Torah Design in Isaiah
The Book of Isaiah is full of prophecy and insights. The sixty-six chapters of this amazing book present the form of the sixty-six books of the Bible. The first thirty-nine chapters are known as the Book of Judgement and correspond to the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament. Chapters forty through sixty-six, twenty-seven in all, are known as the Book of Comfort and correspond to the twenty-seven books of the New Testament.
The chapters of Isaiah also display Torah designs. You will recall that the Torah is the first five books of the Old Testament, and a Torah design follows the theme of these books.
Chapters thirty-six through forty of Isaiah form a fascinating Torah design. Chapter thirty-six is a Genesis chapter, and the theme of Genesis is the sin of man. This chapter describes the assault on Judah by the Assyrian king, Sennacherib. Sennacherib, in his arrogance, challenges the One and Only God. Sennacherib places himself above God. This is what Satan wishes to do, and it all started in the Garden, in Genesis.
Chapter thirty-seven is an Exodus chapter, and the theme of Exodus is deliverance. The Lord delivered the Children of Israel from slavery in Egypt. This chapter describes the prayer of King Hezekiah and the deliverance of the City of Jerusalem.
Chapter thirty-eight is a Leviticus chapter, and the theme of Leviticus is sanctification or setting apart. The Levites were set apart for service to the Lord. In this chapter, we find that Hezekiah became ill and was healed with a poultice of figs. A more complete description of his illness is found in II Kings 20:1-11. Here, King Hezekiah is a type of the nation Israel and was healed on the third day. This foreshadows the setting aside (and healing) of Israel in the latter days (see Hosea 6:1-2).
Chapter thirty-nine is a Numbers chapter, and the theme of Numbers is testing or the wilderness march. Numbers tells of the forty years of wandering and testing in the wilderness. In this chapter, it is prophesied that Babylon will come against Judah and take everything they have. It is a foreshadowing of Mystery Babylon, which is one of the forces against Israel during the Tribulation (see Revelation chapter 18).
Chapter forty is a Deuteronomy chapter, and the theme of Deuteronomy is the establishment of the Kingdom. The Book of Deuteronomy describes the Children of Israel entering the Promised Land. Chapter forty is also the beginning of the Book of Comfort. Isaiah chapter forty describes the coming of the Messiah. It is easy to see, from our historical perspective, that this chapter is a prophecy about Jesus. But it also foreshadows His Second Coming and the ushering in of the Kingdom Age.
These chapters tell the story of a future event when all the nations of the world (represented prophetically by the kings of Assyria and Babylon) come against Israel in the last days and how Israel will be delivered. They describe how the Lord will heal Israel and will comfort in His Kingdom those who love Him and honour Him. I look forward to that day. Come, Lord Jesus!

As they have now introduced Bill C-218 to amend the MAiD program to allow them to do what they have not been allowed. Two former federal contractors were arrested for allegedly conspiring to destroy government databases
After the men were terminated from their employment, they allegedly sought to harm the company and its U.S. government customers by accessing computers without authorization.
Two former federal contractors from Virginia have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to destroy government databases, according to the Justice Department.
Muneeb and Sohaib Akhter, both 34, of Alexandria, Va., were arrested on Wednesday after being indicted on Nov. 13 for conspiring to delete databases used to store U.S. government information, the DOJ announced.
After both men were terminated from their employment, they allegedly sought to harm the company and its U.S. government customers by accessing computers without authorization, issuing commands to prevent others from modifying the databases before deletion, deleting databases, stealing information, and destroying evidence of their unlawful activities, according to court documents.
Per the indictment, on or about Feb. 18, Muneeb Akhter allegedly deleted approximately 96 databases storing U.S. government information. Many of the deleted databases contained records and documents related to Freedom of Information Act matters administered by federal government agencies, in addition to sensitive investigative files of federal government components.
Allegedly, about a minute after deleting a Department of Homeland Security database, Muneeb Akhter asked an artificial intelligence tool how to clear system logs following the deletion of databases, according to court documents. The brothers also discussed cleaning out their house in anticipation of a law enforcement search, per the indictment. Their company laptops were wiped before being returned to the federal contractor.
