SPIRITUAL:

 From the Womb to the Tomb …

“And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed with a white robe: and they were astonished. Who saith to them: Be not affrighted; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: He is risen, He is not here.” Mark 16:5-6

He is risen!

Indeed, He is risen!

This ancient Easter proclamation rings through the ages as the ultimate triumph.

It’s the foundation of our Christian faith and our source of eternal hope because Our Blessed Lord has conquered sin and death.


Because He lives, we know that every human life bears eternal dignity.

The Resurrection, after all, is not an abstract symbol stolen from the pagans …

It’s the greatest event in human history that defeats the Culture of Death and calls us to defend the gift of life from the moment of conception to a natural end, from the womb to the tomb.


In a country that embraces the killing of unborn children through abortion, and the growing evil of euthanasia, the Resurrection stands as our unshakeable hope.

If Christ emptied His tomb and liberated life itself, how can we remain silent when the most vulnerable are denied the most basic human right there is—the right to life?

To destroy human life, whether it’s the preborn or the vulnerable, is to oppose the victory Christ won for us on the first Easter morning.


Today, as we celebrate the Empty Tomb, let us renew our commitment to never to be silent in the face of the Culture of Death.


The Risen Christ invites us to be joyful witnesses of His victory.

So, let this Easter joy overflow into action.


The same power that raised Christ from the grave is at work in us through the Holy Spirit.

We are an Easter people, called to proclaim life boldly, to reject despair, and to defend those who cannot defend themselves.


May the joy of Easter strengthen us to defend the unborn, comfort the suffering, and affirm that life is always a gift worth protecting.

He is RISEN:

Jesus’ resurrection is the foundation of our hope. Because He lives, we are not left to wonder what comes next—we are given a living hope that reaches beyond today and into eternity.As we celebrate Easter, I’ve been reflecting on what that hope looks like in everyday life.

Not just as something we believe, but as something we live out—especially in moments of uncertainty or difficulty.In my study, I came across this description from Warren Wiersbe on 1 Peter 1:8 in the NKJV Wiersbe Study Bible, available with Bible Gateway Plus, which helped bring that connection into clearer focus:


Faith means surrendering all to God and obeying His Word in spite of circumstances and consequences. Love and faith go together: When you love someone, you trust him or her. And faith and love together help to strengthen hope—for where we find faith and love, we will find confidence for the future.

 

Let's read together 1 Peter 1:3-9 from the New International Readers Version (NIrV) in celebration of Jesus' resurrection.

Give praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us a new birth and a living hope. This hope is living because Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He has given us new birth so that we might share in what belongs to him. This is a gift that can never be destroyed. It can never spoil or even fade away. It is kept in heaven for you.

 

Through faith you are kept safe by God’s power. Your salvation is going to be completed. It is ready to be shown to you in the last days. Because you know all this, you have great joy. You have joy even though you may have had to suffer for a little while. You may have had to suffer sadness in all kinds of trouble. Your troubles have come in order to prove that your faith is real. Your faith is worth more than gold. That’s because gold can pass away even when fire has made it pure.

 

Your faith is meant to bring praise, honor and glory to God. This will happen when Jesus Christ returns. Even though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not see him now, you believe in him. You are filled with a glorious joy that can’t be put into words.


You are receiving the salvation of your souls.

This salvation is the final result of your faith.

Join me in reflecting on Jesus' resurrection and our Faith in Jesus.

CANADIAN:

Mississauga bans raising foreign flags on city flagpoles

The City of Mississauga has declared that it will no longer raise national flags other than Canada’s on the city’s flagpole.

Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish announced on X that the Mississauga City Council has approved a motion to immediately cease raising any other national flag other than Canada’s on the city’s flagpole.

She said in the post that the city flagpole was originally intended for charities and associations. The move comes as the Israeli flag was set to be raised later this month.

