Terrorism in Thornhill? An Iranian activist's boxing club is peppered with 17 bullets
I was scanning the radio dial on my way north of Toronto, listening for breaking news out of Thornhill.
You’d think a building being hit with 17 bullets at 3 a.m. might warrant a mention.
I didn’t hear a word.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Saliwan Boxing Club — operated by Iranian activist and boxing champion Salar Gholami — was riddled with gunfire. Seventeen shots shattered glass panes and tore through the front of the building.
Why? Well, consider the timing. Just hours earlier, it had been confirmed that Iran’s so-called “supreme leader,” Ali Khamenei, was killed in a joint U.S.–Israeli operation.
And this Thornhill boxing club isn’t just a gym, it’s a hub for Iranian Canadians organizing rallies and protests against the regime in Tehran.
Was it just a coincidence? Rebel News went to the scene.
When we arrived, shattered windows were being boarded up with plywood. Bullet holes were still visible in the remaining glass. Volunteers told us families, including children, had been in the club just hours earlier, celebrating after a pro-freedom rally.
Thankfully, no one was inside when the shots were fired.
But the message was clear.
For years, critics have warned that members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have been allowed to remain in Canada. It was the IRGC, after all, that shot down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 in 2020, killing 176 people, including 55 Canadian citizens.
So here we are. A politically active Iranian Canadian’s headquarters is shot up in the dead of night. 17 rounds fired. And the silence from much of the mainstream press is deafening.
Is this an isolated act of vandalism? Or something more organized, and more sinister?
If thugs thought they could scare these activists into silence, they miscalculated. Just hours later, many of them were back on the streets, rallying for a free Iran.

Jasmine Crockett’s Political Career takes BRUTAL TURN In Senate Primary Race
Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s bid to jump from the House to the Senate crashed Tuesday night after Texas state Rep. James Talarico beat her in the Democratic primary, according to The Associated Press.
Talarico, 36, a Democratic lawmaker with a fast-rising national profile, now advances to the general election in a state Democrats haven’t won at the Senate level in nearly four decades. He will face the winner of a bruising Republican runoff between Sen. John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
The Texas contest is one of the marquee Senate races of the cycle and could help decide whether Republicans keep control of the chamber. The GOP currently holds a 53-47 majority.
Crockett, 44, entered the race as a progressive firebrand and one of President Donald Trump’s loudest Capitol Hill critics. Democrats and national media routinely cast her as a rising star. But inside Texas, her style proved polarizing, and the final stretch of the primary turned into a referendum on electability, identity politics and the party’s future in a right-leaning state.
In the closing weeks, the Crockett-Talarico battle got ugly, with race becoming a central issue.
Talarico, who is White, was accused a month ago by an influencer of calling former Rep. Colin Allred, a previous contender for the nomination, a “mediocre Black man.”
Morgan Thompson, the influencer known as @morga_tt on TikTok, claimed Talarico told her in a private conversation that he had “signed up to run against a mediocre Black man, not a formidable, intelligent, Black woman.”
Talarico denied the allegation and pushed back publicly.
“In my praise of Congresswoman Crockett, I described Congressman Allred’s method of campaigning as mediocre — but his life and service are not. I would never attack him on the basis of race,” he said in a statement.
Allred, the party’s 2024 Senate nominee, responded with his own warning shot.
“James, if you want to compliment Black women, just do it. Just do it. Don’t do it while also tearing down a Black man,” Allred said in a video.
Crockett leaned into the controversy, saying Allred “drew a line in the sand.” She later accused a Talarico-aligned super PAC of darkening her skin tone in an ad and called it “straight up racist.”
She also argued that criticism of her statewide electability was a “dog whistle” that was “tearing down a Black woman,” insisting she was the “most qualified” candidate.
Talarico’s campaign took the opposite approach, leaning hard on a pitch Democrats rarely make in Texas: he said he can win over Republican voters. He highlighted his past win flipping a red district in northeast Austin and its suburbs, and he questioned whether Crockett could run a competitive general election campaign outside deep-blue pockets.
Talarico also had money and momentum. He outraised and outspent Crockett in the final two months and used his growing celebrity to dominate the media oxygen. His viral social media clips, TikTok presence and appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast boosted his reach far beyond Texas political circles. Rogan even suggested Talarico should run for president.
Crockett’s loss is a major setback for Democrats who saw her as a national messenger against Trump. Instead, Texas Democrats picked a younger candidate with a calmer public image and a clear argument that the party cannot win statewide by simply energizing the base.
Now Talarico heads into a general election where Democrats haven’t broken through in decades, and where Republicans will be eager to tie him to the national party’s most unpopular positions, regardless of the primary’s outcome.