After being fired from his job,
Muneeb Akhter also allegedly obtained information from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission without authorization. Additionally, he is alleged to have stolen copies of IRS information stored on a virtual machine, including federal tax information and other identifying information of at least 450 individuals. His brother is also charged with trafficking in a password that could access a computer used by and for the U.S. government.
Muneeb Akhter is charged with conspiracy to commit computer fraud and to destroy records, two counts of computer fraud, theft of U.S. government records, and two counts of aggravated identity theft, with a mandatory minimum penalty of two years in prison for each aggravated identity theft count and a maximum penalty of 45 years for the remaining charges if convicted.
Sohaib Akhter is charged with conspiracy to commit computer fraud and to destroy records and computer fraud via password trafficking, and he is facing a maximum penalty of six years in prison if convicted.
“These defendants abused their positions as federal contractors to attack government databases and steal sensitive government information. Their actions jeopardized the security of government systems and disrupted agencies’ ability to serve the American people,” Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew Galeotti of the DOJ’s Criminal Division said in a statement on Wednesday.

Judicial Watch Sues for FBI Records on Hunter Biden’s Infamous Laptop
The Hunter Biden saga drags on as the government clings to details about his laptop.
In our latest effort to pry this information loose, we filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice for all FBI investigative records concerning Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop, which contained extensive evidence of Biden family business dealings (Judicial Watch Inc. v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:25-cv-04240)).
The Justice Department’s refusal to release these basic investigative records raises serious questions about transparency and potential interference in one of the most consequential political stories in recent history. We will fight in court to get the public the answers it is entitled to under the law.
We sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the FBI failed to respond to a January 29, 2025, FOIA request for:
All FBI investigative reports, witness interview summaries, memoranda, and other records related to the investigation of Hunter Biden's laptop.
All emails, text messages, Lync messages and other electronic communications records related to the Hunter Biden laptop.
IRS whistleblowers confirmed that the FBI became aware of Hunter Biden’s laptop as early as October 2019 and verified its authenticity in November 2019. The FBI took possession of it in December 2019.
In October 2020, through information obtained from Hunter Biden’s laptop, the New York Post began publishing reports about the Biden family’s business arrangements.
In an August 2022 letter, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) highlighted whistleblower concerns about the handling of the FBI’s investigation, noting that the Bureau appeared to take no visible action for months despite possessing the verified laptop well before the 2020 presidential election.
We have filed numerous FOIA lawsuits seeking transparency on the Hunter Biden investigations and related matters.
In July 2025, we sued the Justice Department for all records from the Offices of Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, and Associate Attorney General regarding Joe Biden’s controversial pardon of Hunter Biden (Judicial Watch Inc. v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:25-cv-02143)).
A hearing was held in July 2025 in the FOIA lawsuit against the National Archives for Biden family records and communications regarding travel and finance transactions, as well as communications between the Bidens and several known business associates (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. National Archives (No. 1:23-cv-01432).
In February 2025, we filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department for records and communications regarding the Internal Revenue Service’s investigation of Hunter Biden (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of Justice (No.1:24-cv-03387)).
In June 2024, we received records from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) showing Mike Morell, former acting CIA director under President Obama, requesting CIA permission to publish a letter by former intelligence community leaders stating that they believed the laptop emails exposing Hunter Biden’s connections to Ukraine were Russian disinformation.
Morrell’s request for prepublication review was approved in just six hours by the CIA (Judicial Watch v. Central Intelligence Agency (No. 1:23-cv-01844)).
In January 2024, we filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department for records of communications between the FBI and social media sites regarding foreign influence in elections, as well as Big Tech censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story (Judicial Watch Inc. v U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:23-cv-00079)).
In October 2022, we sued the DOJ for all records in the possession of FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst Brian Auten regarding an August 6, 2020, briefing provided to members of the U.S. Senate. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) raised concerns that the briefing was intended to undermine the senators’ investigation of Hunter Biden (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:22-cv-02821)).
We filed a lawsuit against the U.S. State Department on April 20, 2022, for messages sent through the SMART (State Messaging and Archive Retrieval Toolkit) system that mention Hunter Biden (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:22-cv-01066)).
