This Video Was So Upsetting
Last year I was sent a video from India of a boy being beaten simply because he was drinking water from a well that belonged to a different caste. The boy was of the Dalits, the lowest people group in India, the untouchables.
The video was very upsetting. You can watch it below, but please use discretion.
The man who sent me the video said, “If you give these children one of your books, they will be forever grateful. It will be their prized possession because it may be the only gift they ever receive.”
After watching the video, I committed to helping Dalit children. I didn’t know where to begin. I didn’t know how to reach the Dalit children. I just prayed.
Today I am excited to report that we have reached out to 20,000 Dalit children because of the response to this video! That is only a drop in the bucket of the tens of millions of Dalit children who exist, but it’s a start. We gave each one The Real Story of Jesus illustrated storybook, its companion coloring book, and colored pencils in their languages of Hindi and Telugu.

And we have received so many encouraging testimonies, including many from children who were rescued from the slave trade and are now learning about the love of Jesus!
I just learned all the storybooks and coloring books we printed have been distributed. We are out of stock, and more requests are pouring in.

There are many ways to help these children. They need good food, clothes, and medical care. And they also need to know Jesus loves them. And this is our call, to share The Real Story of Jesus in their native languages.
When you think about helping children, an illustrated storybook and coloring book may not be the first things that come to mind. But we have been told that the coloring books are so therapeutic for the children. The older children will often sit and color with the younger children as they explain the Gospel!

Second worst is highly drug-resistant gonorrhea, associated with "travel-related sexual contact" which could be tourist sex or sex slavery smuggling in victims from other countries like Ukraine and Philippines. Gonorrhea is higher than at any time in the past 30 years. The rate has tripled in the past ten years.
Interesting that a breakthrough in fighting such diseases comes from a researcher in Hamilton who found some strong microbes in the dirt from his backyard! My son always told me it's healthy to eat dirt.
The new list relied on data from 2017 to 2022, which means a natural time lag, the team said. It’s urging updates every three to five years, not once a decade.

In work published recently in the journal Nature, Wright’s lab isolated a protein from a bacterium taken from a soil sample collected from his technician’s backyard in Hamilton. In lab mice, “It has activity against almost all of the pathogens that we care about on that list.” He’s now trying to develop it into a drug candidate.

Police union chiefs: Liberal gun grab will have ‘zero impact’ on crime:
Police union leaders blasted the Liberal government on Thursday, pressing them on lax bail oversight, repeat offenders, “safe supply” policies, and the federal gun confiscation program.
Police union leaders blasted the Liberal government on Thursday, pressing them on lax bail oversight, repeat offenders, “safe supply” policies, and the federal gun confiscation program.
Several police union heads appeared before the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights on Thursday to express their concerns. The committee had not met since the early summer, when it was adjourned for several months despite rising crime in Ontario and a last-minute pledge from the Carney Liberals to enact substantive criminal justice reforms ahead of the most recent federal election.
After a lengthy delay, Canadian Police Association president Tom Stamatakis, National Police Federation president Brian Sauvé, and Toronto Police Association president Clayton Campbell appeared before the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights on Thursday. They raised concerns about officer safety, gaps in federal bail data, recruitment and retention challenges, “safe supply” programs, and the need for stronger federal support for frontline policing.
The Liberal government’s firearms confiscation program, first billed as a “buyback” in 2020, was also a major focus.
The initiative, which bans more than 2,500 previously legal models, has faced repeated delays, confusion and controversy. It is now slated to conclude by the end of 2026 at an estimated cost of nearly $2 billion.
The program has been widely criticized for its inefficacy and lack of clear directives.
At one point, Conservative MP Andrew Lawton cross examined Canada’s largest law enforcement stakeholders on the Liberals gun “buyback” program.
“Has Public Safety Minister Gary Ananadagasaree ever consulted with you on the firearm’s buyback (program)?” Lawton asked the witnesses.
The question drew an objection for “relevance,” but in a surprising show of bipartisan support, Liberal chair Marc Miller allowed the questioning to continue.
“We’ve talked about this before,” Campbell responded. “The gun buyback program is going to have zero impact on the crime we’re seeing in the city of Toronto. Period.”
Other witnesses on Thursday similarly doubted the gun confiscation program’s efficacy—something chair and Conservative MP Larry Brock called “an absolute disaster.”