TRUMP: 

US Service Member Missing After Iran Shot Down Fighter Jet Has Been Rescued

 

The United States said Sunday it rescued a service member missing behind enemy lines since Iran downed a fighter jet, as President Donald Trump escalated pressure on Tehran with a new looming deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran showed no signs of backing down, striking new economic and infrastructure targets in neighboring Gulf Arab countries.


The airman’s extraction followed a frantic U.S. search-and-rescue operation after the Friday crash of the F-15E Strike Eagle, as Iran also promised a reward for anyone who turned in an “enemy pilot.” Trump said he was injured but in stable condition.

“This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies, who were getting closer and closer by the hour,” Trump wrote on social media.


A second crew member was rescued earlier.

The fighter jet was the first American aircraft to have crashed in Iranian territory since the U.S. and Israel launched the war, striking Iran on Feb. 28. It has since killed thousands, shaken global markets, cut off key shipping routes and spiked fuel prices. Both sides have threatened and hit civilian targets, bringing warnings of possible war crimes.

Trump said last week that the U.S. had “decimated” Iran and would finish the war “very fast.” Two days later, Iran shot down two U.S. military planes, showing the ongoing perils of the bombing campaign and the ability of a degraded Iranian military to continue to hit back.


As Iran continues to exert control over the Strait of Hormuz, Trump, in a weekend social media post, threatened to unleash “all Hell” if it isn’t opened by Monday. He has issued such threats before and extended them when mediators have claimed progress toward ending the war on agreeable terms.


The other jet to go down was a U.S. A-10 attack aircraft. Neither the status of the crew nor exactly where it crashed was immediately known.

On Sunday, Iran’s state TV aired a video showing thick black smoke rising into the air, claiming that they had shot down an American transport plane and two helicopters that were part of the rescue operation. However, a regional intelligence official briefed on the mission told The Associated Press that the U.S. military blew up two transport planes due to a technical malfunction, forcing it to bring in additional aircraft to complete the rescue.


The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the covert mission.

In Kuwait, an Iranian drone attack caused significant damage to two power plants and put a water desalination station out of service, according to the Ministry of Electricity. No injuries were reported from the attack, the ministry said.

In Bahrain, the national oil company said that a drone attack caused a fire at one of its storage facilities, which was extinguished. It said the damage was still being assessed and no injuries had been reported.


In the United Arab Emirates, authorities responded to multiple fires at the Borouge petrochemicals plant, a joint venture of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. and Borealis of Austria. They say the fires were caused by falling debris following successful interceptions by air defense systems, but production at the plant in Ruwais, near the UAE’s western border with Saudi Arabia, has halted.


The strike came a day after Israel struck a petrochemical plant in Iran that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said generated revenue that it had used to fund the war.

Trump renewed his threats for Iran to open up the Strait of Hormuz by Monday or face devastating consequences, writing Saturday in a social media post: “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out — 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them.”


The waterway is a critical chokepoint for global energy shipments, especially oil and gas moving from the Persian Gulf to Europe and Asia. Disruptions there have injected volatility into the market and pushed oil and gas-importing countries to seek alternative sources.


“The doors of hell will be opened to you” if Iran’s infrastructure is attacked, Gen. Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi with the country’s joint military command said late Saturday in response to Trump’s renewed threat, state media reported. In turn, the general threatened all infrastructure used by the U.S. military in the region.


But Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, told the AP that his government’s efforts to broker a ceasefire are “right on track” after Islamabad last week said that it would soon host talks between the U.S. and Iran.

Mediators from Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt were working to bring the U.S. and Iran to the negotiating table, according to two regional officials.


The proposed compromise includes a cessation of hostilities to allow a diplomatic settlement, according to a regional official involved in the efforts and a Gulf diplomat briefed on the matter. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss closed-door diplomacy.


Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, issued a veiled threat late Friday to disrupt traffic through a second strategic waterway in the region, the Bab el-Mandeb.


The strait, 32 kilometers (20 miles) wide, links the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean. More than a tenth of seaborne global oil and a quarter of container ships pass through it.


“Which countries and companies account for the highest transit volumes through the strait?” Qalibaf wrote.