In December 2020, State Department records obtained through a Judicial Watch FOIA lawsuit showed that former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie “Masha” Yovanovitch had specifically warned in 2017 about corruption allegations against Burisma Holdings. Previously, in this case, State Department records included a briefing checklist of a February 22, 2019, meeting in Kyiv between then-U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch and Sally Painter, co-founder and chief operating officer of Blue Star Strategies, a Democratic lobbying firm which was hired by Burisma Holdings to combat corruption allegations.
At the time of the meeting, Hunter Biden was serving on the board of directors for Burisma Holdings (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:20-cv-00229)).
Judicial Watch Sues Boston Mayor for Details of Mariachi Band Press Conference
At an August 19, 2025, press conference, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu reportedly vowed to resist the Justice Department’s efforts to secure cooperation from local governments with federal immigration enforcement. The event opened with mariachi music performed for attendees as Wu positioned Boston as a defiant “sanctuary” jurisdiction in opposition to federal law.
To see what’s behind this event, we filed a Massachusetts Public Records Law lawsuit against the City of Boston for details about the press conference during which Wu publicly defied U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi’s demands that Boston comply with federal immigration law (Judicial Watch v. City of Boston (No. 2584 cv 03395)).
We filed the lawsuit in the Suffolk County Superior Court after the Wu administration failed to respond to our public records request for emails of Mayor Wu and her immediate staff about Attorney General Bondi’s demands that Boston modify its sanctuary-city policy and cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as records related to the appearance of a mariachi band at the August 19, 2025, press conference.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that in September 2025, it and federal partners arrested more than 1,400 illegal aliens in Massachusetts – including murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, child sex predators and members of violent transnational criminal gangs. Acting ICE Director Todd M. Lyons said, “Every illegal alien we arrested during the operation was breaking U.S. immigration law, and hundreds were violent criminals who should never have been allowed to roam freely in our communities.”
Mayor Wu staged a racist political spectacle instead of cooperating with federal law enforcement – even as dangerous criminal aliens are at large in her city. Boston residents deserve to know why the mayor’s office refuses transparency about this event and why City Hall is stonewalling lawful public records requests.
In October 2025, we sued the Office of the Mayor of Evanston, IL, for records related to obstruction of federal immigration enforcement.
In January 2025, we sued Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office for records regarding his vow to resist the Trump administration’s mass deportation and other immigration law enforcement activities.
Judicial Watch Sues for FBI Records on Hillary Clinton’s Brother, Tony Rodham
What’s currently in the public record about the schemes of Hillary Clinton’s little brother, Tony, likely just scratches the surface.
We filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice for FBI records on Hillary Clinton’s deceased brother, Tony Rodham (Judicial Watch v U.S. Department of Justice (No.1:25-cv-04237)).
We sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the Justice Department failed to respond adequately to a June 10, 2019, FOIA request for FBI records about Rodham. We are asking for:
All records related to Anthony Dean Rodham, born in August 1954 in Park Ridge, Illinois, who died on June 7, 2019, including but not limited to: investigative reports; 302s; witness statements; Confidential Human Source reporting (FD 1023 forms); meetings/contacts (FD 209a forms); cables; letterhead memoranda; and communications sent to and from FBI officials regarding Mr. Rodham.
In August 2019, the FBI acknowledged it had located over 13,000 pages of records responsive to the request, as well as audio and video files that are potentially responsive to the request.
After years of delays, in May 2025, the FBI again acknowledged possession of responsive records and asked if there was still interest. We acknowledged our continued interest in having the request processed without modification of its scope. Having received no further response from the FBI, we filed suit.
Clearly, the Justice Department has been sitting on a wealth of information, and we intend to obtain it.
Rodham, for decades, used his connections with the Clintons to further his failing career. Rodham described himself as a “facilitator” and had a range of opportunities, like addressing Chinese investor conferences and joining an advisory board of a company seeking permission to mine for gold in Haiti. Among other controversies, Rodham also pursued contracts in post-earthquake Haiti, seeking a $22 million housing deal while Bill Clinton co-chaired the recovery commission, a proposal that collapsed.
While Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and Rodham were beneficiaries of the EB-5 cash-for-visas program, in which they raised at least $46 million from investors for their GreenTech Automotive electric-car company. Greentech filed for bankruptcy in February 2018.
