronic disease, balance the budget, end these forever wars. Is he somebody that’s going to continue to invite people like Bobby and I into the conversation, or is he going to fall victim again to things that he fell victim to in his first administration?”

 

If Kennedy decides to drop out of the race and endorse Trump, it’s not clear if his supporters would immediately back the former president. Some polls have suggested that the Democratic presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, could be stronger against Trump if Kennedy, who last year scrapped plans to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for president, remains in the contest.

 

The Epoch Times contacted Kennedy’s campaign for comment on Tuesday about Shanahan’s interview, which was conducted two days before Harris is slated to formally accept her party’s nomination in Chicago along with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, her running mate.

 

Kennedy’s campaign has faced a number of hurdles in recent days. While the Kennedy campaign says it has obtained enough signatures to be on the ballot in every U.S. state, a judge ruled that he cannot appear on ballots in New York due to disputed claims of his residency in the state.

 

Kennedy, the son of assassinated Sen. Robert Kennedy, dismissed the ruling as a biased attack. His campaign has vowed to appeal the ruling, describing it as “openly partisan,” according to a statement released on Aug. 12.

“They aren’t confident they can win at the ballot box, so they are trying to stop voters from having a choice,” he wrote in a statement posted on social media last week. “We will appeal and we will win.”

 

The campaign also highlighted that Kennedy received more than 1 million signatures to allow him to gain access to ballots nationwide.

But he faces similar legal challenges in other states, including in the key battleground states of Georgia and Pennsylvania. On Monday, challengers trying to get him off the ballot in Georgia told a judge Monday that the independent presidential candidate must be disqualified because the New York address he used on Georgia ballot access petitions is incorrect.

 

“The court found, by clear and convincing evidence that petitioners had shown that his New York residence was a sham used for political purposes,” lawyer Adam Sparks said after a Monday hearing in Atlanta. “He doesn’t live there. He claimed to on each and every sheet of his petition here in Georgia. That’s improper. It invalidates the petition, full stop.”

 

A lawyer for Kennedy presented Michael Malihi, an administrative law judge, with Kennedy’s voting history as evidence of his New York residency.

“Mr. Kennedy has been a lifelong resident of the state of New York,” lawyer Larry Otter said at the Monday hearing.

Musk has posted about the subject on his social media platform X at least eight times in the past 10 months, according to a review of his posts by NBC News. And his posts usually include a specific prediction: He thinks that Europe in particular is headed toward a “civil war” due to the arrival of refugees from other continents.

Musk’s interest in the subject of a civil war poked into public view earlier this month when he weighed in on anti-immigration street riots happening across Great Britain. “Civil war is inevitable,” he wrote on X.


The post received 9.8 million views and it caused a furor among some in the U.K., initiating a heated back and forth with the office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was dismissive of Musk’s prediction, saying there was “no justification” for such comments. Other U.K. critics said Musk was only inflaming tensions by making such a dire prediction.

 

Musk’s rhetoric is unheard-of for a corporate executive speaking in public, but the prediction of a civil war has become a frequent talking point among some far-right activists who view a civil war in Europe or the U.S. as not only unavoidable but also as something to be welcomed. “What you’re seeing in these calls for civil war is a white supremacist clarion call. It is a dog whistle,” said Jon Lewis, a research fellow at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism.

 

Musk has stopped short of issuing a call to arms and has not mentioned the race or religion of refugees arriving in Europe, but Lewis said that Musk doesn’t need to be explicit to get his message across. He said he sees similarities between Musk’s posts and the language in white supremacist chat rooms where commenters are obsessed with changing demographics.


“Rhetorically, there is very little difference, and at this point it’s barely coded language. It’s everything but explicit incitement,” he said.

“It’s only a matter of time, unfortunately, before someone listens,” he added, warning that Musk’s words could inspire violence by others.

 

Musk did not directly respond to questions about his civil war predictions in an email to NBC News.

Hyperbole about civil war is common on the far right. White nationalist Nick Fuentes said last year that Ireland was “on the brink of civil war” because of immigration, and followers of the “Boogaloo” anti-government movement have for years called explicitly for civil war.


The far-right’s rhetoric around a future civil war is part of a philosophical framework referred to as accelerationism. Extreme practitioners of the philosophy believe that stoking tensions around topics like immigration could lead to wars and hasten a larger societal collapse, creating an opportunity to reformulate society in a way that’s more favorable to extremists. A gunman who attacked a synagogue in Poway, California, in 2019 said his goal was to hasten the start of a “civil war” over religion, race and firearms. While some progressives also talk about dismantling existing systems, predictions of a civil war are less common on the left.

 

Katie Paul, who tracks online extremism as director of the nonprofit Tech Transparency Project, said that many Boogaloo adherents are now active on Musk’s app X after other social media apps kicked them off.

“They all share this interest in the dismantling of the systems that we currently live in,” Paul said.

 

Musk’s profile gives his civil war predictions unusual reach. One of the world’s wealthiest people as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, he is an increasingly influential media figure as the owner of X. On Monday, Musk hosted a conversation on X with former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, and he has invited Vice President Kamala Harris for a similar event. She has not accepted.


Musk has received encouragement on X for sharing the idea of a civil war, including from prominent figures. “Not inevitable…it’s underway,” wrote Michael Flynn, a former national security adviser in the Trump administration, in response to a tweet from Musk about civil war earlier this month. Flynn was pardoned by Trump after pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about his communications with a Russian diplomat. Flynn did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday about his civil war statement.

 

Musk has invoked the idea in relation to numerous conflicts. Last October, days after the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel, he responded to pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Europe with a call for reduced immigration onto the continent.


“If current trends continue, civil war in Europe is inevitable,” he said on X. It was a reply to Konstantin Kisin, an author, podcaster and Russian-born immigrant to the U.K.

Kisin responded to Musk: “Civil war implies someone will fight back. Based on current evidence, I’m not even sure that will happen.”

 

In a phone interview, Kisin said he does not favor fighting back in a literal sense, and he said it was “preposterous” for anyone to suggest that Musk’s prediction is a dog whistle that encourages violence.

“What Elon Musk is doing is pointing out the fact that Europe is moving in a particular direction on demographics, on economics, on multiculturalism, and these are all perfectly valid points,” he said.

 

Asked about his views on demographics, Kisin said that, with migration at current levels, “the inevitable outcome is inter-ethnic tension.”

Immigrants to Europe come from many places. In the U.K., four of the top five non-E.U. countries of origin are former British colonies, according to government statistics: India, Nigeria, Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

 

Musk repeated his forecast four times in October, writing that mass migration “lays the groundwork for civil strife, if not war”; that Europe “is trending towards civil war”; that Europe “is headed for civil war”; and again that it is “trending towards civil war.”
