U.S. President Donald Trump said in an 8-minute video posted on his Truth Social that the U.S. has begun “major combat operations in Iran.”

U.S. President Donald Trump said in an 8-minute video posted on his Truth Social that the U.S. has begun “major combat operations in Iran.” He claimed Iran has continued to develop its nuclear program and plans to develop missiles to reach U.S. and appealed to the Iranian people to “take over your government.”


Here’s Trump’s address in full:

A short time ago, the United States military began major combat operations in Iran. Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime. A vicious group of very hard, terrible people. Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world.


For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted Death to America and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder, targeting the United States, our troops and the innocent people in many, many countries. Among the regime’s very first acts was to back a violent takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, holding dozens of American hostages for 444 days. In 1983, Iran’s proxies carried out the marine barracks bombing in Beirut that killed 241 American military personnel.


In 2000, they knew and were probably involved with the attack on the USS Cole. Many died. Iranian forces killed and maimed hundreds of American service members in Iraq. The regime’s proxies have continued to launch countless attacks against American forces stationed in the Middle East in recent years, as well as U.S. naval and commercial vessels and international shipping lines. It’s been mass terror, and we’re not going to put up with it any longer.


From Lebanon to Yemen and Syria to Iraq, the regime has armed, trained and funded terrorist militias that have soaked the earth with blood and guts. And it was Iran’s proxy, Hamas, that launched the monstrous Oct. 7 attacks on Israel, slaughtering more than 1,000 innocent people, including 46 Americans, while taking 12 of our citizens hostage. It was brutal, something like the world has never seen before.


Iran is the world’s number one state sponsor of terror, and just recently killed tens of thousands of its own citizens on the street as they protested. It has always been the policy of the United States, in particular my administration, that this terrorist regime can never have a nuclear weapon. I’ll say it again, they can never have a nuclear weapon.


That is why in Operation Midnight Hammer last June, we obliterated the regime’s nuclear program at Fort Doe, Natanz and Isfahan. After that attack, we warned them never to resume their malicious pursuit of nuclear weapons, and we sought repeatedly to make a deal. We tried. They wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. Again they wanted to do it. They didn’t want to do it. They didn’t know what was happening. They just wanted to practice evil. But Iran refused, just as it has for decades and decades.


They’ve rejected every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions, and we can’t take it anymore. Instead, they attempted to rebuild their nuclear program and to continue developing the long range missiles that can now threaten our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops stationed overseas, and could soon reach the American homeland. Just imagine how emboldened this regime would be if they ever had, and actually were armed with nuclear weapons as a means to deliver their message.


For these reasons, the United States military is undertaking a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this very wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests. We’re going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally again obliterated. We’re going to annihilate their navy. We’re going to ensure that the region’s terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or the world and attack our forces, and no longer use their IEDs, or roadside bombs as they are sometimes called, to so gravely wound and kill thousands and thousands of people, including many Americans. And we will ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon. It’s a very simple message. They will never have a nuclear weapon.


This regime will soon learn that no one should challenge the strength and might of the United States Armed Forces. I built and rebuilt our military in my first administration and there is no military on earth even close to its power, strength or sophistication. My administration is taking every possible step to minimize the risk to U.S. personnel in the region. Even so, and I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill.


The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties. That often happens in war. But we’re doing this not for now. We’re doing this for the future. And it is a noble mission. We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans and our children will never be threatened by a nuclear-armed Iran. We ask God to protect all of our heroes in harm’s way. And we trust that with his help, the men and women of the armed forces will prevail. We have the greatest in the world, and they will prevail.


To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, the armed forces and all of the police, I say tonight that you must lay down your weapons and have complete immunity. Or in the alternative, face certain death. So, lay down your arms. You will be treated fairly with total immunity, or you will face certain death. Finally, to the great proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations.


For many years, you have asked for America’s help. But you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want. So let’s see how you respond. America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force. Now is the time to seize control of your destiny, and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach. This is the moment for action. Do not let it pass.


May God bless the brave men and women of America’s armed forces. May God bless the United States of America. May God bless you all. Thank you.

Israel launched a daylight attack Saturday on Iran's capital, with a cloud of smoke rising from the city's downtown.


The latest:

The U.S. and Israel launched an attack Saturday on Iran, with the first apparent strike happening near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In Tehran, multiple blasts were heard, while Iranian media reported strikes were happening nationwide.


U.S. President Donald Trump said in a video posted on social media that the U.S. had begun "major combat operations in Iran."

He claimed Iran has continued to develop its nuclear program and plans to develop missiles to reach U.S. and appealed to the Iranian people to "take over your government — it will be yours to take."


Trump acknowledged that there could be American casualties following Iran strikes, saying "that often happens in war."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the joint attack was to "remove an existential threat posed" by Iran.


"Our joint operation will create the conditions for the brave Iranian people to take their fate into their own hands," Netanyahu said.

Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard says it responded by launching a "first wave" of drones and missiles targeting Israel.


In Israel, the military said it had engaged its air defence systems to bring down retaliatory Iranian fire. However, explosions were reported in northern Israel.

In Bahrain, the state news agency says a missile attack targeted the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet headquarters in the island kingdom.. The agency added it will give further details later.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the 86-year-old Khamenei was in his offices at the time of the strike. He hasn't been seen publicly in days as tensions with the United States have grown.