Through our FOIA investigations and lawsuits, we have uncovered other incidents involving Rodham.
In August 2017, we uncovered records from the State Department revealing repeated use of unsecured communications for classified information and numerous examples of Clinton Foundation donors receiving special favours from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s staff.
The emails also reveal instances of Rodham seeking to leverage his influence as Clinton’s brother. In January 2010, Confidential Assistant Monica Hanley forwarded to Abedin a request from Rodham on three issues. One involved help on a “green card renewal,” another involved a visit by someone of whom Abedin said they “wanted to regret,” and a third involved a job for someone whose CV Rodham forwarded to State.
In July 2017, we received records from the State Department revealing incidents of Huma Abedin, deputy chief of staff to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, providing special State Department treatment to major donors to the Clinton Foundation and political campaigns.
The heavily redacted documents from Abedin’s non-government account included an email from Rodham to Abedin revealing that he acted as a go-between for a Clinton Foundation donor, Richard Park. The records also revealed Clinton Foundation executive Doug Band instructing Abedin to “show love” to Clinton donor Andrew Liveris.
Billions of Tax Dollars Spent in Failed Effort to Rebuild Afghanistan
Afghanistan offers a clear lesson: You can’t smoothly impose Western democracy on a quasi-feudal Third World country. Our Corruption Chronicles blog reports on the billions of your tax dollars that were haphazardly thrown at the attempt to rebuild Afghanistan.
For nearly two decades, the U.S. government spent a breathtaking $145 billion on a failed plan to rebuild Afghanistan, and at least $26 billion of it was lost to waste, fraud and abuse, according to the final report published by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR).
The United States also left behind over $38 billion in military equipment and military and civilian infrastructure, the audit reveals, offering enraging details about the U.S. government’s costly debacle to restore a terrorist nation that promptly returned to Taliban rule the moment American troops left in 2021. Even after the Biden administration’s disastrous military withdrawal, hundreds of millions of dollars in humanitarian aid kept flowing into the coffers of fake charities created by the Taliban. The terrorist group also received at least $239 million in development assistance because the State Department did not screen award recipients, failing to comply with its own counterterrorism partner vetting requirements before disbursing dozens of grants to local entities in the central Asian Islamic nation.
“The Afghan government’s stunningly rapid collapse in August 2021 laid bare a fragility concealed by years of confident assertions of progress,” the new SIGAR report states. “The gap between ambition and reality was vast, with deteriorating conditions continually stymying objectives that proved to be unrealistic.” Investigators blame multiple factors for the U.S. failure to transform a war-torn, underdeveloped country into a stable and prosperous democracy.
“For example, early and ongoing U.S. decisions to ally with corrupt, human-rights-abusing powerbrokers bolstered the insurgency and undermined the mission, including U.S. goals for bringing democracy and good governance to Afghanistan,” the audit says, adding that efforts to improve Afghanistan’s economic and social conditions also failed to have a lasting impact and that despite nearly “$90 billion in U.S. appropriations for security-sector assistance, Afghan security forces ultimately collapsed quickly without a sustained U.S. military presence.”
The cost of the failed Afghanistan reconstruction plan was “immense,” investigators found, and includes tens of thousands of people— including more than 2,450 U.S. servicemembers—killed. Many more were injured, among them more than 20,700 U.S. servicemembers, the watchdog writes.
SIGAR, which was created in 2009 and will officially shut down at the end of January 2026, has identified at least 1,327 instances of waste, fraud, and abuse for a total of at least $26 billion from 2002 through the middle of 2021. The cash started flowing shortly after President George W. Bush launched military operations in Afghanistan following the 9/11 attacks as part of the war on terror.
Even after Afghanistan fell back to Taliban rule in 2021, the U.S. remains its largest donor, disbursing over $3.83 billion in humanitarian and development assistance, much of it managed by the famously corrupt United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which was dismantled by the Trump administration.
Nevertheless, the money is still flowing to Afghanistan, with disbursements of $120 million in the March 2025 quarter alone, according to the SIGAR report. Past failures have not stopped Uncle Sam from cutting the checks.
