Early on in their development, caring parents teach their children the phrase “stranger danger.” It’s not that Mom and Dad are paranoid or afraid of everybody, just cautious and safe. Spiritually speaking, adults should adopt that same level of caution.
When new people come into our lives, getting to know their doctrine is wise before we form spiritual bonds. It is essential to be on guard because false teachers don’t say, “Hey, I’m here to lead you astray.” Heresy never presents itself like that. It’s more like a virus—small, easily shared, and sometimes deadly.
Viruses need a living organism to survive, making every human just another opportunity to covertly infiltrate, duplicate, and dominate. Once inside, a virus hijacks the host’s cells and spreads its infection—a tactic that resembles that of false teachers. It’s an ugly word picture, but an effective one.
Doctors say washing your hands is the easiest way to ward off a virus. Water won’t dilute the pathogen, but it doesn’t allow it to stick. Likewise, if you saturate yourself in the whole counsel of God, deception will not take hold. You can fight off false doctrine by cleansing your mind and heart with the pure water of God’s Word. Read it, study it, memorize it, pray it into your life, and keep yourself spiritually strong by discussing what you’ve learned with like-minded believers.
Be cautious and wise, and you’ll recognize false teaching for what it is—an attack upon the health of your soul.

Authority is Nothing but Fancy Clothes...
“If people were paid according to how hard they work, the richest people on earth would be the ones digging ditches with a shovel in the hot summertime.”
That’s what my mother told me when I was a boy. When she saw the puzzled look on my face, she continued.
“People who make a lot of money are paid according to the weight of the responsibility they carry and the quality of the decisions they make.”
Second only to grief, the weight of responsibility is the heaviest burden that a person can carry. Compared to those, a shovel full of dirt feels as light as feathers on a windy day.
When forced to choose between two evils, it brings a good person no joy to choose the lesser evil. Fewer people will be hurt, but the pain those people feel will be real.
A person who is not wounded by the pain they cause others is a sociopath.
Authority is power, and power is attractive. Tear away the tinsel. Scrape away the glitter and you will see that authority is just a fancy costume. You wear it when you are about to cause someone pain.
Every good person in authority has scars on their heart, memories of the pain they know they have caused others.
Sociopaths don’t care about the pain of others. They crave authority because they are weak, and the fancy costume lets them pretend they are strong.
Things get ugly when a sociopath has power.

A person in authority who lacks compassion is a very small person wearing a badge.
As a young man, I admired cleverness. But I have lived enough years and cried enough tears that now I see the world differently. Today, I admire goodness. This shift in perspective helped me understand what Viktor Frankl wrote in his book, “Man’s Search for Meaning.”
“Freedom is only part of the story and half of the truth… In fact, freedom is in danger of degenerating into mere arbitrariness unless it is lived in terms of responsibleness. That is why I recommend that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast.”
Viktor Frankl was a medical doctor, a psychologist, and a survivor of the holocaust. He was imprisoned in four different concentration camps: Theresienstadt, Auschwitz where his mother was murdered, Dachau, and then Türkheim.
Viktor Frankl believed in freedom, but he refused to see it as a license to do whatever you want. To him, freedom without responsibility was an idiotic idea.
Isabella Bird was a well-educated woman who left Victorian England to explore the world in 1854.
When she arrived in the United States in 1873, she bought a horse and rode alone more than 800 miles to Colorado. In her book, “A Lady’s Life in the Rocky Mountains,” (1879), Isabella wrote,
“In America the almighty dollar is the true divinity, and its worship is universal. ‘Smartness’ is the quality thought most of. The boy who ‘gets on’ by cheating at his lessons is praised for being a ‘smart boy,’ and his satisfied parents foretell that he will make a ‘great man.'”
“A man who overreaches his neighbor, but who does it so cleverly that the law cannot take hold of him, wins an envied reputation as a ‘smart man,’ and stories of this species of ‘smartness’ are told admiringly ’round every stove. Smartness is but the initial stage of swindling, and the clever swindler who evades or defies the weak and often corruptly administered laws of the States, excites unmeasured adoration among the masses.”
These are the thoughts of people who have lived a lot of years and cried a lot of tears.
I offer these thoughts to you merely as food for thought.

Access to Information records show that Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, and “quite a few” other COVID pandemic managers had to sign the pledge, as noted by Blacklock’s Reporter.
An internal staff email sent in 2020 from Alan Thom, vaccine supply manager with the Public Health Agency, showed he complained that so many managers had to take an oath of secrecy “at a certain point the Department of Public Works determined individual non-disclosure agreements were no longer needed for federal employees as we are all covered through our responsibilities as public servants.”
In total, 29 managers signed the oath with the Public Health Agency and Departments of Foreign Affairs, Health, Industry and National Defence.