Supreme Court sides with parents, blocks California law hiding children's gender transitions from families

The Supreme Court cleared the way Monday for California schools to notify parents if their children identify as transgender, granting an emergency appeal from the Thomas More Society and blocking a state law that banned automatic parental notification when students change their pronouns or gender expression at school.
The ruling is straightforward in principle: parents have a right to know what's happening with their kids. That California ever passed a law designed to prevent that tells you everything about where the state's priorities lie.
What the Court Did
According to AP News, the high court's majority reinstated a lower-court order blocking the law and related school policies while the case continues to play out. Two sets of Catholic parents, represented by the Thomas More Society, brought the challenge on religious liberty grounds. The unsigned majority order laid it out plainly:
The parents who assert a free exercise claim have sincere religious beliefs about sex and gender, and they feel a religious obligation to raise their children in accordance with those beliefs. California's policies violate those beliefs.
The Thomas More Society called the decision "the most significant parental rights ruling in a generation."
Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas noted they would have gone further, granting the appeal of teachers who also sought to lift the restrictions. That two justices wanted a broader ruling signals where the Court's appetite may be heading on these questions.
California's Upside-Down Priorities
Think about what this law actually required. Schools were forbidden from telling a mother or father that their child had adopted a new identity at school. Not discouraged. Forbidden. The state inserted itself between parent and child, and it did so by design.
Governor Gavin Newsom's office defended the law and accused the Court of forcing schools "to be gender cops." The irony is breathtaking.
The state passed a law compelling schools to conceal information from parents, and when the Court says schools can be transparent, Sacramento calls that policing. The law itself was the enforcement mechanism. The Court simply removed the gag order.
Newsom spokesperson Marissa Saldivar said the ruling "undermines student privacy and the ability to learn in a safe and supportive classroom, free from discrimination based on gender identity."
Student privacy, in this framing, means keeping secrets from the people legally responsible for the student. A ten-year-old can't sign a permission slip for a field trip, but California believed that same child's decision to change pronouns at school should be shielded from parental knowledge.
The Dissent
The Court's three liberal justices publicly dissented. Justice Elena Kagan wrote:
If nothing else, this Court owes it to a sovereign State to avoid throwing over its policies in a slapdash way, if the Court can provide normal procedures. And throwing over a State's policy is what the Court does today.
Kagan's objection is procedural, not substantive. She frames this as a matter of respect for state sovereignty. But state sovereignty has never been an unlimited license to override parental rights. States cannot pass laws barring parents from their children's medical records. They cannot hide report cards. The question is not whether California is sovereign. It's whether sovereignty extends to building a wall of secrecy between families.
A Growing Pattern
This ruling does not exist in isolation. The California order comes months after the Court upheld state bans on gender-identity-related healthcare for minors. The Court also rebuffed a similar case out of Wisconsin in December, but Alito at that time called the school policies at issue "an issue of great and growing national importance."
The Trump administration found in January that California's policies violated parents' right to access their children's education records. The Justice Department also sued after determining that states' transgender athlete policies violate federal civil rights law. Cases out of states like Massachusetts and Florida are also working through the system.
The trajectory is clear. Across multiple fronts, the legal consensus is shifting back toward parental authority and away from the idea that schools and state bureaucracies are better custodians of children's identities than their own families.
The Real Question
The left frames parental notification as a threat to children. The underlying assumption is that parents are the danger, that families are hostile environments from which children need bureaucratic protection. It's a remarkable inversion. The state isn't stepping in because of abuse allegations or neglect findings. It's stepping in because a child expressed a gender identity, and Sacramento decided mom and dad couldn't be trusted with that information.
That assumption poisons everything it touches. It transforms schools from institutions that serve families into institutions that replace them. It tells children that the adults in the building know better than the adults at home. And it does all of this without a single finding that any particular parent poses any particular risk.
The Supreme Court, for now, has put a stop to it. The case will continue to play out in the lower courts. But the signal from the majority is unmistakable: the Constitution still has something to say about the right of parents to raise their own children.
Sacramento built a wall between parents and their kids. The Court just put a door in it.