The report offers a multitude of examples of the waste over the years, including $7.3 billion on an ineffective counternarcotics program that did little to stem the production and exportation of illicit drugs; $4.7 billion on a failed stabilization project to keep insurgents out of an area after they had been expelled by security forces; $675 million on wasteful business development programs aimed at reducing violence to enhance stability and economic normalcy; $486 million for unused aircraft for the Afghan Air Force; $335 million for a USAID constructed power plant that was not utilized and $85 million for an unfinished—and never used—hotel across from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul.
Most of the projects that seemed legitimate were also wasteful and failed to accomplish their goal, the final in-depth probe confirms. For instance, the U.S. allocated $90 billion to Afghanistan's Security, yet the nation’s security forces collapsed quickly without a sustained U.S. Military presence. Investigators warn that the costly failure to rebuild Afghanistan was predictable.
“Unlike past reconstruction efforts in places like post-World War II Europe or Japan, where the United States successfully rebuilt countries whose modern economies, industry, and infrastructure had been degraded by war, Afghanistan was a severely underdeveloped state,” SIGAR writes. “U.S. efforts there were often trying to create capabilities, systems, and institutions of a type and quality the country had never possessed.”

Turning Point breaks the Silence on Candace Owens's wild Charlie Kirk Assassination Claims
Turning Point USA has finally responded to Candace Owens's conspiracy theories linking Charlie Kirk's assassination to those at the top of his organization.
Blake Neff, Kirk's longtime producer, took to the airwaves on Wednesday after Owens tarred everyone at TPUSA in complicity with Charlie's death.
And in a dramatic twist, Neff called Owens's bluff and invited the provocateur to appear on the Charlie Kirk Show to have her allegations tested live on-air.
Owens has for weeks spewed vile theories that those closest to Kirk were involved in his assassination, while pushing absurd conspiracies involving Egyptian government jets and French paratroopers.
'My friends have had to endure harassment from people who have gotten whipped up by what Candace is saying,' Neff said.
'In fact, I would say we have suffered more harassment from these people than we have from Antifa supporters who overtly celebrate Charlie's murder.'
Neff recounted numerous claims by Owens, including that the atrocity at Utah Valley University on September 10 was an 'inside job'.
He pushed back on Owens's claims that Kirk's security team intentionally withheld first aid, her suspicions toward technical staff handling camera equipment, and her wild allegations against TPUSA staff, pastors, and even members of a college soccer team.

Neff emphasized that Owens's accusations have grown increasingly bizarre, citing references to French paratroopers, Egyptian military planes, underground assassins, and other far-fetched scenarios.
He stated that these allegations have fueled online harassment against his colleagues and friends, noting that the hostility stirred up by Owens's followers has surpassed even what they've faced from anti-Kirk activists.
Neff also accused Owens of making her claims to 'manipulate and string along an audience of people who don't realize they are being played'.
However, in a shocking twist at the end of his monologue, Neff invited Owens to appear on the Charlie Kirk show to have her allegations challenged head-on, noting that 'the ball was in her court'.
The dismantling of Owens's claims also did not stop with her, as Neff additionally called out her zealous supporters as 'worse than Antifa'.
Answering the question of why it took so long for TPUSA to address the accusation, Neff noted that Kirk did consider Owens a close friend and that he believed in being beyond conservative infighting while he was alive.
When approached for comment by the Daily Mail about TPUSA's refutations and if she would accept Neff's invite to appear on the show, a spokesman for Owens said that she would answer our inquiries live during her next podcast episode on Wednesday.

Charlie had built Turning Point USA into one of the most influential conservative youth organizations in America, known for its campus activism and annual conferences that drew thousands of young conservatives.
After his death, Erika publicly delivered a statement vowing to carry on his work as the new CEO of the organization.
Trump memorably eulogized Charlie at his memorial service days later and comforted Erika, who mourned the loss of her husband.
'We know the weight of this monumental loss is almost unbearable,' he said.

FBI Opens Probe into Alleged Decade-Long Conspiracy to Meddle in Elections
The FBI has quietly launched a wide-ranging criminal investigation into what officials are calling a decade-long “grand conspiracy” by Democratic Party operatives and deep-state actors to interfere in multiple U.S. elections.