Donald Trump is heading to the Gulf chasing business with a coterie of executives while juggling a dizzying number of geopolitical deals.
The US today hailed progress in easing reciprocal trade tariffs with China. That’s after taking credit for a weekend truce between India and Pakistan.
Negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program were meanwhile described as encouraging, and the potential release of the last living American hostage in Gaza presages the restart of negotiations for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
Then there’s the prospect that Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskiy might face each other as the US president pushes both sides to stop fighting.
“MAKE IT HAPPEN NOW,” Trump shouted on Truth Social. And there lies the problem.
Trump wants it done quickly, preferably all at once. But rushed deals may not stick, and there are questions over who benefits. Yet the banging-of-heads approach is yielding something.
It’s a complex picture, with many actors. Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is standing by to host Ukraine-Russia talks this week. The Middle East is in the mix with the likes of Egypt and Qatar playing important supporting roles. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, due to welcome Trump on his first scheduled overseas trip (he attended Pope Francis’ funeral) of his second term tomorrow, is center stage.
Beyond the business deals and opulence – viz the luxury jet that Qatar apparently wants to gift him – Trump longs for that Nobel peace prize.
But there are compelling reasons why these myriad conflicts don’t have easy fixes. Putin has form in playing the long game and isn’t trusted by Kyiv. India’s annoyance at Trump’s ceasefire announcement shows the risks of racing to claim credit too quickly, while Israel’s made clear it’s not committed to any truce with Hamas for the hostage release and in any case has its own ideas on Iran and Gaza.

The US and China will temporarily lower reciprocal tariffs on products traded between the world’s two largest economies to allow three months of further negotiations, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent saying today that talks in Geneva had established “neither side wants to decouple.” Markets leapt on signs of de-escalation in the trade war, with combined 145% US levies on most Chinese imports to be reduced to 30%, including the rate tied to fentanyl by Wednesday, while 125% Chinese duties on US goods will drop to 10%.
The immediate task for the de-facto Saudi Arabia leader as he prepares to host Trump this week is how to reconcile the US president’s desire for deals with the potential further deterioration in Riyadh’s budget because of oil prices falling to their lowest in more than four years. The crown prince, known as MBS, wants to make himself the Middle East’s go-to man, while Trump has boasted of inking $1 trillion worth of Saudi investment and trade for US firms.
Trump’s announcement on Truth Social that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE” left many top officials in New Delhi seething as it appeared to undermine their longstanding policy to resolve the Kashmir territorial dispute through bilateral talks and, perhaps worst of all, put the sworn enemies on an equal footing. Stocks in Pakistan and India rallied following Saturday’s truce between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
The PKK Kurdish separatist group agreed to lay down arms to end a 40-year war for autonomy against Turkey, a historic step that could strengthen the NATO member’s push to become a regional powerhouse. Erdoğan has made resolving the Kurdish conflict a central aim as he seeks to reshape the Middle East while strengthening his domestic support.
Millions of Philippine voters braved temperatures of up to 44C (111F) to vote in midterm elections that could decide the fate of impeached Vice President Sara Duterte as she feuds with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. There were long queues to cast ballots in over 18,000 positions, with one reported fatality and nationwide heat warnings.

Duties on imported cars and auto parts forced General Motors to slash its full-year profit guidance by as much as $5 billion, while Ford is bracing for a $1.5 billion annual hit; Tokyo-based Toyota sees a $1.2 billion profit drop in just two months. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said Japan won’t accept any initial trade agreement with the US that excludes an accord on autos.

The Trump administration is likely to accept a luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from Qatar’s royal family, in what may be the most valuable gift received from a foreign government to date, ABC News reported. The aircraft is to be used as Air Force One and the gift is expected to be announced this week when Trump visits Qatar as part of his Middle East tour.

New York Attorney General Letitia James has alleged that members of President Trump's administration are targeting her as retribution for a legal victory she secured against Trump and his associates.
The New York Post reported that James claims political motivations are behind a criminal investigation initiated against her following a significant legal judgment against Donald Trump.
NY Attorney General James announced these allegations during a rally hosted by Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network in Harlem.
Speaking on May 3, she claimed her privacy has been compromised by individuals surveilling her home, especially during sensitive times like attending church services. "They were in front of my house, taking pictures, and then streaming it on social media," she declared, emphasizing that this was not random.
Claims of Retaliation Surface Amid Ongoing Investigation
James has been placed under scrutiny by the Department of Justice over alleged mortgage fraud tied to her Brooklyn and Norfolk, Virginia properties.
According to the investigation, accusations involve her falsifying records about these properties. William Pulte, a Trump appointee and head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, requested the probe's initiation.
The allegations suggest James provided misleading information about her Brooklyn property unit count and misrepresented her Norfolk property as her principal residence.
James argues that this investigation is an unjust retaliation linked to the $454 million judgment she won against Trump, his family, and his business interests.
She attributes this legal action as a reason for the alleged harassment, stating, "This isn’t nothing more than a revenge tour!" The Department of Justice and the White House have, so far, refrained from commenting on this developing story.
Representing Letitia James, attorney Abbe David Lowell has dismissed the charges as "baseless and discredited."