More than 1,900 people have been killed in Iran since the war began.

In Gulf Arab states and the occupied West Bank, more than two dozen people have died, while 19 have been reported dead in Israel and 13 U.S. service members have been killed. In Lebanon, more than 1,400 people have been killed and more than 1 million people have been displaced. Ten Israeli soldiers have died there.

The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies.

Canada isn’t falling apart because of a few bad decisions, but because the system is built to expand state power at every opportunity.

In Episode 160 of The Blendr Report, Bruce Pardy explains that the problem is not bad leadership or flawed policy but the model itself. Canada has become a managerial state.

A country built on the rule of law is meant to restrain power. Laws apply evenly, Governments act within defined bounds, and Individuals are left to make their own choices, for better or worse. But what we have now is something else. The state doesn’t just enforce rules—it shapes outcomes. It intervenes, adjusts, corrects, and expands.

And it rarely pulls back.


You can see it in the numbers. Government spending makes up a massive share of economic activity. Entire industries operate under protection, subsidy, or quiet coordination with the state. Telecom, banking, airlines, even parts of education—they don’t behave like open markets but managed systems.

It looks private but it isn’t.


That same logic has spread into law. The shift from rule of law to rule by law is subtle, but once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Laws are no longer stable guardrails. They’re tools. Flexible, expandable, selectively applied.

During COVID, rules could change overnight. Not through long legislative process, but through announcement. Press conferences became policy and directives became law. That is how the system truly works.


At the same time, enforcement has become uneven. Small violations are punished quickly and consistently. Miss a technical rule, pay the fine. But larger breakdowns—violent crime, institutional failure, corruption—are often ignored. Pardy describes this as a kind of anarcho-tyranny. Tight control at the bottom and looseness at the top.

Meanwhile, most people go along with it.


That may be the hardest part to confront. The system persists because it is supported. Not always consciously, but culturally. Canadians have been taught to expect solutions from the state. More services, more protection, and more intervention. Each demand expands the same machinery that limits them.


Even the legal foundations are shifting. Property rights, once assumed to be stable, are becoming conditional. Court rulings and political frameworks like UNDRIP are introducing competing claims over land and ownership. The details are complex, but the direction is clear: certainty is being replaced with negotiation.

And a system without clear ownership is a system open to control.


None of this fits neatly into left versus right. That frame is too narrow. What we’re really looking at is a divide between those who believe society should be managed, and those who believe it should be constrained. Canada chose management.

Reversing that isn’t a matter of electing different people. It would require rethinking the role of government itself, which requires a cultural shift.

Ottawa's $90 Billion Rail Heist - What It Actually Costs You

The $90 billion headline is just the entry point, not the real price. When you account for how these projects actually unfold, the cost per taxpayer becomes far harder to ignore.

The Laurentian Elite who loot Canadian taxpayers stand to gain BILLIONS from this project. They want major backlash against anyone who threatens their impending goldmine of corruption. The media, the consulting class, the construction lobby, the politically connected firms who always seem to end up with the contracts, need you to believe this is about trains…

BUT IT’S NOT ABOUT TRAINS.

So, let’s do the math they don’t want you to see.


The Base Cost

The sticker price is $90 billion. That’s what the Liberals want you to hear. But that number is a fantasy before the first shovel hits dirt.

According to Joe Carson’s Diagnosis Red Tape, for every dollar paid in federal taxes, 26.72% never re-enters the private economy. It’s consumed by bureaucracy. Not fraud or corruption. Just the ordinary cost of government machinery processing money through its own bloated system.


That means a $90B public project carries roughly $24B in administrative overhead baked in from day one. The true taxpayer burden before anything goes wrong: ~$114B.

All so that 12 million people in the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal corridor can have access to rail.

Already a hard sell. But here’s the problem….


THINGS NEVER GO ACCORDING TO PLAN!