FBI Director Kash Patel initiated the investigation a few weeks ago. Sources told Just the News the probe could lead to the appointment of a special prosecutor to determine whether the actions surrounding Russia collusion, Jack Smith’s prosecutions, and other events add up to a criminal conspiracy.
One source said the case could gain momentum if President Trump declassifies two sets of still-classified evidence dating back to 2016.
The first is a classified annex tied to the inspector general’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server—an annex Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley has sought for years. That annex allegedly shows that credible intelligence suggesting wrongdoing was ignored by the FBI.
The second set of documents relates to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report, which references what it calls “Clinton plan intelligence.”
Durham’s report revealed that U.S. intelligence agencies were aware the Clinton campaign was pushing a fake Russia collusion narrative in 2016 before the FBI launched its now-discredited Crossfire Hurricane probe.
Much of the evidence used in that probe came from Clinton allies or the campaign itself. Both tranches remain classified and have never been released to the public. Officials say the reason for the secrecy is that the documents reveal sensitive intelligence-gathering methods.
Earlier this month, CIA Director John Ratcliffe issued a scathing review of how the intelligence community handled Russian interference claims in 2016.
He accused former CIA Director John Brennan of favouring a political narrative over sound analysis and criticized the FBI for helping promote the now-debunked Steele dossier.
Ratcliffe later posted online that Trump was the target of “an atypical & corrupt process” under Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey.
If Trump declassifies the Grassley and Durham annexes, prosecutors could use them before a grand jury to show a pattern of misconduct—arguing that agencies ignored evidence damaging to Democrats while aggressively targeting Trump.
One possibility under discussion is appointing a special prosecutor to examine evidence that the FBI received intelligence in August 2020 suggesting China was preparing fake mail-in ballots to help Joe Biden.
Instead of investigating, the FBI allegedly told other agencies to disregard the intelligence and destroy the information.
The statute of limitations on that specific incident is set to expire in a matter of weeks.
But officials say the broader conspiracy case could allow prosecutors to tie older and newer misconduct together under one ongoing criminal scheme.
That approach could also allow a grand jury to be seated outside of Washington, D.C., where conviction rates in Trump-related cases have been virtually nonexistent.
Florida is considered one possible venue. Officials say some of the overt acts in the alleged conspiracy occurred there and remain within the statute of limitations.
A former federal prosecutor told Just the News that Florida could be a logical venue, citing the 2022 Mar-a-Lago raid and other events. If the case moves forward and a special prosecutor is appointed, it could examine whether years of decisions made by government officials were part of a coordinated attempt to influence the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections.
Democrats, including Clinton, Comey, Brennan, and Smith, have denied wrongdoing while acknowledging some mistakes.
But congressional Republicans have uncovered evidence suggesting those mistakes may have been intentional.
The probe is also expected to look at multiple cases involving Trump that relied on flawed or fabricated evidence.
Officials believe the “grand conspiracy” case could tie these events together and show a coordinated effort to weaponize federal law enforcement against one political opponent over multiple election cycles.

Millions of dollars in taxpayer money stolen as part of a series of massive Minnesota welfare fraud schemes may have been funnelled to Somalia-based terror group al-Shabab, according to a report.
The radical Islamic terror group, which is a longstanding ally of al Qaeda and considered a threat to US interests, has likely been the beneficiary of money stolen in a spate of scams and sent to Somalia by the criminals defrauding the North Star State, City Journal reported Wednesday, citing federal counterterrorism sources.
“This is a third-rail conversation, but the largest funder of al-Shabab is the Minnesota taxpayer,” a source who worked on a federal investigation into Minnesotans attempting to join overseas terror groups, told the outlet.
“There is an issue here that is real, and if there is ever an event that is traceable back to these funds, or to people from this area, then this situation will take on a whole new set of optics,” the source warned.

Minnesota has been plagued by several high-profile fraud scandals in recent years. The largest being the Feeding Our Future scheme, for which prosecutors have racked up 56 criminal convictions in what they allege was a plot to steal $300 million from a federally funded program meant to feed children during the coronavirus pandemic.
In recent months, the Minnesota US Attorney’s Office has uncovered multimillion-dollar fraud schemes targeting the state’s Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services program and a federally funded autism services program for children.