Turkey - Iran, the hidden story!
Iran hit US bases in Iraq. Hit bases in Kuwait. Hit bases in Qatar. Hit bases in Bahrain. Hit bases in the UAE. Hit bases in Jordan. Hit bases in Saudi Arabia. Hit Oman’s Duqm port. Hit British RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. Fired missiles at Israel.
It did not touch Turkey.
Incirlik Air Base, one of America’s most important forward platforms in the Middle East, sits in southern Turkey. Kürecik base houses a NATO radar that feeds intelligence to Israel. NATO AWACS aircraft from the Konya base shifted routes from Russia to Iran days before the strikes, per Bloomberg. Turkey hosts an unspecified number of US troops across multiple sensitive installations.
Iran hit none of them.
The standard explanation is NATO. Article 5 collective defense. Striking Turkey means war with 32 nations. Al-Monitor quoted Ankara University’s Arif Keskin: a direct military move against Turkey could push the conflict beyond manageable limits.
That explanation is real but incomplete.
Reuters reported in January 2026 that Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization, the MIT, warned Iran’s Revolutionary Guards about Kurdish fighters seeking to cross from Iraq into Iranian territory. That is a NATO member passing time-sensitive operational intelligence to the IRGC during a period when the United States and Israel were preparing to strike Iran.
In January 2026, Erdogan congratulated Iranian President Pezeshkian for his handling of the December protests, echoing Tehran’s narrative that the demonstrations were foreign-backed terrorist plots linked to Israel. The Foundation for Defense of Democracies documented this. When the strikes came on February 28,
Erdogan condemned the US and Israeli attacks as a clear violation of international law, expressed deep sorrow for Khamenei’s death, and offered condolences to the Iranian people. He denied US forces access to Turkish air, land, and maritime space for operations against Iran.
Then Turkey arrested three journalists for national security offenses over footage filmed near Incirlik.
Israel Hayom published the most direct assessment: Turkey is not neutral. It is enabling Iran. Operating from within the Western security system, Ankara functions as a strategic enabler for Tehran. The US Treasury has sanctioned Turkey-based entities tied to Iranian sanctions evasion, the Revolutionary Guards, and Iran’s drone and missile programs.
The deeper mechanism is structural fear. Turkey shares a 534-kilometer border with Iran. Fifteen million Kurds live inside Iran. If the Islamic Republic collapses, Turkey faces a refugee crisis dwarfing Syria, Kurdish state formation across its southeastern border, and the loss of gas contracts expiring mid-2026. Erdogan does not need Iran to win. He needs the regime to survive.
So, Iran spares Turkey. And Turkey condemns the war while hosting the surveillance infrastructure that enabled it.
To Washington, the indispensable NATO platform. To Europe, the migration buffer. To Russia, the energy corridor. To China, the western anchor of the Middle Corridor. To Tehran, the quiet ally who will never let the regime fall.
The most dangerous player in this war is not the one firing missiles. It is the one that made itself untouchable by everyone simultaneously.

The common refrain of financial advisers the world over is likely ringing in the ears of President Lee Jae Myung following a shock 12% plunge in South Korea’s stock market today — its biggest selloff yet — on the back of the fallout from the Iran war.
Lee, a former day trader, invested much of his political capital into making equities a measure of his success. His pledge to push the benchmark KOSPI index past the 5,000 mark appeared to pay off when he achieved that in February, less than a year into his four-year term.
Turmoil in the Middle East now threatens to burst that bubble. Even if equities bounce back, confidence in the resilience of Korea’s extraordinary stock surge is unlikely to fully return.
To be fair, Lee’s focus on the Kospi index ranged beyond the simple idea of what is good for tech giant Samsung is good for Korea, as he tried to wean the country off its long-standing dependence on real estate and into assets like stocks.

The problem is that it went a bit too well, amplified by a global artificial-intelligence rally that boosted South Korea’s chipmakers.