The attack comes as the United States has assembled a vast fleet of fighter jets and warships in the region to try to pressure Iran into a deal over its nuclear program.

Autopsy: GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales' former staffer was intoxicated before fatal self-immolation in Uvalde

Regina Ann Santos-Aviles, the former Regional District Director for Republican Texas Rep. Tony Gonzales, had a blood alcohol content of 0.094% when she doused herself in liquid and set herself on fire in the backyard of her Uvalde, Texas home in September 2025. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death a suicide.


The autopsy report, obtained by the Daily Caller, confirms what surveillance footage already showed: Santos-Aviles poured liquid on herself and ignited it. She suffered burns to nearly 100% of her body. The toxicology results also detected a prescribed dose of an amphetamine in her system. For reference, 0.08% BAC is considered legally intoxicated in Texas, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Santos-Aviles was above that threshold.

A woman is dead. That fact should anchor everything that follows.


The Messages and the Man

Following Santos-Aviles' death, text messages surfaced allegedly showing Gonzales pressing the staffer for explicit imagery and information. The San Antonio Express-News first reported on the messages. When Gonzales was asked on Feb. 24 whether the alleged messages were authentic, he declined to answer.

What he did say was this:


I am not going to resign, I work everyday for the people of Texas.

He followed that with a promise:

And there will be opportunity for all the details and facts to come out. What you have seen is not all the facts.


That's a man buying time, not clearing his name. "Not all the facts" is not a denial. It's not even close to one. If the messages are fabricated, say so. If they're missing context, provide it. Telling people to wait while refusing to answer the only question that matters is not transparency. It's a holding pattern.


The Calls Are Coming from Inside the Caucus

The pressure on Gonzales isn't coming from Democrats or the media. It's coming from his own side. Republican Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, and Nancy Mace of South Carolina have all called for his immediate resignation.


That's a significant list. These aren't backbenchers angling for cable news hits. These are members of the Republican conference telling a colleague, publicly, that he needs to go.

Speaker Mike Johnson, for his part, has taken a more cautious posture. He told reporters Monday he doesn't think "it's time" to call for Gonzales to step down, adding:

I think we have to wait for more of the facts to come out.


By Tuesday morning, Johnson said he plans to meet with Gonzales amid the growing calls for his resignation. The Speaker's instinct to let the process play out is understandable. But the longer Gonzales stonewalls on simple yes-or-no questions about message authenticity, the harder that patience becomes to justify.


The Primary That Was Already Brewing

Gonzales was already politically vulnerable before any of this became public. He faces a Republican primary on March 3, and his challenger is Brandon Herrera, a Second Amendment activist and YouTube commentator. Herrera is the same challenger Gonzales narrowly defeated in a 2024 GOP runoff.


That earlier race was close enough to signal dissatisfaction within the district. Now, with an autopsy report in the public record and unanswered questions about his conduct toward a subordinate who is no longer alive to speak for herself, Gonzales enters that primary in a fundamentally different position.


Voters in Texas' district don't need Washington to tell them what to do. They'll have their say on March 3. But the facts available to them now are far more damning than anything Herrera could have put in a campaign ad.


What Accountability Looks Like

There's a tendency in Washington to treat scandals like weather events: wait long enough, and they pass. Sometimes that's true. But the details here resist that logic.

A woman who worked for Gonzales is dead. She died in the most horrific way imaginable. Text messages allegedly tying the congressman to inappropriate conduct with that same woman have surfaced. And the congressman's response, so far, has been to decline direct questions and insist he won't resign.


Conservatives rightly demand accountability from institutions, from bureaucrats who abuse their positions, from leaders who exploit the trust placed in them. That standard doesn't bend based on party registration. If the facts vindicate Gonzales, he should welcome scrutiny, not dodge it. If they don't, no primary election should have to do the work that personal responsibility was supposed to handle.

Regina Ann Santos-Aviles burned alive in her own backyard. She was 100% of the way gone before anyone could intervene. The least the living owe her is the truth.

London-based brewery becomes one of the first private-sector partners in Ontario Corps

The Ontario government is expanding its emergency response network by adding Labatt Breweries of Canada as its first private-sector partner.

The London-based company has joined the Ontario Corps, a provincial program that connects volunteers and organizations to support communities during natural disasters.

“Now more than ever, we need all hands on deck to respond to extreme weather events and other emergencies,” said Emergency Preparedness and Response Minister Jill Dunlop.


The expansion comes after a year marked by a major ice storm and widespread wildfires that stretched emergency resources across the province. Provincial officials say Ontario Corps is designed to supplement municipal capacity when local resources are overwhelmed.


Ontario Corps expands after first year of deployments

Ontario Corps was first announced in December 2024 as a province-wide network of volunteers and skilled professionals that can be deployed during emergencies.

Since then, more than 3,000 individuals have signed up to volunteer through the program, according to the minister.

Municipalities request assistance through the Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response when they determine additional help is needed.


“We work closely with our municipalities when they feel that they are at capacity and need extra resources brought in,” Dunlop said. “We can then reach out to Ontario Corps partners to help fill in the gaps where they may need additional support.”
