“The presidents naturally touched on the topic of a Ukrainian settlement, including in light of Trump’s upcoming participation in the NATO summit in Turkey on July 7-8,” Ushakov said. “The American president reaffirmed his readiness to facilitate a swift end to hostilities and the search for solutions to overcome the crisis.”
Ushakov said U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would continue their efforts at mediating a settlement and were ready to travel to Moscow when convenient. “The Russian side emphasized the preference for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict, while taking into account fundamental Russian approaches,” he said.

American’s watch a lot of television, clocking in at roughly 30 hours per week on average, making reports of its demise apparently premature. In this talk, I discuss a program of research that focuses on the influence of television content—the stories that are told, both literally and metaphorically—on viewers’ values, attitudes, and beliefs; in short, their worldview.
This research is grounded in cultivation theory, which is the proposition that television is such a dominant socializing force in American culture that the symbolic messages are “cultivated” by viewers, and the more people watch television, the more their worldviews come to resemble those portrayed on television. The research I discuss addresses empirical tests of this proposition and develops cognitive process models to explain the effects.
Looking at modern television and cinema, the “lone wolf” or hyper-individualistic archetype has largely been replaced by ensemble casts, chosen families, and collaborative team dynamics.
While classic 20th-century Hollywood relied heavily on a single, rugged hero who didn’t need anyone, today’s entertainment landscape heavily promotes the value of the collective.
To understand how Hollywood’s enforcement of values has inverted over time, it helps to look at the Hays Code (the Motion Picture Production Code). [1]
From 1934 to 1968, this strict set of industry censorship guidelines forced Hollywood to uphold very rigid, traditional, and institutional values. Under the code: [1]
