Psalm 84:1-2

“How lovely is Your tabernacle, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” 

The Jewish temple was striking, but it was yet to come, and the outside coverings of the tabernacle could hardly be called lovely. What enflamed the psalmist’s heart was found within its confines—the place where man and God could meet. 

The soul’s hunger for the Lord cannot be satisfied by anything less than His presence. The Hebrew word translated “faint” means to be consumed with longing; a longing so intense that a person becomes pale in color. So deep, so passionate was David’s yearning that he would have readily become a courtier if it allowed him to be in the courts of Jehovah. 

David said his flesh cried out for the living God, yet not flesh as the apostle Paul used the term. For in that flesh, our skin, no good thing dwells. What the “sweet psalmist of Israel” expressed concerned the whole of his nature, “My soul, my heart, and my flesh.” The combination of his entire manhood—body, soul, and spirit—was moved to such a degree that a cry emanating from the depths of his being could be its only expression.

There are those who are prodded or coerced to enter a church’s sanctuary doors, only to go through the motions of religion. Unlike David, God is not the object of their desire or worship. “My heart and flesh cry out for the living God.”That is worship. That is the privilege of every real child of God.

NEW YORK — A federal judge on Monday denied the Justice Department’s effort to unseal grand jury material in the Ghislaine Maxwell case, calling the “entire premise” of the government’s move “demonstrably false.”

U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer, in a 31-page decision, chided the Justice Department for its bid to make the material public because, he said, the public would learn virtually nothing new from the documents and “would come away feeling disappointed and misled.”

“Insofar as the motion to unseal implies that the grand jury materials are an untapped mine lode of undisclosed information about Epstein or Maxwell or confederates, they definitively are not that,” Engelmayer, an Obama appointee, wrote. “There is no ‘there’ there.”

Kerstin Wüstner, a psychology professor at Berlin School of Economics and Law reports that despite widespread vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic and rising reports of lingering post-vaccine health issues—commonly referred to as post-COVID-19 vaccination syndrome (PCVS)—there is a surprising lack of scientific research on patient experience, particularly in Germany. This study sought to determine what peer-reviewed research exists on PCVS and assess the broader implications of its apparent absence.

Study Design and Method

This was a qualitative literature review and critical commentary. The author conducted a systematic search across four major academic databases—BASE, PubMed, Google Scholar, and PsycINFO—using search terms related to PCVS and patient experience. The final search, completed on September 27, 2024, filtered out articles not directly focused on patient experience related to PCVS. Non-peer-reviewed public discourse and commentary from online physician platforms (e.g., DocCheck) were also examined for illustrative purposes. The study adhered to open science standards and was conducted without external funding or institutional bias.

Findings

The literature search revealed a striking vacuum: no peer-reviewed studies were found that directly examined the lived experience of PCVS patients in Germany. TrialSite News (TSN) has reported on this reality throughout the pandemic.

This stands in contrast to robust literature on "long COVID," vaccine safety, and adverse events of special interest (AESIs) such as myocarditis, thrombosis, and autoimmune phenomena.

The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut had received over 1,500 PCVS-related reports—including references to myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and post-exertional malaise—but systematic clinical research on these patients was absent.

Instead, patient voices appeared primarily in the media, where individuals described symptoms such as chronic fatigue, dizziness, neurological dysfunction, and cardiovascular disturbances.

Yet even here, coverage was sporadic. Public and professional discourse often minimized PCVS or cast doubt on its legitimacy, with some physicians attributing symptoms to psychological factors, hypochondria, or misinformation.

As TSN reported vaccine injured patients often experienced the action known as gaslighting, a form of psychological manipulation where someone is made to doubt their own sanity, perceptions, or memory.

An analysis of commentary on medical forums revealed a polarized and, at times, stigmatizing atmosphere, with some professionals dismissing PCVS sufferers and others acknowledging the lack of support they face.

Despite more than 11,000 German citizens applying for vaccine injury compensation, and 467 cases officially recognized as of early 2024, most remain unresolved or denied. The disconnect between political rhetoric promoting vaccine safety and patients’ lived experience was highlighted as a major driver of distress, alienation, and loss of trust.

Study Limitations

• The study relied on secondary search engine data, excluding certain paywalled or region-specific research repositories.

• No original patient interviews were conducted; findings were based on literature review and analysis of public discourse.

• The inclusion of non-scientific sources (e.g., online physician forums and news media) introduces potential bias and lacks clinical verification.

• Only English-language search terms were used, which may have missed relevant German-language studies, though most academic work in Germany is published in English.

Funding and Disclosure

The author reported no funding and declared no conflicts of interest. No datasets were generated or analyzed during this study.

Conclusion and Implications

Despite widespread reports of adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination and thousands of patients reporting persistent symptoms, Germany—and much of the scientific world—has failed to produce research on the lived experience of those affected by post-COVID-19 vaccination syndrome.

This silence represents more than a scientific oversight; it reflects systemic biases, political discomfort, and institutional inertia. Patients experiencing PCVS often face skepticism, delayed care, and stigmatization, deepening their suffering and undermining public trust.

The implications are urgent. Without a scientific understanding of PCVS—its frequency, mechanisms, and treatment needs—affected individuals are marginalized, and vaccine safety oversight remains incomplete. Public health credibility requires not only robust data collection but also the ethical obligation to listen. Wüstner calls for immediate investment in PCVS research, healthcare infrastructure to support affected patients, and a more transparent and humane public health dialogue.