The state’s top prosecutor believes “billions of dollars in taxpayer money” has been stolen as a result of fraud.
“To be clear, this is not an isolated scheme,” acting US Attorney Joseph Thompson said in September when announcing the first charges in the autism fraud scheme. “From Feeding Our Future to Housing Stabilization Services and now Autism Services, these massive fraud schemes form a web that has stolen billions of dollars in taxpayer money.
“Each case we bring exposes another strand of this network. The challenge is immense, but our work continues.”
Former fraud investigator Kayesh Magan, a Somali-American who had worked in the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, noted in an op-ed last year that it is “uncomfortable and true” that “nearly all of the defendants” in several Minnesota fraud cases, including Feeding Our Future, “are from my community. The Somali community.”
David Gaither, a former Republican Minnesota state senator, believes state Democrats and the media have ignored fraud being perpetrated by members of the state’s large and politically influential Somali community, which has made the problem worse.
“The media does not want to put a light on this,” Gaither told City Journal.
“And if you’re a politician, it’s a significant disadvantage for you to alienate the Somali community. If you don’t win the Somali community, you can’t win Minneapolis. And if you don’t win Minneapolis, you can’t win the state. End of story.”

The fraudulently obtained welfare funds make their way to al-Shabab through the “untold millions” of dollars in cash remitted by Somalis in Minnesota back to Somalia through an informal network of money handlers, known as “hawalas,” the outlet reported.
“We had sources going into the hawalas to send money,” Glenn Kerns, a retired Seattle Police Department detective who served on a federal Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), explained. “I went down to [Minnesota] and pulled all of their records and, well, sh–t, all these Somalis sending out money are on DHS benefits. How does that make sense? We had good sources tell us: This is welfare fraud.”

Kerns said he later determined that “significant funds” were being sent from people in the US to al-Shabab networks in Somalia, and though it may not have been intentional, the terror group was getting a share.
“Every scrap of economic activity, in the Twin Cities, in America, throughout Western Europe, anywhere Somalis are concentrated, every cent that is sent back to Somalia benefits al-Shabab in some way,” a former member of the Minneapolis JTTF said. “For every dollar that is transferred from the Twin Cities back to Somalia, al-Shabab is … taking a cut of it.”

If you stumble on a certain neck of the woods around Santa Cruz, you might think you had wound up in Alice’s Wonderland. But it’s no children’s fiction novel you’re in, for there is a real place called the “Mystery Spot,” where things are not as they seem, where the law of gravity appears not to apply. It’s a real place. No yarn.
Visitors come from all over the world to experience the strange topsy-turvy-ness of this supernatural-seeming wonder, though logic and science have yet to fully explain it. Once inside the circular twilight zone, spanning 150 feet (46 meters) across, one will observe a wonky wooden cabin with people feeling lightheaded, nauseous, or woozy inside; or struggling to walk and stand up straight. Balls appear to roll uphill; chairs stand up straight on the walls; and bodies lean to impossible angles without falling down. Indeed, in places, small persons appear large and large small, depending on where they stand.
And the curiosities continue, while fascinating theories abound as to the reasons behind all this madness. Some have claimed extraterrestrial interference, with unidentified craft causing an anti-gravitational pull. Others say it’s simply a natural magnetic anomaly, perhaps a quantum wrinkle that can’t be explained. Then there are those who cite supernatural forces haunting the surrounding forest.
Speculation is part of the fun at this roadside attraction, and scientists are not exempt. In 1998, a group of psychologists from the University of California, Berkeley conducted a study explaining the Mystery Spot as a visual illusion. When a person enters the cabin, situated on a steep hill, he or she is unable to fix their sight on the horizon, meaning their perception is distorted.
Furthermore, according to the researchers, when that person’s body is positioned at an angle, their perceptual distortion more than doubles. Psychology professor Bruce Bridgeman agrees. The University of California, Santa Cruz conducted an academic study in which a pendulum was hung from the ceiling of the cabin and observed study participants attempting to push it in two directions. While the weight hung vertically, the tilt of the building made it seem “off.” Comically, participants exerted much more effort than needed to push the pendulum toward what they perceived to be vertical, a behaviour Mr. Bridgeman calls the “effort illusion.”