Bent Flyvbjerg is an Oxford professor who has assembled one of the largest megaproject database in the world: 16,000+ projects across 136 countries going back to 1910. His findings are disheartening to say the least.

91.5% of megaprojects go over budget, over schedule, or both. The mean cost overrun is 62%. And less than 1% of megaprojects are completed on time, on budget, and deliver the benefits promised.

One percent.


According to long time friends of the Liberal Party, McKinsey & Company, rail projects specifically go over budget by an average of 44.7%, and their demand is overestimated by 51.4%.

Applied to Alto: $114B × 1.447 = ~$165B. That’s ~$8,250 per taxpayer.

Meanwhile, the Liberals’ projected $35B yearly GDP increase?

If demand is overestimated by half, which is exactly what the data says happens, that’s closer to $17B.

Remember that number because it will become important later.


The Eglinton Precedent


You don’t need to look at Oxford databases or McKinsey reports to understand what’s coming. You just need to look at Toronto.

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT was originally projected at ~$5B.

Final cost: $13B.

It took 15 years of construction.


Businesses along the corridor were destroyed.

Communities were wrecked by noise, dust, and road closures for over a decade.

This isn’t conjecture—I lived on Eglinton for five years during the construction. I saw it firsthand, and I even worked for a business that went under because of it.

Premier Doug Ford refused to hold an inquiry and nobody was held accountable.


The Eglinton Crosstown is 19km long. Alto is ~1,000km. That’s 53 times longer.

The Eglinton Crosstown cost $684M per kilometre. If Alto hit a similar per-km cost, you’d be looking at $684B. That’s obviously absurd — but the directional point is devastating. Canada just proved, in real time, in its largest city, that it cannot build 19km of light rail on time or on budget. The proposed answer is to build 1,000km of high-speed rail?


The Eglinton’s cost multiplied by 2.6×. Apply that same factor to Alto: $114B × 2.6 = ~$296B.

That’s ~$14,800 per taxpayer.


Now Add Corruption


Everything above assumes the money is merely wasted through incompetence. But Canada has a well-documented history of something worse.

The Charbonneau Commission (a provincial inquiry that ran from 2011 to 2015) established that mafia-linked cartels inflated Montreal public contract prices by up to 30%. A retired government whistleblower told the Globe and Mail in 2009 that the Mafia controlled roughly 80% of road contracts in the Montreal region, with prices inflated up to 35%. 


Economists estimated that up to $500 million was misappropriated in Montreal alone between 2004 and 2009.

And it hasn’t stopped. As recently as 2024, the top five firms captured 76% of infrastructure contract value in the sector, with estimated overcosts of at least $40 million in a single year — approximately 20% above fair market price.


Then there’s the “Green Slush Fund” scandal. The Auditor General found 186 conflicts of interest at Sustainable Development Technology Canada, with an estimated $150-390M in misappropriated funds. That’s roughly 17-45% of the fund’s total approvals funnelled to insiders. 


Board members were approving grants to each other’s companies. The bonus structure incentivised rapid disbursement without oversight. When Conservatives demanded documents, the Liberals shut down Parliament rather than hand them over.

Applied to Alto’s $90B base: $15-40B in corruption.

Applied to the Eglinton-style $296B scenario: $50-133B in corruption.

Everything above treats this project as though the government has $90 billion sitting in a vault. It doesn’t because Canada is running deficits.

That means THIS PROJECT WILL BE FINANCED WITH DEBT.

And debt has interest…


The Canada 30-year government bond yield currently sits at ~4%. That’s the rate taxpayers will be charged to borrow money over decades to finance this project.

Here’s what nobody in Ottawa wants you to think about: interest compounds during the entire construction period BEFORE A SINGLE DOLLAR OF GDP BENEFIT IS GENERATED. 


Every year, the government borrows billions more to keep building. Every year, interest piles onto the previous years’ borrowing. By the time the last rail is laid, the total debt is already far larger than the sticker price.

Alto’s own timeline projects full completion by 2043 — roughly 15 years of construction. Let’s run those numbers for each scenario...
